LS50 W were easy to hook up. Very sensitive to speaker placement. Once you get a feel for how the KEF app works you can fine tweak the sound to your preference. Overall these speakers excel in vocals, strong midrange, wide stereo stage and very revealing of instruments. Bass is adequate and strong depending on the song you are listening to. I purchased the KEF Kube 8B subwoofer to compliment the speakers and provided a more richer overall sound.

Love the Grey with reddish speakers. I'm no expert, but you can hear so much more from the music with these. It's pricey, but everybody should have a good set of speakers if you can afford it. I had read a review that said "Just buy them. You won't regret it" and I have to agree. It was worth it.

Weak software. Decent sound, but no room correction. There is a dumb wire between the “wireless” speakers. The remote only goes 6 feet or so. This is like a high end speaker company with no experience in digital IMO. In the end two Sonos ONEs and a Sonos sub sound a bit better. I’m returning these.

This is top notch sound quality. Design is engineering marvel: biamped, high res DACs etc. There’s nothing else like that on the market and I feel that where the future audiophile market will go.

    High Resolution Audio Done Right

I fell in love the first time I heard these speakers. The sound was so clear and detailed it completely drew me in to the music. That first experience was at a noisy Magnolia store. They sound even better at home! The sound is incredible. Flawless. Lifelike. I am hearing the totality of the recoding. I listen to familiar pieces and hear things I’ve never heard before, harmonies, instruments, backgrounds, realistic treble and strong bass. It’s like being there. I don’t know how KEF engineers have gotten the sound so perfect but I think it has to do with the unique drivers. The tweeter is surrounded by the low range driver – they’re concentric. I bought the KEFs to use in my home office where they support watching TV and a lot of listening to music. I had a Sonos Playbar, which sounded great, but I wanted more bass and better stereo imaging. I didn’t want a subwoofer. The bass from the KEFs is surprisingly strong, down to about 40 Hz. I kept the Playbar and moved it to the den. The KEFs are not just speakers, they’re a whole sound system including separate DACs and amplifiers for low range and high range drivers. The internal signal path and digital signal processor run at 192 KHz - totally high resolution. The low range amps are 200 watts each. These puppies can get loud when you need it and they don’t lose anything at high volume. I have them hooked up to my PC via USB so I can play files sampled at 192 KHz. The TV feeds them an optical input maxed out at 96 KHz. You can also drive them over your WiFi using KEFs android or iOS apps, or by bluetooth (aptX codec). And there’s an analog RCA input as well. All the inputs sound excellent, but I can tell the bluetooth signal is compressed. Not unpleasant, but there’s a lot missing compared to the high-resolution inputs. There is also a subwoofer output but I think that’s unnecessary. Setup was simple and I ran a firmware update. Each speaker gets a copy of the firmware. KEF also provides a USB driver for Windows users. The KEFs come in 3 colors. I ordered the titanium with red drivers sight unseen and then while waiting for my special order to arrive I worried that the red would be too much. It’s not. They’re gorgeous! Understated elegance. If I had to complain about something it would be the remote. It is tricky to use in the dark by sense of touch. Other reviewers have complained about the KEF app. It worked fine for me and parts of it are pretty cool. You can use the app do a lot of fine tuning if you want to, but the speakers sound great right out of the box. Also, I had a glitch in the USB connection and email tech support was very helpful. Problem solved. These speakers have inspired me to indulge my inner audiophile and inner geek. I’ve started collecting music all over again but this time in CD quality or high resolution FLAC files. I set up a uPNP/DLNA music server for just for my high resolution music. The KEF app allows you to stream high resolution music from Tidal and Roon, but I use my own server. It would be nice if they had Chromecast audio integrated, but adding a dongle does not cost much. If you haven’t listened to the KEFs then do so. You will want to take them home.

Great speakers, but the apps are terribly glitchy

I purchased these speakers about a month ago. They were fairly simple to set up. They play music from my TV's optical out, my computer's USB B to USB A, wirelessly and bluetooth. There is also a digital coaxial input and two RCA inputs. The speakers are compelling, musical, sensitive, and wonderfully accurate. A friend who usually is fairly disdainful about tech, was absolutely spell-bound by their sound quality. The two apps are as bad as other reviewers have warned. Right now, I'm battling the streaming app, since it doesn't seem to want to recognize the speakers, but the control app does. Clearly, this is a design fail. So, at the moment, I can't stream via bluetooth nor from the wireless. But I have in the past--so, I will continue to fiddle with things. But software glitches aside, I can STRONGLY recommend these speakers. It's an ALL IN ONE system--Speakers, amps and DACs, all in one tidy and handsome system. Bravo!

    Unbelievably Good Speakers

These speakers were recommended to me by a Best Buy in home consultant. I was looking for a decent home theater solution that could also handle music well. I had high expectations of these speakers, and they even exceeded my expectations! The sound quality is so lifelike and has amazing depth to it. The speaker/amp combo handles everything I throw at it with great class and clarity. I did end up adding an SVS subwoofer to my setup as the speakers are located in a pretty big room and the subwoofer just takes the quality of my music and home theater to another level. These speakers are not cheap, but when you consider you are getting a top class amp included in the price, in my opinion these speakers are some of the best that money can buy, and are just as good, if not better than speakers and amps that are far more expensive. My only criticisms would be that the remote and the app that you need to use in order to change the speaker settings and configuration could be a lot better, but I will not take a star off for this, as the sound quality of the speakers more than make up for these small flaws.
