I remember watching this version of KK with my father on TV growing up. I liked it better because it "had more action", a quality not lost on a 8 year old. While I now prefer the original B&W version, I was delighted when Scream Factory/Shout Factory announced this version was coming to Blu! Finally, after all these years! To top it off, it has a 3-hour TV cut, which I never saw, spread out over two 90-minute parts.

Great to see this misunderstood film get its second go around to new generation. Shout factory once again presents an awesome presentation of the 1970’s version of Kong in both its original film
and extended television version both in HD and widescreen. The
TV version is split in two chapters similar to the way it ran on the
movie of the week channel for those who remember those days.

Very good remake as this 1976 version of "King Kong" is worth having in any DVD collection if you like Monster Movies. Don't forget the sequel from 1986 "King Kong Lives" which takes place directly after the first one. I own all 4 of these which are the original 1933 classic, the 1976 remake, the 1986 sequel "King King Lives," and the 2006 remake as well. All great if you are a big King Kong fan like me and my late Dad...

A movie that is strong on nostalgia. I followed all of the articles in magazines and any media coverage I could dig up. My father gree up in the era of the original, this was my chance to have King Kong in my youth (17 years old). Introducing Jessica Lange was a stroke of luck (so beautiful) that just made the film more memorable.
This collector's edition brings all of that back. Such wonderful memories. Great to have the Twin Towers be prominent int the final act. I remember the exhilaration I felt as Long jumped from one to the other, a memorable moment.
Excellent presentation.
But this disc.

This comes with 2 disc. The theatrical version and the extended broadcast television version. I saw the extended version. And with that I saw two part episodes. The first episode is a one part. Then the second part is the conclusion of the movie. The extended cut has scenes never shown on Blu-ray. And this also comes with special features.

A solid worth wild investment if you don’t have this version of King Kong from 1976. So much better than I remember from my childhood. The effects for its time hold up well but have some cheesy moments. The cast is about as good as it gets in the 70s. The set is filled with extras as well as the TV version of the film.

Awesome bluray! Not only does it include the theatrical cut of the movie, which looks awesome, but it includes the version shown on network tv which has extra footage. It also has plenty of extras as well. Considering the set has two blurays, the price isn't bad. Overall, i was happy with my purchase!

I never knew there were deleted scenes of the timeless classic, but I was pleasantly surprised. Makes me wish they had shown this in theaters when I was a kid and saw it for the first time. I won’t spoil it, but getting this is worthwhile.

Once again, Shout Factory delivers a great presentation. The picture looks amazing and the movie is a lot of fun and quite moving in the end. It's great to see Jessica Lange in her first screen role, and the blu-ray is filled with extras.

King Kong the first Reboot in 1976! Great film with Rick Baker (Make- Up Artist for Ed Wood etc.) plays Kong! The suit designed & constructed by Carlo Rambaldi who created ET creature for Steven Spielberg! It's worth every penny!

Very entertaining.. The location on the Kong island was spectacular!
The movie was very well done. There is the sadness of seeing the twin towers as they were. The original movie although made in 1933 Shot in black and white, cannot be dismissed as probably the better of the two for entertainment value... But you will not be disappointed in this 1976 version!

It is not up to the 1933 version or the 2005 version, but is still fun. Jessica Lange wasn't quite up to her later acting standards, but you see flashes of her ability shining through and Jeff Bridges wasn't going for subtle, but he is still Jeff Bridges. If you are in a slightly campy mood, and don't mind the 70's effects you should enjoy this.

I’m a huge fan of this movie. The filming locations and story are both great, but unfortunately some of the acting and special effects are not (the Kong suit itself is awesome). The special features are all outstanding and the inclusion of the TV cut is a great addition. The transfer itself is also pretty great.

Watched the theatrical cut and really enjoyed it. Many films you watch when younger don’t always hold up years later, but this one does for me. John Barry’s score, the Kong suit, and Jessica Lange. This is a nice collectors edition. Love all the extra stuff on the TV cut (watching now). Glad to see my local Best Buy was carrying this.
