Has WOW factor but with some drawbacks/compromises

The WOW factor is definitely there but this fridge does have some drawbacks/things to get use to. Replaced 13 YO Samsung FrenchDoor FF that was working fine but drove us nuts with not enough ice production, incandescent lighting, dents and finger prints in SS that required frequent cleaning. Have been using this one just over a week and SS print-shield finish is great, ice production is surprisingly good, love the LED lighting, interior seems bigger than previous same size fridge and the drawers offer great organization options. The cons the ice maker on the left drawer kills all storage on the inside of that door, BUT with no icemaker inside you get more shelf space so that is kind of a wash. We use to put a gallon of milk and a gallon of OJ on the inside right door on one shelf but this fridge can only accommodate one per shelf and the spacing is tight so getting them in/out is a pain. Had to adapt by using the sliding shelf inside to free up space for tall stuff like milk/juice/soda. The lighting in the fridge is awesome but the lighting in the freezer is hidden/too far inside to be useful. I read and contribute to reviews a lot so I was concerned about the negatives on this fridge. Most to me appear to be from 2016 the year I think they started production, the more recent reviews are more positive making me think/hope they solved quality issues. I spent a lot of time aligning the doors/drawer faces to get it looking perfect. I do feel like it runs a lot/all of the time....I believe newer variable speed compressors will do this, so should not be a huge energy hog, but their energy star rating does show it consumes a lot of energy/year. The auto close doors are a nice feature but to get inside to the left side shelves you have to swing the door wide open to get around the ice maker and the auto close feature doesn't work if door is left open beyond 45 degrees. EXPENSIVE was another concern but the wow factor and you only live once thinking made me go for it. IF the reliability is not an issue (Consumer reports says it is) and I get 13+ years out of it like I did the Samsung than I'll forget the price. IF it starts breaking I'll regret the purchase. Too early to tell but for now Wife and I open the door and stare inside and say WOW!

Good Fridge, but Pricey & Low Ice Output

Lots of folks have already provided really nice, thorough reviews of this fridge. It is a good fridge, but I wish we had fewer complaints about it based on the cost. Most are minor, but at this price point, any complaint seems amplified. Number 1 is the very poor ice output. We have to keep it on max ice constantly and my husband is the only person in the house who uses the ice. This is disappointing and frustrates him constantly. He complains he is now on "ice rations". Also, the little tray in the water dispenser area fits very poorly and falls out constantly. There is no actual latch or other mechanism to keep it in place. My husband ended up putting some velcro strips down to hold it in place. The chrome handles are an odd design element for a black stainless fridge. This was a consideration for us in the purchase process and ultimately, we decided to just remedy this ourselves. We took the handles (which are not assembled onto the fridge at delivery) to a local certified cerakote applicator. They now look amazing and are no longer an inconsistent element against the black stainless. It is now sleek and beautiful; how it should have looked to begin with! See attached pics. We went from a side-by-side fridge to this French door design. We really like it overall but were surprised by the persistent challenge of storing taller items, which is not a factor with a side-by-side design. There is such limited space for taller things! We ended up entirely removing one of the shelves, something other reviewers have noted as well. This helped us achieve a more usable layout. The fit and finish of the fridge are excellent. The black stainless is beautiful and the gray interior is quite nice. We really like the soft-close doors and the 3 drawer freezer section is excellent - very easy to keep organized. It is easy to clean. On balance, we like most things about this fridge. The ice maker is the only major drawback.

Beautiful exterior cheaply made interior. If you’re accustomed to quality made long lasting products then skip this and buy a better made brand. Had a Kenmore Elite that was 14 years old. “Upgraded” to Kitchen Aid to match other Kitchen Aid appliances. Love the two extra exterior doors for deli and produce. The refrigerator cubic size is noticeably smaller so I lost a lot of shelf and freezer space. Just means less in groceries lol. Freezer is smaller but like the interior setup. Ice bucket is tiny. Why?! Be careful of inside glass shelves I wound up laying a piece of plastic liner on one shelf for glass jars to avoid scratching. Getting used to refrigerator and the noises it makes. I must say the first 3-4 days I was ready for Best Buy to pick it up! Other reviews indicated the same weird noises I heard. I have several videos of the noises that I can’t upload. Hopefully the kinks are worked out. Finally today I removed the plastic and moved into this refrigerator. The right door needs to be tightened - Yeap you read that correctly door not handle; it was shipped that way. The water dispenser ‘sprays’ water. Overall, I can’t believe the molded cheap plastic parts used for a $4,500 item. Blows my mind. I’m prepared for recalls and Total Tech service calls. Do yourself a favor don’t be fooled by the one extra exterior door compared to other brands. Buy a better quality brand. Next time I’m buying Sub-Zero Wolf. Good luck!

When I saw this in the store refrigerator was shocked by her beauty. Many storage drawers a spacious freezer. LED lighting is good, I love the individual light on the tablets. The color of the interior is charming. Eventhough I decided to buy my stove was Samsung. It was the perfect refrigerator to my large family. All that changed when making my first purchase of supermarket. It has three levels but two are too small. There is not a comfortable level to store containers of juices, their tablets only be configured in a way. I had to change the sizes of items that fit on the tablets. At the door where the ice basket is not enough to keep a bottle of ketchup space. Not much room for several different meals. Its exterior Stainless Steel material is of poor quality, I have a constant struggle with mold. It is stain very easily. It has two drawers in the center which came uneven and can not be fixed. The freezer is spacious but does frost. The handle of the freezer for no apparent reason detachment. In conclusion I would not recommend it for a large family like mine.

Very roomy, comfortable with storage finally completing my kitchen suite. concerns with design failures with the left door and drawer under the water dispensing. If water falls on the control pad the drawer it will cause a circuit breaker issue. The door does not remain opened As well another issue was a noice sounding like hammering for about a few minutes of term per day. I had it serviced it was also a design failure with the compressor switch in the back. Now I am noise free and enjoying my new fridge.

2years old now and all we’ve had is trouble with this refrigerator, since the beginning. It takes a full day to make ice. It freezes ice cubes in the ice maker part on top left side of refrigerator and leaks water all inside the herb part with the little sliding food and down the left door shelf. It also goes into the left drawer we use for cheese, that swims in melted ice water as well. I can put any items in the herb drawer because it swims in melted ice water. Water drips from ice maker seal into the box of ice cubes and freezes the ice reservoir door shut. They said it’s the seal so they replaced the ice maker door but it starts in the fridge part where the ice cubes are made. Ice builds up in the freezer above the top drawer. Do not buy this. We were so excited and paid over $5k when it first came out, that included install, geek squad 5yr protection $650. Horrible appliance.

Love this fridge! We originally purchased it from another vendor but they kept pushing out our delivery date by months - crazy time! Best Buy came through when their website showed we could pick it up the next day (it deliver it to our house in a months time). We needed a fridge asap so we placed an order for pick up and it was there! We brought a moving truck with a ramp and let me tell you - this fridge is HEAVY. 5 Best Buy workers came outside while it was snowing to help push it up the ramp on the dolly. Anyway. If you can have best deliver and install… I would recommend. It was a pain getting into the house. I did need to buy an I’ve maker hose from Home Depot to connect the water line to the fridge. I love this fridge! The middle doors are clutch. We are big sparkling water drinkers so it’s so nice having easy access drawers for that. The amount of food I can store while also being able to easily see what’s inside is great too. I’ve had this fridge 4 months now and it’s performed great! No issues with the ice machine or water dispenser. Knocks: the left door sits lower than the right door so they aren’t aligned. We had a kitchen aid tech come out and he said if it’s within 1/4 inch difference they don’t consider it a defect. Another knock is we have water bottles that have the oz numbers listed - the fridge says it’s dispensing a certain amount but when we measure it, it’s way off. We tried calibrating it but didn’t fix the problem. So we just don’t use that feature - it’s not important to us. **picture note - this was taken right after we installed it and we hadn’t put the bumper/guard on at the bottom yet.

Beautiful refrigerator, but it has some flaws

My wife begged for this fridge and mainly for a few reasons, 0) it was more beautiful than the Rock, 1) it had the daylight LED lights on the interior, 2) it had really cool looking sliding drawers on the inside, and 3) it had two extra middle slide out drawers that our kids each claimed as their own (because kids are selfish like that). However, I'm a bit more critical of it. First of all, the fridge had to sacrifice space in the "main cabin", if you will, and you can get a jug of milk and a 2 liter of soda in there but that is about it when it comes to large items. I will admit it is a beautiful looking fridge but honestly I am not sure of it's usefulness in our practical every days lives. I'm sure my wife would rush to the fridge's defense but I'm seeing down the road into my crystal ball that this model isn't the most practical use of the space. For instance, the two slide out drawers have little use to me unless you have kids like mine who each want their own drawer for their own snacks and random junk (I won't be surprised to find legos and poor frost bitten grasshoppers in there from my son...) then I'm just not so sure what the good of them would be. The freezer pull out drawer seems big at first but after filling it up with a few things I'm seeing a lack of useable space due to the three sliding drawers in the pull out freezer drawer. All those drawers/shelves take up valuable space! Also, the unit that was delivered to me had a full on freak out meltdown (poltergeist style) and the LED panel went haywire like a toddler ghost was sitting there pressing all the buttons making the thing freak out (and freak me out in the process). When it was first delivered the water dispenser was wonky and the water came out of the panel itself and not just the water spigot like a properly engineered water dispenser should. So I think the water dorked up the electronics and later in the night, as I was sleeping, the thing was doing unspeakable evil things. Thank the good Lord my dog woke me up. At first I was mad at the dog for waking me, but when I got up to go yell at the dog I found a frigging river of water streaming from the dispenser!! I yelled for my wife to come see the mayhem at 12:30am in the morning and banged on the panel to make it stop. It took three full adult size towels to soak up all the water from what I am now calling the "great flood". I turned the water off at the wall after that nonsense. I called BestBuy and told them to get that haunted refrigerator out of my new house and send me a new unit (which is scheduled for delivery next week). I will say that BestBuy was very responsive in settling this issue and making things right so in that regard I'm pleased.

This is a beautiful refrigerator, but it should be. I fear that it will only last 5 years. This is what the sales people are stating. I will be frustrated if it only lasts for 5 years and it was more than $3,000.00 Still getting used to having a bottom freezer rather than a side by side.

The fridge is nice. Very roomy. Lots of space and flexibility with shelves/bins, freezer, etc. Runs quietly. Feels sturdy. Cons: Stainless Steel is not EZ care. Fingerprints easily. Ice Bin is Small. Doesn't hold a lot of ice. Noisy when it churns out ice.

Dazzling platinum interior with great lighting! Bought this beautiful refrigerator in November just before Thanksgiving and have loved the depth of shelves as well as width of shelving compared to our old side by side refrigerator. I only gave 4 stars in my rating on the KitchenAid website, but now that I’ve used the refrigerator a little longer, I’m bumping my rating up to 5 stars on this website. This refrigerator is very deep and holds more than you would think. We had a fresh turkey, ham, and all the other fixings that were easily stored for our holiday feasting pleasure. The separate drawers for keeping our deli/cheese/butter organized and my veggies fresh (love the filters included w/attachments for different compartments) are absolutely a plus. It's been great to open only the drawers for our dairy products and veggies, rather than the larger compartment - seems to really keep everything fresh longer with enough organizational options to suit different uses over time (adjustable settings on the drawers). I also like the auto-fill feature for measuring out water for our kettle and other cooking needs. Although I had some misgivings about the short space for the door shelves on the right side, the space was adjustable and with the middle shelf now being used as our taller item shelf, it has worked out fine after all. The refrigerator meets our needs with such an elegant visual appeal! My only negative view involves one small design issue: the opening "button" for the ice maker is very hard to actually open and a bit inferior compared to all other components. However, perhaps I just need to get use to using it. Overall, this is a small thing compared to how much we love our new frig!

So I had been eyeballing this fridge for the last year, watching sales prices and just overall daydreaming about it. We finally decided to get it when another one of our appliances broke. It wasn't on sale and was quite expensive. When it was delivered, the doors had to be removed to get in the house and after a week of using it, I just didn't feel like the doors were sealing properly. When the delivery guys came back to deliver the other appliance, they checked it out for me (as recommended by geek squad) and they agreed, it wasn't sealing. So we had to have it exchanged out. Immediately you could notice a difference and that the first fridge must have been defective from the start. I absolutely love this fridge and the design extras! The only real complaint is that on the side of each shelf there is a notch outward making it impossible to align two shelves next to each other. It actually makes it very difficult to create a lot of space this way and so we removed one shelf. Instead we are now only using 3 of the 4 shelves which allows tons of space. **Also, my suggestion to anyone expecting delivery of this fridge to be VERY careful taking shrinkwrap off because they shrink wrap the shelves upside down so they fall immediately if you are not extremely careful. It will shatter and you will have glass everywhere (speaking from experience with the first delivery).

Moved to a new home that had kitchen aid appliances, all but the fridge. I am a long standing Frigidaire customer, but wanted appliances to match so we purchased this one at $3500 at Best Buy. Within 6 months I had to have it serviced. Something keeps freezing up under the crisper drawers and causes water to pool in the pan. Then everytime you open the drawer water and ice run out all over my WOOD FLOOR! We have also had the issues with ice and frost build up in the freezer. I have had the factory repair techs out twice now to defrost it and offer no explanation of a permanent fix. I am again needing it serviced for the same issue and its only been 1.5 years since purchase. Best Buy informs me that the first two repairs don't count since it was done by the factory and not them. What a load of Crap. I JUST WANT MY VERY EXPENSIVE FRIDGE TO WORK AS IT SHOULD. Not impressed with this fridge or customer service from Best Buy or Whirlpool.

I love this refrigerator. The 3 drawers in the freezer and the hidden pizza nook are so spacious. The extra drawers make it so much easier to manage my produce and lunch meats. The ice maker was a little slow to get going but once it is full it seems to do the job well. Oh! One more thing I love is the ice dispenser. You will have to buy one to understand why though!

The Best Buy Geek Squad rep came to our house to assure everything was compatible with our space, water lines, etc. That was a good experience. The refrigerator was delivered and set up as promised. This is an impressive refrigerator. It’s spacious and quiet. I especially love the soft close drawers and the LED lights on the edges of the shelves inside the refrigerator. The door controls are easy to operate with light pressure. Because we are on a reverse osmosis system, we did have to install a booster pump to make the ice maker/water dispenser work more efficiently.

I purchased this refrigerator on April 27, 2023. It was delivered on May 1st. I love the way it looks but it is not something I can recommend. 1) The doors on the first refrigerator could not be aligned using the process described in the owner's manual. Technician had to come out and look at it and ended up replacing. 2) 68 days into owning, I noticed that the ice maker and freezer were not working. Even the refrigerator would only cool to 58º F. I lost all my frozen food (about $400 in today's $). Whirlpool tech came out and said that the compressor was shot. I needed a new compressor, dryer and evaporator. I'm sorry but I am not going to accept a $3,500 refrigerator that can't make it a year before MAJOR components need to be replaced. Whirlpool refused to replace the unit even though their technician told me I would continue to have issues with this unit due to metal shavings likely throughout the cooling system. 3) Best Buy initially did not want to replace the unit but after several conversations with the store management, they decided to replace with a brand new unit. The new unit is cooling as intended but does make a lot of noise. I am very disappointed in this refrigerator. It was the most expensive floor model at Best Buy and looks like it's built like a tank. Unfortunately, IMO it's not worth it's weight in pennies. I do want to recognize Rockwall, Texas Best Buy Management. You took care of my situation and in doing so saved a long standing relationship. I will continue to shop with you and do my part to hold off Amazon from shutting your doors.

If you buy this fridge make sure you buy the protection plan! Ice build up seems to happen every so often. Unplugging it and thawing it out for a few days didn’t fix the issue and the geek tech had to take the inside top and bottom panels out and manually melt the ice on 4 separate occasions. After 4 1/2 years the ice maker stopped working and the cooling system is going out. Parts are on back order so after a year of dealing with the ice maker and cooling issues Best Buy has replaced my item. On a positive note….Geek squad is awesome to work with!
