I bought these for mostly for watching movies and playing video games on my system in my living room, which is not my main system for movies. My main system is located in my bedroom and consists of the Polk LSiM 707 series speakers (a $5000+ system). It sounds phenomenal! I didn't expect the Klipsch to come even close to being able to satisfy my needs for movies.
I WAS WRONG!
These speakers are absolutely stellar! They have room-shaking low end bass, with very clear highs and nice balanced mids. I love them. In fact, they are so great that I've decided to upgrade my den to the Klipsch HD Premiere Wireless system.
I had always known that Klipsch made excellent subwoofers, but these speakers have won me over.
If you get these, I promise that you will not regret your purchase. They sound like much more expensive speakers.
Did I mention how great they look without the speaker grilles? Don't even think about putting on the shields. They look bland with them on but are entrancing when the copper is revealed. It adds a nice sophisticated look to the room.
I highly recommend these speakers.

These speakers are amazing. They are super clear and sharp. They can handle anything you can throw at them. Great bass really fills the room. Best Buy will push definitive tech on you but I don't find them that amazing for the extra money. Klipsch makes amazing speakers don't think twice about buying these!

I've had these speakers for 7 months at the time of this review and they are very good! Klipsch speakers are known for their efficiency, like all their speakers they are not power hungry so you won't need an amp to push these at all. These NEW Reference Line speakers (not to be confused with the New Reference Premiere) are replacing the Klipsch Icon and Synergy Line. Some say that the only thing that was done to these speakers was painting the cones copper like the previous Reference Line, which is so not the case! Not only was the horn tweeter upgraded delivering a wider sound stage, but the crossover was updated as well. The dual 8" woofers are still IMG, but the copper was spun tighter for better mid/bass response. The only reason I didn't give these speakers 5 stars is because I was finally able to hear the RP-260F/280F and the sound clarity and stage is much better! However these speakers hold their own very well and sound better than both the Icon and Synergy Line. They are the only Klipsch speakers available in store, as the others are only available online. Do not judge these speakers based on what they sound like in the store as the environment and setting is no where close to ideal.
The clarity of these speakers sound just as good at low volume as it does at high volume, especially after you've broken them in. I have them hooked up to a Denon X2100w. I really pushed these speakers, the highs are warm and not as bright as the previous models they are replacing, giving them a more clean and natural sound. The mids sound lush when it should be and does not dominate the rest of the sound. I have my low end "bass" going to a JL Audio E112 sub, which I shut off to test the speakers. If you don't own a sub the 8" drivers can hold their own very well no worries, though movies like Gravity at high volumes will have you looking to purchase a sub (JL Audio,SVS,HSU). I doubt you'd want to damage the drivers before their time but lets face it, you won't be playing these that loud without a sub! Gaming on the PS4 is much more immersive and now I can establish what direction sounds are coming from without the use of headphones. Blu-ray movies sound very clear, distinct and life-like in size, scale and weight, nothing is missing. Music is crisp, clean and detailed giving your ears the bliss they crave. These speakers won't disappoint you. The Klipsch R-28Fs are great for anyone wanting a mid range home theater, your truly getting a quality speaker!

I bought these during the Black Friday sale for half off. For the price, $225 each, these are a great value. The speakers arrived within two days of placing my order to my door. If I had to purchase at regular price I may have considered spending a bit more to upgrade to the RP-280F model. So far I am pleased with the purchase. Bass is a little better than I expected after reading other reviews, and the highs are very good. I do use it in a 3.1 configuration currently so bass was not my primary reason for purchasing. The speakers seem efficient and clear at high and low volumes.

Moved into a new house and wanted to get a high quality home theater experience. Researched and countless sites recommended Klipsch. I ended up getting these bad boys along with a center channel, front firing sub, and ceiling speakers from Klipsch. I paired them with a Yamaha AV and man is the sound amazing. So clean and crisp. The lows. mids, and highs just balance out so well. These really provided the additional thump and bump that I was aiming for.

I had initially gone into Best Buy looking to buy a sound bar for my living room TV when one of the workers talked me out of it and said I would be better off waiting and building a real home theater set up. This was the beginning of a wonderful journey into the world of home audio.
These tower speakers were the first piece that I purchased as I found them on sale over Thanksgiving weekend. I have them running off of the Denon AVR-S500BT for the receiver (picked up shortly after the arrival of the speakers). These speakers sounded amazing from the moment I plugged them in but now that I have more of the 5.1 system in place (subwoofer and center channel) they are truly showing what they are capable of doing. The highs are very clear and crisp while the lows offer just the right amount of boom that I do not consider them to be muddy. Everything that comes out of them sounds wonderful whether it be regular TV, music, movies, video games. Everything I have played on these has sounded great. I'm looking forward to having all of the pieces broken in after running for a while.
For someone who is looking at upgrading their current system or taking the plunge into home audio I highly recommend these speakers. If you are new to the home audio world as I was, my only recommendation is to just jump in and talk to people, you definitely won't regret it! Also consider Best Buy as a great resource because the prices are fair and with the Best Buy Credit card you can earn points that you can issue as certificates towards future purchases or utilize their financing plans.

I've chose these speakers to replace my pair of Bose 601s for my home theater. These speakers are voiced matched to my Klipsch RP-250C center channel speaker. This setup is powered by a Sony STR-1060DN.... Amazing!!! Night and Day difference from my previous Bose set-up. The highs are crisp but not harsh, and plenty of mids and lows. Got a sweet deal on Black Friday for these speakers... $500 for the pair.

First of all let me add a little background, i tried almost all types of home theater systems including Bose (i own a 3-2-1 and very satisfied with it) but for some reason the output was never enough when i checked them out in my basement.
I purchased (a pair of) these speakers (R28F) in thanks giving sale for half off, and hooked them up to the receiver (Yamaha TSR-7790BL 7.2 Channel Receiver) as soon as i reached home, and without any pre-amping i slowly increased the volume to max, and i could tell all the floor vibrating, more over i was not able to pin point a single point where the speakers where unable to handle the loudness, in short what ever type of music i threw at them they were like "bring it on". Then i did all the customized settings and pre-amping and as much as i can tell, the speakers are crystal clear in sharpness and have enough bass that i dont need a sub-woofer, as a matter of fact i did buy a yamaha sub (100w) the next day i purchased these bad boys, but gave it back within a week because the sub was not adding anything to the already awesome sound effect.

As expected these speakers are incredible. I have them hooked up to a newly purchased denon receiver thats pushing about 85 watts per channel. These speakers could handle much more but have great sound at this level. They produce great highs and lows and at some points sound like I have a sub hooked up, but I dont. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone.

Great clear sound. I am 3 speakers into a theater build out. These are powered by a Denon 7.2. Currently running with a Klipsch center channel. Even without a sub these shake the room during movie scenes with base. They can handle a ton of power, dare I say more than you even need at home.

I wanted to write a longer review for these speakers as I found a lack of reviews for these while on the fence.
Normally, I'm a regular magnolia customer, but I decided to give these a shot because of the sale this last Cyber Monday. Although, in my opinion, these speakers should be placed in the magnolia display rather than in the awful standard demo areas.
In any case, I'm not normally a fan of Klipsch. I find their tractrix horn technology a little too in your face, and generally compensating for the lack of clarity and imaging by overproducing noise. Sure the brand has always created very efficient drivers, but set them next to a Martin Logan and you'll probably hear what I mean. (depending on the taste). I won't claim to be an audiophile, using some sort of mac dedicated amp, but I am a very picky consumer when it comes to my electronics. That being said, to illustrate my complete non-bias, I am VERY impressed with these speakers. These things do not act like the normal Klipsch that I am used to (that being the normal Reference II series).
What I'm working with and why I was considering these:
Amp/receiver: Pioneer Elite VSX-80 ($699 MSRP - 499 on sale at BB)
Previous Front R/L: Martin Logan Motion 4 ($500 MSRP)
Center: Martin Logan Motion 6 ($299 MSRP)
Previous Rear: Onkyo 100w hand-me-downs
Subwoofer: Boston Acoustics PV-600 (MSRP 299)
XBR 55" 4k TV
The idea was to replace the hand-me-down rear channels by moving the motion 4's to the back. As I started to build this system, I found that every time I would decide on a speaker I would end up in magnolia spending more money. To make a long story short, this was the background for the Martin Logan's, since I'd set the mid-priced speaker next to an ML and be left with a clear choice. However, I then found myself a little boxed in. Almost all audio purists will tell you that matching your speakers is a huge MUST, and frankly, I really began to understand this when the center motion 6 paired with the motion 4 fronts. So, logic following to replace the fronts, that meant I should be looking at the motion 40's for front L/R...? I found myself asking why I really needed to pay $2,000 for speakers on a system that already sounded great. Boxed in as I felt, the simple goal was to get some floor standing speakers because the motion 4's could not handle the low frequency enhancement (LFE) and high power. I had to turn the LFE down to -10 and compensate with the Sub crossover or face nasty sounding distortion.
With the speakers on sale for Cyber Monday, I thought I would give these a try. Heck, if I didn't like them I'd have no trouble taking them back - something I made sure of with the Best Buy folks. Problem is, I don't want to take them back now. Even if they weren't on sale.
I am quite amazed with how well these paired with the Martin Logan center. I was really concerned that the timbre and tractrix would sound very different from the folded motion. Oddly, that was not the case (or at least as noticeable as I thought) . The clarity is on a very close level with the motion 6 center, and the imaging is simply wonderful from these. Despite the placement close to my walls and facing straight, the R-28F's really expanded the sound into a huge area. The performance was life-like in size, scale and weight, ultimately expanding the sound in a sort of blended arc of power from the TV. There is clear coherence across the entire frequency range, giving a very impressive sharpness and realism that reminded me a lot of Martin Logan's. However, the R-28F's do lack a tad of a "dynamic prowess" and detailed clarity compared to the ML’s. But this is only really evident when you come to major effect scenes. At the same time, where the ML's have a slight edge on detailed clarity, the R-28F's have the edge for a sense of warmth and body. The midrange has great body and is only barely overshadow by what is a great bass performance. Needless to say, with LFE set back to 0, there is no such thing as distortion.
One feature about these that I was not unfamiliar with is that these speakers are very efficiency, so as for power these things are....well... intense. So I did have to re-run the auto setup on the receiver and manually push a tad more to the rear channels in the settings. This was only to keep the motions 4’s from being washed out from the front channels with loud scenes.
All-in-all, I'll be keeping these puppies, only upgrading years down the line if need be. Can't wait to see how these speakers break in.
