Worked as advertised. Easy to use. My old system took 2.5 hours to transfer. It was very slow. Now my new system is blazing fast!

My advice is to follow the instructions very carefully and to make sure that there is nothing that will interrupt the transfer which takes a long time to complete. Any "notification" (yes you HP and its users) or screen saver or "update" (yes you Microsoft) will crash the transfer and can make you start over. At the least it will stop the transfer and you will lose time until you come back to restart it (it's like watching paint dry or grass grow if you want to sit there and stare at it). However the final result is that everything gets transferred (except the encrypted or locked to your device stuff (yes you Apple and iTunes). The money and time is well worth not having the frustrations of moving all the settings and favorites and everything else. Given the huge number of variables involved LapLink has done an outstanding job on this product.

Fairly good product. It does not measure up to its own claims. It failed to transfer Microsoft 365 from the old computer to the new. The program warned me to remove trial copies of Microsoft 365 from the new computer before proceeding. I complied and now suspect that was incorrect. So, useful but do not expect it to be as all-encompassing as claimed

I purchased this product after buying a new MSI Gaming Laptop. I had had my 17 inch Dell XPS 3D Laptop since 2011 and was time to upgrade. However, I needed a way to move the contents of my dell Hard Drive over to the new MSI Laptop and I had considered other software but settled on PCMover. It was so easy to migrate to the new MSI.
I would highly recommend this software for anyone looking to move data, files, settings, etc from a older computer to a new one.

I recently had to move to a new computer due to hardware issues with previous computer. My previous computer was partitioned and Laplink PC mover moves everything to Drive C. The partioned files were put into a folder on drive C naming it Drive(Letter of partition-foler name, for example "Drive_E". Works pretty well as most programs recognize that as the link. However not all programs worked which ment reinstalling or changing settings. In some cases had to uninstall before reinstalling. Another problem was required Serial Numbers even though valid on previous computer did not work. Had to get software providers permission after explaining to update. A number of links had to be updated such as documents, excel, etc. were not found since they had moved from original file location. Still all in all was better than trying to make the move manually. I have many programs and files.

Very Valuable Utility but...

This is a very valuable utility to move software to a new PC, but beware of two critical items: 1) Many software programs are locked to the hardware of your old PC. You will need activation codes, serial numbers or other information to be able to use your programs on the new PC. Be SURE that you have determined all license data on the old pc and tested all software on the new PC before trashing the old PC. 2) Install PC Mover on both PC's while they are still connected to Internet! Check for latest version and install it BEFORE trying to connect the two PCs. Once the newest version is installed on BOTH PCs then disconnect from the internet. You may need to leave your NEW PC connected to the web before it will allow going forward.
Once you have met all the restrictions and have the latest software let it transfer and all will be ok - EXCEPT for moving software licenses to the new PC

Used this to bring over files and software programs from an XP computer to Windows 8, couldn't have been easier!!! The mover lets you know which files/programs will go over smoothly, which ones won't and which may present a problem. It allows you choose what you want to do regardless of the recommendation. Although it estimated 17 hours to complete, it was done in 2 hours. My XP computer and 8 computer share a monitor/keyboard/mouse and it was easy to use through the KVM switch. Would recommend to anyone and price was fantastic!! It also has a shredder if you want to kill the hard drive for which you moved.

It worked the way it should. Only problem, it can only be used once. You have to purchase another license if you want to use it on different computers.

I bought a new HP pavilion windows 10 at Best Buy to replace my 7 year old Dell Laptop Windows 7
I didn't download or read the guide book, just jumped right in with download & preparation for transfer
I had an issue downloading the software update, I called the 24/7 help line, the support person remote accessed into my computer, updated software was downloaded, and ALL contents of old computer was transferred
The transfer cable was an Ethernet Cable between the two, transfer took bout 2 hours transferring bout 150 gb
On my old lap top I was running Office 2003 with an Office 2007 compatibility patch, Office transferred just fine
Software was worth every penny I paid for it!

Took 5 hours to migrate everything to a new laptop, instead of the 15 hours program estimated. Program worked just as it said it would. Was pretty effortless. Had trouble with a couple programs working on Windows 7 (was on Vista) so had to upgrade them, but, oh well. Leave yourself a couple hours of prep work though, downloading upgrades on windows, eliminating files you really don't need (and thus don't need to move), etc.

Instructions were easy to follow. Used the customization option to move only what was needed from old to new computer. Transfer was completed in a couple of hours on .5G of data. Much easier than what we had done before to transfer files.

After three hours of trying to clone my old drive I had to call tech support. They remotely connected to my computer to configure the program and tried to get me to buy other services. They did get my computer configured to clone my old computer to my new computer. I was however unable to clone the drives because my new computer had two hard drives. The C drive was a solid state and smaller than the old C drive from my old computer. The program is not designed to clone to other than the C drive. Even though the D drive in the new computer was 2 terabytes the program would not clone to it.
I have not tried this program to back up files, That portion may or may not work.

I've been attempting to utilize PC Mover to migrate progs, settings, etc from a Win 7 PC DAW to a Win 10 PC, built to replace it, since October, 2020 (It's now May, 2021.) Each and every time I've used their software, I received a BSOD - System Exception Not Handled (no driver listed) which never resolves. None of the Win 10 Safe Mode options worked, each sending the machine into a BSOD loop, ad nauseum. I reached out to both Laplink and Microsoft (MS) for support and none of their suggestions helped. I then searched MS support, and others, with little success. I set up for a last try at using their software, only to find that their license flagged as used and was no longer available, despite the fact that I used the same 2 PC's (only) each and every time. I reached out again to Laplink and was told that 1) they would no longer reset the license (they'd had no problem for every prior reattempt), 2) their records showed this license was used for multiple PC's (curious) and they refused any further help as my license was for 1 PC to 1PC, though they'd sell me a new license to replace the one which hadn't worked in the first place. It must be noted that I likely made multiple errors due to my inexperience with Win 10. That's understandable and excusable. Laplink's and Microsoft's minimal and ineffective support and their cavalier attitude towards a customer isn't. I'm now out the cost of the program, a few hundred hours of my time, and my machine is still not usable as intended. I'm bringing it in for Geek Squad's help and will never purchase any Laplink program again.

This came with an ethernet cable which didn't work for my setup. tried using a universal file transfer cable - also didn't work. Since the Laplink cable was not available locally, had to order it. (Going through the internet was EXCRUCIATINGLY slow as well.) Once I had the Laplink cable, it was a piece of cake to use, and the job was complete in less than 4 hours. The only thing I would change for those who don't have two wireless internet machines is to have the software come with the laplink cable. Had this been the case, it is a 5 star product.

PCmover point blank, makes transitioning to a new computer a breeze. This is the second time I've gotten a new computer and purchased PCmover at the same time. It is simply the best way to move your programs, files, and important things from your old computer to your new computer. If it can't be moved, the program shows you that. But most everything transferred easily. Very impressed and will always use this software when a new computer is purchased.

I used PC mover in the past & it does what it advertises, but be ready for it to take all day if you have a lot of data to move, but it does make a mirror image of your old PC.

Purchases software to transfer contacts and software from one computer to the other. Software worked really well and was easy to use. It was well worth the money because it made it so easy to be up and running very seamlessly on my new computer. And even transferred almost every single program over not just data
