I had decided to buy this for my 3 yr old for Christmas. He loved it, played with it every day. Then it was dropped on the floor and the screen shattered. He didn't even have it for a whole month. LeapFrog has their own warranty but I found out it doesn't cover the screen mostly because the screen cost more to replace (with the cost of labor/service) added then the cost of the device itself because it's an LCD screen. For a device that's recommended for ages 3-9, I think there should some type of screen protector in place if they won't fix it. The device itself is a lot of fun and the games are educational. If you purchase this device for the younger end of the age recommendation, I'd suggest investing in some type of screen protector too

I researched tablets for my 4 year old and 3 year old grandchildren. I did not believe they needed to be on the internet, but wanted a educational tablet that they would see as FUN! The Leappad 2 does all of that... BUT one of them locked up and quit working in less than 24 hours of use. LeapFrog said they would stand behind it but luckily was able to exchange it. The other one was dropped in the car (not down the stairs or on the concrete but in the backseat of the car) and the screen shattered. And this was with one of the LeapPad Gel Skins on it to help protect it. If it is made for preschoolers, it should be BUILT for preschoolers to USE! And the price of the 'accessories' is another issue. Even the charger comes separately and not at a small price... There are lots of downloads and games and apps avaiable at a wide range of prices, but the majority of them are a little on the pricey side, too. My grands love them.... and I think they are the right educational, fun toy for the ages... I just wish the LeapPad was better constructed!

It is built well, very durable. Easy to use. Although it is a very good product and worth the money spent, the cost of additional programs is expensive considering children will grow out of them fairly quickly.

    KIDS LOVE IT

My kids love it and want to play with it all the time. It takes 4 AA batteries and I seem to replace them approx after every 12 hours of use. I'm just using Rayovacs. The apps it comes with will only entertain them for so long, so be prepared to get that credit card out to download some more. You can get apps from anywhere from $5-$25 each. You may want to get headphones with it as the repetitive songs and sounds can be maddening to the average grown up. I'm a bit of an anti video game mom but this "tablet" is fun for them to play and I am happy because they are learning. We've had it for almost a month now and I do not regret this purchase.

My son loves electronics just as much as the next kid...the leap pad holds his attention and actually teaches him math, letters and so much more. He gets to pick his favorites like umi-zoomi. Its great to throw in his bag and take anywhere. It is easily downloadable so we dont have to worry about cartridges. The option of cartridges is nice as well so that grandma can give him gifts! Overall, everyone is highly pleased...especially my son.

The Leapad is great for the kids who like to learn or like to play games. My daughters have been learning a great deal while playing with their games. My two year old drops it a lot and my three year old washed hers. The only real damage done was having to replace the rechargeable batteries. The battery life is not the best so I am glad it has an automatic shut off for when kids stop playing it and but don't turn it off.

I bought these for my nephews. My son already has one. They are great, offer good games, and have been durable. The only negative is that it sucks up batteries. I highly recommend good rechargeable batteries or get the wall plug.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the LeapPad2. My 3 year old uses it everyday and is learning how to read and write. The device is small enough for him to hold, but has a good size screen. My only gripe is the price of the apps, however, I have found discounted cartridges at retail stores.

This tablet keeps my 3 year old daughter entertained and engaged at the same time. She does not understand a lot of the apps there but just fiddles around the controls and some games for now. Its better than giving her the iPad or iPhone. The free apps that come with it are sufficient to get started and get to know the tablet first hand.I bought it primarily so that she can read some interactive books and develop a liking for the real ones down the line. The set up was a breeze and the online website for hooking up the tablet to your PC is also very easy to understand. I would rate this as a good investment for a toddler but it can be equally used by older children.

I bought it for my grandson and ever since I bought it it's been a great tool for him to use his imagination and his brain altogether and since he is so fast it has been easier for him, so maybe we soon need to move into bigger and better things

Gave this to my 3 year old grandson. He loves it. He has no problem navigating through the software and playing the games we purchased. I highly recommend buying the rechargeable battery pack that goes with the pad because it can go through batteries quickly.

My 3 year old daughter LOVES her leap pad! I barely took it out of the box and handed it to her and she began exploring the intuitive touch screen. She can take picture, draw, and there are a ton of educational games that are helping her to read and write.

If you're looking for a learning tablet for your youngest siblings this is the way to go. This one has exclusively child learning content. So any game or app you download it'll be a learning thing and all those thing you can monitor from a iPhone app to keep track of your kid progress. Great price. On special less than $75
