Better night's sleep, drowning everything else out

I have always needed some sort of steady noise in the background to help me sleep. Typically I have a box fan, ceiling fan, or circular fan running in my bedroom, but when on the road it is not the most convenient thing to travel with. I have tried using apps on my phone which usually lead to hearing the loop sound or other interrupting sounds that end up disrupting my sleep. Nothing like a notification coming through when you can't mute the phone as you need the sound. Also, the AC in a hotel usually has a mind of its own, cutting on and off at random times. However, the LectroFan is small enough to pack away and provides a perfect, non-stop sound that sounds very realistic. So realistic that I could have sworn that there was air coming from the direction of the sound. It also has some weight to it that helps keep it in place on your nightstand.
There are 20 different sounds that can help meet anyone's desires, as listed in the picture. These sounds range from the sound of leaving an old TV on to large industrial fan, like you're sleeping in a warehouse. After listening to all of them I almost wished they had a diesel generator sound to remind me of my times out in the field during training exercises.
The buttons are far enough apart and simple enough that it is easy to make changes in a dark room. There is a 60 minute timer that can be increased per 60 minutes to 120 and 180 that I do not use, because when the sound stops, that is when I wake.
The other thing that this device can be used for is drowning out noises while you are awake. When used in an office or waiting area, the volume can be increased to a point that you can barely hear yourself talk over it. Yet, at the right level and setting it can prevent anyone else in the area overhearing a conversation in the other room. However, set the volume too high and the sounds start to crackle.
Though the design is simple it looks a bit dated. With the heptagon shape, very sharp edges, large grey buttons, and only available in white and black may limit where you want to put this. But, at the same time, it is really a type of device that is meant to be heard and not necessarily seen. Also, the power that the LectroFan uses is standard USB 0.5 amp, 1watt. So, if you happen to be short on plugs, or forgot an adapter, any powered USB port will essentially work. So, use that one outlet for your laptop and plug the LectoFan into the computer and drown out those distracting random sounds.

Fan/Whitenoise Machine with a great little speaker

LectroFan
The unit is about the size of an Amazon puck, The box contents include the unit, a power cord that has one end that’s a usb so you can plug it into a docking station or a plugin that accepts usb. The unit will work for American or European 100-240 volts or 50/60 hz respectively.
You can choose between 20 sounds (10 fan/10 white noise)
The speaker is plenty loud and can be adjusted up/down at 1db increments.
There is a timer that can be set from 60+ minutes.
OBSERVATIONS:
Unit feels sturdy, not a cheap light plastic feel. Rubber feet keep it in place.
There are only 3 buttons on the device, Power, Volume and fan/white noise.
After powering on unit and cycling through all sounds, the fan noises to me sound somewhat similar, they are different but a few sound the same just louder. The white noise is the same just different DB’s the higher pitch ones are almost ear piercing depending on the volume.
Depending on the room size one could use this for privacy if placed near the door. It is supposed to make conversation almost unintelligible to others.
I tested the unit all 10 white noise and concluded that from my voice was hard to hear up to 10 feet away in an open room. In a closed office or cubicle farm this may be better. However, this could also make cubicle farm people nearby complain about noise from machine.
On the fan side (which I would use more)
Fan noise are nice to drown out my teenagers phone conversations and tv noise when in bed.
Of the 10 sounds available I like the bigger deeper sounding fans. I really liked the Oscillating fan, the noise gets louder then softer to make you think it is indeed oscillating.
In conclusion: This is a nice little set up for those who could use semi private conversations or hide other unwanted noise. The speaker is loud and never distorts.
There is not a screen to let you know what number of fan/white noise you are on. You have to cycle through to you hear a whoop to know you are back at the start. In the future it would be nice to have a small screen to see this.
When you power down unit as long as power is supplied it will remember your settings. If un plugged it resets.
Also in the future if they would add a line in to play music on the awesome speaker would be great. Also the addition of a usb to charge phones would make this a very nice multi use unit.
This unit seems to be a very good quality device.

Its a very compact and good looking device. It has a 60 min timer, in case you want to use it to just fall sleep. It has two settings for noises (fans and white noise= like the noise on a tv that hasn't captured signal from the air). I like using the fan noise more, as it relaxes me and I fall sleep within a few minutes. The white noises were too much for me, but YMMV. I like that it has several pitches for both of them, and you can also control the volume.
Its very small, and fits perfectly on my night stand, next to my phone wireless charger!

A Necessity for Apartment Living

I've been using the LectroFan for a while now and I love it. I need the noise of a fan or I can't sleep at all. I hear every little sound and get zero sleep. I used to use an actual fan, even in the dead of winter. Over the course of time it started to rattle and vibrate which does the opposite of helping me sleep! When I traveled I don’t need to worry about bringing my fan with me. I need to have just a smooth but loud fan sound and that's exactly what this LectroFan gives me.
I had tried some phone apps first, but they all had bad sound quality and breaks in the sound loop were very distracting. I knew I didn't want a machine with sound loops, and from what I read this one would not have that. Again, correct. I cannot detect any sound looping or breaks.
This little machine is like magic. You have 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds. I prefer the fan sounds, and there are so many to choose from that you will definitely find one that you like. Given that the speaker covers the top of the unit and points up the sound is somehow magically spread out over the room and is much more realistic than a tiny little phone speaker or front facing electronic speaker.
The biggest feature for me is the volume I can achieve with this machine. If I can't get my fan sound loud enough it won't help me sleep. This machine CAN get loud enough
I love all the fan choices you get with LectroFan. I'm not one to use birds, or the ocean, or rain, or any sounds like that, so this unit is perfect for me But trust me, it works!! I am totally happy with it and recommend the LectroFan highly if you like fan or white noise sounds and want them good and loud!

Better Than I Thought

I ended up liking this little thing a lot more than I thought I would. I have used white noise apps on my phone in conjunction with a speaker and I didn't expect this to sound any better, but it does. The sound quality doesn't blow away the phone and speaker setup, but it's more even, which I am guessing is because of the fact the speaker is facing up and probably distributing the sound better. If you are a person who needs something like this to sleep I think it's a worthwhile purchase, especially if you are using a white noise app and just having your phone play the sound. Having the dedicated device is a lot easier than breaking out the whole phone and speaker deal.
Things I Liked:
The sound is very good and can get pretty loud for how small this thing is. You get a range of white noise options, as well as different types of fan sounds. I settled on Brown Noise #5, which is the 'darkest' of the white noise options and it did seem to have a positive impact on my sleep. Once you turn the speaker on you can set it on a sleep timer as well in 60 minute increments, which is nice. The thing itself is pretty small and inconspicuous as well and since the speaker is facing upward you can tuck into a corner or behind something and still get the sound.
Things I Didn't Like:
I wish there was some kind of display or indicator on it. There is are white noise and fan noise buttons that just cycle through the sounds without an indication of what each sound is. The manual does give you the list of sounds and you do get a little chime to indicate you've come back to the beginning of the selection, but some kind of knob and/or LED to give you a better sense of where you are would be nice. This is only a minor annoyance for me and I imagine most people as you will probably settle on the sound you like best when you first set it up and leave it from there.

Great for tuning out background noises, No loops!

The LectroFan is the first of these "white noise" machines that I think I will actually be able to use. It does not seem to loop its noise (being generated by an algorithm rather than a sound-clip), which oftentimes would be an annoyance of these kinds of devices (you can always tell). I like the selection of 20 "noises" to choose from.
Most of the white nose sounds remind me of the old analog antenna TV's when you change channels and see the "snow" on the screen. One or two of the white noise options remind me a bit of a steady heavy rainstorm. The white noise sounds seem to go from lower pitch range to higher. I understand these are supposed to also help with Tinnitus, I believe I have that (a steady ring in the ears) though I have never seen a doctor about it.
The fan noises, I have one on now as I've been writing this, you can actually tune out fairly easily (at a low volume)--- I hear it but it does not grab my attention (I think that's important for sleep). My hope is that this will help me sleep by blocking out early morning noises, like cars on a nearby street or other people waking in the morning in the house.
If you turn the volume up on this thing, it gets fairly loud, which is great if you need privacy for example. For my uses, a quiet but audible sound is probably what I'll use most.
It will probably take me a while to find a 'favorite' sound, but they're pretty much all usable.

This works great for sleeping at home or while traveling. This is about half the size of our older fan style white noise machine and has a lot more settings giving you better control over volume and the type of white noise that works best. Perfect to help drown out background noise of elevators and people in other hotel rooms when traveling.
Super simple to setup and use.

I own both this LectroFan as well as a Marpac. Both make fantastic white noise sound, making sleep better by masking the small disruptions that may keep you awake. I got the LectroFan for travel, as it is a lot smaller than the comparable Marpac unit. It generates the noise electronically, instead of using a motor, but I have found they both can generate consistent and similar white noise. This little guy also runs via a USB-A plug to any 5w+ power supply, making it easy to move around and travel with.

I have used many white noise generators but none have come close to emulating the deep, rich sound that this one does. In the past, my clock radios had this function built in to it and did a mediocre job at best. The "LectroFan" is the "PREMIUM" white noise generator of choice in my opinion.
The controls are simple and the design is minimal. the only thing that I would consider a negative is the operation of the delayed shut off. Each push of the button signifies 60 minuets. A small display or voice notification would be nice to verify that you have actually set the proper timer.
Overall this unit performs flawlessly. I give it 5 stars.

Neighbors who create disturbances (parties, shouting & foul language, aggression, mischief, loud stereos & games, stomping, etc.) late into the evenings and on weekends, are selfish and inconsiderate. When their crude habits interfere with one's peaceful enjoyment to their home, the stress can be overwhelming and very uncomfortable. I want to be clear: there is no way to fully mask, for example, "creaking floorboards", "wire crackling", heavy-footed stomping, door-slamming, pounding. However, this appliance helps tremendously. It is portable, so I can use it anywhere I choose in my home. It has a wide range of volume settings; along with a variety of sound styles ranging from deep to high tonal qualities. It is an excellent accompaniment to my life balance and health maintenance practices amid some folks who have very little consideration for my quiet, unimposing lifestyle.

I bought to replace running a fan all night. I've used for a month or so and really like it. I've used one of the fan sounds and one of the white noise sounds. There is a good variety of both. The volume can go very loud or soft depending on what you like. It drowns out the neighbors barking dog on Saturday mornings when I like to sleep in. I might buy one for my friend who also needs to sleep with a fan at night. Also, it's a lot smaller than it looks in the picture on line which is great. It's small enough to take with you when traveling.

Over the years I have had different sound machines/air machines. This one is by far the best I've had. I'm getting a sounder sleep and apparently wake up more rested than ever. Honestly, I only use the white noise. It works for me. but with that said There are many other sounds available for you to try. Bottom line. very pleased with device.

Zero looping. 10 different fan sound choices. 10 different white noise choices. Volume adjusting. Can stay on all night, just like I need it to. This machine is worth EVERY penny. I sat it on the floor right by my bed and got a full night's sleep from the first time I used it. I love this product! It will be going with me, the next time I need to travel.

I can only sleep with a loud fan noise. I was sick of lugging a fan in my carry on when traveling, especially with a layover. I read the reviews on this product and they were all positive stating that it is loud and the fan noises were good. The reviews were correct. This has 10 different fan noises and white noise options. I found a fan noise that I liked and it did the trick, it can go very loud, I had it on mid volume and it gave a great noise. It's is very small and light and very good for traveling. I would highly recommend it.

We wanted something to block outside noises that were frightening our pets as they are getting older. This does the job fine except for loud thunder or fireworks which nothing can block out. The volume is easily adjustable and the various sounds are easy to select.

I have been somebody who sleeps with a fan by my bed for years. I cannot sleep in silence as my mind tends to focus on every little sound I hear. I will even take my fan with me when traveling to ensure I get a good night of sleep at whatever hotel I may be visiting. Being a warm natured person, the fan has never bothered me but my fiance has had to “deal with it” for the past few years. He hates the draft and cool air being blown around the room from the fan, more-so during the winter months.
I wasn’t sure if this device would work for me as other sleep noise devices in the past have been a disappointment. They tend to cycle through a sound then repeat it after 5-10 minutes or so, which did not work for me.
The LectroFan has been fantastic! I’ve slept with it for 2 nights now and have nothing but good things to say about the sounds it produces. There is no cycling or looping of a track as it generates the sounds via some sort of internal programming for a constant uninterrupted sound.
There are 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds from which to make your selection and I was pleasantly surprised to find a fan noise that matches my old fan perfectly. All of the fan noises are different and mimic a wide array of commonly heard fans. The white noise sounds are all pretty much the same sound increasing in pitch with each selection. The lowest white noise setting sounds similar to a fan, in my opinion, and the highest white noise setting resembles the snow/static of a TV channel without a signal. I can see how this would be great for private conversations such as in a therapist's office. The fan noise sounds so real that I have found myself forgetting there is no fan on my nightstand anymore and when I don’t feel a cold breeze I remember that I have this amazing little noise machine.
The unit is very easy to operate and comes with easy to read instructions. The power cord has a USB connection on one side so you can plug it directly into a USB port if available or use the included USB power cube wall adapter. The other side of the power cord is a traditional connection that plugs into the base of the unit and tucks into a groove to guide it out of the bottom rear of the unit. The LectroFan can be used all night long or you can set it on a 60 minute timer. The volume can go very loud, much louder than I will ever need. The unit itself is very small and light, it is approximately 4 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall, making it easy to pack into a suitcase and very discreet on my nightstand.
When sampling through the available noises there is a tone that will play once you have reached the first sound. I do wish there was a bit of a better system so that I can remember which noise I like, without having to count how many times I’ve pressed the button but it does remember the last sound you selected and will play that sound each time you turn it on until you select a new sound. The only other feature I think would be nice is a remote but it’s definitely not a deal breaker without one.
Overall I am extremely pleased with the LectroFan and the only time I will ever use a fan at my bedside again is on hot summer nights when the air conditioning just isn’t cutting it.

This noise machine has white noise and fan noise settings. My wife likes the fan sounds, and they sound pretty realistic. The volume gets pretty loud too. This is the best noise machine we've owned by far.
