Fun game that keeps he humor of past Lego games and is fun to play and explore with all the different characters. I like the fact that if I don't have a character I need to get to certain collectibles I can "rent" them using Lego bricks instead of shelling out real money for characters I don't care that much about.

You'll love this game for its nostalgic recall of some famous titles like ghost busters, back to the future, Simpsons and so many more. Even thought the age on the box is 7 to 14, I can tell you as a 50 something gamer its a fun game to play. I especial enjoy the feature music of each theme world and character.

I love this game already, I've been playing for about a day when I decided to pick up more Lego's and one set even came with bonus level's! I love how you can put together the lego's, put them on the transporter and they appear in age to play as! I would defiantly recommend this game to other people!

I have been a big fan of lego games for a long time. This dimensions experience is AWESOME. Very well done even with a few glitches here and there. This universe is massive but if you want to see it, you have to pay for it! With the gamer card 20% off from bestbuy makes things a little reasonable.

I was a huge Disney Infinity fanatic, but this has totally raised the bar. The game is entertaining and the humor is for children and adults a like. It's a great game and the ability to change out characters and have a multitude of characters and vehicles is a huge plus. Highly Recommend this!!

This game is basically skylanders meets legos. My son who is 8 loves this game because he loves both skylanders and legos. Just as with skylanders the game and figures can be pricey. We managed to get both the game and a lot of the figures on sale. It also helps to have gamer unlocked. I am giving it 4/5 because of the price, but other than that it is inline with all the other lego games which are pretty decent.

I love legos. I love video games. I understand the critics that say it's just a more expensive lego video game. However, my kids are excited to build the toys, and the game uses it's portal in interesting/interactive ways. I'll admit I'm biased, but I'm really happy with my purchase.

Shortly into starting the game Ive got Gandalf in the batmobile raiding the wicked witch of the west's castle. I'm in. If you like Lego games and pop culture this is the convergence of all things good. The characters are mostly all voiced by their original actors with their trademark Lego humor. The game board introduces new puzzle concepts, lights up & changes colors as dimensional portals do. You don't have to buy more characters to play the game, you can rent them briefly with tokens to accomplish tasks. Character packs are for entering offshoot worlds giving you new gameworlds within main game. Follow initial directions, insert disk & download update as you construct the portal. The update can take a while. The cord for game pad is very long so you don't have set it right by tv. This is handy as you occasionally have to move figures around to solve puzzles. Looking forward to what 's coming next.

I held off on this bc really, I don't want to dump a ton of money into this type of game. I hate these types of games like Skylanders and whatnot. BUT, this is Lego we're talking about. I love the Lego games. And when I found out they had Ghostbuster Legos in the game, well, that was it. Every set I have (I bought I think 3 or 4 before I even had the game/starter pack itself) I bought on sale. It's not really worth full price to me, but the game is pretty fun and really funny. If it's on sale, pick it up. If not, wait for a new pack to come out and everything should be then.

    Still worth buying in 2018

I bought this in 2018, almost a year after LEGO Dimensions was discontinued, and right now is probably the best time to buy it. The Starter Pack is now a fantastic value by itself, many Fun Packs and even Level Packs can be found for reasonable prices, and the main game has plenty of content to keep you entertained for many hours. I'd recommend picking up at least a few additional Fun Packs for the best experience (some powers/abilities can only be used by certain characters, so if you want to 100% the game you'll need to buy a few more characters and accessories), but it is still possible to play and complete the story mode using just what comes in the Starter Pack, so if you don't care about finding all the in-game collectibles don't let the toys-to-life aspect scare you away. If you haven't played a LEGO game before it's basically an action/adventure platformer that takes place in the LEGO world, so in addition to the usual exploration, fighting, and puzzles you find in most games there's also a lot of smashing LEGO objects and using the pieces to build new objects to reach your goals. The game itself doesn't really rely on the physical toys at all apart from some mini-puzzles, they're mainly used as an excuse to sell additional sets and to include other franchises like The Simpsons, Back to the Future, and Doctor Who, as well as give collectors something to play with or display when they're not playing the game. So just to reiterate, this is a full-length game that can be played without buying anything extra. It's not just for kids either, it's entertaining and challenging enough for adults to enjoy too. Definitely worth the price that it's selling for right now. Also make sure to update the game before starting, as the original release has a bug that will cause the tutorial to stop responding after you first build the Batmobile. The very long opening cutscenes aren't skippable and the first save point isn't until after this section, so you could end up wasting a lot of time and have to restart the game from the beginning if you encounter that bug.

Better than Disney infinity with platform like skylanders. It's great to able to use different characters and not have to be in the toy box like Disney. Waiting for Star Wars characters for this!!!

The game is lots of fun, but you can't access everything without the specific characters for each area. Also, sometimes you need another character to complete something, you can either use the character if you have it or purchase it with studs for an extremely short period of time. If you can't afford a lot of characters, you will not be able to access much of the game.

This is the next evolution of the toys to life genre of gaming. It takes the concepts laid out by Skylanders and Disney Infinity and turns them all on its head. The ability to mix characters in worlds is a dream come true. Highly recommend playing this.

This game plays like your typical Lego game, making it great for younger children. The different properties (Wizard of Oz, Simpsons, Dr. Who, etc) mix brilliantly together. Batman of the Lego Movie meets Batman of the DC universe....hilarious!

I went back and forth wether to buy this for my son but I am so glad I did. The look when he opened the package was pricesless. Despite having to go out and by additional characters (more $) I was very pleased with the game. It is very interactive and my son would play for hours if I didn't have a gaming limit for him. Great addition to the Lego lineup!!

Bought this for our 11-year old and she loves it. We haven't tried all the packs yet, but this base unit is pretty amazing so far. Obviously it would all get crazy expensive between the xbox/ps4 unit, so I was glad to earn Best Buy points.

    Substantial Content Even Without Expansions!

The Lego Dimensions Starter Pack is the only way to begin your journey into the game, as it will include the Base Game, Toy Pad and 3 Essential Figures. The included figures: Batman, Wyldstyle and Gandalf are essential for playing the Story Levels and are designed so that you can complete the entire game with just these 3 starting characters without having to buy any expansions. The 14 Levels in the main Story are all about a half hour long on your first playthrough, and having 3 characters from 3 different franchises unlocks their 3 respective Adventure Worlds, which can take hours to explore per World! Overall, there is more than enough content in this Starter Pack that would make it worth picking up for the prices they sit at now.

this is the coolest Lego game to date. You can play any character, at any time. You don't need to stick with the initial three character, although the cut scenes will still show them. It's great to be able to switch out characters at will to accomplish a task without having to unlock them first. I really like that.

Great game, but the total cost may not grind well with a lot of people. If you got the cash, and especially if you have GCU, then go for it.
