My son's into Minecraft a bit, and we both love building Legos and some of the Lego games, so he bought this to try it out.
Visually it's appealing, looks good. Graphics are rendered well, no screen tearing or lag or anything on the XB1S system we played it on.
The controls take a bit of getting used to for building things with lego bricks, since we kept trying to want, simply automatically, to use the thumbstick to raise/lower the brick, but you have to use the shoulder buttons, not intuitive. But once you get the hang of things, it's pretty fluid. Their ways to copy and paste things make building a lot easier than it would be otherwise, since you can do a wall, then just copy it and then build it again, again, again, and you have the outside of a building already done with just the work going into the single build.
You can "catch" lego pieces as well (reminds us of watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 during this). You can complete certain quests or tasks, and get more tools.
We haven't delved that far into it yet, but the few hours we put in so far, it's been really enjoyable. This will be an awesome game for someone who loves being creative with Legos. If you're looking for something more along the lines of the "normal" Lego games, this isn't what you're going to want.

This is a great game for anyone with a strong imagination! Unlike previous installments from the Lego series, Lego Worlds provides the player a whole host of tools to build their own landscapes, buildings, etc, as well as copy/paste existing structures in the game. Additionally, the linear quests that are built into the game are enjoyable and offer the player the ability to "level up" as they progress through the game. Split screen multi player is a bonus, too, as many modern games don't have this feature.

Lots of fun with the open world Lego game. Enjoy finding all the secrets.

As dictated by my 14-year-old, semi-sentient son, whose take on this game will be more accurate and applicable that my own, this game is better than other Lego games, primarily for the reason that you have a free-roam, totally open, destructible world, all qualities which are presently (perpetually?) highly prized by the 14-year-old focus group. As per the child in question, everything is made out of Lego bricks, even the special effects, whatever that means. Apparently one has the power to shape the Lego world in any way that is desired. It sports both split-screen multiplayer, as well as online, and after an estimated 30+ hours of game play (the boy would downgrade that estimate; I maintain the original), it still holds enough appeal that only after repeated attempts to communicate with the child by calling his name loudly within a ten-foot radius of his being, does he finally snap out of his Lego-induced stupor and acknowledge that there is actually another world -- one in which he has chores, school, etc. -- that requires his immediate attention. I suppose this might be summarized as mission accomplished for Lego, and a safe and entertaining purchase for a child with "a love for Lego games."

Great Exploration and Building Game for Kids

Great Lego based exploration and building game. A few minor glitches now and then but nothing that takes away from the experience. It allows you to explore large randomly generated worlds built out of Lego that always seem unique or custom build your own creations. Easy for kids to control.

I've played a bunch of LEGO games, from LEGO Marvel Super-Heroes to LEGO Dimensions, and while this shares some similarities with regards to controls and actions LEGO Worlds does stand apart from all the others. This open-world sandbox is meant to compete with the likes of Minecraft, letting you build and explore endless possibilities with familiar bricks and minifigures. The exploration aspect is certainly there. And you get cool tools to use to reform the landscape and paint objects. The building part can be a little awkward when you're constructing brick by brick, but overall this is a great game. And if you're a LEGO fan you'll find a lot to love about this new entry.

We’ve played this game a few different times as a rental. My son liked it because of the similarity to Minecraft but the look and feel of his LEGO games. He was getting the hang of it, but tough as a one-night rental. He’ll really love it as a game we own!

Bought this game on a whim and I'm glad I did. Both my kids (boy and girl) love it (5 and 12). It really allows them to be creative and come up with endless designs and formations. Its like having an endless box of Legos to create your hearts desire.

Not quite as structured a feel as Minecraft, but still a fun Lego game all the same. Where Minecraft seems to have a better opening game story?/free build explanation, Lego seems to be a bit more spotty on the "hand-holding" to get you started. That doesn't mean that it's not a fun Lego game to play though, as there is a seemingly endless gameplay of discovering something new. Controls, I feel, needed some more fine tuning, but don't detract from the overall experience too much. If Lego updates/DLC comes available in the future, this game could have near limitless potential.

Just like the other Lego games but better because you can build whatever you want. Wish it was more sandbox like without a limit.

My sons and I love TT LEGO video games, but this one is significantly different than other releases and may have missed the Minecraft craze that they appear to be targeting. The levels are fun and the ability to manipulate the landscape can be entertaining, but the controls are busy and figuring out what the objectives are in each level can be confusing for kids. Playing split screen is frustrating and it's really hard to build and see menus.

If your kid loves legos like mine and has a great imagination, then this game will be a big hit! Our 9 year old and 4 year old were able to play free style build with this game, and they didn't require much, if any help from us. The 4 year old did need help from his brother from time to time, but he was still able to do plenty of things on his own. Overall, great game and we were very pleased with this purchase.
