Good laptop until the screen separated

I bought this laptop in 2016 during back to school tax free weekend. It is pretty heavy for me, but I just couldn't see paying the $1k+ pricetag for the lighter version. Overall it's a good computer, with good sound and fast, but after 3 years the screen has completely separated from the lid. It hasn't sustained any trauma, as in I've never dropped it, thrown it, sat on it, etc. I have no idea how 1 day the screen just started coming apart and then a few days/week later complete separation. I think maybe it had to do with a piece of the mesh in the groove of part where you fold back, that mesh had started to deteriorate and was cracked, but barely visible and thus I didn't know if it had anything to do with it. Mind you, I also never really used this laptop to it's full capabilities on an ongoing basis as tablet. I mean when I first bought it I flipped it back a couple of times to show family, but never did I on regular basis even fold it all the way back.

I LOVE THE FEATURE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO SWITCH FROM LAPTOP TO TABLET. TOUCHSCREEN IS VERY CONVENIENT. I BOUGHT THE LENOVO TO USE ON THE ROAD SO I DON'T HAVE TO CARRY MY WORK LAPTOP WITH ME WHERE THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGE OR LOSS.

I had to retire my MAC and went back to a PC. This gets the job done and took some time to get used to it. Problems with HP printer connect. Geek service was great.

I purchased this laptop and it broke on the 29th day of having it. I did not get the Best Buy warranty and the manufacture says it's "not mechanical" so they won't help. The parts are cheap plastic and it's a 360 so now I can't close my laptop and the screen cracked from the bracket being broken. I'm so disappointed with this laptop. I'm making payments on a broken laptop. Not a happy customer at all.

Buyer beware. 14 months in I've only used the computer a dozen time for business expos and the hinge that allows the computer to flip into a tablet has snapped. No more coverage is available on Lenovos end and I'm left with a fully operating broken computer. Look the other direction when shopping for a 2 in 1.

Out of the box this is an OK laptop. As other reviewers have noted, the wireless disconnects frequently. Downloading the newest drivers directly from Intel fixed this. My Wireless connection has been rock solid for 3 days in a row now. Secondly, there are issues with the display driverl Blank screens, reboots, and system crashes happen frequently with the driver that's included. I contacted Lenovo support and they pointed me to this driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25484/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40 You want the driver for Windows 10 64 bit. Get the zip file and upzip it. Next, follow the instructions here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/FLex-3-Video-card-Mathematical-Operations-Test-failed/m-p/2198627#M35724 to install the new driver. After doing this the system is completely stable. Now, on to other things: The trackpad isn't the best one I've ever used, and neither is the keyboard. The travel on the keys is short, and coming from a MacBook Air, neither the trackpad nor the keyboard are as good. With that said, they aren't bad... in fact, they're quite a bit nicer than some many others I've used, and I've worked on a LOT of laptops. The final issue is the hard drive. Out of the box, the computer is pretty slow. I picked up a Crucial SSD and did a fresh Windows install, and this machine is BLAZING fast. The screen is really nice. The sound... the sound is AMAZING. It sounds more like a small bluetooth speaker than a laptop. That's not to say that you'll be playing Spotify on it at your next party, but at 100% volume, you have to raise your voice a bit to be heard comfortably over a song or game playing on this computer. Most laptops sound is drowned out by the sound of wind outside your house. Not this one. The tablet mode is fun for small games like Windows Solitaire, and it's PERFECT for reading graphic novels like The Walking Dead. Tent mode is a big plus for when you want to watch a movie without the keyboard in the way. It stays cool to the touch both on top and on the bottom, and the cooling system is whisper quiet. All in all, if you aren't afraid of updating a couple of drivers, it's a good laptop. If you aren't afraid of installing an SSD, it's an AMAZING laptop. Configured the way mine is, it;s easily a 5 Star machine. I left the rating at 4 because achieving that 5 stars will take a little work on your part.

This is my first Lenovo laptop. I have very happy so far with the purchase. I really like the 2 in 1 style of it. I like to fold it back tablet style when watching movies and videos. Not to impressed with the speakers being on the underside of the computer though, although it does help when in tablet mode(assuming that was the design feature). the bluetooth connectivity of it has been seamless thus far. I have connected several devices to it, the only downside I found with it is that I have to go into the playback devices and choose which is to be my default devise every time I connect to a BT devise. Kind of annoying but not a big deal, just wish it did that automatically. I am a soldier that is deployed a lot and need a good laptop to take with me on my travels. The battery last a good while if the brightness is turned down low. The biggest issue I have is getting familiar with windows 10 coming from 7.

Ok, in doing this review, half of my problems with this touch laptop's blame is on Microsoft's windows 10 and it's uncompleted/buggy software. Also, I was called away to work during my return policy period before I could trade this laptop back in. It took 3 days and a lot of google searches just to get the OS working right with the computer. In the beginning, the start up times varied from 5 mins to 10. This is VERY unacceptable. I found out that after installing windows 10 two days later, some of the updates still did not install. So, after getting those taken care of, and figuring out that you have to toggle the quick start option from on back to on, the computer speed up its restart times to at the most of 3 mins from a cold start. In sleep mode it takes 34 secs. With that said, the graphics card does not play nicely with windows 10 and crashes every so often. The battery is also very underwhelming. Fully charged with power save mode on, you are lucky to get 5 hours from it. Without power save mode, you can expect 2.5 to 3 hours. What I like about this item. It's screen is beautiful 1080p resolution. The high gloss makes it way to reflective at times. The JBL speakers are very decent for a touch-pad laptop. And I love the back lit keys. The metal housing also feels really good IMO; however, it shows finger prints like no other. All in all, since I was stuck with this laptop and couldn't return it, and after I worked out MOST of the bugs with windows 10 and the computer itself, I'm actually very comfortable with this laptop and dare I say, like it for the most part. Bottom line, no one should have to modify their laptop straight out of the box. I also feel let down, because it was a best buy employee that talked me into this specific laptop when a lot of reviews have some of the same problems with the hardware that i have.

Love the options to use touchscreen or keyboard and touch pad. Love that I can fold it over when I am using touchscreen and need it to be closer to me. Still getting used to Windows 10, VERY different...fundamental things are either gone or hard to locate/navigate. Computer runs pretty fast and has good sound. Great for the price. I would recommend. Love Lenovo!

Pros -Great Performance -Huge Space -Wonderful all-in-one laptop -Feel good touch screen -Seamless transition from laptop to tablet with Win10. Cons -The placement of the power button on right hand side. When lifting the system, it gets pressed accidentally -The groove on the lower part of the system around the keyboard and touch pad. It irritates while we are working on the touch pad. -The placement of the touch pad, which is slightly left to the system Apart from these few issues, I think this is a great all-in-one laptop.

The wifi will not connect which I found to be a common error with Windows 10. I am not a computer genius and for this reason, I am unsure how to fix this. The wifi went out 4 weeks after buying the computer. Due to this reason, Best Buy would not return the item or help fix the issue unless I pay an additional 200 dollars to geek squad. I just paid over 800 dollars for this computer... I can't afford the additional charge with in which I do not believe should happen with a brand new computer!

So I've owned this Lenovo Edge 2-1580 for over a month now. At first it had a few glitches. Ie. Shuts the screen off while in use, battery wasn't performing up to par, etc. However, I decided to call Lenovo before returning it. Seemed there was a small glitch in the windows coding, and Lenovo had the fix. After a 10 minute phone call, my machine was back up and running. For the last 4 weels now, it had performed beautifully. The response times are fast, there is no glitch ingredients and the looks overall of the computer are astonishing. The ONLY downside is that it does not have an optic drive (DVD rom). Which is not that big of a deal to begin with, everything has a download able version on the net these days anyways. So as far as breakdowns go, esthetics I give 10 out of 10. Functionality, 9.9 out of 10, just because the original flaw. Speed, 10 out of 10. I mean 8 gb RAM folks, this thing flies! User friendliness, 10 out of 10. All in all, this is an amazing tool for the price. I'd expect it to have a MUCH higher price tag considering it is a 2-in-1, the materials used (aluminum chassis and covers), the overall speed packaged inside and of course the edge to edge screen. I'd heavily recommend buying one.

I purchased this computer and then had to take it back because the screen would go black. I loved the laptop so much, I exchanged it for the same one - Best Buy was very helpful in this process. When I brought the new one home, I installed all of the updates and I have not had a single problem since. The touchscreen is wonderful and the backlit keyboard is very helpful. The computer runs fast enough for what I like to do on it and it has a beautiful lightweight design with a bright clear picture. I am in love with this computer!!!

It's been a while since I used a Microsoft Windows product but it was an easier than expected transition. The Lenovo is heavy but has good battery life and Windows open quickly. I have never used the tablet feature which is funny because it was one of the main reason I chose this model. The touch pad is super sensitive and somewhat hard to use so I was smart to buy an inexpensive Bluetooth mouse. I have yet to figure out Cortana which seems to have the same problem with me because it keeps wanting to find games for me. The price was right and it does what I want it to do.

I have 7 month with this laptop, its gireat. Just one thing, the screen cracked. I was using my laptop then decided to turn it off and close it, when I tried to close it the part of the screen (the hole screen the top part of the laptop) got stuck and from the side it split open so I tried again to closed and the screen crack all the way to the middle. I didn't apply to muck force in it. What I think is that the hinge got stuck or something. I can still use it but I cannot closed and its not a comfortable way to use it neither. I also already called to Lenovo and went to Best Buy and told me that to repair it will be a cost from $300-$400, It doesn't matter if it wasn't my fault...

Was very excited to receive this laptop. Opened up the package and it was just as expected. The build quality of this bad boy is fantastic. Love it. Not the typical flimsy plastic that other laptop vendors use. Have used all configurations for this laptop, tablet, tent, and standard laptop. All work great. The kids love it! While the hardware seems to be great, the performance running Windows 10 doesn't seem to be all that. For a more current i5 processor, it isn't as fast as I would have hoped. When I first setup the laptop, I had to update the video driver directly from NVidia as the Lenovo hardware check would constantly find issues with the video. Once updated, the laptop ran without issue. If you don't need a build in DVD drive, then this laptop is for you, minus a really sweet solid state hard drive which would have made this a killer system. The battery for this laptop is built in, so haven't looked to see how this would be replaced if the need arises, but so far so good I guess. Aside from performance that could be better, my only other issue is with Windows 10 I believe as Google Chrome doesn't really like to launch at times after waking up the laptop. Other than that, it runs as expected and haven't had any serious issues or draw backs that would make me return this laptop or not buy it again. As mentioned above, the build itself was nice enough to warrant the purchase....I also loved that it support AC networking and dual band. Good stuff here and would recommend the buy unless you can find a system similar to this this a solid state drive. Otherwise, love it.
