Pros Sleek, Compact Design Anti-glare screen Fast Processor Core i7 Processor Touchscreen Good color accuracy Good Contrast Quiet Can connect to an external monitor Can serve as a monitor Very little software bloat installed Windows Hello Login support works fast Memory and hard drive can be upgraded SD Card slot on the bottom of the monitor Integrated speaker is very clear for speech Keyboard and mouse feel solid with good response Cons Includes only traditional hard drive which bottlenecks performance Only single channel memory support Integrated speaker is lackluster for music Keyboard layout is unnecessarily cramped Keyboard/mouse dongle should have been integrated Instructions are very limited McAfee trial instead of full version or nothing No hardware diagnostics No system restore option for hardware failure In recent years there has been a race to make computers smaller and more versatile. They have transformed into 2-in-1 systems, small puck style mini systems, and All-in-Ones. There have been high quality mid-range offerings for 2-in-1 systems and puck systems, but All-in-Ones have been mostly left to budget, low end systems with poor screens and mediocre specs or extremely expensive, ultra-premium offerings. The Lenovo 730S, seems to target that mid-range sector for people who don’t want the absolute cheapest computer available but don’t want to shell out several months salary for an overpowered, high end system. Out of the box, the 730S is refreshingly basic. You have the main body of the All-in-One, a base, keyboard, mouse, power adapter, batteries, and a small pamphlet. The only thing to assemble is screwing on the base using the built-in wingnut. Plugging in power is similarly straightforward. The only thing that might cause temporary confusion is if you are not paying close attention when installing the mouse batteries, you might miss the wireless dongle on the back of the battery door. Forget to take this out of the mouse battery compartment and plug it into the back of the system and you will be left wondering why your new system doesn’t seem to want to work with its keyboard and mouse. As most people skip any manuals or quick start guides, even more so on an All-in-One, a simple peel off label stating the dongle must be installed would go a long way. Even better would be if the dongle is either integrated or the keyboard and mouse were Bluetooth so you don’t immediately utilize a USB port out of the box. The outside is kept clean as there are no screen adjustments. The power button is on the back, right and the ports are all clustered right behind the center of the screen near the stand. At the bottom center of the screen lies an SD card slot and a camera slider. Although not immediately apparent, the slider changes the camera from RGB mode, to Infrared, to privacy. Infrared allows the camera to see you even in the dark to log in as it uses two infrared lights to illuminate your face. For those concerned with privacy, you can slide the level to the far left and the camera is hidden behind the bezel. No need to trust privacy via software when the camera literally cannot see you. Again, in the interest of simplicity this is not prominently displayed. But for some, this alone might be a reason to choose the 730S. Once assembled setup, use is very clean and simple. The base is devoid of any distractions as a simple round weighted disk. The stand includes a single plastic loop for cords to be routed. Adjustments are again, very basic and simple with only tilt available. As the wizards walk you through the initial software setup you will notice one feature that turns out to be extremely helpful day to day, Windows Hello support. After the built-in cameras have learned your face, you can simple sit in front of your computer and tap a key or click the mouse and the system recognizes you and logs you in automatically. It works very fast and reliably. It makes the traditional method of logging into a computer feel dated and laborious. Once you are fully set up you will find bloatware almost nonexistent. A Lenovo support app is included but the only bloatware included is McAfee antivirus trail and 2 games which are quick to uninstall. Getting to day to day use, the included wireless keyboard and mouse feel better than average. Although not sculped, the mouse feels comfortable enough for long term use with accurate tracking. The keyboard is thin but feels solid. The keys feel as though they have a scissor action and provide medium travel with a satisfying amount of feedback and a good response rate. For most people, the keyboard will work well but there is one caveat. Even though there is no reason to limit space, the keyboard is laid out in a somewhat cramped fashion much like a small laptop. The function key crowds the control key on the bottom left, and the arrow keys crowd into the bottom right control key. Backspaces is small to make room to crowd in a home button. It has a separate number pad but for some reason Lenovo chose to make the whole setup crowded. If you have large fingers or poor dexterity, this might be reason to swap out. If Lenovo had just made the keyboard about 1 to 1 ½ inches wider to space things out wider, this could potentially be one of the best included keyboards. A backlight option would also have been a great addition. The screen, although small by modern standards, looks very good. At first glance one might be concerned about the lack of hardware adjustments to the screen. Just by visual inspection, without testing tools, it appears Lenovo calibrated the screen at the factory. The screen has a matt finish, meaning glare is near nonexistent. Colors are still nicely saturated and accurate without being punchy. Full HD seems appropriate for the screen size as pixels are near impossible to see at normal working distance. There is an option for automatic brightness which does very well. Overall, it looks like Lenovo took care to make sure the screen could work for professional use with little fuss. Again, this is without any professional test tools, but it is very rare for a screen out of the box to appear to be good as is. It is even a multitouch screen if you prefer to be hands on. Sound is, no surprise, limited. Logos are on the box, the screen, and even in the software about having Dolby Premier Sound. But, you can only do so much with the tiny speakers built in. Speech is well balanced with good highs and mids but anything with music will immediately show the weakness of these tiny speakers. That said, there is a hint of involvement with Dolby as the speakers do sound rather nice. That said, if you want more range you are best served using the headphone jack on the bottom of the screen or maybe even a USB sound card. On the technical side, installed is a Kaby Lake Core i7-8550u mobile chip. For most use cases, this is more than enough power to perform the task. The downside is Lenovo didn’t balance the configuration with matching parts. The 8GB of memory is acceptable as in most use cases. If you wish to upgrade in the future you can, but unfortunately there is only one memory slot. This means you must ditch your old memory for the new and you can’t take advantage of dual channel speed. The hard drive is the real bottleneck on this system. With a 1TB traditional hard drive you get plenty of storage, but the drive is so slow it can’t properly feed the Core i7. This means your shiny new system with a powerful processor will be sitting and waiting for the traditional 5,400rpm hard drive, using technology that is over 40 years old, to catch up. This is a miss on this part and seems like a poor way to save on costs. Of course, a 1TB SSD would cause costs to skyrocket but the lack of an Optane drive to boost performance or even a hybrid drive with such a powerful hard drive seems odd. The hard drive can be swapped out later with something better and there is an M.2 slot hidden inside. Unfortunately, there is no documentation to be found that says if that M.2 slot could handle Optane memory at this point. Hopefully Lenovo will release documentation later to make upgrades less of a guess. The slot is labeled as M.2 SSD with an M key. There are two standoffs labeled as HS1 and HS2. Without measuring the best guess is the lengths are 2242 and 2280 but it would be best to measure before ordering. Running HWInfo it shows only 2 PCIe X 1 lanes, so it might only support a traditional SSD, which aren’t common in M.2 M key configurations. To make matters potentially worse, if this is true, the most you could potentially get would be about 500MBps to feed that Core i7 so it could still bottleneck. Graphics are provided by the standard included Intel UDH Graphics 620. They get the job done just fine but you won’t be doing any serious gaming on this system. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Lenovo never marketed it for gaming. That distinction is left for their Legion series. Overall, the Lenovo AIO 730S feels well thought out with mainly minor complaints. Design fit and finish, and day to day use should leave most people happy. It doesn’t excel in any one category but is instead well rounded. As it stands the 730S is a solid 4.5 out of 5. If the shortcomings were addressed, it could be easily rated a 5 out of 5. That said, it should work well for most people and will give you the sense that you are getting your money’s worth. About the only people this would not be a good fit for would be gamers or those doing 4K video editing. For everyone else, the Lenovo AIO 730S should at least warrant consideration.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 730s-24 All-In-One system. This system configuration is fast, even with a standard hard drive, the pairing of the Intel Core I-7-8550U processor and 8GB of DDR4-200MHz RAM makes for quick file/program recall. This model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. The DDR4-2400MHz RAM is expandable to 16GB by your certified technician. With regard to instructions, all manuals are available online. Here is a link for this model's User's Guide:  https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/aio_730s_hmm_20180329.pdf. This system is equipped with hardware and software diagnostics. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. As far as System Restore, Microsoft no longer ships Recovery Media with Windows 10 devices. You should make your own Recovery Media ASAP. You can do this by typing "Recovery Disc" in the Cortana Search Window. Then select "Create Recovery Drive". Follow the onscreen directions. lenovo

A nice sturdy all in one for your desktop. If you want a sleek unit that has a very small footprint and you are not planning on any upgrades to its hardware - this is definitely worth a look. A great all-in-one from someone who is not a fan of all-in-ones. Checking at Lenovos website there appears to be a few options for configuration such as far as drive, memory, screen, etc. This unit has the following specs; 24 inch 1080P tiltable touchscreen monitor. Intel I7-8550U 1.80GHz Kaby Lake-U/Y 14nm processor 8GB DDR4-2666 (1333 MHz) – only 1 slot Lenovo 36F1 (U3E1) motherboard Intel UHD Graphics 620 (1920X1080@60Hz) 1TB Seagate ST1000LM035-1RK172 2.5 inch hard drive (128MB cache, SATA 6.0Gb/s and 5400 rpm) Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 as well as hard wire option Bluetooth 4.0 Realtek High Definition Audio 3 USB 3.0 connections 1 USB-C connection HDMI in/out IR camera Combo headphone/mic in jack 3 in 1 card reader Built in speakers (I believe 2 watts) Wireless keyboard and mouse Windows 10 home total dimensions 21.3" x 16.91" x 1.73” weight of about 11 lbs comes with free 3 month McAfee protection Positives; It was nicely packaged and it could not have been easier to setup. You only have to attach the base and plug it in. You have to go thru some Windows 10 setup questions (using Cortana) which took a few minutes – but I was up and running within 15 minutes. It is very nice looking with the grey color scheme and “cloth look” at bottom of screen where speakers and camera are. Screen is pretty much edgeless and very thin. The wireless keyboard and mouse are very sturdy. The keyboard appears to be metal much heavier than you would think with nice key feel Not to much “bloat” software to get rid of. Boots pretty fast (about 15 seconds) – but I disable anything not necessary during startup. It runs fast and screen resolution/color is great for me. Would be even faster with more memory and SSD instead of platter hard drive (options as I mentioned above). Touchscreen is nice and being able to use a pen is great but it doesn’t come with a pen Camera has a manual switch so you can cover it for total privacy What can you say - its running windows 10 – and runs it well. The USB ports are fast – especially if you have a USB-C drive/connected device. Nit picky negatives; Since this uses Kaby Lake processor and Intel 620 graphics – this is NOT a gaming machine. You can play solitaire, candy crush, use Office, etc. – but if you plan on using for intense gaming I think you will be disappointed. (See PC Mark8 attachment) No back-light on keyboard and it is not full size Mouse did not fit my hand very well – but that is very subjective Cant raise/lower/swivel monitor Camera is at the bottom of screen – not the top. Sound is OK but plan on adding external speakers if you want to “rock” it out and have any bass. USB, ethernet and HDMI connections are on the back of the monitor (not on side or front) so they are a little hard to get too. Card reader and headphone jack are on the bottom/base of the monitor. All are a tad difficult to get to. Fan can be a little loud at times, but it is sitting right in front of you. Definitely worth a look….

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 730s-24 All-In-One system. We are pleased to hear that the IdeaCentre 730s-24 SIO is working out so well for you. This is a high performance system with its Intel Core i-7-8550U processor and 8GB of RAM. It will generate heat whenever it is turned on, even at idle, this is normal. I might have to say Lenovo is killing the PC game with their current design models! The AIO PC is a looker and has come a long way from previous models. Very much in line with the iMac in the design column. For what's packed in a very slim design, I give Lenovo all the credit I can give... With that out of the way, I have the AIO 730S with the Intel Core i7-8550U (1.80GHz), 8 GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB SATA HDD & 23.8" 1080p IPS LED display that's also a touchscreen with built-in speakers which are loud (no bass). While this isn't for a gamer, this is more than enough for your average daily computer user. I see this being for a consumer that uses the computer daily and wants a minimal footprint. The computer itself is very light and performs beautifully while using Office and multi tabbed browsing. With Bluetooth 4.0 on board, I finally had a opportunity to use the wireless display option with my living room TV. It may lack I/O ports but it makes up with wireless abilities. This PC is very much inline for a front desk, family room or even a visitors PC. Bonus is that it does come with it's own wireless keyboard and mouse combo, but you'll lose a USB port to use it. I have my bluetooth Logitech keyboard and mouse paired with it to free up the port. I suggest you look into that route as well. There's also an privacy option for the built in camera for you paranoid people who are worried about someone spying on you. LOL. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for that everyday computer without the bulk. You'll like it too! Thanks.

Initial impressions are very positive, The 730s is very nicely built, the keyboard and mice are quite nice and not the standard cheap ones that usually come with new PCs. The stand is designed to take any worries of the unit tipping over away, The Screen is just right and has great colors (darks and lights are spot on) the overall unit is smaller than I suspected but is feature packed with 8gb ram, i7-8550 chip, 1tb Hdd, Intel 620 graphics. Speakers are able to utilize Dolby Atmos. No noticeable fan or drive noise was heard during setup and some noise detected after or when pushing the processor but it wasn’t bad at all. The Speaker system is very nice. It has clear voice and sounds, not muffled or distorted. Most people will not need to add external speakers. The touch screen is very accurate while using my fingers, even more so using a stylist. Most systems have tons of Bloat ware installed but this system cam clean, the only thing I uninstalled was the free Mcafee as I chose a different route for my virus protection. The following were results when I used Novabench benchmark pc test: Overall score was 1271, Cpu = 895, ram 179, graphics 171, disk 26. These rankings put it in the 41st percentile but this is when compared overall to high end gaming pc, which this unit is not. This is not a gaming PC nor was it intended to be, this is a very good system for the workplace or at home for most everything. PC userbenchmark: was pretty much the same as above but they also said that the cpu could also handle some light 3d games. Overall this unit ranked as a yacht on their score card. Which is right down the middle when compared to gaming pc’s (again this isn’t). My overall impression of this pc is very favorable. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this in a work environment, or at home. It is extremely capable of handling any task you could throw at it. This would be a great PC for someone in college or those that don’t have a lot of space. The monitor measure at its smallest a ¼ of an inch and at its widest just a tick under 1.5 inches. Need more monitor space or coverage?, I was able to string another monitor off of this one using an HDMI without issue, this is great when having one or more documents open. I plan to setup a VPN connection to my office so during report season I can work from home (will keep the additional monitor hook to it as well) I would recommend 730s to everyone.

We had just finished up my wife's office space and was ready to add a PC for her work and projects. We wanted something nice yet nothing that would take up a lot of space due to the office not really being very big ( kids old bedroom). We received this system and after maybe a 30 minute setup and update time she was ready to use it. Network setup was seamless and she was online in no time streaming Netflix while she set up her files and business forms. System is pretty sleek including the stand. Really love the edge less display and the colors really pop. and the on board speakers are a nice addition and sound clearer than expected and easily controlled with buttons on the keyboard. PC has been used for multitasking a lot and so far the system hasn't shown any signs of bogging down doing the work she needs to do. And with the 1TB drive is more than enough for what she will be using it for. I've yet to try any games on it as it's primary use is for business. She absolutely loves and so I love it :)

The Lenovo IdeaCentre 730s-24 All-In-One system ships with a wireless keyboard and mouse. There is stereo 3W speakers within the All-In-One configuration. This Windows 10 system should boot up from off to the Windows 10 desktop in less than 40 seconds. If your system is taking longer to boot up, first be sure all Windows 10 updates have been downloaded and installed, second, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

The first thing you notice when you unbox this PC is how sleek it looks. Grey/black with a cloth covering over the speakers at the bottom of the display which also includes the camera. This look continues with the keyboard and mouse. This unit will look great on any desktop. The display is 1920x1080 and is plenty bright and crisp. The thin bezel adds to the sleekness of the unit. Performance. All-in-One computers are generally the insides of a laptop attached to the back of a monitor and this one is as well. They use low-power components to minimize the heat since space is so limited. The Lenovo comes with an 8th generation I7 1.8ghz quad core chip with turbo boost to 4.0ghz. along with a built-in intel UHD graphics card which unlike the description, uses system RAM rather than having its own dedicated memory. Not being a gamer, research says this graphics card will play basic games but don’t count on it for any high power/fast action games, you will be disappointed. There is a 5400 rpm 1TB laptop drive which is great for storage but a slowdown for overall system performance. A solid-state drive would do wonders for the speed. The system comes with 8 GB ram which in my opinion is the bare minimum you should have for a computer with these specs. My issue with this is there is only one memory slot so to upgrade to 16 GB, which is the max for this machine, requires you to lose the existing 8 and replace it with one 16 GB chip. Additionally, there is an Intel M.2 slot which is for Optaine RAM which acts as additional cache rather than actual system ram to speed the system. I would have rather seen this slot be used for an SSD drive. There are three USB 3 ports however, one is required for the receiver for the keyboard and mouse. There is a fourth USB-C port which is really cool to have. Cooling fan. Yes, there is a cooling fan and yes, you can hear when it spins up. Generally, it's not horrible and I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker since everything has them and they all make noise. Another thing I thought interesting is the HDMI port. There is a switch to make it input or output, so you can use this monitor as a television or second monitor for another pc if you wish. The keyboard and mouse are fashionable, but the keys are an odd shape and the layout seems a bit off. The travel and feel of the keys is good, very similar to a laptop. There is no shift lock or number lock indicator on the keyboard nor is there a power switch that I can see, and it uses 2 AAA batteries which were included. There is a small sliver of a button in the upper right that says LVT but I have yet to figure out what it's for. The mouse is a basic scroll mouse with no side buttons and uses one AA battery, also included. Both connected without incident. The 730S came with a 30-day subscription to MacAfee which I immediately removed to use windows defender. Microsoft Office is also preinstalled and will provide a 30-day trial, or you can enter your existing subscription information to keep it rolling along. Conclusion Anymore, I would consider this an entry-level computer, good for web browsing, watching Netflix and youtube with a little Word and Excel thrown in for good measure. Great for a small home office where lightning speed isn't so much needed. I would have loved it to have 16 GB Ram and an SSD drive and am already looking for the drive to replace the included 5400 RPM. Price wise, it seems to be in the middle of the pack of similar models from the other major players. When purchasing a computer, I feel it's more important to buy according to your needs rather than hoping something fits because you got it on sale or it looked pretty. I would recommend the Lenovo IdeaCenter 730S AIO with the above cavieats.

I wish it had 1 or 2 more USB ports, ideally on the side like the Lenovo I replaced. The fan runs quite a bit and is a little loud my wife says. I have a hearing loss and don’t notice the sound. Overall I’m pretty much satisfied. This was an open box purchase and I received a very good price.

First time purchasing an all in one pc, gotta say I am pretty impressed. Speed is great. Everything loads quickly, the larger monitor compared to my old laptop was definitely a deciding factor. Didn't have alot of space where I needed it so a desktop wouldn't have worked. Pretty pleased with this one.

Screen is great and keyboard is very user friendly. Easy set up and secure. I like the face recognition for security. Packaging was easy and set up was also very quick and simple. Also, the sales person was super awesome. Want a great all in one PC at a great price. This is it.

Fantastic asthetics. Graphics card cannot handle Halo Forge, but can easily provide great performance for basic to mid-level graphic tasking. Have not experienced any lagging be processor performance, although the computer did crash out-of-box a few times before all the drivers and software completed their updating. One slight hardware issue, the webcam is fixed to the monitor and is never at an optimum angle reliative to comfortable monitor tilt.

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaCentre 730s-24 All-In-On system. This system ships with integrated graphics processing within the Intel Core i7-8550U processor. It is the Intel UHD Graphics 620 version. With regard to the system restarting itself during the updating process of the Windows 10 Operating System, this is normal during the update process. Concerning the built in web cam. It is at the bottom of the screen to keep the outside bezels of the screen as thin as possible. The screen tilts backward to 22-degrees and forward to a -10-degrees to help position the web cam. Lenovo

The thing I like best about this computer is its sleek and stylish design. The worst part about setting up a desktop computer is all the cords attached devices. This computer has one cord that is plugged into the power outlet. Everything else is wireless and small. The screen is large but also very thin, and houses the processors. It is kind of like a high end tablet on a stand. Also, the keypad and stand feel sturdy and high quality. The mouse, on the other hand, feels a little light and is kind of an awkward shape, but easy to get used to. Regarding the processing power. The intel processor has good performance. I did get some slow spots but it was usually caused by Windows, which was doing updates and upgrades for the first 3 days I had the computer. Also, I would point out that you can play most games on this computer but if you need a good graphics card then you may want to get a computer with a separate graphics card and memory. This computer has an integrated graphics card and cannot support any of my son's "xbox" games. It is no flaw with the computer but rather just something to consider when you are shopping. Another thing I like about this is the bottom mount camera with an on/off switch. You can slide a shutter across the camera to make sure the camera is off. Also, the view from a bottom mount camera seems like a better angle than the top mount. Also, the camera is used for facial recognition and easily unlocks the computer just by standing in front of it. Not once did the facial recognition not work. Overall, this computer is a great family computer that is fairly quick, sleek looking, easy to maintain, and takes up very little desk space. I would highly recommend it.
