On sale, it's true, at the right moment, having had a similar computer stolen, and believing it was too early to invest in the next grade up and latest replacement model. So, for an incredible price I was able to grab this one. Just out of stock in the store, so I was helped to order from the warehouse online and within 48 hours I was back up and writing away with a this new model! A very workable option that is also lightweight and feels responsive, flexible with a pleasing each of touch on keys.
I am thankful that there is knowledge and actually real understanding in that BestBuy department when it is needed.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 130S-11 laptop is an entry level, light use system with its Intel Celeron processor. It is not meant for multi-tasking or demanding programs. It is good for Microsoft Office and light internet browsing. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. We recommend you check the requirements and compatibility of any software you will be installing on your new computer, before you invest in any computer. Be sure your new computer can support the software you will need to use.

I needed a Windows 10 computer just for work and word processing. This does the trick. I do still hate Windows 10 overall, but for what little I need to do with it, it doesn't bother me. (This computer came with a trial of Office 360, but I'd rather use the free LibreOffice programs, and they work just fine on this.) The size is pretty small, but that's an advantage to me. When folded, it's about the size of a tablet. Very lightweight and portable. I ended up taking it on a trip instead of my other, slightly larger, laptop. I didn't find the keyboard to be too small to use (no worse than any other laptop keyboard, anyway). I got this on sale for $140, so it was a great price and does just what I needed it to do. It doesn't have much extra utility, with the limited RAM and storage, though. The screen size/resolution was too small to comfortably read at first, but there's a setting to make the display 125% instead of 100%, and once I switched that on, it was fine.

I bought this laptop as a temporary replacement for another one that barely worked, planning on getting a more powerful gaming one later. So far, in the month or so I've had it, it's been great. The battery life has been wonderful and I haven't had any issues with performance. It does tend to lag a bit if there are a lot of programs open, but that's to be expected with only 4GB of memory. All in all, if you need a small laptop for basic internet use and work, this is a good option and a good price.

Great work and travel laptop

I typically use a full size Dell laptop that is hooked up to 2 external monitors but lugging that bulky thing around is a pain. I work as an attorney and need something portable, light, and with good battery life, to bring to court. I also travel a lot so something that can sit up on a airplane tray table is great. This does all those things.
I can run MS Word, Outlook, Chrome browser with my cloud based case management software open, along with Gmail, FB, and a couple more random tabs, and Adobe XI in the background and it all works! There may be a slight lag here and there, but its nothing to fuss about. Start up is also super quick upon sleep mode, like 2 seconds and you're back online. I hardly ever do a full shut down or hibernation.
This is an upgrade from an old Asus 11.6 that had Windows 8, Pentium i3 and 500gb HD. The SSD on this, paired with the Celeron work better than that old system even though this has a weaker processor. It is also lighter and thinner. Its really comparable to my wife's MS Surface.
The screen is also great (for my use). It is matte which I prefer because it is easier to see in the sun light. The keyboard is also very sturdy with no flex, well spaced buttons, and good springy response. The screen dims super dark as well which is awesome if you are in a pitch black room or dark plane. Its very easy on the eyes.
The track pad is just ok. Sometimes it jumps a bit when trying to precisely click on something, but I get around it by using single click, keyboard shortcuts, or a mouse. The track pad also gives a very illicit feedback when pressing the button. You clearly hear it. Something I like.
Audio and webcam are awful. But since I'm mainly using this for work stuff, that is a non-factor.
It automatically downloads a bunch of apps upon set up that you have to install, so get ready to spend some time clearing everything. I also immediately uninstalled Windows 10S and switched to the regular version which is free to do. It took a couple minutes and I haven't seen any performance negatives.
Power supply is a single unit and moderately bulky. A little bigger than an Apple block power supply. But still, much preferred than the old two cord style ones.
Overall, this is one of the best purchases I've made. I'm really happy with it and it makes for a great work or travel laptop. If you plan on gaming, running software to code, etc., this is not for you.

I purchased this laptop when I saw that it was on sale for less than $200. My expectations weren't very high, but overall I am satisfied with this laptop.
The case is made of plastic but feels sturdy and quality. It doesn't seem like it scratches easily and is extremely light. The display is fine and standard, especially considering the price.
This laptop is sturdy, light, and fast for it's price point. It has an HDMI port which makes this a good travel laptop. I brought this on a trip with me and got to stream Netflix and Hulu on the hotel TV.
Overall, this is a nifty little portable laptop that is great for basic computing means such as web browsing, streaming media, taking notes, and sending emails. I would purchase this product again, especially for it's price when on sale.

I have to say... at the price, i was super suspicious. Now that I have it, I can't believe how good it is!!!! The screen is an adjustment for sure, especially if you are used to slightly bigger screens like me. But it is doable if you tweek a few things. I took it out of S immediately and applied my own security settings and such and got Office. Everything works great. At 4gb of ram, i genuinely do not notice any stuttering or slowing. I'm used to 8GB ram systems with dedicated graphics, and I LOVE this thing. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a gaming powerhouse. Do not expect heavy duty computing, gaming, etc. However, I am able to watch videos, stream, do my work and research - all at the same time and seamlessly. The keyboard is very comfortable to use and doesn't feel cheap at all. The lightweight feeling of this computer is SO nice for travelling. I can not be happier with this purchase. For the sale price, I couldn't get anything better than this!!!

I got this laptop on sale for $130 to use as a travel laptop. I was tired of lugging my main laptop through airports and for this price, I figured I had nothing to lose. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it performs. It won't win any speed awards and the display isn't fantastic (but it isn't horrible either; quite usable actually). But for general web surfing and checking email while traveling, it's perfect. The small size and light weight are perfect for travel. Even at this price, it still has great Lenovo build quality. If you're looking for an inexpensive secondary laptop, just buy this. You won't regret it.

A Windows machine for less than the price of some Chromebooks?
Yes, its not fast, its small and hardly has any internal storage. But when most of what you do is online, but you need to be able to run Office, this is the best deal.
Throw in good build quality, LIGHT weight and long battery life, its a great deal. Yes, my Macbook Pro is awesome, but costs 10 times as much. This thing is fun, since I don't worry about the cost of replacing it, I can take it anywhere.
It makes a great first computer for a kid. It's too slow to play games.

I’ve had this laptop for about eight months now, and it’s probably one of the best values that I’ve ever had in any laptop or even electronics for that matter. It’s a good speed, very portable, light, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with it so far. It’s already paid for itself as far as I’m concerned. I would buy it again 100 times over. The only downside is the speaker is absolutely horrible. But I’m not using it as an entertainment device, so it’s not a huge deal.

I often use Chromebooks while traveling and at home, and they are great for simple browsing but lack software I sometimes need while traveling - particularly any ability to play .MTS (AVCHD) videos recorded on a HD camcorder. Windows has that functionality built in, and the one-year subscription to Office 365 was a nice touch, giving me enhanced functionality to view and edit e-mail and documents for work occasionally (I use a more traditional laptop for straight work travel, however).
Software functionality and Windows versatility, combined with compactness, apparent durability, respectable RAM and file storage capacity, and finally Deal of the Day price - made this an ideal buy for my purposes.
Another minor nice touch for me is the electrical plug/adapter. At first I wasn't thrilled about the old-fashioned large brick that plugs directly into the outlet, but after some time I think it is the lesser of two evils because it eliminates the annoyance of having two cords with a brick in between.
The one minor downside is that the screen seems pixelated in kind of an odd way - like there is a clearly discernible grid pattern all the time. I am well aware of differences in resolution vs screen size, etc., but I have not noticed this effect on any other LCD screen including higher-end 720/768p laptops and TVs. Maybe it's just me, but worth mentioning.
Overall, though, I certainly recommend this, especially if you get a good sale price.

I was looking for something that I could use to work on documents while on the road that was compact and held a good battery charge. I work a lot on minutes and basic spreadsheets. Been using this device for over a month and love it. At this price point it should be easy for folks to understand this is not a full powerful computer, but for single threaded tasks while on the road or just sitting on the sofa, this is a great option.

Because of its size and weight, I bought this laptop to serve primarily to download photos from my DSLR, but not I used it for much more. Win 10 Home S mode runs just as fast, and while traveling in Europe this summer, I felt more comfortable logging on to Wi-Fi networks knowing that no executable programs could be installed outside of the Windows Store. Adding to that the free 1-year subscription of Microsoft Office 365 makes this laptop an incredible deal (especially if you get it on sale at the $150 or less price point). True, it only has the 64gb eMMC drive, but 128gb micro SD cards are always going on sale, so eventually I picked one up for about $20 and now I'm all set.
Would definitely recommend this computer.
I would recommend this to a friend

Thank you for choosing the Lenovo IdeaPad 130S-11 laptop. The Lenovo IdeaPad 130s-11 laptop is an entry level, light use system with its Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM and a 64GB eMMC solid state hard drive. It ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System for added security (you can switch to Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System at no additional cost, if you don't need the added security of S-Mode). It is not meant for multi-tasking or demanding programs. It is good for Microsoft Office and light internet browsing. The IdeaPad 130s-11 laptop ships with a free 1-year subscription to Microsoft Office 365 (a $69.00 value). If this describes your computing needs, the IdeaPad 130s-11 laptop would be a good choice.
