I was very disappointed with the installed software. In the first few days of working on it I got locked out of chrome and couldn't download my new office program. had to have the best buy tech guys work on it. They did repair the error. today I got lock out of downloading something for my farm ville program

Posted .The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17 Laptop, model number 81WF004CUS, ships with Windows 10 S-Mode 64-bit Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. Whether you switch out of S-Mode or not, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Wish Best Buy would not have made things so difficult. Did not send the plug to charge the battery and got it from local store. Machine also loaded with software to try to get me to purchase different kind of security software. Totally ridiculous like spam.

The laptop was purchased online in "Open Box Excellent Condition" the description states the condition typically is: Looks brand new Includes all original parts/accessories Typically contains packaging. The actual condition was: No packaging, some cosmetic issues and the only thing included with the laptop was the power supply in a ziplock bag taped to the cover of the laptop. The laptop itself was fine but the OS had been recently updated to Windows 11 without the Lenovo apps. Updating the software from Lenovo the 1 year warranty had only 3 months left. The warranty period is under review with Lenovo and will hopefully be resolved. In short the laptop will be fine with some work, but the open box ratings Best Buy lists for items should not be relied on. The condition was "Satisfactory" as stated in the descriptions shown on Best Buys web site.

This is a decent laptop but, compared to the Dell laptop it is replacing (no longer available), this Lenovo has fewer USB ports and it does not have a CD/DVD drive! I don't like it that I have to turn off NUM LOCK to use the PAGE UP/DOWN and HOME/END keys. I do like the biometric (fingerprint) login and the PIN login.

There are duplicate PgUp/Pgdn and Home/End keys available when you also need to use the 10-Key Numeric Pad for Number entry. Just use your Fn Key then tap the appropriate Arrow Key for PgUp/PgDn or Home/End. This way your 10-Key Numeric Pad remains dedicated to numeric entry. His 15” is fast and dependable. My 17” is slow. The microphone is terrible; I can’t use mine for Zoom meetings, because the other person can’t understand what I’m saying. Big disappointment.

Great lightweight computer for the price!

We did some research and found that you could switch to Windows 10 Home with no cost. We also found that, although 4Gb was soldered to the motherboard, the open slot would take an additional 16Gb memory card. You can also replace the hard drive with an SSD and greatly improve performance. However, if you do these upgrades yourself, you will void the warrantee. As it comes, it is a lightweight, mid-level performer. Use it for a year, until the warranttee is up, and then you can make it hum.

This laptop is very slow to start, at the time, being a senior citizen, I didn't think it would bother me, but it does. It is very, very slow to start up. After two days it said my password was incorrect, when prompted it said my security questions answers were incorrect, but I do know in what city I was born, & my first pet's name. Every time (3) I reset my password with the same password, never did it say I had already used that password. That problem resolved itself, don't know how or why, I'm still nervous when I enter my password. Had an asus for 8 yrs, sorry I bought Lenovo.

It took at least 5 minutes to boot up and changing programs was aggravating because of the speed - or lack of. Would have loved the unit if it had performed well. I had to return it.
