Customers often highlight the IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook's large screen size, ease of use, and impressive battery life as key strengths. Many appreciate the vibrant OLED display and find the device's performance to be satisfactory for its price point. However, some users express concerns about the kickstand's fragility and lack of a headphone jack. The lightweight and portable design is also frequently praised.

Was a Christmas gift, we have use d it for a few days now. The screen is amazing and it does have its limitations on how many tabs you have open, but so far it's been great.

I bought this primarily as a small notebook pad to use for traveling, so I don't have to lug my laptop everywhere. Only complaint is that it does NOT accommodate Windows, despite what the Best Buy salesman told me.

The guy from Bestbuy couldn’t find the Open Box Item that I had ordered for curbside pick up. He apologized for making me wait and gave me a brand new sealed Lenovo Duet 5 for the same price.
These ppl are the „BEST“ and they will always try to satisfy the customer. Thank you so much your customer service absolutely amazing!

Why Bother?

This form factor for a Chromebook is so great, but Lenovo gets a lot wrong here.
First off, the bezels... Look, i get that slim bezels look better, but when you try to hold this thing as a tablet you're constantly pressing on the screen by accident. That wouldn't be so much of an issue but multi-touch is screwy here, so you can't touch another part of the screen if you're already accidently touching your palm on it. There have been so many times i go to put in my pin and i can't because i'm accidentally holding the screen. It's REALLY annoying.
Secondly, the stylus. Well... the lack of a stylus. That's a small deal here, but there is no stylus in the packaging. What's a huge disappointment is that the back magnetic panel has a slot for a stylus holder... which also doesn't come in the box. AND also isn't available for purchase. Why even do it then?? The sides are nowhere near magnetic enough to utilize with a magnetized stylus. So if you're going to buy this for note taking and similar activities... don't. I ended up finding a workaround by 3D-printing my own, which shows how laughable Lenovo is ..
Let's talk performance... It's really REALLY slow. I mean, this is 2024. How do you get it so bad? I'm literally waiting 30 seconds to load a full sized web page when my phone (with a similar processor) can do it in less than 3 seconds (and yes, full sized web page). It's horrific.
The ONE positive about this is the display. Since it's an OLED, it's beautiful. Every video on this thing is just a joy to watch. You have the crisp blacks, punchy colors, sharp lines. It's great
Aaaaaand then it's immediately ruined by the speakers that sound like they came straight out of the OG iPhone. They're weak. They're tinny. They're quiet. They're GARBAGE. So this results in you never wanting to watch anything on that beautiful screen.
You would think this is all done in the name of battery life, especially the OLED. Well... it isn't. Battery life is on par with what you'd get from something like a Surface Pro. The surprising thing is how much battery drains when in standby mode. It's a lot. Much more than it should be. Probably something that would get fixed in a software update... if the software ever gets an update...
Finally, let's talk longevity. The hardware in this device isn't eligible for the Chromebook Plus title. Lenovo is infamous for not updating their software. It's already showing signs of aging 3 months after purchase. And to top it off, this tablet/laptop has literally $0 trade in value anywhere. It becomes a brick as soon as you buy it.
In a phrase, Why Bother??

It’s good for google accounts but it’s difficult to add a school account to the actual device Idk why but you can still add the school account just not on the actual device. Overall, it’s a good reliable laptop/tablet and does its job perfectly.

Disappointing

What a disappointment the Duet 5 turned out to be. I read so many reviews and was excited to use this Chromebook for work travel. However, from day one I found the keyboard cover and stand to be really problematic. The keyboard cover didn't completely fit over the Chromebook and left about 1/4" of the screen exposed. In addition the stand didn't seem to support the weight of the Chromebook and it was constantly collapsing. The only way it could be used was on a perfectly flat surface and even then the angle of the screen couldn't be adjusted without the entire thing collapsing. After a handful of uses I took the Duet 5 out of the padded case that I keep it in, pulled down the keyboard and found a very large crack running diagonally across the entire screen. My Duet had never been dropped and I always keep the keyboard cover on and the entire thing in a padded case. I contacted Lenovo explaining that it looks like the screen experienced a stress fracture across the entire surface. I supplied several pictures of the large crack. Lenovo's response was that the warranty does not cover any kind of physical damage to the Duet 5, so I am out of luck. I wish that I had returned this obviously faulty Chromebook back to BestBuy the minute I realized that the keyboard cover can't handle the weight of the screen, but there were so many great reviews about this product that I figured I just needed to give it time. Maybe all the great reviews are from people just using it without the keyboard, or maybe I received a defective Chromebook, either way this was a real waste of money on my part.

The duet 5 is a major upgrade from the original duet with it's better specs all around, though the only knock I can give it is the less than stellar speakers as they're pretty soft even at full volume.
