So I’ve researched and considered other brands like ASUS and MSI. But they didn’t have the screen moved slightly forward like this Lenovo model you are looking at, for better cooling. This allows for the heat to escape out of the back and not roll up the back of the screen. Much more efficient this way. The fans are super quite compared to my previous ASUS I got for around $800 a couple months ago, And it had less performance than this one. The GTX 1660ti here combined with the latest 10th gen i7 processor is just about the best combo you can have for a cpu and gpu for gaming as far as thermal efficiency goes in a laptop. The i7 could certainly handle a RTX 2070 if it wanted to, but it will definitely help on more cpu heavy games. I decided to not go with a better RTX 2060 Gpu because that card is so under clocked for the Laptop version of it. And this 1660ti is capable of running Red dead redemption 2 very comfortably on high settings and it can do ultra settings too, but not as well. Temperatures stay cool and the graphics are more than I need for my level of gaming. I would only recommend something with a higher graphics card if you plan on having a desktop, in my opinion. This is a quality build and worth the extra $100 difference over the MSI, Dell, and ASUS with similar specs. Just buy it

I've been building desktop computers since 1998. Never purchased a laptop prior to this because I felt like what you get hardware wise, and what you pay in the laptop world is very very skewed. The Legion series is the first laptop in 2 decades really caught my eyes. When I added in my student discount, and other my rewards that Best Buy offered this was a no brainer...... This thing is fast out of the box, I haven't gamed on it yet. The first thing I noticed was how cool temp wise this laptop stays. Great air circulation! The keyboard is just about as close to perfect as you can get, as well as the keyboard layout. The display is crisp and bright. This laptop made it easy to install and partition another SSD drive. No problems at all thus far. Keep in mind when you go to upgrade the RAM on this laptop that it can handle 32gb!! (forgot what frequency). Honestly, I can't even imagine what this laptop will do with 32gb of RAM lol but I will definitely post an update when it arrives! Hands down best laptop for the price!

This is overall a great laptop. The part choices are great for some mid-level gaming, and schoolwork. My only gripe is that there is only 8GB of RAM. It is pretty easy to upgrade by just adding another stick, but it is 2933mhz which makes it a little harder to find at a reasonable price. The keyboard feels great. I had a problem with a sticking space bar, but it was easy to remove and reassemble which fixed the problem. I'm also a huge fan of all the ports they have on the back. It allows me to connect a keyboard, second monitor, and charge it without having cables come out the sides. I also like the feature that allows it to stop charging at 60%. This allows me to leave it plugged in all the time without worrying about battery health too much. I don't like how heavy this is. I expected some heft given the performance at the price, but it is still big. At least that weight went in to really good cooling. I got this on sale for about 900 dollars after tax, so take that in to account. I would be a lot less happy about this had I paid the full 1100 dollars, especially given the relatively small amount of RAM in my opinion. TL;DR Great laptop with a great keyboard, screen, and performance. The RAM is a bottleneck in some of my use cases, but they make it easy to upgrade. I think it is marginally overpriced but it seems to go on sale frequently.

I have spent a full day on this computer thus far. I added another SSD. More memory is on the way. Other than that, this is overkill for my needs. It's her computer for music storage And paying the Bill's. Prolly some video watching, and general web surfing. I got it for the hex core processor to hopefully let the computer break before its obsolete. I also plan on doing some gaming on it once the newness of it wears off and she let's me near it. Otherwise, it boots uber fast. It pretty much does everything fast. Including draining the battery. Using mobo graphics card and screen at 100% brightness, it was looking like less than 2 hours on battery. Dropped screen to 75% and it improved. I bet I could get around 3 hours than. It is way faster than my 6th gen i7 quad core desktop.

Fast, quiet and runs cool. I don't push the limits with games or other graphics intensive programs, but so far I'm very happy with performance. I did have a few problems with the screen being heavily pixelated when coming out of hibernate, but when I changed the power settings to sleep instead of hibernate they went away. Since I run plugged in most of the time this is not an issue. Levono Migration worked well for most files, but it choked when transferring my music and picture files. I got around this by moving those files into OneDrive, then uploading to the laptop. Only downside is it's a bit heavier than I would prefer, but I knew that going in. Tradeoff between weight and power which I was willing to accept. Battery life is OK, not great. If I get 4 hours on battery power I'm lucky, and that's without doing anything graphics intensive. Overall it does what I wanted, which was to replace my ageing home-built desktop, very well. And no more hard drive noise!

This is replacing my 9 year old Alienware M17x r2. So far, I have doubled the memory storage and added an additional NVMe Samsun Evo Plus drive. So far this laptop has run flawlessly. It runs my games at high settings and handles office work without batting an eye. I typically have 15 or more tabs open while working and it has not slowed down. I love how the keys feel and I like that it has a num pad (a must for me). Thermals are good. Fan noise is very good and even when running at high speeds it's still great. The laptop feels solid, even though it has a plastic chassis. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I was hesitant to buy this in store but I wanted a laptop that day. I was considering buying about anything. I wanted one that was out of stock, but I figured if I was going to buy a $1200 Asus laptop and was considering to buy anything plus wanted one that day and kind of had to buy one that day because my debit card was not working with online sites and my only opportunity to go to a store to buy one was that day, so I figured I would give this a try. I honestly would give this not just 5 but 10 stars. I was blown away right from the start this laptop is so nice. The keyboard is perfect. The display is quite nice. The specs are great. Don't be afraid of the 8gb ram. It will work for most games, I do believe. Works for all my Steam games. It is very fast as well. Also, you do not like the ram size you can also upgrade it to 12 at a local computer shop I am sure. I might even do that eventually. Oh I forgot the other thing was that it only has 512gb of storage, I wanted a 1tb laptop but got this. So what I did was buy a 2tb storage $50 or $60. It is very small and works great with a laptop. (It is a Seagate backup plus slim). So Take from me, this laptop may seem like something that you wouldn't quite want but you probably like me would take it home and be very happy with it instead. Thanks!!!!!!!

I bought this laptop primarily for the processor speed and gpu. Most of the other laptops had really slow processors but this one is fast. It has a camera sliding lock so that you don’t have to place your own privacy cover over it. It’s REALLY fast and my favorite part is the way the ports are set up. Many laptops are purchased without thinking about where your ports are. Everything is organized. NICELY on the back of the laptop. There’s actually a small overhang just for the ports so that you can see them without the monitor blocking them if that makes any sense (just view the rear of it). It has a really clean and responsive keyboard that feels like a regular keyboards depth. Some laptops feel like their keyboards are too thin. This one is perfect. The colors can be adjusted into 3 parts with different patterns. The on button is nice a simple. Just a small dot right at the center console beneath the screen on the keyboard. The screen is NOT touch. This was a PREFERENCE of mines because I found out that most of us enjoy using a laptop while laying down or sitting. Sometimes screens with the screen orientation sensors built in can cause problems like rotations when you dont want them to. For windows 10 you can just lock it and its fine. But for systems like Linux Fedora or Ubuntu (should you decide to install your own operating system) you might run into rotation issues even with the locks enabled. So I no longer desire touchscreen on my laptops anymore. We have ipads and tablets for that. This laptop has a great touch pad that senses both left and right clicks easily. The laptop just looks really clean cut. It doesn’t look gimmicky and isn’t made of any cheap plastic either. Everything seems very firm. This is my first Lenovo brand laptop. I am impressed to be honest. It didn’t come with a lot of bloatware either. I am very satisfied with this laptop. I would definitely recommend it. One thing I haven’t done yet is open up the inside. I do not know how difficult this is yet because there really is no need for me to do this as the laptop comes with a solid state drive. But that is something I also keep in mind. The ease of access for user customization if that is your forte. Finally, the laptop is VERY well ventilated. There are holes all over the bottom to let air out and the speaker is also very loud and clear too. I feel that I got my money’s worth. The specs specs speak for themselves on the gaming end. I specifically got this laptop for coding with the ability to game down the road. I already own a PC that I built from scratch and so I can’t say that I’ve tested the gaming aspect of this laptop. The specs look good though but I have yet to see how the heating handles gaming and ventilations while the laptop is running near max output. I’m sure somebody on youtube has done a review on that though. Best wishes.

I just purchased the i7/6060ti variant and it is a beast! The overall look and feel of the laptop is really nice and not too flashy. I also doesn't scream "gamer", which was appealing to me. The thermals (cooling efficiency) also seem to be very strong and the fan is almost silent for basic tasks. The battery is as expected for a gaming machine, which is to say, it doesn't last very long when gaming. When not gaming you can enable hybrid mode which automatically uses only the integrated intel graphics chip for non games, which saves some power. My only complaint is that Best Buy does not clearly state the screen specs. If you research the model number you will see that most variants they sell are the 120hz 250 nits screen, which is honestly a sub-par screen. The brightness is low and at 45% RGB space the colors are not vivid. Its "ok", but not great. If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend the 144hz 300 nits variant. Come up Best Buy, help us out! Also... you CAN absolutely upgrade to more than 16 GB of memory. You just need to make sure you use 2 sticks of the same size. For example, I upgraded to 32 GB with (2) 16 GB sticks. Its only been 1 day of use, but so far no issues with Wifi, battery, cooling or user experience. Also, a big shout out to the very clean Windows image from Lenovo. Very little bloat, in fact, the only bloat software that seems to be installed is McAfee AV. The Lenovo Vantage is actually a very useful package and Office 360 trial just comes with Windows these days. I always clean install Windows when I get a new laptop, and this was the first one I felt comfortable not doing that with. The price is a bit high. It should retail for $850 before discounts, but all laptops are trending high right now, due to Covid and home work/school.

Incredibly well built and ready to game right out of the box. The cooling is also very impressive and the keyboard stays a lot cooler than other gaming laptops that I have used. The 120Hz screen does make a big difference in how smooth everything looks. I heard a youtuber complaining that the screen brightness was too dim but it looks fine to me. I think a lot of youtubers are spoiled by trying some of the best laptops on the market and then they compare mid range devices like this and it gets a bad rap. I would HIGHLY recommend this machine PROS -Crazy fast GPU & CPU -Cooling is incredible -Great build Quality

I bought this as a "serious" computer for home office programming, as I am studying Computer Vision and needed NVIDIA with CUDA support for a class I'm taking. (If I decide to get back into gaming, I'll be all set.) Had it for a few weeks so far, and it's a great laptop! The SSD drive boots Windows in about ten seconds. Just a couple of minor observations: The default keyboard backlight has an annoying color changing pattern. Fortunately, this is easy to change using the configuration app. Backlight is always on, which is nice. Battery life is only about three hours. The 60Wh battery can be replaced with an 80Wh battery for longer battery life. Upgrading RAM is a bit more involved than with other laptops. You need a prying tool to remove the back cover, then there is a cover over the RAM itself. I watched a YouTube video on this and had no issues upgrading to 16G RAM. Overall, a good value for serious computing.

I have had this laptop now for 5 days working from home and gaming at night. This laptop has been a wonderful upgrade from my 2018 Nitro 5. The keyboard is fantastic to use, everything is snappy and responsive when loading programs and throwing tasks at the CPU. Out of all the games I have tried so far it handles them with ease ( Xbox game pass ). The only issue I would say and honestly this isn't a huge issue at all as its expected from gaming laptops is the fan noise. It is a bit much when its throttling but other than that I have 0 complaints and do not regret this purchase at all! The screen could be a touch brighter also but it's absolutely serviceable.

Owned and used daily for a month and I’m loving it. Pros: Lightning fast games (Fortnite, Sims 4 with loads of CC, etc.), great cooling, startup time is fast. Graphics are beautiful! Love the Lenovo Vantage system and built in gaming modes. I’m not the most informed on computer tech and the inner workings but I just wanted a laptop I could enjoy my games on without lag & with top settings, and without having to know a ton. Cons: Battery life is god awful (up to 60 mins max, no matter what) even straight out of the box - whether I’m gaming or browsing the web, doesn’t seem to matter - but I don’t plan on toting it around much. So it’ll just always be plugged in. Meh. And yeah, a fan is a fan so it’s going to make some noise but it’s way quieter than my MacBook Pro when I game.

Hello, thank you for choosing the Legion 5 gaming laptop. We recommend adjusting the performance mode with FN+Q to quite mode. This way the fans will run much softer and less audible. Your power button LED will turn blue when this mode is enabled. Regarding the battery life the Lenovo Legion 5 model #81Y6000DUS ships with a 4 CELL 60WH Lithium Polymer battery rated up to 5 hours. If you are getting substantially less battery life, please adjust your screen brightness settings. A setting of 100% brightness will drain your battery much faster than a lower setting. We recommend setting the screen brightness to some value below 100% that is still comfortable for you to view. Next be sure Battery conservation Mode is turned off. This power management setting should only be used when the laptop is plugged in all the time. It will prolong overall battery life by only charging the battery to 60-percent of capacity. Here is a link to instructions for turning off Battery Conservation Mode: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht103159. Also check what programs are running in the background on the computer. Be sure only the programs you want running in the background are. These programs will drain the battery. Here is a link to information about how to find out what programs are running in the background on your Windows 10 computer and how to manage them for better system performance: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-prevent-apps-running-background-windows-10 Lenovo

This is the most well-rounded gaming laptop I've found, and I looked everywhere before I made the purchase, even considering Razer laptops which are vastly more expensive. This one has it all. Pros: - Blazing fast in and outside of gaming. - Can max every game I've thrown at it at 60+ fps. Nearly 300fps in CS:GO. 100fps in Prey. 120+ in No Man's Sky. This thing just obliterates my PS4 Pro. - Excellent aesthetics that aren't gaudy like most gaming laptops. It looks like a machine for professionals. - Customizable 4-panel RGB keyboard lighting. - Near silent operation during basic computer tasks, and super respectable fan noise while gaming. I'm a music producer so this was crucial for me. I have and will take a laptop back to the store if the fan noise is too loud. You can easily cover the fan noise with the internal speakers. - Generous 512 SSD and room for expansion (so I've been told--I've yet to pry this thing open and don't intend to for awhile) - Great IPS 120hz display that's plenty bright and colorful to my eyes (despite what a couple prominent YouTubers mentioned--they are likely spoiled). - Plenty of ports, and most are in the back which I prefer. - Excellent keyboard with a number pad AND large arrow keys that you might actually want to use sometime instead of the tiny awkwardly crammed-together arrow keys that are on most other laptops. - Very good battery life for a gaming laptop. - There's a keyboard toggle that lets you switch between 3 different performance modes, and the light on the power button indicates which one you're in. Really nice little feature. - Webcam is on TOP where it belongs, is actually decent quality, AND it has a privacy filter on it which I really appreciate. - Very little bloatware installed. Cons: - The power brick is massive, and heavier than I'd like. It will add a little more weight to your carrying case. But that's the price of power I suppose. - The wifi driver had an issue out of the box. It would disconnect me from the net after about an hour of use, or less. Uninstalling the driver in device manager (Network adapters > Intel WiFi) and then rebooting fixed it. No issues since. - Doesn't cook breakfast for me. - Yeah that's about all I got.

Out of ALL the gaming laptops less than 1,100 dollars ......this was the ONLY one that didnt have simple overheating problems etc. My sisters ROG Zephryus S the one that looks different from alot of the others and a touch number pad on the right, did have that simple problem. Had to get her a cooling pad. For those who have Problems with the LIGHTING NOT BEING ABLE TO BE CHANGED ON THE KEYBOARD PLEASE READ. First step , uninstall and reinstall LENOVO VANTAGE. if that doesnt work install these Lenovo Vantage Gaming Feature Driver Lenovo Vantage Service for Windows These helped me be able to change the colors to what i wanted. I havent had a laptop in years due to personal reasons, i got sick and just couldnt handle having one. Didnt have the motivation to use one for years. This laptop Has been the best one ive had since my last one. An Hp touchscreen laptop. The Keys being so light to the touch was something to get use to as well as being ALMOST bezelless. From the outside it just looks like a work laptop. But the Legion logo has somewhat of a rainbow shimmer to it which makes it feel premium and not just like a mid tier laptop. The speed was unexpected. Ive been use to regular and slower ones so much that this one blew me out of the water. My first lenovo laptop. Did i mention it has a cover for the webcam? I didnt know until after i bought it. I have no more words

Overall the Lenovo Legion 5 (Intel) has been a positive experience (for a user with a history of gaming laptops), such to the point that I would purchase one again. My only initial concern before buying was the talk about the low brightness level of 250 nits. Seems like that questionable point was overblown by some as I have found no issue. Comes across as a nicely built budget gaming laptop (that can really game) with nice upgrade features of additional NvMe/SSD and RAM. One can also upgrade to a longer lasting battery but the existing one seems fine. Running the same games on my Ryzen 5 3600/AMD RX 5700 XT desktop compared to this Lenovo Legion 5 laptop and I am extremely please as to it's performance. Installed with a few useful Lenovo tools and no real bloatware. Plenty of ports including dedicated USB charging ports for your phone, etc. Love how I can attach and use an external monitor and keep the lid of the laptop closed. Picked the laptop up for $899 in May 2021 so keep an eye out for the occasional price reduction. Already own a Lenovo Android tablet and find that the brand is a safe bet.

I may be ignorant on gaming computers, but this thing impressed me. I went back and forth with gaming computers and laptops for myself and the kids and decided on this one. It was our "entry" gaming computer. Granted the storage isn't a lot, but this thing is fast. Price wise, I thought it was definitely fair. We actually export this to a TV and the picture is awesome. I'd like to say I get to play it, but the kids have commandeered the machine.
