THE BEST WAY TO MAKE YOUR DEADBOLT SMART

Installation and setup was simple and straightforward when following the step-by-step instructions in the Level app. Make sure to check Level’s website to ensure that Bolt will work with your existing deadbolt. My deadbolt hardware was from Schlage, and Bolt was compatible and worked great once setup and installation were complete. Since my door and deadbolt were fairly new, everything fit into place without needing to modify any cutouts on my door. The only tool that I needed was a Philips screwdriver. This ended up being a huge time saver, and allowed for a frustration-free installation within 10 minutes. As suggested after the last step, I also calibrated the lock using the app, which took less than a minute. Lock and unlock action are smooth, the deadbolt was able to fully extend and retract without issue, and the response time was better than expected for a Bluetooth based lock. The app was also quick to update status and history within seconds of each event. Through the Level app, I was also able to add the Bolt to Apple HomeKit, which allows me to control and manage the lock remotely from anywhere. This is a great feature to have for any smart home, and supports a multitude of integrations that can be done with other devices through HomeKit and third part apps. The Bolt is also compatible with Ring, as long as you have a Ring Video Doorbell Pro or Pro 2 with Amazon Sidewalk. Overall, the Level Bolt is well designed, hidden from sight, and a pleasure to use. I recommended it to anyone that’s in the market to make their deadbolt smart without advertising to anyone that they have a smart lock.

This smart lock works flawlessly with Apple HomeKit. It also fits Schlage B60 series deadbolts like a glove. See attached pictures. Perfect for my garage access door. No more searching for keys when my hands are full of grocery bags. I just tell Siri on my Apple Watch to open the garage door deadbolt. It also work with the rest of my automations such as 1) Auto-lock when the last person leaves my house, 2) Turn-On the garage light whenever the deadbolt is unlocked. Automation possibilities are endless with this Level Lock and Apple HomeKit. The limit is your creativity and imagination. The concealed design makes it an inconspicuous smart lock which adds further security.

I keep looking for a smart lock without changing the look and this is it! It works amazingly between my door and iphone via bluetooth technology. It’s secure and well built. I like the idea that level bolt is installed inside the current deadbolt so that we can keep the same appearance but hide the technology inside. The package of the lock is well designed and simple. The quality is very well and the installation process is pretty clear and easy. This lock is awesome and I couldn’t recommend it more.

We absolutely love the level bolt lock. We were able to use our same lock with the level bolt fitting perfectly inside for a secure, safe and durable feeling. All the hardware is extremely high quality and super easy to install. We would recommend this to anyone. The app is also very easy to install and use. Highly recommend the Level lock brand.

With friend's recommendation for Level Smart Lock, I got 1st smart lock and was able to install smart lock by myself as a beginner. Easy to install and Level App is user friendly. When I open the box, the feeling is like to open an Apple product. Box and Smart Lock are well-designed. If you want a smart lock well-designed, this could be your option.

Installation: To install this Level smart lock I really recommend that you take your time because at the early stage of my installation I had a few moments of difficulty. I was able to troubleshoot and get it installed. My first problem was I misread the compatibility guidelines to ensure that my current dead bolt meets the specifications. I had to make adjustments to the 2 3/4 and also purchased a new dead bolt lock to fit over the hole I made larger. I believe the installation will be a little quicker for most people if they don’t make the same mistake that I made. I think I would have been better off with the level lock set instead of the level bolt because the level lock is the complete deadbolt set. Functions/Features: Being able to unlock my door without a key and still feel safe is a convenience that I would not give up. I don’t have to worry about lost keys because I can add or delete access to users anytime I want and feel at ease. My favorite thing about the level bolt is the ability to unlock the door using my iPhone using the level home app or the Apple HomeKit. Appearance: The level bolt lock is hidden inside the existing deadbolt lock and I think it’s a great idea because people don’t need to see or know you have a smart lock. The level bolt lock do not change the aesthetic of my deadbolt lock and I appreciate that more because I had to get a new lock.

I've tried a lot of smart home products, and specifically smart locks. I like the convenience of smart locks. This one is a keeper and different than the rest, in a good way. My wife and I both enjoy the 'invisible' part, no change to our door, and the olds keys still work. Bluetooth removes the reliance on the internet. Compact product, easy install, and works with my Inox, I was really happy about that. Like all home projects, I had to make minor adjustments to align my door but that was not surprising. Let's see how the battery life is. Clever placement of the battery too. I recommend it.

Bought two for my entry doors. Had difficulty installing and neither one fits properly for dead bolt to fully lock. Despite that, even with partial locking of deadbolt, I bought and installed these the hours before my flight and locked them manually. I connected them to my wifi before leaving. When I landed across country, I checked the “leveled” app and states “out of range to unlock”. Even more so, family member has been in and out of home house sitting for me and it shows no history except for when i locked the doors. I will be returning these upon return home next week. 100% disappointed. I do bot recoommend.

Level Bolt was very easy to install and took me about 20 minutes, but I could definitely do it faster next time now that I’ve learned the process. The lock connected to the Level app very quickly. I liked the verification sound from the lock after putting the battery in for ease of mind. Packaging was also very nice and looked a little like an old VHS tape. So far, I’m very satisfied!

Its works great when I’m at home. For some reson I can’t connect to Alexa so I chose Apple HomeKit. As soon as I drive up my street… “ No Response”. My lock/unlock button becomes disabled and it no longer works. Tried again a few hours later after resetting everything. Got to the gas station up the street and tried locking it. To my surprise it supposedly went through, but when i got home the door was still unlocked (nobody was home if you’re wondering). I really wanted this to work. Oh well.

At this time Level Bolt is Bluetooth device, which means you'll only be able to control the lock when you're within Bluetooth range. To unlock and lock from anywhere outside of Bluetooth range, you’ll need to connect the lock to Apple Home and have a compatible Home Hub (Apple TV, HomePod, HomePod mini). So easy to install! Been looking at one of these for a while and really liked the idea of it being completely incognito. It went sale and I jumped on it. TLDR; Super quick to install and even get connected to. Can be slow sometimes. Feels limited for the price. Great if you can get it on sale. The Good: I had never change a lock before and I was able to get it fully installed in about 15 mins. Love that I didn't have to worry about getting the right finish or cutting new keys since it uses my existing locks. Was super happy I could get it integrated with home assistant through homekit. I can unlock the door when not home and even from my pixel watch. Setting up the app on my wife was really easy. I just put in her phone number (you can use email as well) and it texted her a link. She was able to install the app, create an account, and unlock the door in 5 mins. It even has the same process for setting up a guest account with the ability to enable and suspend there controls on a schedule or by the press of a button. Perfect for someone watching the house or a dog walker. The Bad: My only issue has been it is often really slow to respond. It can take minutes to open independent of how far I am from the device. After the initial command it's really quick. Usually around 5 seconds. I tried the log distance mode for a bit, but didn't really see an improvement in unlock speed to turned it off. I wouLd rather have longer battery life. I have just gotten into the habit of hitting unlock as I park and it's open when I get there. The ugly: The normal price is just way to high especially for just bluetooth. There locks in the same price range that have bluetooth in addition to wifi, nfc, lock cylinder, and even thumbprint scanner. The cost comes down to the aesthetics of it being completely hidden. All and all I have been pretty happy with this little device. If you need something easy to install and easy to setup you will have no complaints. Just be aware that you might have to wait sometimes or just fish for the keys.

I found this Level smart deadbolt very innovative and well designed and does not require making a complicated modification to the current door lock. Solid and sleek, and the battery compartment in the deadbolt is thoughtful, adding convenience when the battery needs to be replaced. First, I removed my old regular Kwikset from my entrance main door, inserted the Level deadbolt, and changed the strike plate; after everything was installed, I opened the Level app on iPhone, added it, and scanned the Apple HomeKit code in the manual inside the box and surprisingly the Level smart deadbolt installation was done within 12 minutes. Functionality via the app on the smartphone worked flawlessly. I like the design that invisibly transforms my regular deadbolt into smart without needing any additional hardware. Smart and exquisite!

I was skeptical about this level bolt dead bolt lock at first. But I was surprised with how it performed and ease of installation. Installation took about 10 mins. Pulled out the deadbolt guts of my existing key and replaced with the Level Bolt lock and I was installed. There are very specific specifications that need to be heeded for this lock to work. For example only certain sized doors. Door needs to be free of defects (i.e. can't be hard to close, can't be sticky, needs proper clearance from jamb, etc). My only door that was close to meeting these requirements was my garage door. I had small gap on the inside of the cover. Not too noticeable, but if I was picky then it would bother me. The fact that I did not have to switch out or use another key in my garage is great. I think this is a great feature or highlight to this system. Operation was fine. Application installation was a cinch with Google Play Store. Bluetooth recognized quickly and paired just fine. I have been using the lock for over a week now and no issues so far. Opened the lock about 3 to 5 times a day and it has not died on me. Different settings for chime was nice. The App has been giving me error with timed out for locking the lock, but other than that no issue. Based on my experience, I would recommend this product so that you don't have to switch out your entire lock for another key system and the ease of use.

Good addition to a smart house

I have been taking steps to convert my home to a Smart House, such as adding security cameras, video doorbells, and a smart thermostat. I don’t normally carry house keys on my person, so I was looking for a keyless-entry front door set without having to change out the hardware. Enter the Level Bolt. According to the compatibility list on the website, my lock should’ve been incompatible, but I decided to try it anyway. I have a Kwikset Hawthorne handle set with SmartKey. Installation was quite straightforward, and I had no problem getting the Level Bolt to fit within the installed deadbolt. I did have to cut away some trim to get the stripe plate to fit, however, but that was to be expected. One note is that the Level Bolt has to be able to lock fluidly, so if your deadbolt doesn’t quite line up (like you have to push or pull the door tight to get it to latch) and you can’t modify that, this product may not work for you. The Bolt is wifi-only; I wasn’t able to activate the lock remotely or outside of my network. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a keyless-entry without changing out existing hardware. However, I would’ve liked to be able to activate it remotely, and perhaps this will be possible in the future.

    An elegant smart-lock solution

Verdict. The concept of replacing the internal mechanism of a bolt lock to be able to keep the external hardware is a fantastic idea. Installation was easy, and so far, the bolt works consistently. Installation. I expected a tedious installation with complications, but the process was remarkably simple. I unscrewed the existing hardware, swapped the internal mechanism and bolt, and then added the correct circular insert for the metal rod. Once the internal components were installed, I reattached the original external hardware, added the battery to the bolt (you will hear a chime), and connected the level bolt system to the Apple home app. The entire installation took about 10 minutes. Our door was well aligned with the door frame, and the bolt fit nicely inside the strike plate, so we had no issue with friction or misalignment. Advantage. The level bolt provides a smart internal mechanism and bolt to turn any existing bolt into a smart lock for integration with your smart home. This was important for us because we have a matching door knob, bolt, and knocker in dark bronze, and we didn’t want to have a mismatched bolt just to add the smart lock functionality. Level bolt allowed us to add a smart lock feature internally, while maintaining the style we wanted. Features. Level bolt has a proprietary app to connect to the lock, which offers the great feature of being able to share access to the lock with someone. This makes it quick and easy to give someone access to your home temporarily if they are willing to download the Level Home app. The Home app on the iPhone also works well for a quick setup, and provides other features. Specifically, the Home app allows locking and unlocking of the bolt by voice command, although it is worth noting that the phone must be in close proximity to the lock. To unlock the bolt from a different room or floor, it looks like a smart hub is required. The Apple Home app also offers an automation feature to unlock the bolt when anyone from the household arrives home, and then lock the bolt when the last person in the home leaves. The lock provides notifications anytime the bolt is locked or unlocked manually, and the notifications will also include the username when locked/unlocked with a smart home. Performance. While the bolt works well so far, the Home app lags a bit sometimes. It seems to me that the Level Bolt app was a bit more responsive. I kept both on my phone to take advantage of the different features, but I will likely use the Home app more often because I can control other smart home devices from that app. The key for us will be reliability (will it work when we really need to unlock the door), battery life, and longevity (how long will it last before we have issues with it). Time will tell. Things I love. - Near universal fit on any door and easy installation - Connects to the Apple Home app - Ability to share access easily - Ability to be notified when the bolt is locked or unlocked, and by who Things I don’t love. - Sometimes there is a bit of lag in reflecting the status of the lock after it is activated. It can then take 20 to 30 seconds to activate it again - The black o-ring on the cap of the battery compartment does stay seated. I am not sure if I put it back exactly where it goes (see picture) Overall, this is a great solution to gain smart-lock functionality without having to change your external hardware. So far it works well and we are very happy. We recommend this lock

The Level Bolt is quite an amazing product. It not only allows you to remotely control the lock from your phone, but allows you to set up others in your household and guests outside your household for easy access on your terms. Pros: - Installation was very straightforward; the instructions are excellent and I was able to get the physical installation done in less than 15 minutes. - Once working (see below re: app), the Level Bolt does exactly what is expected of it: it locks when you leave the house and automatically unlocks when you arrive and are in close proximity to the door. - Ability to add other household members and guests for "on-demand" access - The device feels solid. It uses the exterior components of the existing deadbolt and feels just as sturdy. - The app: the app is both a pro and a con. The app works very well once you've navigated the "Works With" integration - which, at the time of installation, are Apple HomeKit and Alexa (with Amazon sidewalk enabled). Once set up, the device worked very well with Apple HomeKit but I was unsuccessful in integrating it with Amazon/Alexa. Cons: - The app: I wish the app had integrations with Google and more straightforward integration directly with Alexa. To use Alexa, you *must* enable Amazon Sidewalk (which I did and still couldn't get it to actually work correctly). The instructions for HomeKit are not very clear and it took some trial and error. - Lock function: the lock does exactly what you would expect it to do *most* of the time. There have been a few occasions where Apple HomeKit has thrown back an "connection error," despite being right at the lock location. - Security: I installed the Level Bolt from my garage in to my mud room. Installing at the front door to utilize Ring would have been great, but I had some security concerns as the lock is set to auto-unlock as you approach the door. Having this on a purely exterior door caused me to pause and think about security. Overall, the Level Bolt is a huge step forward in home automation. I expect the app will receive updates (as well as the lock) to work out some of the minor bugs. I do hope they find a way to integrate with Google and more directly with Alexa, without requiring Amazon Sidewalk to be enabled. I would definitely recommend this Level Bolt.

Thank you for your thoughtful review. We are thrilled to hear the installation process was simple and straightforward for you. Please note, to use your Bolt with Alexa you must first have your lock connected to an Amazon Sidewalk Bridge (currently only the Ring Video Doorbell Pro, 3rd Gen), and set it up in the Ring app. For more information on how to connect, visit https://level.co/support/articles/1500005994221

Additionally, to address your security concern, if the lock does not experience a bolt state change or door swing event within 5 minutes of a successful Auto-Unlock, it will Auto-Lock for safety.

Not one to ever carry a house key - now if I have my smartphone, I have peace of mind that I can get in my house in case of power outage or garage door fail. This is a nice option as it works with your existing lock hardware – no need to rekey, etc. - highly recommend. But be aware it uses Bluetooth for connection – not wifi – which limits connection range to your phone. To use remotely you need Apple Homekit or Ring hub. Nicely packaged and feels very solid. Has step by step instructions and come with all hardware you should need for typical install. Manufacturer’s site has detailed size and measurements for install. You can adjust bolt length to connect to motor as well as bolt length using included long cap. I have replaced door locks before so that certainly helped but if you follow the steps, it should go smoothly. It did not fit the existing hole on my custom sized solid wood front door (motor to large). But it did fit all my other standard sized patio and garage doors. I decided on one of my patio doors and it was quick work to install. The provided Strike Plate was smaller and screw holes did not match up with the existing plate, so I did have to determine where bolt came thru and drill a couple of new holes. Having a cordless drill made it easier but Phillips screwdriver is pretty much all you should need and maybe a rubber mallet (or something similar) to gently help seat the lock. I did not have to adjust the bolt or use the provided long cap. After manually making sure it locked/unlocked smoothly I installed battery and Level app on my Android phone and was ready to go. Also installed Homekit app on my wife’s Apple phone (back of instructions has scan code making it even easier) and after installing it easily found lock as well. The Level app allows you to set Auto-Lock or Unlock times, Sound level, Boost range (uses more battery), calibrate bolt movement and gives battery status. Seems to have quality construction and is much heavier than I imagined. So, expect it to last a long time, but where I live it gets extremely hot and dusty. Patio door does face east which helps but over the weekend it was 114 in the shade and the lock still worked fine. But do worry about impact on battery life, fortunately it uses an easy to find CR2 type. The only “issue” I have is you need an Apple Homekit or Ring hub to use remotely – neither of which I have. They seem to have thought of everything to make for easy installation/use/maintenance. Construction seems first rate as well giving sense of security. Great product
