Chose this over the Dell 2720Q. Solid value!!

For those looking for other reviews online for this monitor (27UP80B-W), just note that this is the retail version of the 27UP850. The main difference is the stand included on this version is not adjustable.
I bought this LG and the Dell 2720Q. Both were very comparable in terms of specs. I was super torn because I liked the build quality (plus the lack of bottom bezel) of the dell better, but the LG was ultimately brighter. I ended up returning the dell and purchasing this monitor again thanks to the sale price. I figured I could buy two of these monitors for just a little over the price of one Dell monitor.
Overall, I'm a big fan of this monitor. I'm using both of them with my Mac Studio and the colors are solid out of the box. It's even better once you calibrate it. I'm loving that it uses USB-C and has PD when I decide to plug my MacBook in it. It's also super bright and has decent contrast for an IPS display.
The build quality is decent for the price, but I wish it felt as solid as the Dell 2720. The bottom bezel sort of bothered me in the beginning, but I've noticed it less in the weeks I've used it. The stand it comes with is trash. It's not adjustable at all and it's a bit wobbly, but it is VESA mountable and would highly recommend mounting this monitor on a monitor arm.
One thing to mention if you go with this monitor is to turn off the power saving function inside the OSD. With it in on, it automatically turns the brightness down and it caused me about 10 minutes of frustration in the beginning. Once I turned it off, it was smooth sailing.
For the quality and features it comes, you can't beat it at this price. Highly recommended.

I have this screen connected to MacBook pro. The screen from my MacBook isn't just big enough to see small stuff. I'm impressed of how the color comes out what isn't 100% but it's good enough to do Lightroom and Photoshop. If I needed perfect color than I wouldn't use it but for everything else it's great. Wasn't that expensive.
Thank you to the young man who pointed me to this monitor.

I was looking to upgrade from an LG 27UD58-B, something with a wide color gamut and basic support for HDR gaming on PS5. Was able to get this monitor at an amazing discount for $299 and it's a heck of a value at that price.
I use this primarily for programming and web development work on a MacBook Pro. The USB C port on the back works perfect for charging and displaying content while the MacBook is in clamshell mode. I would not recommend enabling HDR mode in MacOS as it tends to wash everything out and most websites only operate in the standard sRGB color space anyhow. Even running this monitor at a scaled resolution within MacOS ("looks like 2560x1440") the text is incredibly sharp and the colors are vibrant without any noticeable color shift.
The stand for the monitor, while it is an improvement on the LG 27UD58-B I was using previously, is just okay. There is some wobble while typing, but nothing too bad. It's not a height adjustable stand so if you need that, I would recommend picking up a 100x100 VESA monitor stand or arm on Amazon.
The speakers on this monitor are unremarkable as expected, but if you're just looking to have some background noise while working or listening to podcasts, it's perfect for that and does the job nicely. For watching movies or gaming , you'd be better served with a set of dedicated speakers or headphones. If you're on MacOS, you can install the app called "Monitor Control" and it will allow you to configure screen brightness and volume via the standard media keys on your keyboard.
I'm not a PC gamer nor do I play anything competitive, so this monitor performs well for me just playing on a PS5. While this monitor doesn't have any local dimming or high contrast levels to really make HDR pop, it does include the wide color gamut and a global dimming solution that looks pretty good by my standards. With this being an IPS panel, the contrast ratios are not going to be as good as something like a VA panel, so to make up for this I'd recommend installing a simple LED back light behind the monitor and setting it as close to 6500K white as you can. It dramatically improves the perceived contrast ratios when playing games, especially in a dark or dimly lit room.
All in all, this is a fantastic monitor, even at the regular price. But if you can get this on sale you're getting a steal of a monitor. Cheers.

LG = Little Gem

Bought this monitor strictly for 4k gaming on next Gen consoles and I’m blown away! The response time is rated @5ms but feels comparable to a 1ms Alienware I own. 4k @60fps feels and looks perfect on xbsx and ps5. Custom settings allow graphics to be fine tuned to perfection. Freesync is excellent on highest settings and the built in speakers sound fantastic. In the last 5 years I’ve owned several monitors 1080p, 1440p, 4k. 60hz 75hz 144hz 165hz &240hz. Curved and flat, but this Little Gem is definitely my favorite even over my Dell Alienware 1080p 240hz. Get this one and you won’t be disappointed.

Awesome monitor for MacBook Air M1

I got this monitor for my M1 MacBook Air and it works like a charm. I was a bit worried about the whole 4K thing since I read a lot about text looking blurry on these types of monitors but to my surprise, everything is crisp and clear! Can't beat that for less than $300! My monitor was an "open box - excellent" and it only had about 50 hours of use. It honestly looks and works as if it were brand new.
My absolute favorite detail is the USB-C input. It allows you to transfer the image while charging your MacBook. The only downside was that the monitor didnt include a USB-C cable but those are pretty easy to find elsewhere.
Anyway, this monitor is awesome and I recommend it to anyone!

This is an amazing IPS monitor for color fidelity, high resolution and brightness. i have been sing this monitor for 1.5 years and it never missed a beat. I am buying another of these to make a 48 inch wall mounted UHD wide extended display to work with CAD. All microLEDs are alive and firing away.

This mornitor, although the physical edge or plastic/lip/bezel is thin, visually the bezels are thick. There is a quarter inch of black bezels around the sides and top. The light up portion of the screen is a smaller area than the actual glass/screen. Dont expect super thin borders. The 27GN950 that I own has an even thinner border than this. The screen performance is great and colors are accurate and screen is good though. Photo on right is this monitor.

Before buying this monitor, I couldn't find any information(even on Lg's website), or any reviews on the internet for this model, hope this review helps future buyers. It's a 2021 model monitor and I believe this model is Bestbuy specific version of LG 27UP850-W(Except the BestBuy version does not have an adjustable stand). Macbook recognizes it as Lg ultrafine series. All the cables, power adapter, and the back of the monitor are white.
Pros:
- Works flawlessly with Macbook Pro M1 and windows machines through USB-c connection.
- It has 96W power output through USB-c(same as MacBook Pro charger), and it charges your laptop while plugged in.
- Colors are fantastic and very accurate when compared to MacBook's screen.
- It has a specific calibration menu if you need it.
- Very minimal backlight bleeding from corners.
- Brightness uniformity is very good.
- Very bright screen(using it @25% during daytime)
- Lots of picture modes for different use cases
- It has 2x5W speakers, not perfect but very good.
- Lots of inputs
Cons:
- It doesn't have an adjustable stand, It can only be adjusted for tilt(no height/pivot adjustment).
- As it's an IPS panel, it lacks contrast, blacks are not deep, mostly grayish. If you are planning to use it in a dark room or mostly planning to watch dark scenes, you may not like it. But its contrast is better than most IPS screens I have used.
- It's a bit pricey side.
- Its power adapter is huge(bigger than most gamer laptops adaptor).
-Its brightness, color mode, and speaker volume can not be adjusted within macOS or windows, you have to manually adjust them using the buttons on the monitor. (On macOS, there is an app called Lunar which lets you adjust the brightness and volume)

After using it for a few months, the monitor started having issues. In fact, shortly after buying it, this issues occurred a few times, but reconnecting the computer would sometimes fix it. However, recently, the problems have been persistent. It's becoming unbearable.

This is a fantastic 4K monitor with vibrant colors, crystal clear text, good HDR, and an incredible amount of inputs including usb-c.
I’m able to plug in my MacBook or Windows work laptop (an HP) directly into the monitor via USB-C, and it can charge the computers and connect them to the display with one cable. Plus the USB-A ports in the back can transmit data to your computer, so I’ve left a Logitech unifying receiver back there, and have my Scarlett audio interface plugged in as well. It’s like a docking station built into the monitor!
I debated giving this 4 starts because I had to exchange the first one due to excess backlight bleed in the corners and a bit too much IPS glow in dark scenes. Luckily the replacement doesn’t have these issues. And all the other features outweigh that small hassle of having to exchange it.

This thing has never missed a beat. It is without a doubt the best monitor or TV screen that I've ever had! I have had a Microsoft Surface Book 2 all of this time, and by hooking the monitor up through a USB hub that I have had hooked to my laptop, it has served as a second screen.
It was also the screen that I saw true 4K on for the first time, and it definitely looked fantastic! Well, my laptop could have technically had the first screen that I saw 4K on, as it was advertised to be 4K and had a resolution of 3240 x 2160. Which was very close to the resolution of this monitor, which is 3840 x 2160. I know that the first number is why it's supposed to be called 4K, but I tend to go by the second number of the resolution (the vertical resolution) because the first one is always changing in small amounts between all of the displays that I see. And then the second one seems to be more constant.
Think about it. The vertical resolution for pretty much anything called FHD (Full HD) or sometimes 2K, is 1080. For 4K, it's pretty much always 2160. And then there's that weird one in the middle, right? The one that looks much better than full HD, but not quite as good as 4K. The one that they like to call QHD (Quad HD). The one with the second number that's almost always 1440.
And since no one seems to ever be able to agree on what is what, in my mind I just call anything with the second number, or vertical resolution, that's 1080, 2K. If it's 1440 I call it 3K. And if it's 2160 I call it 4K. But that's just me. It makes things much simpler. Heck, if you explore the current vertical resolutions and the history of vertical resolutions of standard cell phones and flagship cell phones, it kind of looks like we've all been played for fools all of this time. But that's another story...
Sorry to go off on a tangent. And so, back to this LG monitor. There's only a couple of things that I didn't like so much. The main thing being that it didn't have a remote of any kind included with it. Because since this monitor has a VESA mount, I had gotten a compatible arm mount to clamp to the table. And then on my desk there is a second slightly higher level not far in front of me that I let the bottom of the monitor lay flat against. Well, that presented a problem since the button that controls everything is underneath the bottom frame of the monitor in the center. Fortunately for me though, once the settings were how I wanted them, I didn't really have to use the button very often, and haven't since. But on the other hand, I probably would have utilized the settings more often and had an even better experience with this monitor than I already did, if I would have had a remote to control it with.

Absolutely love it! I was looking for a USB-C monitor to ease moving between computers and this does the job. Speakers are OK, its a little annoying that it doesn't autoswitch from HDMI to USB-C, but those are minor - picture is great. I've gamed a little on it with a PS5 and used several computers with it. Would buy again in a second if I had another need.

May change this review after using it longer, it's only been a day so far - but I am amazed at how good this looks. Recently got a Mac Studio after using a 2020 16" MBP (which has a great screen). I was initially considering the LG Ultrasharp 5k which is several years old, or the Studio Display. After days of research I randomly came across this monitor suggested. Plugged it in and it immediately works and looks amazing. I downloaded an app called BetterDisplay and have it scaled to 1920x1080 HiDPI, and it looks great. I purchased it to do graphic work. Installing the stand was a little clumsy, and it is seemingly only tilt-adjustable. Also feels kind of cheap, but I don't really care about that since I have it set up where I need it and wont be touching it again.

This is the first monitor that I have ever bought, and the resolution and picture quality is amazing. I have it in SDR currently because I don't have a computer right now, and I have been using a school Chromebook. But even in SDR it looks amazing. I can't wait to get the full experience in HDR soon.
