Customers appreciate the 27UL600-W monitor's exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and impressive HDR performance. Many also find it to be a good value for its price and easy to set up. However, some users note limitations with the stand, lack of built-in speakers, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The absence of height adjustment is also a point of concern for some customers.

LG - 27UL600 (27” version, IPS LED 4K, HDR, Freesync). I’ll admit that I’m lured into the next best thing in computer monitors. LG has been my recent go-to because it is setting the standard in what computer monitors can achieve, and at a rational price. The image is spectacular with compatible media that includes HDR encoding. They’ve even got a setting that does a very credible “HDR Effect” which enhances non-HDR signals.. . . with some suggestions noted below. I’m searching for 4K movies and videos to illustrate the higher performance that this LG is certified to achieve. But, it doesn’t take test equipment to see the improvements. ABOUT HDR: There seems to be some confusion about HDR. + IF you have HDR encoded programming (almost always in combination with 4k resolution, although they are different technologies) it will include information instructing the LG monitor to expand levels of brightness and contrast to achieve the image envisioned by the movie/TV/game developers. The LG also knows to substitute in a different group of PICTURE MODES. However, even though YOU may know the media was HDR enabled, it does not mean your computer, or cables, or cable adapters passed it along to the LG. For example, Apple on my 13”, 2017 MacBook Pro, does not enable HDR, so 4k programs will not trigger the HDR in monitors like this HDR enabled LG. + HDR is not triggered and would likely not improve SDR (non-HDR) images. HOWEVER, the “HDR Effect” setting on the LG UL600 does a remarkable job making these images (especially 4K) look rich, with broader contrast and brighter whites. It appears to expand the dynamic range of appropriate programming. Just not every program. And certainly not most of your other computer Apps. It is NOT intended as a “use it on everything” feature. + HDR in the world of video/gaming is NOT the same as HDR in photography. These two industries (photo and video) seriously messed up using the same terminology for different processes. We didn’t need more confusion. SETUP and CONTROL: I’ve got a professionally calibrated LG OLED 4K HDR TV within view as I setup my new LG computer monitor, so I’m pretty familiar with what video image perfection looks like. I’ve also got my reference strip of black velour fabric, and a calibration image on the screen as I adjust the contrast, brightness, and color settings. (The eye is easily fooled, so reference images and other simple tools can make setup and evaluations more reliable.) Loading in a 4K movie and the first important hurdle is crossed . . . after some fussing with cables, plugging and unplugging, and restarting. It’s not the monitor. Copy protection issues!!! The computer and monitor eventually recognize each other and Netflix and Vudu stop complaining about “error due to HDCP”. It took only an hour to sort out the right settings and no problems recurred. In that time I successfully used DisplayPort and HDMI cable, with and without a few adapters, and across several brands. LG provides a downloadable APP (Mac and PC), OnScreen Controls which adds or repeats a variety of settings. Not all of them. Screen split controls are here. The idea that you need to have monitors specialized for different tasks no longer makes sense after you use OnScreen. This is a monitor that doesn’t need to make compromises because it gives me the ability to create any mix of image parameters I prefer . . . right down to assigning them to various specific applications on my computer! When I click on an application, the monitor changes to the picture parameters I selected for that Application. Very cool!!. If I’ve got an array of LG monitors, it’ll let me set them up differently. I think it will satisfy a broad range of end users like me who want a work computer, a photographers tool, a video display, and a game screen. Yes. It’s that flexible. PERFORMANCE: The LG 27UL600 blew me away with crisp, colorful, bright images. It is not an OLED. It lacks absolute black performance, as does any other IPS LCD monitor. It creates increased contrast by providing a significant amount of brightness. It will tolerate the sun coming in nearby windows. Frankly, for most of my daytime work I customized the REC709 setting (around 35% brightness, 45% contrast) so my eyes wouldn’t get tired. On the other hand, I had no problem using HDR Effect for Netflix programs. during the day. With that LG OLED in the family room, I won’t care about evenings. I know the measured NITS is “only” 350-400, but not so many years back, monitors/TVs would have had 100 to 200 nits and not 15% of this LG’s resolution. We are definitely spoiled. It’s a beautiful monitor, with invisible pixels, and gorgeous color, and excellent compatibility with many computers.. COMPLAINTS: I’n not inclined to blame LG for the bad behavior of UHD copy protection. I do wish LG provided more guidance in their User Guide. I really love when high performance equipment includes primers on advanced features. What customers don’t understand, they will complain about. That push button menu at the underside of the monitor became intermittently non-responsive when I switched cables, or even if I switched menu sizes. No troubleshooting facts or RESET instructions provided. Only a full reboot of my computer and unplugging the monitor got me back. And, that bump out on the rear of the monitor for attaching the stand gets in the way if you are mounting the monitor onto certain mobile stands. It forces the bottom of the monitor out a few degrees (too many). I’ve modified my mounting plate. LG phone customer service has been an occasional issue in the past, and again they were not helpful at all. They directed me back to the store. SUMMARY: I’ve only been playing for a few days, so this is only the beginning. But, I’m confident that there is more than enough image dynamic range to completely satisfy me. This is strong performance across a wide range of activities. The absence of the deepest blacks (compared to “Zero” levels in an OLED) is pretty typical across brands, and not an issue for my photography. None of my printers generate “inky” blacks. Coming from my 24” LG 4K monitor from 2 years ago, the new LG isn’t just bigger, it’s totally brilliant and more colorful. The images are stunning and the monitor provides the best images I’ve seen.

    5 FT POWER CABLE!!!

You've been warned. LG is now shipping this monitor with a 5 foot long power cable. I have purchased four of these in the past for our office and they came with a 9 foot long power cable. I don't think this length will work with most people's set ups. In my photo you'll see that the cable doesn't even reach the ground. It does say in the manual that you have the chance of getting either the 5' or 9' version. However in my opinion this is totally unacceptable. How do you cheap out on a power cord with a monitor that costs upwards of $400? I unfortunately can no longer recommend this monitor.

LG - 27UL600-W 27" IPS LED 4K UHD FreeSync Monitor with HDR --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Review***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The LG 27UL600-W, the successor to the widely popular and reviewed 27UK series by LG. The main question that everyone has is… Is it good and is it worth upgrading? Let’s dive right in and see how the LG 27UL600 performs. Keep in mind, the difference between the LG 27UL600 and the 27UL650 is mainly the stand. Here we go! Right off the bat, comparing my LG 27UL600 to my friends LG 27UK750 is practically identical. The build quality is definitely nice on these LG monitors so if you have/liked the UK series, you shouldn’t be disappointed in the UL series. As far as connectivity options, the UL and UK series is practically the same; the only difference is that the UL has a DisplayPort 1.4 while the UK has a DisplayPort of 1.2. This is probably the part you want to read the most, performance! Before I explain any comparisons between the LG UL and LG UK, I have to say that the LG 27UL600-W on its own is a very good monitor. As far as picture quality goes, it’s definitely nice and I have no complaints when it comes down to viewing angles, color accuracy, or crispness. The monitor itself has really good SDR brightness while HDR is mediocre at best due to the lack of wide color range and low peak brightness. So my complaint is with the HDR. There’s really no benefit here on this monitor and it may even be worse if your monitor is in a dark or poorly lit environment; blacks appear gray. I tested this by playing movies, YouTube and playing games. With HDR enabled, it was honestly not that pleasing… So I would HIGHLY recommend you leaving it on SDR as opposed to HDR. Comparing the UK series with the UL series, the performance is very similar. Brightness for my particular UL600 is on point while the colors are accurate. When it comes down to Vesa DisplayHDR 400, I don’t notice much of a difference when compared to HDR 10. One particular feature that I noticed that the UL series has over the UK series is a custom color mode. On my friends LG UK monitor, there’s basically preset options only. This is definitely a plus for those that want to customize their colors as opposed to going with manufacture presets. When it comes to utilizing the Freesync/Gsync option on the monitor, I didn’t have any problems enabling it for my 2080. Make sure to set your monitor to Freesync Extended Mode. Although the UL series monitor is limited to 60hz, I still like enabling the Freesync/Gsync option so that I don’t experience any screen tearing. If you notice any screen tearing for whatever reason after enabling, make sure to enable VSync in your Nvidia control panel. During my gameplay sessions of BV5 and other various games, I didn’t notice any screen tearing or input lag which is definitely a plus. I was honestly wowed when it comes down to the performance for the LG - 27UL600 while gaming. Overall, I have to say that although I am impressed because I don’t have the LG UK monitor that my friend has; I wouldn’t jump to purchase the LG UL monitor if you have the LG UK monitor. Reason being, I feel like both monitors are very similar and the UL is just a refresh of the UK. BUT! If you’re looking for an excellent SDR monitor that has HDR support (although a bit lacking IMO), 4K, produces accurate colors, supports wide viewing angles and is from a reputable brand that can perform; I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase the LG 27UL600-W. So it ultimately depends on what you currently have and if you want the upgrade. But at the end on terms of just the LG - 27UL600, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others that are on a search for a new monitor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****Quick Features & Specs***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4K Ultra HD 3840 x 2160 resolution 5 ms response time 60 Hz refresh rate 27" antiglare LED monitor FreeSync Technology 2 HDMI and DisplayPort inputs 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles 1,000:1 contrast ratio 350 cd/m² brightness ENERGY STAR certified --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *****What's in the box***** --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LG 27UL600-W DisplayPort cable HDMI cable AC Adapter

Set up was very easy. I chose to follow MFG recommendations and used the supplied cable and installed the LG driver which I usually don't do! The first thing I found interesting is no buttons to press. Everything is controlled by a joy stick placed just behind the bottom of the screen on the stand. Very handy and quick access to screen preferences and settings. Someone had a Great Idea!! There are 11 Picture Modes, one of them being custom. My favorite of course is HDR Effect. I find the color effects are mostly on the warm side if you leave to the factory defaults. There are also gaming preferences. FreeSync is off by default. Connections: Two HDMI, One Display Port. One Audio Out. I checked my windows 10 audio and found the monitor was automatically among the list in the speaker tray. Display Split Screens: There are 12 split screen combinations up to 8 splits. There are 4 PIP screens. You can set the response times from Normal to Fast or Faster and there is a Black Stabilizer slide selection. You can customize Picture modes to remember settings for different applications. You can set Display orientation for Landscape or Portrait and even Flip the screens. I did watch some BluRay Movies with zero issues, was very pleased. Ok, Theres got to be a down side somewhere. I do not like the stand. It looks modern, But for me, it takes up desk realestate. Just not practical as I need space for music recording gear interfaces and such. Other wise, this is a very functional monitor in terms of electronic choice of varied functionality. The most advanced that I've seen in a long time. Thumbs up to LG for this fantastic Monitor.

Dead pixel after only two months! I konw it is very common to have a dead pixel, but I just use it only for two months. I am a little obsessive-compulsive disorder, so this dead pixel is a disaster to me. I also have a dell monitor and it works for almost 1 year without any problem. So, think twice before buying it.

I've had this now for a while for my PC/PS4 pro and Samsung DEX mode. On the PC I'm getting the most of the Freesync and HDR in my games. And on the PS4 it looks wonderful with the HDR 4k functionality. Due note there are no built in speakers but for me that was fine since I picked up some and plugged them directly into the monitor and its worked out perfectly. The two cons I have about this is no hight adjustment, but you could also get a aftermarket stand or mount. And the second is the lack of auto switching between inputs. All and all great price to performance value if your looking for a rich color 60hz 4k monitor with VES cert 400 HDR.

    Photography/Gaming Review

I bought this mainly for editing my photos, but also to do some light gaming on it. EDITING: This is fantastic for editing my photos on. The colors pop more than they do on my camera LCD, as well as more than they did on my 1080p editing monitor. This monitor has HDR. Although it’s 8-bit + FRC, it can mimic HDR10, which is the standard. Most low budget 4K HDR enables TVs employ the same 8 bit + FRC to accomplish the HDR10 effect. This isn’t bad. My advice is if you’re looking for a small 4K HDR monitor, this is a great choice. If you’re looking for larger, then consider the 43” TCL 5 series TV. It’s performs excellent as a PC monitor and is under $300 USD. GAMING: This monitor can handle AAA games just fine. Just remember, it’s all up to your graphics cards at this point. I have a GTX 1060 6GB and I can drive 4K gaming at low/medium. Here’s a list of games, settings, and how many FPS I was getting: WoW: High. 95-110 Destiny 2: Medium. 65-99 (Best set to 60 locked) Fortnite: High. 85-100 (Best set to 60 locked) Overwatch: High. 90-105 Black Ops 4: Medium. 90-117 BLOPS4 Blackout: Medium. 80-110 My suggestion for those with NVIDIA cards, enable G-Sync on this monitor and enable in-game V-sync. It’ll help reduce screen tearing a bit, but won’t prevent it. This is what helped me: Enable V-sync and limit FPS to 58 in-game, and you’ll get a consistent 60 FPS for all of your games. It cuts down on screen tearing and it still plays fast enough for shooter games.

I bought this monitor for my work and gaming needs. I already have a laptop with 4K screen but wanted to have a larger display. I bought a 1080p monitor but the difference between the two displays (i.e between my 4K laptop screen and 1080p monitor) was pretty obvious. So I thought I should get a 4K monitor to avoid a major step down in visual quality. And this monitor did not disappoint. All my games looks crisp and so do my spreadsheets. One of the excellent features is that there are pre-configured screen setting for your comfort. I have it set at HDR effect, but there are 10 other options to chose from, which is amazing. Also, for the price, this is such a good deal. At first I was concerned that being a 4k screen, it might not be as slender as I would have liked but it actually is sleek monitor, not too broader than other non 4K screen. All in all, a great product on a even better price.

Picture is super crisp. This is my only 4k monitor so I struggle to compare it to other UHD monitors, but so far it has been great. I use it for PS5 streaming setup and the colors are just gorgeous. No tearing or anything like that. My ONLY problem with this monitor is that you must have all parts of the base resting on a surface to keep it upright- which is fine if you just want to place it on a desk. If you need adjustable height, get the package that has it. I tried to set it up with smaller risers and it just refuses to stay upright. This thing will tip forward! Again, REALLY nice monitor in itself, just be prepared to get a base or another monitor arm to prop it up if you need more height.

I was comparing to the LG monitor at Apple, and when it came down to it, really that much difference other than the price. We're talking a savings of $250.00 with this monitor. Came today, took it out of the box and mounted it on my dual monitor stand. Very easy to install and WOW! Crazy good display, watching my movies on my new monitor streaming from Apple TV and Netflix were just as crisp, clear and best of all it adapts well to my Mac Book Pro 16" laptop. Very pleased!! Especially saving $250.00 compared to the LG at Apple of $699.00!

This is a really good monitor, I got it for gaming to use instead of my 4k tv. After adjusting the settings in nvidia control panel and monitor interface, the display looks just as good as it did on my Samsung 4k tv, very bright and colors are vibrant. Being an IPS panel makes a big difference, looks amazing. I don't recommend TN panels if you really like stunning colors like me. I originally tried a TN panel 1080p 144hz monitor right before I got this one, but I returned it because the 4k 60hz looks so very much better, and I play mostly single player games. Since they run at 60fps or higher, I don't have any problem with the 60hz refresh rate for my games, everything looks very smooth and fluent. The monitor's settings menu is very robust with many options to change how the screen looks, I got my display looking very bright and colorful. The super resolution options makes games looks a lot better, very impressed with that. It also comes with a nice Displayport cable (make sure you use that for the best quality picture). The monitor does not swivel on the stand, but it does tilt up and down. The stand looks fairly stylish and I like the white back of the monitor. I would highly recommend this monitor for gamers who want to get into 4k, but don't want to spend the money on higher refresh rate 4k screens. 4k is very beautiful on a screen this size (27"'), looks worlds better than 1080p if your hardware can handle it. This is a good bargain and I'm very satisfied with my purchase, LG has put together a really good quality and nice looking monitor.

I stumbled across this and had to pick it up when I saw the price point and the specs. I'm currently using a PS4 Pro and Apple TV 4K on my monitor and the HDR w/ 4K is amazing! I think the size of this monitor is perfect for gaming or working. I ended up picking up an aux splitter and I'm thinking about getting an HDMI hub since there are only 2 ports. But it has been a great upgrade from what I had before. Highly recommend! I just wish it has a higher refresh rate. But at the time of this review you have to sacrifice resolution or FPS. I'm not regretting choosing resolution.

Got this monitor on sale a few days ago and man am I blown away. I bought this monitor specifically for my PS4 Pro and it works flawlessly. The Pro only supports 1080p or 4K and nothing in between (2K). As soon as I hooked it up I noticed a huge difference from my Acer gaming monitor which was 1080p. As soon as you open a game it'll ask you to adjust the HDR or if you go straight to settings you can do it as well. Took me about 2mins to do it and set the MODE to FPS and we were good to go. Modern Warefare looks amazing! No lag or anything of that sort. My Acer had a 1ms response time and this one is 5ms and I don't even notice the difference. The build and quality is great but I do have one CON which isn't a big deal and that is the back. The back of this monitor is white! Absolutely nothing wrong with that but my gaming set up is primarily dark themed. I'm getting used to it and you can't really see the back anyways. More of a conscious thing to be honest. Anyways! If you're looking to game on this for the PS4 Pro don't hesitate and go for it!

Amazing Monitor, Slightly Wobbly Stand Though

TL;DR: Amazing monitor with great color accuracy and even decent for gaming. Just know the stand is a bit wobbly so be careful on wobbly furniture. Best used with vesa stand. Otherwise, great quality and well worth every penny. So, here's the long version... As a PC gamer, I love having great image quality and I think this monitor is perfect for it. Bright colors, nice contrast, etc. One thing that surprised me was that when I checked for backlight bleed (a common problem with IPS displays where parts of the screen are under pressure or are not crimped enough) and it was literally near impossible to see any. That is very good. I literally had to go into a pitch black room and set the screen to all black to even see the slightest bit of bleed. You have to look really close to even see any bleed at all, and even then the difference is so tiny that it doesn't affect anything. I love this especially for night time gaming sessions as backlight bleed can definitely ruin things when there is a lack of light. So, what's the issues with it you may ask? Well, honestly the only gripe I have with it is that the stand is a bit wobbly and of course, you can't pivot it so there's that, but thankfully it has a vesa mount so that's that that big of a deal. Just watch out if you have a wobbly desk as the movement will be amplified by the stand, Other than that, good monitor and still a decent stand, especially for the small footprint. Definitely recommend. I feel that the wobbly stand isn't enough to down rate the quality side of things though. It's just nothing to write home about. I'd only find this minorly annoying if vesa mounting wasn't an option. It's clear it is better suited on a vesa mount rather than just on the included stand.

Amazing picture quality! I use this with my SX and PS5 and it supports everything except the 120Hz which I don't see being offered that often for this generation of gaming. We are more likely to see 4K 60 with RT instead. I bought this on sale for $280 and would highly recommend at that price point.

I purchased two of these LG monitors for WFH purposes as well as photo editing and other personal reasons. Others' reviews indicated that these were pretty bright and had dynamic colors. I've been using them for just over three weeks, and they've met my needs very well. I like the color saturation, and these seem like they have dynamic range. As others noted, these are bright out of the box; mine were also bright for me, so I turned them down. Each monitor came with an HDMI cable, a DisplayPort cable, an AC power brick, and fixed-height stands (the LG monitors that I use at work are height-adjustable). The back of the monitor has two HDMI and one DisplayPort jack, so I can keep one of each cable connected. I would like them to sit higher, so I plan on building a short wooden shelf to go under them. They do pivot where they connect to the stand, so there is some adjustment, but that's it out of the box. It appears that there is also the option to mount these to a VESA mount for either wall-mounting or sit-stand options (I don't have either of these, so I can't rate how well this feature works). I have 24" monitors at work, so these are slightly larger. The added real estate allows me to see more of my spreadsheets (I work in budget), which I think helps my productivity. The footprint for each monitor is just right for my space, and switching between systems is seamless. I am currently using them with my work laptop (Dell, Windows 10) using HDMI through a DisplayLink device, and my personal laptop (early MacBook Pro Retina) using DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort dongles. I haven't had any issues switching these between the two systems; they simply work with both. There is just one toggle in the middle of the bottom of the monitor. For my desk setup, it's easy to access. I find it fairly easy to use (as far as monitor toggles are concerned), and the menu is intuitive. The monitors automatically detect the HDMI connection when my Windows laptop is connected, but I have to switch them when plugging in the MacBook, which is about four button clicks and isn't difficult. There are a number of pre-set picture modes, but I keep it at custom. Overall, I'm happy with these. I heard that LED panels can have color change over time, so I'll keep an eye on that. I also hope that these monitors last a few years.

Great quality product, great image, colours and sharpness. Picture-wise, there’s nothing to complain about, except possibly the refresh rate. But hey, 4K@60Hz is still good. What’s missing here is the possibility to adjust the monitor on its stand. You can only tilt it, slightly. No big deal overall, but it would’ve been nice to have. That main issue however, is the inexplicable missing feature which automatically switches between active inputs. It’s mind-boggling how that is not available on this monitor. It might not matter to a lot of people who use this with single input, but, if, like me, you use the monitor with say work laptop and PC, or like I’ve seen others use this monitor with PS5 and Xbox, it does not know how to switch between inputs automatically. Say you are working, you turn on your PC to check something out on that, then leave your PC on and go back to work, switching this monitor to your work laptop. At the end of your day, you turn off your work laptop and you expect your monitor to automatically bring up your PC screen. Guess what it does, though? Complains there’s no input and goes to sleep. You then manually have to wake it up and select the proper input your PC is on. God forbid you leave the input to your PC. Next morning, when you wake up and fire up work... nothing happens. You have to manually wake up the stupid thing and select the appropriate input. Very annoying and frustrating. I have no idea who thought this was a good thing, or something that should not be supported/available on a ~$450 monitor. I never thought this was something you’d have to check for on a monitor before buying it. I actually thought about switching to an Acer that’s almost half the price and has a larger screen, but ended up sticking with this because, overall, technically, it’s a much better monitor. It’s so sad though that it’s missing such a basic feature. If it had that, then no question, hands down, 5 stars. This way, only 4. Too bad, though.

Beautiful 4K picture. The refresh rate may be limited if you are a real gamer - but for most people you are going to be happy. I work from home and am a full time programmer so I always had dual monitor setup. Once I put one next to the my old 1080p - it is no comparison to this 4k and HDR. One bad thing - the two I bought do not line up exactly. It isn't as precise as it should be.
