ABOUT ME: I am a college student that enjoys casual gaming and movie watching. I purchased this monitor for $299.00.
I bought this monitor for my new gaming desktop. I have had it for a few days and there are already some things that I really like, and some things that I need to get used to.
First off, this is an Ultrawide monitor. That means that it has the same resolution of a 1920x1080p (1080p HD), but it has more pixels length-wise. This adds about 4-5 inches of extra screen room to use, which is VERY nice. You will need to search specifically for Ultrawide screen wallpapers if you want to cover the entirety of this screen. If you have a second monitor that ISN'T Ultrawide, this could cause some problems when it comes to finding a wallpaper and placing your icons on the desktop.
I often find myself having to move my head from side to side to see the whole monitor. It comes with software that you can install to be able to split the screen in half which makes two player gaming okay, I guess. I have not used that feature. However, the width of the screen allows for two FULL pages to be displayed, which is nice because it can act as dual monitors without the ugly bezel between the screens.
Another thing about this ultrawide screen is that its aspect ratio is 21:9, NOT 16:9, like most other monitors. That means that it does not stretch text to make it bigger. It adds screen space without enlarging the things on the screen. 21:9 is also what most Hollywood feature films are shot in, so watching movies on this monitor is amazing because you do not get the black bars at the top or bottom of the screen. However, most TV shows ARE filmed in 16:9, so watching TV shows on this monitor will give you black bars. Gaming is also a blast on this monitor (if the games you play support 2560x1080). If you are running graphics intense games, it can run a little bit harder on your graphics card than a regular 16:9 monitor, but it's nothing too noticeable.
One thing that I noticed about using this monitor was the brightness of the screen and the colors that it displays. The brightness is nowhere near what my ASUS monitor can be brightened to, and this is because this LG is an IPS lit, not an LED lit. Although the monitor doesn't get very bright, the colors on it are phenomenal. The reds and greens really pop out at you, and the blues seem to be as real as the ocean.
I am adjusting to the differences between my old monitor and my new one. I think that this monitor is a definite buy if you are a movie/game lover and/or video editor because of the extra screen real estate that you get with this 29-inch monitor. However, if you watch a lot of netflix or TV on your monitor, you might want to look for something that is in the 16:9 aspect ratio range.
Pros:
-Big screen
-Decent Resolution (2560x1080p) [21:9]
-Movie watching/Game playing is a blast
-Decent build quality
-Split screen feature to use multiple applications at once
-Comes with an HDMI cable
-Nice, small bezels don't overwhelm sides of screen
-Vibrant colors
Cons:
-Only HDMI ports (2), no VGA or other ports
-Screen isn't very bright, it's hard to use in a really bright room
-Odd monitor control button (I like that feature, but it may take a while to figure out if you are unfamiliar with it)
-The resolution isn't any higher than 1080p
Games I play:
-Squad
-World of Warships
-Sid Miers Civilization V
-Minecraft
-Hurtworld

I usually required more than one monitor for my work tasks. The ultra wide monitor allows me to work from home without having to purchase a secondary monitor and still gives me the flexibility to be able to view different items at the same time.

I never thought I would ever own an Ultra Wide monitor for the fact that they were just not at a reasonable price. but This one at the time of purchase was $250 on sale. The Monitor is perfect for every use with the 5ms response time and this being an IPS monitor it makes it perfect for gaming.

I use this in conjunction with non-linear, timeline based editing applications...both audio (Pro Tools,) and video (Premier.) The added screen real estate minimizes side-scrolling of the timeline (and mix window) when editing/mixing.

So if you currently have a couple of smaller screen side by side this is must better. Looks great in desk very clean look. I Curley use this and one 24" dell in portrait mode and I get some much great feedback from everyone who see the setup.

I bought this for my monitor for my apple macbook pro retina 13 inch model. At first it took a lot of tinkering to get my computer to output in 21:9 but after I fixed the kinks it performs beautifully. This monitor is excellent for designing, coding, and any kind of tasks that benefit from high productivity. This monitor can just as easily be combined to a standard aspect ratio monitor for added screen space. I truly feel as though it has benefited my workflow significantly and I would most definitely recommend it!
It is important to note that people using OS X require a 4k HDMI to MiniDisplay Port/Thunderbolt adapter and some extra software to get the monitor to work with the Apple computers! However, if you are running Bootcamp it will work out of the box.

I was shopping around the local BB when I came across this monitor at $199 ($200 off). I have been looking at picking up an Ultra Wide monitor and putting my dual 27" monitors. I snatched up this monitor and couldn't be happier.
First off, the stats on this monitor are great for normal computing, CAD, and gaming. The size of this monitor comes down to about 2 monitors side-by-side with a little extra in the middle. When gaming, you get a wider perspective of what is going on which has been great. I am also able to snap two different applications to each side of the monitor while browsing the web.
The new plan is to pickup two more of these and create a nice surround experience.

Excellent Monitor & Screen Split Software

I bought this when it was a deal of the day for $199.99. It was worth every penny. I used to hook my laptop to my TV when working on large spreadsheets. After hooking up the laptop to this monitor, I was stunned by the difference. Working on large spreadsheets is much easier with the higher monitor resolution, and the screen split software makes it easy to define different screen areas so I can keep 2 or more windows open at once without having to toggle between them. I have a dual 15 in. monitor setup at work, but I much prefer working on this 29 in. monitor at home. For what I paid for it, I feel like I stole it!!!

Excellent quality monitor.. takes a little while to get used to the wide screen for everyday use but after that you will appreciate the tons of screen space for multitasking.. Even though it is a 29 inch monitor it isnt really that big.. height wise it is the same or maybe even smaller than my previous 25.6 inch monitor but it is very wide.. haven't played any games on it yet but see no reason why it cant be good for gaming specially newer games and video cards that support this monitors' resolution

Great for side-by-side window usage. Takes a bit of effort to make sure your computer resolution and screen resolution are compatible but once you get the right combo, it's a good monitor.
The only complaint is that there are no speakers, which I should have investigated on my own, but regardless, when you plug in the monitor your computer will send audio to the monitor so you have to find the audio settings and disable this so that you can still hear the audio from your computer. Not a big deal except every time I unplug the monitor (I do this frequently b/c I work from a laptop) then I need to change the settings again when I plug it back in. I usually realize that I haven't adjusted these settings when I sign in to a webex and everybody is talking to me for a solid minute or two while I search for the audio settings and reset the default audio output. Really, this is more of a computer problem than a monitor problem, but I'm surprised that there isn't at least a cheapo set of speakers built in to the monitor for this reason alone.

The only reason I gave this monitor 4 stars was because this monitor did not have any speakers. Other than that, this monitor is outstanding in terms of the large viewing area, clarity, and coloring. Good for everyday use and gaming!

I had two screens including my laptop taking up the valuable desktop space. This screen allowed the laptop to be moved out of the way and the viewing area to be contiguous. Comparing excel windows side by side is much easier than looking across two physical screens. Brightness and clarity are great. The downside is HDMI is the only input option.

This is an excellent LG 29" WIDE monitor that I've had my eye on for a while. I love the width for my spreadsheets. It provides plenty of room so I can finally see everything I need to see, not having to constantly move the data from left to right all the time. I'm just wondering why I didn't pick one up sooner. The sales guy at the RT 51 Southland Best By was very knowledgeable and frendly. Actually that's my favorite Best Buy store because everyone there is knowledgeable & frendly and is willing to listen to my questions and quickly provide me with what I need.

If you're interested in good resolution and lots of customizable real estate at a good price, this monitor is for you. It is not the highest resolution or refresh rate available, but it serves my purposes (multi-display configuration) well. I have it set up with an old 1080p HP LED, and I can multi-task like crazy. Games and movies look quite crisp on it, though some games will feel a little stretched, if you don't adjust for the max supported resolution; however, the split screen software offers a lot of flexibility for windowed applications.
