I got this sound bar for my LG OLED TV. The sounds is fantastic. I use it for watching content from my Apple TV 4K and a PS4 Pro. I've purchased sound bars from Sony and Samsung. The Sony one is definitely the best one I have purchased. The Samsung one is second and this LG one is a close third. This isn't the best sound bar system I have owned but the sound is still pretty good.

This sound bar is easy to setup and well designed. It sounds much better than the TV speakers. My only issue is that it isn’t loud enough at max volume. Pros - Easy setup: wireless sub and auto on off mean that you plug in the sub and the sound bar, connect the TV, and it is ready to use. - It sounds way better than my old TV speakers. The bass added by the sub is great for movies. - Bluetooth connection to my phone sounds great and is a convenient way to listen to music. - Includes hardware for wall mounting and a template. It also includes a pair of higher legs for the sound bar, which I used to push it a little closer to my TV. - I was able to set it up with no issue to work with my cable box remote. - It automatically senses when the TV is on or off and comes on or shuts off as needed. It even works with my old TV which does not support HDMI ARC and only has an optical out. - Both the sub and the sound bar are small enough to blend in. This is great compared to the huge home theater speakers and equipment I had years ago. Things to Consider - This model is affordable, but it may not have enough power to fill some larger rooms. - It doesn’t have that many ports so you will probably want to hook everything to the TV and just hook it to the output of the TV. - As I mentioned above, you can listen comfortably at max volume – which means to me that it could be louder. This is most noticeable using the optical out on the TV, but I can also turn it up all the way on Bluetooth. It might be the room size as I mentioned above. - The sound bar is compact, but fairly wide. It probably looks best under a TV that is 50-55”. My TV is a 47” and it goes from one end of the TV stand to the other. This a great sound bar for someone who wants better sound with minimal effort, that doesn't take up much space. I use the Bluetooth more often than I thought to listen to music. It is probably best suited for small to medium size rooms.

Not even 3 months of use and The subwoofer makes this loud buzzing almost rattling sound at any volume. Its so irritating i had to unplug the woofer. It worked great initially. Called LG and they could care less. Wouldn't buy again and will never buy an LG product.

I don't consider myself a sound guru or buff. I can't really get into every specific details of how something should sound or if something is better than something else when it pertains to soundbars. I picked this soundbar due to LG products always meeting or exceeding my expectations. Boy.. do I feel like I've been misusing my TV for years as well as my overall entertainment experience until now.. this soundbar sounds absolutely incredible. I feel like I'm in a high quality movie theater. The first thing I did after set up to test was I turned on Avengers: Infinity War. I went to the battle in Wakanda specifically and the part where Thor makes his entrance.. oh..my... The sound was just unreal blasting through my living room and I only had it at a level 25..but you can feel the full sound experience. The surround sound feel, the subwoofer in the other corner of the room sending a little vibration throughout my floor. I can't wait to have a night with no small children so I can truly blast this sound bar at full level. The soundbar was ridiculously easy to set up.. almost too easy.. it's literally a plug and play experience..subwoofer was already connected to the soundbar, no pairing was needed, at least for me. The bass blast is my favorite sound profile setting out of the ones they offer . Comes with an optical in cable, which is what I'm using to connect. The paperwork said it was the preferred method of connection which is fine by me since I didn't have an extra HDMI cable laying around. Connection is purely simple. You can also use Bluetooth. A lot of options a lot of flexibility. Can connect your mobile device or any Bluetooth capable device for that matter to it. Soundbar also comes with mounting clips if you were to mount it on your wall with your TV. My only complaint, and it's nothing of LGs fault and more so my TV stand and layout.. the soundbar is blocking my TV IR sensor for my remotes as well as my direct TV box . I have to finagle my set up a little bit to find a better way to utilize my space but right now this soundbar is way too good for me to worry about that too much.

First I have 4 Surround System setups in my house; 2 with sound bars, 2 full Dolby 5.1 & 5.2 setups (all much more costly than the LG SL6Y setup). I using this LG SL6Y with 55" Sony (9 series) in my secondary viewing area, I had been using a ZVOX, but for movies it's output was insufficient, for news and sports it was fine, just not "good enough" for 4K surround movies. I was torn between the cost of this unit and spending 3 times as much for a full Dolby Atmos setup. My wife "helped" me make the decision (for now) not wanting any more exposed speakers on the rear wall. So the LG seemed like a good compromise,it offered both HDMI (ARC) and Optical hookups. I tried both and really could not tell the difference, the television offers fixed and variable outputs to both the optical and the HDMI output, so I can still control the volume from my primary remote (something I was not sure I would get). The instructions I received with the unit, were incomplete, the latest user and owner manuals were available online. Getting the sub to pair with the sound bar was just a matter of powering on the Sub then the soundbar, and a green light (on the back of the sub) blinked a couple of times and then stayed on steady, indicating it was connected. When the sound bar is powered on, on the front, there is 5 character LED display, barely mentioned in the manual. Here you can see the connection information as well as the operating (surround) mode. I first watched/listened the end of a baseball game, I prefered the Standard mode over the Bass Blast and the DTS Virtual. The LG's subwoofer was reasonable improvement over the ZVOX I had been using, and the dialog was much better than the TV's speakers (not surprising no flat panels are very good). I then watched 2 DTS Movies, and the DTS Virtual Surround really works; not as well as my $10K Home theater set-up but for a smaller listen area it is quite suitable, I was pleasantly surprised. The LG SL6Y could more than fill the 16x24 room with full dynamic sound. The bass is not chest thumping still noticeable. It nicely paired with the volume of the sound bar. I tried placing the subwoofer in the front of the room (close to sound bar), on the right and left side of the room and in a corner. In the corner the bass was more pronounced, "thumpier", I prefered this placement, I'd expected to prefer it in front of me, but that not what I ended up liking the most. Having it wireless and it automatically re-pairing with the sound bar made experimenting with it so easy (convenient). I tried it further away, but that failed the most, it needs to be close to the listening area, but not necessarily pointed at the listeners. I'm so happy with this setup, I'll probably break down and get a set of the SPL8-S speakers, and try hiding them out of sight (see if the wife notices). For the money this is a nice setup, especially if your budget or space constrained. It's a big improvement over all the 2.1 SB's I considered, and it can be expanded, whether that's worth it is the subject of a later review. The SL6Y is worth it im my opinion.

several different setting to create a richer sound instead of using your tv speakers, even though we have a new LG4k, the upgrade soundbar does make our large open concept living room feel more theater like vs. using the built in speakers. didn't realize a difference these could make until you turn them on/off.. its a difference. did a plug and play using (amazon/pacroban)8k 2.1 hdmi/arc so I could run all sound coming from tv out of the soundbar (tv, dish, xbox)... didn't have to hunt and find any settings since my tv noticed, accepted the new device and the subwoofer bluetoothed right-up. we bought this as open box discount. after the first week of movies, i noticed it would get airy-sounding for a few moments, then realized the 'bluetooth' subwoofer was disconnecting, reconnecting itself seconds later- i thought it was an overlooked movie glitch, but after researching i discovered others had this issue. the work around recommended not to have 'other interference' or to set it more behind the tv... that didn't work for us, since i wall mounted under tv and have our router, dish, gaming stuff all close by and quickly realized there was a lot of bluetooth stuff around- think anything wireless... controllers, routers... all possible interference. i tried moving it on the other side & backside of the living room- still had issue, so i just put it back to the original location w/ all the 'stuff' around, pushed the tiny reset button and i've only noticed it happening a few time since (will continue to troubleshoot if problem increases again) - most noticed at night, streaming through disney+, no issues going through dish. maybe there's a glitch? reached out the recommend way via FB (phone support was a joke) to LG and got a tech response right away, so hopefully any lingering issues will be handled quickly- even in this quarantined state. overall, using it the last several weeks, we are glad we got this and have already recommended it... sale price of course. love music, but haven't tried to bluetooth as a house speaker- but i would be very surprised if it did not sound great- since it is had a full, deep sound on movies. i'm not a tv/sound techie type, usually have to plug/unplug to see if i've got it correct (think awful red, white, yellow old-style plugs)... this was so easy. get a good 4k/highspeed hdmi and use your hdmi/arc and you will be ready to go in no time. handy little videos on LG, but directions are still lacking. we haven't done it yet, but you can also add 2 more speakers behind/beside for the full-sourround-your-head experience- this just digitally compensates to mimic, but even as is- the intensity is there.

Great value when I bought mine. On sale for $100 off and I'm barely paying more than the 2.1 (which is also exceptional). Plenty of bass from the wireless sub , don't let the small size fool you, and great range for a variety of setup locations. No connection problems of any kind, just plug it in and it's connected! This bar itself is pretty long tho so make sure you're measured right. But complete setup maybe took 10 minutes and most of that was wrestling it from the really dense foam packing. Bluetooth connectivity is exceptional, no distortion. Plug and play for your own sound dungeon

We purchased the LG soundbar and added rear surround speakers to add home theater to our living room. Wow, what a difference! The sound is super clear, loud but defined, and the balance is great. Watched Indiana Jones the first night, and played Imagine Dragons to test for music, everything sounds perfect, what a treat! Connecting via bluetooth to my phone was automatic. The various sound options are great to adjust depending on what you are watching or listening to. The dedicated center speaker means no more frustration when a movie goes from dialogue to action, the soundbar keeps everything in balance. One of my favorite features is the ease of setup. You just connect to your TV and turn on, and the soundbar automatically connects to the wireless subwoofer and remote speakers. We went from box to watching a movie in 5 minutes. Very pleased with our purchase!

The sound quality is now very good with this sound bar. Not outrageously priced as the LG we bought, but this made a significant difference to the TV sound; very much like surround sound. We did noticed a strange occurence when our neighbors (tow house next door) tried to play music off her phone, it was received thru our soundbar which apparently was left on when we last used it. She was able to turn the sound up and we were floored when we learned that the loud music came from our sound bar. She apparently also has an LG soundbar.

I bought a new TV for my basement. The sound was horrible and I tried to rig a stereo up to it to make is sound better. I learned that the new TVs are so thin that there’s no room for speakers so TV sound quality has actually declined over the years. I decided to buy a sound bar, I did some research and picked this one. Luckily my local Best Buy had an open box option. It was every bit worth it. The sound is so incredible, like a movie theater. Easy to install, Easy to set up and a big improvement for this entertainment room. I chose the LG brand because I like LG. I chose this particular model because it had three speakers, on the sound bar. Right a left and a center. The subwoofer is wireless and was easy to connect to the sound bar.

This is a really good sounding soundbar/subwoofer. I like that the bar is very thin which is nice and allows placement in areas where space is limited. The instructions and mounting diagrams are easy to understand and apply, I would recommend this unit.

I research this product for quite some time prior to purchase. The other Best Buy Customer Reviews were very enlightening. I bought this LG Soundbar to pair with a recently purchased LG TV. Like others, I did not want to run rear speakers and wanted an all encompassing unit (Aside from the Subwoofer of course). First and foremost, the difference between the 2.1 and the 3.1 Soundbar is dramatic, the Center Channel is a must have for clear dialogue. Granted, there is a big difference in the price, but hold out and wait for a sale (Got the 3.1 Soundbar during the Black Friday Event for half price $199.99). Hooking up the Soundbar and pairing the Subwoofer took about a minute and a half, it took longer to get the equipment out of the shipping container. I used both the TOSLink and HDMI ARC connections (Automatic default is HDMI ARC anyway and is recommended to control all functions). Sound Quality is pretty solid and very clear (Once again, the Center Channel is a must...!!!) If you are expecting the Subwoofer to shake the foundation, you better add another $1,000 dollars to the purchase price because you aren't getting it here (Although it is competent and up to the task) The 420 Watts gets the job done, and even at maximum volume, there is no sign of distortion (Which is Good). This unit is ideal for small to medium size rooms. Of the different sound modes, I prefer "Standard" and "DTS Virtual: X". I lean more to DTS Virtual: X for music and movies. This is a nice "plug and play" system and I would definitely recommend this product (Just wait for it to go on sale because the regular price is too much). Super easy to use...!!!

This LG soundbar replaced a Bose soundbar that recently died. I used HDMI ARC to connect this LG soundbar to an LG TV, a Tivo Bolt, and a Samsung Blu-ray player. Everything worked right out of the box and the wireless subwoofer delivers booming bass. I also tried connecting the soundbar via an optical cable (in lieu of HDMI) and that worked as well. In the end, I decided to stick with HDMI. I really like the fact that the LG soundbar includes a small display that shows the current connection mode when the unit is turned on. I'm impressed -- there was no struggle whatsoever to add this soundbar to an existing system. Kudos to LG.
