I splurged during President's Day sale and got two of these beauties. I do a lot of software development and some gaming. I couldn't be more pleased with their performance. Being able to power my Mac from one monitor and daisy chain to a second with a Thunderbolt cables is awesome.

    Light bleeding

I bought this monitor thinking it was way better than the 27" LG monitor I own. Unfortunately, it has a lot of colored bleeding in dark scenes, especially at the edges, to the point it is disturbing when watching a banded movie in the dark. It outputs a great image in an office environment with light around. It has a great uniformity when the full screen displays white but terrible uniformity when the full screen displays black. The weird thing is that it is supposed to have local diming, yet when engaged it does not do anything. I attached an image in the dark with the monitor displaying a full black screen. I'll try to replace it and see if maybe I just got a lemon. So far, I am amazed of its good rating. For the price, having so much bleeding in dark scenes is unacceptable. For that kind of money, you can purchase an LED UHD TV with far better uniformity and less bleeding in dark scenes.

I've used the LG monitor for only a few weeks, but so far it has been great. I'm driving in from my MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Max laptop via Thunderbolt port. It was easy set up, beautiful color. All in all, a great buy at a great price.

This is the best monitor I’ve ever own. I haven’t seen anything on the market for this price with this quality. The monitor is super bright. I have nothing negative to say about this monitor.

Best monitor yet. I tested multiple monitors across three brands and LG has the best picture, clarity, and color accuracy. While it’s one of the more expensive monitors, it’s obvious in a premium class. Also, I’m use a MacBook Pro 2020 via thunderbolt and the experience is seamless! Colors are vibrant and easily connected to my notebook via Thunderbolt or HDMI for eGPU (Razer Core X). Cables are all included (and recommended you use them). I use it for gaming and work and it is great for both. Minor quibble is that the back and the cables are all white. It would look better in black plugging into black/silver notebook or computers. Monitor adjusts up and down easily and holds the position well.

This display is amazing!! I connected it to a 2019 MacBook Pro 16” and daisy chained my Dell UP2415Q as a second display. It charges at 60W, which is good enough for most of my workflows, and is really bright in a room full of windows. I really like having the display further away from me at Mac retina resolution (like 1920X1080). It’s very relaxed, super crisp for photos and text, and still has enough screen real estate! But there at lots of options to get more pixels in use with the “more space” settings as well if you need it. Works very well with an older HP laptop on W10 with display port. Plug and play on both laptops.

I bought this as one of my two desktop monitors. The other is a 43” Asus. The LG is brighter with better colors, but I did get the Asus to almost replicate it, but if LG had a 43 inch monitor at the time, I would have purchased that instead after seeing these two side by side. The off switch is a little funky to switch off, but it works on the first try most of the time.

I extensively researched monitors for about a month. I was at my wit's end until I came across this model by chance. I have had it for six months and still am so happy. I almost went with a 27" screen, man am I glad I went 32"! It is sleek, chic, and classy. As a graphic designer and web developer, it has improved my workflow significantly. I have my monitor connected to my MacBook Pro. On a personal level, I use it to game - mostly with the Sims and Minecraft. The video quality is great for those things. I use this monitor every day. I have external speakers I use which sometimes aren't recognized by the system when I wake it up from being asleep. Solutions have been simple - Ex: unplugging cord, re-inputting. Openning the macbook pro from clamshell mode and closing, adjusitng the speaker input from the speaker menu bar. Annoying but overall simple. The control joystick is at the bottom of the monitor when in landscape mode. It is perfectly placed & easy to use. I haven't used the portrait position yet but I love that it swivels. The screen itself is easy to adjust based on how you are sitting or standing. It doesn't have a webcam which could have been cool but so far when I video chat I simply open my MacBook Pro and use that while using the LG monitor for regular computer functions simultaneously.

Great monitor for work. The resolution, color, and screen size are a dramatic improvement to my previous setup. I use this with 2 laptops and an external webcam. With a thunderbolt connection directly to the laptop or to a docking station, this monitor works as an extended hub. The stand is beautiful and has a good range of height adjustment. With tilt and a monitor riser, I can stand at my desk, but this probably wouldn’t work for someone taller. I wish that I had made this purchase sooner for better work-from-home productivity. I happened to purchase while on sale. Although I have streamed a movie on this, my primary use is work.

The color, the 4K-video resolution, and even the built-in speaker sound are all phenomenal. Never experienced eye sore from hours of continuous glaring at the screen. No display lag from my normal use - never play fast moving game so I'll leave the latency part for others to comment. I connect the monitor to a desktop via display port so never test the thunderbolt feature on a laptop. So far this monitor looks near perfect for my needs except for the high price.

Excellent Monitor that Doubles as a TB3 Hub

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The color quality, resolution, and ease of you on this LG 4K is exceptional. I specifically wanted something with the color range for photo and video editing, but wanted a TB3 interface so I can plug and play my Macbook Pro with a single cord to do it all. The monitor acts as a Thunderbolt 3 hub, with a web-cam and Logitech unifying receiver using the two USB ports on the back, Bose speakers using the headphone jack, and a LaCie 2Big dock daisy chained off the low voltage TB3 port, giving me another USB port and a CF and SD card reader, as well as another TB3 connection (the dock has two TB3 for daisy chaining). All of this connects via one simple USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 connection. The only complaint I have is the lack of auto-input detection. I use the HDMI input sometimes for my work laptop, and it would be nice to have it auto-switch to HDMI when the Macbook isn't connected. But overall, not a deal breaker. Still very happy with the monitor.

    Good but not great

I purchased this monitor to pair with a 16" Macbook Pro with a 2.4GHz 8‑core Intel Core i9, 16MB shared L3 cache, 32GB of onboard memory, AMD Radeon Pro 5600M with 8GB of HBM2 memory and 1TB SSD. The intent was to replace an aging 27" iMac outfitted with an auxiliary 27" HD monitor. The goal was have enough screen real estate to accommodate 3 apps opened simultaneously (Typically, MS Word, Excel and either PowerPoint or Outlook) without the need to resize each one when the second and/or third app was launched. Aesthetically, the design is reasonably attractive and pairs well with the MacBook Pro 16”. With its thin 3/8” bezels the monitor measures 28.375" wide, 16.5" high and 19.125 high when on the stand set at its lowest point. The depth of the unit as measured from the back of the stand to the front of the display is about 9”. There is little to do in assembling the unit and assembly is intuitive and is accomplished in a few minutes without tools. The key word being "intuitive", as the documentation is very sparse. Surprising, the unit comes with a CD which I presume contains the assempley instructions. At $1500 with tax and fees, one would expect the entire stand to be fabricated from metal. However, while the base of the stand is metal, the monitor support tower is plastic which, as you might expect, has significantly less structural integrity than metal. Surprisingly, the plastic tower provides reasonable stability for the large and somewhat heavy 13.7 pound unit. However, if plan to raise the monitor to its maximum height, the monitor moderately sways if knocked or it the surface on which it sits is bumped. Of course, none of this is an issue if you plan to mount the monitor on the wall. When on the stand, the display can be tilted. The picture quality is very good but at 3840 x 2160 doesn’t appear as sharp as the Retina display on the iMac. If you’re a gamer, this monitor might not be a great fit with only a 60Hz refresh rate and a 5 millisecond response time. The reason for buying the monitor was to have a large continuous space. This device gets you partially there but if you have sufficient space, you might consider LG’s 38” curved monitor which is sufficiently large to permit multiple apps to open simultaneously without having to constantly resize them. That device is more responsive at 1 millisecond and a refresh rate of 144Hz. Of course it comes in at $1600, a significant increase in price over the 31.5”. However, if you contemplated 2 27” Thuderbolt high res monitors, the 38” is less money. If the purchase doesn’t need to be made immediately, you might consider waiting to see what manufacturer’s launch at the 2021 CES next month.

The colors are amazing and exquisitely accurate, which is a necessity for me cause I use it for photo/video work! It’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. So stoked on this monitor!

Perfect monitor for my needs, as I have both a Mac and PC at my desk. I can switch between the two with the push of a button. Also, the picture is flawless and there were no dead pixels. I ended up buying 3 more for the office.

Above average monitor, worth its price? No. Not even close in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, great quality screen, but not OLED Price good. LG needs to release the same version in OLED. Doesn't play well with Dell USB-C docks either.

I did a lot of research comparing similar models before pulling the trigger on this purchase. I really love this monitor! It works great with both my MacBook Pro and my Dell PC laptops. I was looking for something that would provide a high-quality picture and color accuracy for graphic design work, and wide enough where I can have two documents open side by side. I love that you can adjust the height of the stand and that I can charge my Mac while I'm plugged into the monitor. The speaker quality is pretty decent too. The only thing I wish I could find is an alternate stand that sits on the floor (if someone knows of one, please point me in the right direction!)
