Is it wrong to LOVE your washer?

My old washer was bad. I knew it was bad since the day I got it used from a friend, but I kept it and endured the tangled, knotted clothes, the endless trips to the basement to re-balance the load so it wouldn't walk all over the place, the LONG drying times because it didn't do a good job of spinning. and the so so job of cleaning ( I didn't really realize the last one until I got the new washer and the clothes were obviously cleaner).
I had no idea that a new washing machine, this front-loading LG, would change my life. Sounds like an overstatement? Not at all.
The first thing I noticed, it was kinda fun to use. The lights, the little chimes, the song at the end are a nice touch. This isn't the top of the line, but it has plenty of presets and features to love. There are a few ways to easily modify the presets, which I like. I almost always use cold water wash, except for whites and towels while the default on this machine for most of the cycles is warm. EASY to change with the push of a button.
I love how the machine automatically decides how much water to use (or not use, as it's very frugal, another huge plus). It sort of shakes the load to sense the weight and bulk before filling. Note, the water isn't always visible so don't be too quick to use the "add water" button. The water is mostly outside the drum and circulates through the clothes as it washes, more than the clothes being fully immersed in dirty water like I'm used to. I was skeptical at first - so little water visible, but the clothes came out cleaner than they had been in years. The exception to the not so visible water rule is in the delicate cycle. The bottom fills and the clothes are sort of gently sloshed back and forth - brilliant! Skepticism is gone! Just imagine all the water we are saving, and money.
It doesn't take a lot of detergent. I actually use even less than it calls for and it works just fine. It has dispensers for liquid bleach and liquid fabric softener as well. These are added at the proper time during the cycle. You want to use products made for front loaders.
One note here, the dispensers will have some water in them after the cycle. This is normal. I usually dump it out after I'm done for the day, but I don't think that's absolutely necessary. If you leave the detergent drawer ajar a bit it will dry out. I also wipe down the door and interior of the washer after the day's loads, just to keep it fresher. The stainless steel drum always looks nice.
This machine uses several different motions to wash and rinse depending on the load. It's pretty fun to watch it change direction and motion. I know it sounds a little crazy, but when you had such a disaster of a washer before, it's the little things that I appreciate and that make this one such a huge improvement.
Another feature I like is that the machine will tumble the clothes every so often after the load is done, IF you remember to push the button to tell it to do that. It really does help keep them fresher and less wrinkled when I can't get back to them right away. I also love that it has a timer that you can set so that the washer will start at a later time, like, after your shower, for instance. This one does have the drum clean cycle which I like and it has many ways to adjust each load by changing the spin speed, wash temp, and dirt level. You can add an pre soak and an extra rinse and spin if you need it. It's easy to go all cold wash if you like. (all rinse cycles are cold)
This machine is pretty quiet. It's downstairs and I can tell when it's spinning if I listen, but it's much quieter than my old one. In fact, I wish the end of cycle song was a little louder. My old ears miss it sometimes even though the volume is turned up all the way.
Typical size loads for me are 3 pairs of men's jeans, a couple sweatshirts, or 3 regular shirts, and several pairs of underwear and socks. It will also handle two king-sized sheets along with several pillowcases or a couple towels. It will also do a week's worth of towels and wash cloths for a family of three in one load. I've washed three small rugs together with no problems. This would have caused all manner of headaches and frenzied trips to the basement with my old machine.
Life changing: This machine does a great job of cleaning, but it is still gentle on the clothes. I think our things will last longer with this new LG machine. I no longer have to sprint down the stairs (I'm 63 so sprinting isn't so fun anymore) to keep the washer from pulling the hoses loose as it walks across the floor. An I don't have to move that heavy machine back to its spot. I no longer have to unknot and detangle towels, sheets and jeans. My delicates are treated delicately. The clothes come out so much dryer than with my old machine that the dryer doesn't have to work near as long and use as much energy to dry them. That means less time and money (and aggravation) spent doing laundry and more time and money for other things. YAY!
There are some features which I can't access such as the phone sync because I have an older phone, but I look forward to that in the future.
I was unsure if the low end model would meet all of my needs, but it does and passed all my tests with flying colors. The next model up has steam and a few other additional features, but I didn't feel they were necessary for us.
The manual tells you to drain and clean the lint filter periodically. I have done that twice so far, but it has had only a tiny bit of lint. You'll need a nice-sized (at least a quart), low pan to drain it. This is an easy task to do.
The advertisement says you need a hose kit for this model, but it actually came with hoses. If you need longer ones, you will need to buy them separately though, as these are pretty short. Tip: ask the delivery guys to leave the packing bolts with you in case you have to move the washer to a different home. The bolts can be re-inserted and will help keep the washer from getting damaged during the move.
I can see why people spend the extra for a pedestal as it is a little low, but luckily my back is still in good shape. I personally think the pedestals for a bit overpriced, but if you have back trouble it may be worth it.
This LG washer was an excellent choice and after a month of use the whole family is very happy with the purchase. Good pricing too from Best Buy plus free, on time, delivery and set up. You won't be sorry.

I spent a lot of time researching which washer and dryer to purchase. I was all set to purchase a new whirlpool duet set when I realized that since maytag bought out whirlpool they redesigned the duet and you can no longer access the drain from the front panel. That was a huge reg flag for me as I like knowing if the drain has stuff in it I can easily remove it myself. So then it was down to the samsung or the LG. A salesperson at one of the home improvement stores sold me that although the samsung was a good product, when her customers needed parts it was sometimes very difficult to find/get them in a timely manner. So I decided on this LG and couldn't be happier. It does a great job with washing clothes and has plenty of settings and is easy to use. As a side note, do not even hesitate to order through bestbuy.com. Setting up a delivery time was easy, the deliveryman gave me a call on my cell when he was 15 min from my house so I quickly left work and met them at my house (no having to take a whole day off work to sit at home and wait). I did think I would be right back to work but the deliverymen were amazing. They took away my old set, installed the new ones, did a quick test to be sure everything was working, then showed me how to use everything and gave me some pointers. (pointers: the machine really doesn't like super small loads so put some extra laundry with it; after your last load, keep a towel near your washing machine and just give a quick wipe of the inside door and bottom rubber - takes 10 seconds but will keeps washing machine smelling good). Which reminds me, this washer also has a magnet so you can leave the door closed but not shut all the way so air can circulate. So I really liked Best Buy's delivery as much as the product. I've been using this washing machine for about a month now and would buy it again without a second thought,

Quiet machine and easy to use. The washing machine is big so you can do a lot of laundry at once, only problem I have is that the more you put in the longer it takes to wash. Still overall a good buy for the price and wash comes out clean.

We have only had this washer for about a month. This is our second LG washer in 7 years. So far it has been great. It is very quiet and sings a little song when it is finished with the wash cycle. Large opening for loading clothes is nice and it has an automatic cycle that determines the length of the cycle by the weight of the clothes. It cleans the clothes very good.

This LG washer is very quiet and energy efficient (doesn't use lots of water). This washer is much quieter than the Whirlpool front load washer it replaced. This LG washer does a good job cleaning clothes. The primary reason for buying this washer was LG washer reputation for reliability. The only improvement they can make is to increase the volume of the tone that sounds when the wash cycle is complete. Otherwise, I am very happy with this purchase.

This washing machine is extremely user friendly, very simple, and does a great job on our clothes. When it begins, it weighs the laundry and adds water in bursts that can be loud and unexpected! Once the water is added, and the cycle begins, the washer becomes considerably quieter. Have had this for a month or two now, and have been very pleased by this product! Signal noise could be a bit louder though.

This machine is the best washer I've ever used. At 66 years of age, I've used a lot of various machines. It really skimps on water which is great and that also means it uses very little hot water for the warm and hot cycles. The super speed spin cycle dries the clothes so much that it takes 1/2 as long in the dryer. The machine is so quiet that I have to set a kitchen timer so I don't forget to remove the clothes when finished. The NFC functions allow the washer to communicate details about errors and can specify needed repairs if needed. I can also use my cell phone to download specialized wash cycles for specific types of laundry and soiling. The price was really the best for the features and it's just entertaining to watch at times.

This washer is perfect for a small family. (4 people) It has a nice slender design compared to the other larger brand front loaders. It's fairly quiet and my clothes come out extremely clean. The music it plays when finished is slightly annoying but that can be adjusted and turned off.

Washing machine is very quiet, and can be stuffed full. One thing I will watch is the front seal, as this is my first front load machine, and there has been small puddles on the floor in front of the door.

Love the capacity, how quiet it runs, how easy it is to operate. Needs the stand, however, as it is difficult to reach the back unless I get down on the floor. One thing I haven't yet figured out is why it makes my water pipes vibrate all over the house when it's in the start-up mode.

When out old non HE top-loading washing machine died I started investigating HE front-loaders. This was rated as one of the most energy efficient and was reasonably priced. For such a reasonable price I am blown away by this machine. It uses a fraction of the water the old machine used, which for those of us using a well, that means much lower electric bills, in addition to the lower direct electrical usage ($11 a year average). With the high speed spin it also means a lot less energy used by our matching dryer as the clothes are nearly dry when the washer is done with them.
I think the thing I'm most impressed with is how quiet this machine is. Our laundry room is adjacent to our family room where we watch TV. I no longer yell at the kids when they leave the laundry room door is open because I can barely hear the machines running. The loudest thing about this washer is when it is adding water. I am very happy with these machines and would definitely recommend them.

Bought on open box return. This machine is efficient, quiet, and has lots of clear options. However, when we first installed it, the old copper pipes in the basement banged so hard it sounded like an earthquake! A simple online search revealed that water hammer is a frequent problem with LG machines because the valve closes so quickly. We were able to easily purchase and install two mini water hammer arresters for under $30, but why doesn't LG do something to address this? If I'd paid full price, I might have returned it, too! As it is, I'm just glad everything worked out and we got a good machine at a discount price.

I needed to replace my 30 year-old combination washer/dryer and decided to go for a stackable set. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I like the variable options and especially appreciate the gentle cycle. I have noticed a huge improvement in how my clothes withstand a wash and think the difference is due to the absence of the agitator. I really don't have to hand wash anymore which is a huge time saver. The washer is a little bit loud when going through the load sensing mode, but then is super quiet for the rest of the wash. I would highly recommend this as an option.

I purchased this washer when my LG front loader died. I received fast delivery, quick installation, and good instructions from the delivery guys. The clothes come out noticeably cleaner than my old washer. The only problem that I've noticed is that because the capacity is so large it can wash three times as many clothes as my dryer can handle at a time. Oh well, I guess it'll be time to upgrade the dryer to a Samsung very soon!

I researched washers and dryers quite extensively before purchasing this one. I even subscribed to an independent review company, which rated this washer highly and noted its terrific value for the price. Best Buy had it on sale for less than anywhere else, so I purchased it from them. After several weeks, I can say I'm quite happy with it. It's quiet, efficient, and easy on clothes. The only downside is having to wipe down the inside and leave the door open for hours after using it because front load washers are notorious for developing a mildew smell without proper maintenance. Added bonus for this washer is the rebates you can get from your water and gas companies because it's so efficient and therefore qualifies on their rebate list.
