    LG WT4970CW washing machine

We purchased this washer from our NEX store at the Naval Base here and it was delivered today at 9:30am. On the very first load on the wash cycle we get a "OE" error code. Washer won't drain. Checked for blockage and couldn't find any. The tub was completely full of water even though the load only fill 1/4 of the basket. Took the drain hose out of the drain pipe and the water drains fine from gravity. So I'm assuming that the drain pump is defective. Not something you want to experience with a brand new machine on it's very first load. Called their service number and they won't be able to get someone out here for 2 days. The delivery guy said ours was the first delivery today and he has 10 more of the same model washers to deliver today. I guess the LG repairman is going to be very busy for awhile. Our old washer was a Maytag Neptune TL that lasted 10 years before the transmission went out. We previously had a Whirlpool that lasted 36 years without a single repair before the transmission locked up. The repairman who looked at it recommend a Whirlpool, GE, ELECTROLUX, etc. He said stay away from LG and SAMSUNG washer. We should have listened to him. So based on our experience with this LG washing machine,I would not recommend this washer. I thought we would have at least 5 years before this LG would need any kind of repair work done to it and not the very first day on the very first load. Seems like as the technology get more advance, the less reliable things become. You would think that since this model has been out for over a year that all the problems would be taken care of. I would not recommend this washer or the LG brand to anyone.

    HORRIBLE DO NOT BUY!!!!

This has been the WORST washing machine we have ever owned. It constantly runs unbalanced even AFTER a repair man replaced a "faulty" motherboard. It is sitting level and we do put in similar items. Forget about trying to wash a blanket, you end up using a ton of water in this "high efficiency" machine because it constantly refills the drum to "rebalance" the load. A 50 minute load takes 90 minutes because of this. If you have any waterproof items (winter coats, mattress protector, etc) the manual says that those items are not supposed to be washed in this machine. If we knew this when we purchased it, we would have never have bought it. Regretfully, we didn't see that fine print until after Best Buy's 90 return policy was over. I should have trusted my gut when the the dealer said his girlfriend was having the unbalancing issues but he did not. We are now on our second service call in just over a year. This one is because the drum is now banging against the side. Most likely because of how it runs unbalanced. We are begging for our money back and cannot believe this machine is sold. Horrible, terrible, worthless are a few of the words I can think of for this machine.

    So far so good.

I have only done 3 loads so far, one regular clothes and two comforters and I'm very pleased with the results. Came out nice and clean and fresh smelling. Only downside to these new HighEfficiency washers is that they take almost 50% longer to do a wash, approx. an hour, vs. regular machines for about 35 minutes. I didn't want a machine with many features I'd never use so this one fit the bill perfectly. Can do any wash I want with minimal settings.

    Worst Washer Ever!!!

This washer has never cleaned the clothes well or in some cases at all! They've come out dirtier than when they went in. There is water in the tub during soak cycle and option for extra water produces no difference than a regular wash. Takes for ever to do a load that comes out poorly. Clothes are barely agitated during wash cycle. I've stood over this machine for an hour and half and watched it perform (using that term loosely). "High Efficiency" is not what you get with this machine. We went back to a top loader after years of battling odor and mold growing under seals in a front loader. I'd rather trade this back for an old fashioned top loader with a traditional agitator and the ability to control water levels and soak times. I wouldn't recommend this machine to anyone!

Great Machine to start BUT then the problems begin

I've owned this machine for 1 year all of a sudden it's having problems where the loads are UnEven. I'm 44 years old & have been doing laundry since I was 10, I know how to balance a machine. 1 small load can take you HOURS to do. When it's out of balance the machine automatically tries to even it out by adding more water to help re-distribute the weight. By doing that your using a ton more water. I am wasting a lot of time & money trying to get 1 load of wash done. Avoid this machine like the plague.

LG He does not wash water resistant or waterproof

If you are a parent or have a mattress cover that is waterproof you cannot wash them in any LG He washer. We found out when it was delivered today and it is going back. No bathroom rugs, curtains, coats, skiing equipment, sleeping bags or anything else. We bought a non He product since we have small kids and a ton of outdoor gear. We are really disappointed. It is like buying a TV that does not have channels 1-50. Weird and very disappointing.

    Nothing but problems

We bought this washer one year ago, and have had on-going problems. Of the first 5 loads, 4 came became repeatedly unbalanced. Yes, they were all of similar type of clothing, e.g. sheets. This problem persists, despite TrueBalance being prominently displayed on the washer. I knew the wash times were long, but was not prepared for seemingly random resets of the time and point in the cycle. Example, noting that the washer was in the spin cycle, with 13 minutes remaining, I set a timer for 15 to go back and check the load. More time than I can count, I have found the washer in a totally different cycle, with many more minutes remaining than previously.Even when the washer does not regress to a different cycle, a spin time of 3 minutes remaining frequently becomes 15 minutes. This is getting very, very frustrating! This washer is sold as saving water, which it does, but sometimes at the expense of getting the clothes clean. Having to use the "more water" feature on a regular basis is not what I hoped for, when purchasing this washer. Would I buy this again? Not a chance!

This washer is MASSIVE!!! We love the capacity of this washer!! We bought this washer for our new home, we had a front loader and wanted to switch to a top loader. We couldn't be happier with this purchase. Lots of settings, quiet, and does a good job of washing our clothes along with big bulky bedding. AWESOME WASHER!!!

    WATER WASTER

Bought this washer and have never been more frustrated or annoyed. This washer will continue to refill and rerinse on large loads. Think a load is unbalanced, open it up and (it is in the rinse cycle) only to refill and rinse again. This last load went in at 10:am and it is now 2 pm. I was away from my home and came back to the machine STILL RERINSING! HATE IT!

Great washing machine! Large capacity! Can wash comforters in this machine, just make sure you have a large dryer. Cuts down the time on drying clothes.

Incredible washer. Uses a fraction of the water and power of my old 8 year old Kenmore unit. Kenmore struggled with some tougher stains, this LG just cleans everything. Lots of features and options.

I purchased this washer for our new home. It's great not having to deal with an agitator! The clothes come out clean and well wrung out. The washer always smells fresh and is easy to clean.

Bought the set 6 months ago. No issues. Can wash a king bedding set with duvet cover with no problem. Big difference from traditional washers. Speed wash is great also.

washer sounds as if out of balance very loud going thur spin cycle, Larg wash tub, why bother since does't clean very well whn you fill up to the capacity of tub, sudggest to fill halfway for best results for clean clothing , Had gotten toothpast on blouse diddn't even remove had to wash out by hand. Wash only 7 towels at a time if you want them to smell fresh. Will never buy another GE

This washer is ok, has a lot of options for washing, almost to many. The loads take twice as long as my regular washer did. I have had it for 4 months & for some reason a load of towels still have a sower smell when finished. I have tried washing on many different settings etc... no luck. Other than that it is a good washer.

    Do Not Buy this Product

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this washer a month ago. Its been nothing but a headache from the day we bought it. The washer continues to display a "UE" which means you have to stop and redistribute your clothes and re-start the spin cycle. This typically happens 5-6 times per wash. Very frustrating for the money paid. Numerous calls to service trying to have a technician come out and fix, which should not happen with a brand new machine.Do yourself a favor and not purchase an LG washing machine!

3 yr old machine needs $600 new board

This top load machine started having issues at 1 year after LG sent out a rep to do a recall software update. Has had intermittent problems since then. Now a tech has stated the problem is the board and motor sensor to the tune of $600! LG will not stand by their machines. First thing LG asked when I places a call to them is if I had an extended warranty. To which I replied that I was hoping their machines were built well and I would not need one! They had nothing to say to that. Do NOT buy this top load machine.

    So sorry I purchased this.

I purchased this washer 8 months ago. It takes too long for loads because it keeps displaying UE. When you redistribute the clothes and start it up it fills up with water again. It can do that 2 to 5 times. Not a water saver for that reason. We have had Geek squad out and they replaced parts 3 times and it is back to doing that. Reading other reviews I see that I must have a lemon. I will just call service back when I have the time to have them here to repair it.

Doesn't get dirt and grime out of work jeans

I bought this washer based on the consumer reviews. I have to wash my husband's work jeans twice to get them clean. Sometimes I have to hand scrub the dirt before it will come off in the second wash. In my old washer I liked to soak my whites overnight this washer had the longest soak cycle available. Sure miss my agitator washer.
