OLED for a computer monitor

I purchased the TV to replace a computer monitor that I use in an office that is used for gaming/work from home. I personally can't believe what I have been missing out on my entire life.
Everything about this monitor is amazing. Colors, contrast, refresh rate, response time. Only thing it is missing is a Display Port.
42" is personally perfect for my set up, I know there are 48" variants out there, but personally I think they are a bit too big. I came from a 34" ultrawide monitor, and this 42" OLED LG TV only took an additional 2-3" horizontally and filled up the space vertically.
I am currently using this TV with 2-27" monitors beside it, and I can't believe the contrast ration between them. Previously, I believed the Dell monitors that were on the side were high quality, but this TV puts it them to shame.
I personally also like the TV functionality because I can still have access to all basic Smart TV apps that I prefer to use than my PC for streaming content.
One thing to note, is that in order for you to take full advantage of the TV, you MUST get an HDMI 2.1 cable. I hoard my HDMI cables, and none of them gave me the full capability of this TV.

I recently purchased an OLED TV from Best Buy, and I must say it has exceeded all my expectations. The picture quality and overall performance of this TV are simply phenomenal, making it a worthy investment for any entertainment enthusiast.
First and foremost, the OLED technology truly brings the visuals to life. The contrast levels are outstanding, with deep blacks that create a stunning level of detail and depth in every scene. The colors are vibrant and accurate, and the TV's ability to display true blacks enhances the overall visual experience like no other. Whether I'm watching movies, playing video games, or streaming my favorite shows, the picture quality is consistently breathtaking.
The display itself is incredibly sharp and crisp, thanks to the high resolution and pixel density. Even when viewed up close, there's no loss of detail, and the images remain sharp and realistic. The wide viewing angles ensure that everyone in the room can enjoy the same stunning visuals, without any noticeable color distortion or degradation.
The TV's design is sleek and modern, blending seamlessly with my living room decor. The thin bezels and slim profile create an immersive viewing experience, allowing me to focus entirely on the content without any distractions. The TV also comes with a variety of mounting options, providing flexibility in terms of placement.
The user interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through different apps and settings. The built-in smart features allow for seamless streaming of content from popular platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube. The TV also supports voice control, which has proven to be a convenient feature for quick searches and content selection.
In terms of audio quality, the built-in speakers deliver clear and balanced sound. However, for a truly immersive experience, I recommend connecting an external sound system or soundbar to enhance the overall audio performance. The TV offers various audio output options to cater to different preferences and setups.
Lastly, I have to mention the exceptional customer service I received at Best Buy. The staff was knowledgeable and helped me make an informed decision based on my requirements and budget. Their assistance and expertise made the purchasing process smooth and hassle-free.
In conclusion, the OLED TV I purchased from Best Buy has surpassed all my expectations. The breathtaking picture quality, sleek design, and user-friendly interface make it a standout choice for anyone seeking an immersive entertainment experience. I highly recommend this TV to anyone looking to elevate their viewing pleasure.

This LG C2 TV has an amazing picture. It shocked me how good the picture quality is. It looks like I’m looking through a window with many images. It works so great with the PS5 and Xbox Series X which is the main reason I bought it. Basically, I wanted the 120 Hz variable refresh rate HDR tech. I can not say enough how well it works with these next generation consoles.
The TV 42 inch version is so fantastic. The price is great for the quality of this type. It also comes with many bells whistles. It works well with my Apple AirPod Max headphones and the Beats ones too. I also have a Nintendo Switch, Apple TV, Fire stick and TiVo hooked up to it. I plugged the PS5, Xbox Series X and Fire Stick directly into the TV’s HDMI ports for compatibility.
I then hooked the rest up with a HDMI 4K 60 Hz switch by Kinivo which works great with the Apple TV, TiVo and Nintendo Switch. The upscaling technology works so wonderful too. I love working with technology and have most my life. There is so much more to say but basically buy it you won’t regret it.

Using as a PC Monitor

Using this as a primary monitor. Upgraded from an LG34GN850, because I wanted the additional vertical space along with a high refresh rate and adaptive synch.
As others have mentioned, watch your physical distance from the monitor. I'm right about an arms length away and it works for me. I did purchase a stand to lift the height up above a sound bar I have on the desk. If this came with Dell style stand it would be perfect for my use case.
Picture is outstanding, especially the deep blacks, which is expected with this panel. I've used this primarily for work, but, gaming after hours has been a great experience.
Seriously thinking about getting two more at a future time as I run triple monitors. I currently have the 34" LG and the older 34" Dell stacked over under next to this one. Swapped out an older Dell 4k when I installed this set up.
One con is the fact this is a TV, not a monitor. So, the screen will shut off and will not wake when the PC wakes. I have to use the controller to turn the screen back on. That's just a hassle and not a deal breaker.

Let me start by saying that this is the second LG OLED C2 TV purchased in the past few months. I am not going to go into too many product details because there are many ratings based websites that you can go to and find out about the pros and cons of this set.
I will say that I am pleased that LG developed a 42" 4K TV that actually fits into a 40" TV cabinet. It is replacing a 2016 4K Samsung 40" TV (nobody makes 40" 4K TVs any longer). Thank you so much for making a TV that fits and one that has the best contrast on the market today.
One thing I noticed today but resolved was a strange flickering when watching certain Dolby Vision shows on Netflix. Apparently it is an issue that has been noted on forums and is related to Dolby Vision Precision Detail (new feature on 03.20.24 firmware and later). Since the issue has not returned I will not deduct for this anomoly.

I decided to invest in an OLED and saw this TV on sale for 799, and I jumped on it real quick!! Amazing TV! Its lightweight and easy to set up. Great with sports and streaming shows. The gaming on the PS5 is spectacular with the use of LG’s Game Optimizer mode and with vibrant colors plus a very fast refresh rate. One minor concern is that I also have a Fios set top box and the TV locks in Dolby Vision and don’t know how to change that. If you see and LG OLED on sale, go for it!!! You won’t be disappointed

Stupid good. I got this model & size for watching movies and anime in my room. I suggest looking up the review on rtings to see why this model is good.
It has usable and good smart features.
You can easily color correct, change temperature, increase the minimum black levels (if things are too dark ex I have it set to 54 instead of 50), change the gamma several different ways, etc.
You have advanced control over the TruMotion options. I think the presets are too much. Dejudder set to 2 is perfect and Deblurring set to 4 is perfection. Toss in clarity set to something like 10-20% and even older movies feel alive again.
If you're too lazy to go to rtings for indepth reviews, look at the attached picture. See how uniform the colors are? Now keep in mind that's with color temperature set to warm 10 and the brightness turned down to not cause eye strain. That is also the TV auto-upscaling 1080p anime to 4k resolution.
OLED is amazing if you want a uniform picture. This model in particular is really good because it's very price competitive and has just enough to be awesome, with very good controls.
A few things:
1) If you put the monitor in 'PC' mode (via hub > three dots > click connection > change to PC) you lose control over all of the video features. Which makes sense, but it also makes people suggesting this for PC use a tad confusing in some ways. If you have the budget for it and want a nice & big OLED monitor it would be a good fit. It could be great for gaming too. However, if your main use case is watching media, keep it in the normal mode.
2) Look up how to enable 4K colors.
3) Look up HDTVTest and this model on Youtube. He goes through and explains what each setting does.
4) The sound on this TV is more than adequate. Obviously if you're using any of these models in a big room like a large living you'll likely need (and possibly already have) extra audio equipment. For a smaller space it's more than loud enough. The speakers are way above what cheap TVs come with and you can even kick it up a notch using the Sound AI mode. Although the Sound AI isn't perfect (it's on the fly AI), it does focus on dialogue while also making loud effects more 'roomy'. It's awesome if you don't want to use extra sound stuff. This section should be obvious, but I've seen some reviews complaining about the speakers not being amazing. TV speakers aren't supposed to be amazing.
5) Hitting on point #1 again, OLEDs have burn in. Best Buy's Geeksquad warranty (everyone recommends the five year option) covers this. That being said, using something with burn in for PC use where there are tons of static elements likely isn't the best choice. It's your money though lol.
All in all, very glad I bought this. This model, the 42inch, is perfect for my room and the color accuracy is exactly what I wanted.

Loving it and spoils me in games, looks so beautiful and nice. Glad they made a 42 inch TV made the choice easier from a 48 inch. I use it as my main display for my PC running it with my 6900 xt. I placed it on my desk with stands to keep the center of the screen right above my eye level for ergonomics, I'm 6'3. The pictures don't do it justice, I followed HDTVTEST settings recommendations on UTube. Make sure to turn on VRR to help with stuttering when gaming in PC as seen in my pics. Money for OLED features was a no brainer comparing it to high end monitors. I wanted a true 4K display not ultra wide like alienwares new QD-OLED monitor. I have LGs OLED TVs in my living room and bedroom. Can't go back to regular LED TVs

Not really much to say, its like finally hitting the big leagues. I attempted this last year with the 43" sony x85j only to find out it halves vertical resolution for pc use only. The sony has basically become my girlfriends tv now since i dont think i can go back. Everythjng on the sony feels washed out in comparison or like it has a blue filter over it. Oled is really something you have to see to understand the value over a standard led pannel. Its especially apparent if you go back and forth between two types of screens. This tv pairs so well with my 4090. Vrr works about as well as youd expect (flashing in some static desktop applications fhat render via gpu, if youve ever used a freesync monitor with gsync compatibility mode youll know what im talking about. Strobing is nearly 100% abscent in games however). And response time is lightning fast, puts my old 43 inch acer predator to shame infact and i payed $1500 on sale for that beast in 2020. Color me impressed with the impressive colors from this tel-o-vision. Mmm mmm tasty

I have had this TV for almost a year and overall, it is fantastic! The picture looks great, especially for watching movies and sports. I use it for gaming as well on the Xbox Series X and it looks great for multiple titles.
My only complaint is the Software that runs the TV (webOS) it is sometimes slow or glitchy and the constant popups for updates can get annoying, therefore a great solution I went with was the Apple TV.
I use a 42'' in the bedroom but the I am sure that the larger sizes would be fantastic in larger spaces.

LG C2 - The perfect TV?

This is the best TV I have ever owned, hands down. A phenomenal pairing of craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, this is one of the more impressive TVs that currently exists. The blacks are perfect, the detail is sharp and clear, the colors are rich and accurate, and the motion is smooth and fluid. I use this TV for movies, sports, and gaming, and it is an absolute beast at all three. The OLED evo panel gets significantly brighter than something like the C1, and honestly puts OLED into the same category as mini-LED in terms of brightness. It is the perfect little bedroom TV that packs a stupidly good picture into a small and compact package. The only thing that isn't stupendous is the sound quality, but I don't expect theater-quality sound from a TV this small. You might want to pick up a soundbar with this if it is your main TV, but I use headphones most of the time so for me it isn't necessary.

I have been wanting to upsize my 32" 4K monitor for a long time, but computer monitors either dont support HDMI2.1 or are crazy expensive, and use IPS panels. This was the one I have been waiting for. The picture is bright, after adjusting ClearType it text is sharp, and the contrast is amazing. The streaming options are good, and makes for a quick way to grab a YouTube video if you need to, or just take a break from the keyboard and watch some TV.
The one thing I dont like: The stand. It was to wide for my table, so I ended up wall mounting it on an extendable mount. I would have much preferred a center stand like most small monitors/TVs have. I could have bought a center stand VESA mount, but they are much more expensive.
Other than that, it has been a perfect experience for me. I returned a CX a few years ago due to terrible banding, so I was hesitant to try another LG, but this one has no banding, and no Dirty Screen Effect at all. Very pleased.
No Displayport, but my Nvidia 3060 has HDMI 2.1, so it really did not matter. It would be a nice addition to the C3 though.

I cannot even describe how great this TV is. Nothing compares to OLED, got it on sale for $999 (a steal). Its great for gaming and works great as a monitor. I know burn in is a concern or risk with any OLED panels, but LG has done a very good job adding futures like OLED care in the tv settings to avoid this issue. I also have a C1 and no problems so far, I did add total tech for peace of mind plus its a great service. I honestly believe this is the best TV out there today in its size (42')

Replaced C1 48" with this. Wow! Obviously, the size is much better, and even after 1 year with 48", just couldn't get used to it. I have a 36" deep desk too.
Aside from size, the biggest improvement is picture quality thanks to higher PPI, and the MUCH improved software/processor of C2 vs C1. The C1 is annoyingly buggy and too many quirks when using it as computer monitor. The C2 has none of that, and LG Companion App works flawlessly. - power cycles perfect with my PC.
Lastly, the weight is half that of C1 48". Practically ANY monitor arm works like butter now. You definitely do NOT need to spend $300+ on ergo! Don't pay attention to the YouTubers. Any quality arm will be excellent.

Got this for my Xbox Series X. It looks amazing! I have always loved LG TVs and this OLED is beautiful. Games look amazing! Red Dead 2 looks so much better in HDR. I love this TV. Thank you LG for always having the best TVs at the best price. Pics don't do it justice. You have to see it for yourself.
It was a little tricky getting out of the box. I wish their were handle on the back panel. I was scared to pick it up on the outside panel. It's so thin lol.

I also have a lg curved 3d 4k oled also from 2016, didn’t think I would see much of a difference and yes there was quite a difference, didn’t notice til I got the new tv that rapidly movement cause a tearing effect, had Arc but not eARC ( so nice to have on the new tv), and pictured is much smoother and brighter on the C2. This is my first OLED panel and dang am I late to the party :) I am very picky with refresh rates and mostly have stuck to VA and IPS panels of 144-240hz. 120hz OLED in this format is gorgeous. Personally I wouldn't ever even try an FPS on this but if you're a console kiddie, you'll love it for that too!!!
Madden, Star Wars, Spiderman, etc are ALL glorious on my high-end PC and the colors even coming from IPS panels looks accurate and brilliant. I could ONLY imagine how impressive this screen will be to people that have only ever seen TN panels before ..
Black levels are obviously amazing. response time is blazing fast.

This thing is beautiful! I am using it as a computer monitor via HDMI 2.1. I bumped down one star due to not having Display Port like the new version, but I got an excellent deal from a local BBY. I also find the LG software slightly lagged compared to my Samsung QLEDs, but the picture quality is outstanding. The internal speakers also leave some to be desired, but that isn't anything a soundbar can't fix.
