LG 48 inch A2 series OLED tv

I am enjoying my LG OLED tv. I had been hesitant to purchase last years model, but the price was $549 and all other OLED started at $1000. It was 60 mz refresh rate, rather than the 120 mz refresh, which I was glad I could not notice any lag or ghosting watching the IU basketball game. I am not a gamer, so most of what I watch is football and basketball. I also had to consider that there were many LED tv's with a great picture for $300. What made the decision easier was seeing them side by side. OLED does have a sharper picture that also looks good even when you are not sitting squarely in front of the tv. A few things to mention for improvement. I had a steep learning curve using the remote that had no labels on it and no intruction book telling what each button does. Maybe if I had a smart tv previously, it would have been easier. I had an old 32 inch, 200 pound tv, so it is much nicer having a tv I can lift by myself. This one is about 25 pounds. Without instructions, I managed to get the tv up and running. I still have not been able to download any new apps on the tv and am not even certain it is possible. It came with several apps, but not the Dish Anywhere App. I also had to purchase a pedastal stand to be able to swivel the tv--I am still waiting on a friend to put that together, The end cap legs supplied were 1 inch too far apart for my stand. I had to bring in a longer board in order to use the tv. Most people mount these on the wall, but I live in an antique brick home with horsehair plaster and lath walls, which I did not want to trust to hold up this new tv. I have 3 hdmi ports and 1 usb port, wish it had another USB port. Also, the antennae input extends to the side in a tight spot. It would be better if it came straight out of the back. This is difficult for women and the elderly, as we have weaker finger muscles. I just checked and it does not readily appear that there is a way to use the tv without the remote. We have not lost it yet, so for now that is not a problem. I am very pleased with my purchase and the price. Delivery was on time. They also price matched within a week of delivery.

    Fit My Setup Perfectly

I decided to move my computer/gaming area to a smaller room which is perfect for what I need. I have a 75" tv in the room but it sits to the side and to be able to watch it I have to turn away from what I'm doing on the computer. I decided I wanted a tv over my computer monitors to be able to watch tv without having to completely stop using my computer. I also wanted to be able to more easily play games from my cpu on the tv. I decided to go with the A2 purely for the price. I looked at the C3, but didn't really care about the faster refresh rate, one more HDMI port and over 2X price difference. First the picture on this tv is phenomenal. We have multiple 4k tvs in the house, but this is the first OLED, and WOW! The 48" is the perfect size for the setup I was going for. The picture is perfect and it was a breeze to set up. I mounted it on the wall which was easy. This is the second LG tv we've bought in the past two years and I will probably only buy LG from now on. I currently have Vizio, Samsung, Sony and a FireTV. This LG is by far the best of all of them. For the price, quality and easy of setup I'd highly recommend this TV. Surprisingly, the sound that comes out of the tv is pretty good. I originally used Apple HomePod Minis in a stereo pair for my audio, but upgraded to a Sonos Beam soundbar. If you are looking to step up to an OLED tv, you can't go wrong with this one.

    2yr Unboxing Anniversary Review

10/30/2024 will mark the 2yr unboxing anniversary of the best TV I have ever owned. My prior tv was also an LG model purchased from Best Buy Christmas of 2013 (it was the highest model 55” they made, without being a “smart tv”). I didn’t have the need for it to have its own OS. The TV lasted me 9 years, 3 states, 4 houses, 2 girlfriends and 1 dog. All I really knew I wanted for my new tv is OLED. My ambient lighting is always controlled and I value color, contrast and clarity. Boy oh Boy was I not disappointed! My first test was my Xbox S and Halo had unreal quality and incredibly immersive sound, (I have matching LG soundbar with subwoofer that activates “Dolby Atmos” when paired with eARC) Next I downloaded the MAX app using LGs seem-less OS and home layout. The MAGIC REMOTE is the greatest remote I’ve ever used. - Track ball activated “point to guide” cursor that I absolutely love using. Easy and accurate Voice navigation anytime with just a click. And MUCH more! Several video modes let you set the tone to match the films projected experience or review a well known film in a different setting for a new experience. (Personally I like “Vivid”), that is until it becomes a bit much for my old person eyes and I switch back to “Standard”. Yes, the brightness, color and clarity is overwhelmingly so at times that it made me fear for the health of the display.— LG once again knocks it out the park with an automatic “pixel cleaning” setting that will occasionally alert you with an option to leave the TV undisturbed for 30min ish while it executes and “pixel cleaning”. I am not going to pretend like I know exactly what that is or how it helps, but I have heard about OLED being susceptible to pixel burn ins. Some of my Xbox games are notorious for having meters/bars/texts/options, stationary throughout a long duration. This is definitely a concern (a concern that is actively monitored and resolved). Overall I am very happy! If you make the correct choice for yourself with ANY LG OLED, you will be very happy too!

    Second OLED

On sale today at last month's Black Friday price it replaced our 50" Samsung LED bedroom TV that fit like a glove into our Armoire. This is the 48" OLED from LG made specifically for Best Buy, at least for now. It fit into the same spot leaving about an inch on each side, and is an inch shorter in height, so yes the screen is slightly smaller than the 50" it replaced. BUT in dim light this thing pops unlike anything I've seen except its big brother the 65" OLED LG B9 in our living room. At a third of what I paid for the 65" three years ago in November of 2019 I found the way to justify an OLED for the bedroom. Otherwise this purchase would not have happened in December of 2022. Thank you LG and thank you Best Buy.

Our Sony gave up the ghost (blown power board I suspect) so we knew we needed a new TV and to Best Buy we ran. We had a budget of up to $1000 but that was pushing it. We finally got someone to help us and we were opting for the Hisense as it had most of the features we wanted. But I noticed this LG OLED at just 48" which was just slightly bigger than our Sony. Using my Best Buy app I scanned the bar code. THAT MUST BE A MISTAKE!!!! $599 for an OLED screen? I told the salesperson and they looked at me like oh yeah, right. None of the OLEDs go for less than $1000. He scanned the bar code with the official store app while I awaited to hear the real price. "Son of a gun!!!" It is $599. I'LL TAKE IT I EXCLAIMED!!!!!! He replied "ME TOO!". Seems they had two in stock. Okay, this isn't the top of the line OLED monitors but man oh man does it look great. While watching Star Trek, yes, the old one, it looked like a new show. Space was dark and the colors beyond vibrant. And it only got better from there. It has built in LG channels that are free (basically Pluto channels) and comes with a host of free apps, browsers, Google Voice Assistant and more. AND, yeah it's 4K. I don't have anything out side of my DSLR that will show me 4K but my images looks so detailed. Cons? Well, 48" is probably small for most of you but for us it's a great size as we have a small living room. LG really one upped everyone on this one. If you have a chance to grab one, DO! The salesman was having someone write up the other TV while we purchased this one. So glad we didn't go with the Hisense though it was a bigger screen. The quality and clarity more and vibrant colors more than make up for those missing inches. OLED is definitely the way to go. Oh and if you are worried about burn in, the TV comes with automatic maintenance built in that runs automatically after so many hours to prevent or reduce burn in.

I have been wanting an OLED tv forever. When my old LED kicked the bucket I was ECSTATIC to find this one half off! But it would have been worth full price too! The colors are almost unbelievable, especially when playing 4K HDR content. My games on my series X almost made me cry! Even regular old HD cable looks like new! You won’t regret it!!!

I couldn’t be more pleased with this tv. I loooooove it, the picture is eeeeexxxxcccceeeelllleeeeennnttt!!! Insert several star eyes emojis!! I highly highly highly recommend this tv to anyone! Best Buy has the best price! I’ve searched everywhere! It has ai intuitive enhancement for image and sound, the difference is incredible! I’m really happy with the size too because I don’t like tv’s that totally take over the room. It fits perfectly above our fireplace on our corner wall, it’s just all around perfect! Only complaint I would have is removing the tv from the box if you want to keep the box intact. There are no directions on how to successfully remove the tv, only what not to do. It is pretty much impossible to follow their directions of what not to do because it’s almost impossible not to grab the screen and they advise against grabbing the screen to remove. You can just carefully slice the box open and remove it that way, which they also advise against, but if you are trying to keep the box as a renter and know you’ll probably move in 2 years or so like me, then that’s not an option for you. My roommate and I did finally remove it, but she did end up grabbing the screen at one point. It’s pretty impossible to remove from the box without doing that. So, i would suggest engineering a better box for removal.

This tv has amazing color and clarity, and great sound quality. The remote is very sensitive. I connected my dvd player easily, but not my sound bar. Couldn't find the correct numbers to enter. I haven't even used all the things it offers like voice command from built in Alexa. Will be using it soon.

Like many, I purchased this Black Friday 2022 on a Great Deal. I was a little skeptical but this truly is a fantastic tv and I am quite satisfied! PROS: - Unboxing and setup is pretty easy as this is very light and thin! I wall mounted mine and had no issues whatsoever. - Once you turn on the tv there are a few steps you need to do like connect to the internet but the startup wizard to set you up is very nice and smooth! - I am using this TV with an Apple TV 4K (2022 Model) and it produced crystal clear Dolby Vision at 60hz. I was very impressed with the picture quality! The definition is fantastic, the OLED panel really provides great contrast, and the Dolby Vision is a game changer! Can’t say enough how great the picture quality is for the price! - I was also very impressed with the TV’s sound quality! The TV produces Dolby Atmos with its built in speakers and it’s probably the most impressed I have been with TV speakers before. I ultimately went with a Soundbar setup instead using the HDMI ARC and that supported my Dolby Atmos sound bar as well. - The TV also comes loaded with great features like Streaming Apps, Google Assistant / Amazon Alexa, and plenty other smart tv options. CONS: - It is only 60hz refresh rate, aka no 120hz if you want to use this for high end gaming. BOTTOM LINE: - This truly is a great TV! Perfect for the space I needed it in and comes loaded with features. It produces Dolby Vision picture quality and its built in Speakers produce Dolby Atmos sound as well. The A2 is perfect for home streaming viewing!

Best tv ever. My first OLED and am blown away. The black are blacking and the white are so white. They it’s so nice being able to finally see all the details in very dark scenes. No worry about burn in because after about a minute in it goes to a screensaver. The sound is also surprisingly good on the AI PRO Sound setting. No soundbar needed in my opinion. The only con is the brightness but that’s to be expected for an entry level OLED. As long as you turn all the lights off it should be bright enough for all scenes. Bright scenes are okay with outdoor light though. If you’re willing to wait I’d recommend getting it in Black Friday. I would also recommend getting a better stand so you can adjust the height and just have more structural integrity. I got mine for $550 instead of the $1300 it retails for.

Great TV. probably the position but almost never has a bad glare. The 5 minute pixel cleaning is annoying to sit and wait while its off but i believe its daily (one and done). But very annoying to have to say no on every wake up. I have 2 sources. Ps4 pro and roku. Roku is strictly for the clock. Nothing signed into. All my apps are opened from the installed tv apps. If you turn the tv on while its on ps4's input, it will turn the ps4 on which can get annoying, having to turn on a controller to put in rest mode can get tiring. The remote center "select" button is scrollable so hitting dead center can be tricky. (Instead of hitting pause you scroll down). Also almost forgot. Ive had to unplug(not just power off) a handful of times due to wifi not working (apps not loading). Every other device on the network is working. Tv won't connect to established wifi network. Soon as I turn it back on (after a few minutes) i don't need to even sign into the network, apps load just fine. Hasn't happened recently probably from turning off for few hours (letting tv reset and rest) Been a year (11/26/22-11/12/23) with no obvious quality issues. Same batteries in remote.

1+ year after ownership and I'm still pretty stunned by this TV. It's my first OLED, so it's the first time in my 30 years on this earth I am actually seeing a TV display the color black. The rest of the colors are spectacular as well. It does HDMI w/ ARC and CEC flawlessly to an old Marantz AV and Roku. Can't say much about the UI: I use a Roku which is always speedy and has voice control, which the LG does not. And the Roku remote integrates perfectly - it turns on/off and does volume on the TV, AV receiver, and Roku all together. One remote! Amazing! Needless to say I am very pleased. But not all is perfect. A few times I've seen a specific pixel get stuck white for a few minutes. By the time I get the energy to think about doing something about it, it seems to resolve itself. Not worth going without the TV for a few days over something I've seen happen for 15 minutes out of a years worth of ownership. There's a million other pixels, and it's been absolutely stunning 99.999% of the time. Overall, OLED is worth the hype. And this TV got me there at a lower price point than I thought it could.

This thing looks great in my bedroom. I’ve always been a Samsung purchaser, but I’m a believer in LG now. The picture on this is better than my 65” Samsung. The black levels are excellent which is my biggest complaint with my Samsung. And on sale at $559 this TV was a steal. Next TV purchase for my living room will be an LG.

I've also got my parents & mother in law this tv for their bedrooms. Everytime I see one of them they always tell me that text is easier to read & how beautiful the picture is. I also have an Xbox Series X. This tv is great for most games with 60fps or less.

I purchased the A2 on Black Friday for $580, and it was an amazing deal. This was a major step up from my previous Sony edge lit x80 (same size, size refresh rate) and also my first OLED tv. I've installed a lot of OLEDs from my previous job, and it never gets old being enamored by how thin the panel is and how black the screen is during the initial setup. A las, the two major drawbacks for me was the amount of HDMI ports and the refresh rate being lock at 60hz. For movies and HDR content, it's tremendous, but if you're planning to get the most out of your current gen consoles and want the ability to game at 4K 120hz with variable refresh rate (for select titles), you may want to go up a grade (which is what I eventually did).

I purchased this to replace a broken 1080p LED from a budget brand from a few years ago, and the improvements in picture quality and user experience are substantial. LG clearly put a lot of thought into making the interface and experience worthy of the price and brand name. The amount of detail and clarity in scenes is excellent, and the OLED technology really shines in dark scenes. Compared to regular LED, details against dark backgrounds are distinct and black levels are consistent, whereas LED would look muddy and pixelated. Although I use external speakers, the built-in speakers were surprisingly good during the few minutes I used them while setting up my other speakers, and I almost thought it was using a combination of TV and external speakers. The menu navigation is faster and friendlier than other TV brands I've tried, although I haven't tried accessing very many of the built-in apps yet. Setup was straightforward if lengthy due to the large number of user agreements needed to access some apps & services, but you can ignore them during initial setup and set them up as needed when starting a service for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised to find there's an on-screen TV guide even with my external antenna that has never been present on any other TV I've used it with. I have had one issue with a slight but noticeable audio delay when playing non-4K Blu-Ray movies, but I'm not sure if this is caused by the TV, a shortcoming of my aging Blu-Ray player, or a combination of settings and AI upscaling features I've enabled on this TV that don't work particularly well in that situation. I'll have to try out different settings to see if I can resolve this.
