I was looking for a TV to use on our covered porch. Everyone wants a great picture but what was important to me was brightness and sound. The picture is absolutely stunning. It is bright and the colors are rich. The sound from the native speakers is so good that I don't have to have it anywhere near full volume when using it outside. I have the TV connected to Wifi and have used the YouTube, YouTube TV, Prime Video and Vudu apps. I'm currently watching a 4k YouTube video of Norway and it feels like I'm actually there. This TV is great! Don't hesitate to buy it.

I looked over Best Buy web it shows 599$. But when I got to the store the price was 399$. Tv is the best easy to setup, quality better than Samsung for that price. O. And menu 100 times better than other TVs

I needed a TV that would fit in a small apartment and so I got the 49". This picture quality is excellent and the sound is fabulous. I don't need an additional sound bar! I have been watching some old movies on Disney + and the night scenes are easy to see. On my old TV the same scene was dark and hard to make out the action.

Light leaks around TV - very poor in dark room

I am very disappointed by this TV and I am wondering if it is my TV that is defective or if it is jut the model. I purchased it over a month ago as a secondary TV (to my LG65C8 that I am very happy about). There are no 49inch OLED TV, so I was expecting poor black levels, but in a dark room it’s much worst than I expected, even after adapting all the settings, blacks are just fade grey. Result is much much worst that my old Samsung FULL HD TV. But the worst and my main issue with it is the many light leaks I have around the TV. I originally did not return the TV because I thought “Okay I bough a “cheap” TV, it’s because of the edge lit”, but after a month of use, I can’t stand watching a movie anymore using this TV. The attached image makes it seem worst that it actually is, my wife is not bothered by it, but I am. Is it my TV and therefore covered under warranty? Or is it normal for this model and should just give it away?

    Great Looking tattle tale(smart) TV

I purchased this TV because it has a stand that fits my tv table, and it has the wide viewing angle. Its not at all a Smart TV in the arena of setting itself up for picture and sound. LG is pretty lackluster in the manual department and you will have to search other professional reviews Online in order to set up the picture the way you will want it. By that I mean in focus, bright enough, color correction, and sound quality. Get yourself a soundbar. The speakers will destroy your impression of this TV. Once all this is done, the TV gives you the impression that its still not quite right because you have been fiddling with the quality for a couple of hours at this point. These settings will need to be done for each input. There are a lot of presets and other ways to dial in the picture, so its an undertaking for sure. Once you actually settle in on these settings the picture is crisp and true. Brightness is lacking in several of the presets, which is odd to me since there are settings where the brightness is fine. I have not used the tattletale(Smart) functionality of this TV since I have a fire device hooked up thru hdmi for amazon and a Mac mini for all my other internet streaming. I am not sure why LG needs to have so much ownership of my viewing decisions, and I am not sure I want to do that to them anyway. That said, if you want to work for free for LG, they make it very easy to use. The icons for all your viewing apps are aligned at the bottom of the screen, and they have more apps for you to acquire should you feel the experience is deficient without them. All of these datums you give them are then scrambled to return to you in future decisions for problems you have already solved in the past, and for commercial demos. They make one a carnival mirror onto oneself. Carnival mirrors are fun, for a while. I understand why it's necessary for the streaming platforms to gather viewing data for all sorts of efficiencies, but I have no idea why LG needs to be another middleman between my content and me. THE SMART REMOTE IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Great functionality for typing in network passwords and navigating the screen. It even lets you speak to it instead of at it to get even more content. Easy to switch between smart mode and old fashioned button pressing mode. The picture of the tv is fantastic. 4K content looks absolutely stunning, and lower def content streaming is upscaled very nicely without any blotchiness. Its kinda like they have the algorithm the TV FBI uses to re image blurry photos and videos. If you are energy conservation aware, this TV uses < 10w when powered off. My last TV 2009 Vizio used 120w when powered off. Also it has never gotten over 102°F which means its more efficient while running as well. My old TV was a heater all across the screen. The inputs are all well placed. Had no idea I would need so many USB inputs, but I will find out. Analog and digital sound inputs are easy to hook up, as is the coaxial antenna cable. The bezel around the screen is so thin and clean it fits in the space my 44” Vizio took up. Summing it up, the Nano scale technology works best with the greens in the color scale, so its fantastic for nature, soccer and football, except Idaho of course, and the 4K works flawlessly as does the upscaling. I am not a fan of their middleman Smart TV nonsense even though I use all of their apps on different devices. For $600 they should be happy with that and need no more. I am.

Great TV Technically superior to all others but...

The boxes are all checked awesome except for two. Great are color, stand shape and stability, speed of apps, refresh rate, connections ability, price, and remote. the first negative is the edge lit technology. As opposed to local. On screens where there is just a small bit of a display, you can see how above and below the graphic is lit up. The worst graphic defect in this department is in dark scenes, where half the screen is brighter. Sometime you actually see the screen adjusting the darkness/brightness really quickly, but it gives the illusion that a lamp in the scene was just turned off. The second negative is it's app management/store. There are the popular apps you expect. (netflix, etc) But I wanted the ability to replace my Roku with the apps store for LG. Not possible. My favorite app, Pluto TV, is not available in the LG app store. I stopped looking for other apps in the LG store, since if they didn't have Pluto TV, I'm sure many others are missing. So I have to keep using my roku with this new tv. This negative is extremely fixable if they just add apps to their app store. I've read that there are political type reasons Pluto TV and others aren't available, because LG's version of Pluto TV, which doesn't even compare at all, is is direct competition with Pluto TV and similiar apps. If it were not for these two negatives above, I would have rated this a 'perfect' TV. I've done months of research to find a replacement for my old Samsung that has a dying backlight, and I was originally looking at the Sony XBR49 but it was almost double the cost of this TV. The sony had an excellent App Store and local backlighting, which would have provided me the perfect tv. But the one area this LG TV was better is the center stand it has. Seems center stands are not being made much anymore, and my corner TV stand can't accommodate edge legs. I've had LG monitors and phones before, and they are usually very good equipment. I hope this TV keeps this tradition true for me. So if you have unlimited funds, and want to overpay for a TV, buy the Sony. Otherwise, this is the best TV you can get for the money.

I returned my Samsung Q60R and purchased this LG. This TV beats Samsung Q60 hands down on so many levels. 1. 120hz refresh rate, 2. Local dimming 3. Dolby Vision 4. Web OS 5. IPS Panel (Ultra wide viewing angle) 6. Super rich & deep colors without being over saturated 7. Deep blacks and whitest whites 8. Nano thin Bezel 9. Super cool Magic Remote 10. One remote controls my Direct Tv, Blue-Ray & Sound bar.

I love this TV. Its the perfect size for a bedroom mounted on my wall, but the main thing is the nanocell technology. For those that don't know, nanocell is a technology that LG uses to take excess light and color out of the TV to make it more natural and comfortable to look at, especially in a darker room. It doesn't get as bright as similar TVs by Sony and Samsung, but for my purpose, that was perfect. It is also one of only 2 TVs I know of with a 120hz refresh rate in the 49" size, and its compatibility that all major forms of HDR is awesome. This TV is also compatible with Apple TV and Homekit, with alexa and google assistant built in. The WebOS system is extremely easy to navigate, and the magic remote is easily the best remote I have ever use. I have yet to find a better TV for $550. Looking forward to buying some of LGs higher end sets in the future.

    Great Mid-Sized 4K TV!

The 49" LG Nanocell TV fit my needs for a mid-size TV with a great picture. And it was easy to set up. It has multiple HDMI inputs, so one for my digital cable TV service, one ARC- HDMI for my soundbar and used a third HDMI for a Roku streaming stick - although as a Smart TV there are multiple services that I could get directly via WiFi connevtion, like Netflix and bypass the Roku. I just like the set of things I have set up on Roku. And TV has another HDMI available for a Blue-Ray player if I want. The LG OS automatically recognized the devises connected and so only had to tweak a few preferences for each. Once it was set up, the viewing joy began. Movies and sports look phenomenal on this TV!! Love it! Had TV for 3 weeks, and No complaints so far.

Once I was able to find and determine the best & optimum display settings for my living room, the best picture appeared from any TV that I ever owned. (To note, it took me two days to workout which settings, but it was truly worth it.) What was also impressive was the ease by which the remote control practically programmed itself to work with my cable box and my streaming apps. A very helpful feature, indeed. Also glad I went to Best Buy to see the actual TV on display in person, instead of just ordering it online; the sales reps were the best (no pressure) and the store beat every online price too. Am extremely pleased!

Bought this for my son as a graduation gift. We set it up very easily and the picture is amazing! Great tv for my den. Not everyone needs a 65+" TV. The nanotech technology is amazing. Features are endless. Love streaming on this thing. Refresh rate amazing, colors very vivid. Almost unfair to actors and actress's. (Too much makeup! Haha). Fits perfectly in my 12X12 den. Only note which wasn't a problem for me, the sound from the tv itself is terrible!!. Make sure you have a great sound system or soundbar. Buy it

I have had this TV for almost a week and I am very happy with the quality of the TV. It is connected to an Xfinity TV cable box. I decided to go with this LG model over the Sony X900F due to the price and the quality of picture. The Sony had a nice picture but not good enough to justify the $400 price difference. I am still getting use to the picture size of the TV since it replaced a Sony 40” TV (1080p) that I have owned for about 7 years. I opted to keep my old Sony 1080p Blu Ray player instead of buying a new 4K player since I stopped buying Blu Ray and DVD discs a few years ago due to the availability of streaming services. The picture quality of this Blu Ray player connected to the new LG TV is very gratifying. Before the Geek Squad came out and installed the new TV (more about that below), I bought at Best Buy a JBL 3.1 channel sound bar and connected it to the old TV. I was pleased with its sound quality and decided to keep it and use it on the new LG TV. The JBL sound bar and new TV seem to work together in perfect harmony. I am able to control core functions of the sound bar and TV with my Xfinity remote. I have to mention the excellent installation service we received from the Geek Squad team. They set up the TV and connected all of the components from the old TV (cable box, Blu Ray player, sound bar) and patiently answered all my questions about the TV. Hopefully, this LG TV will gives us years of trouble free service as the older 1080p LG TV we have installed in one of our bedrooms.
