Highly recommend this washer! It's quiet, easy to use, and looks great! The drum is so large that my time spent doing laundry has been cut in half. Clothes are clean and smell great! My favorite part is the load sensor function - no need choosing load size, this washer fills accordingly! Highly recommend!

The only reason I almost did not choose 5 stars is because the technology is unfamiliar to me and I didn't anticipate having to learn a new system. That said, it was easy to use right away, before even I looked at the Quick Guide. It is quiet (especially the stainless steel tub), beautiful, efficient and quite simple to use, she even sings the cutest little song! I am very happy with my decision.

We just moved into our brand new home and after much research, we chose LG for our washing and drying needs. This LG 5.0 Cu. Ft. 8 Cycle Top Loading Washer is truly great. We had a washer in our previous from the main LG competitor built in the same country, which was a big time major disappointment. It too was top loading, but clothes got stained and it was recalled for it's unique ability to literally blow up when cleaning towels/bed linens. LG's reputation for excellence in washers/dryers is real. This washer features TurboWash3D™ technology that cuts down on wash times, save precious time and energy. In addition with LG SmartThinQ™ technology you can download their free app to your Android or iOS device and manage your washer/dryer as well as get alerts telling you your closes are clean. SmarThinQ is also Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa compatible letting you use voice commands to start a wash cycle from anywhere. COOL. The bottom line is this washer is quiet, efficient, cleans your clothes really well, is technologically advanced with Wifi/App or Amazon/Google assistant control and it looks terrific to boot.

Literally cut my laundry in half and I don’t have any laundry that comes out damaged. Super quiet and efficient. Made me nervous that the washer takes longer to wash but it’s so big it still cut my family of 4 laundry in half

Bought this replace a 12-year-old standard washer that finally bit the dust. It's my first HE washer and I wasn't looking forward to it given all the nasty things said by some about HE washers. But after using it for a week I love it and don't get what all the HE gripes are about. Has cleaned all kinds of laundry loads big and small, mildly and very dirty, just fine. Plus it offers all kinds of options to adjust water temps, water levels and so on. Wasn't sure how useful the WiFi features would be but turns out I actually do like getting the app messages when a load is done and ready for the dryer -- as well as the option to download additional wash cycles. Hats off also to the outstanding Best Buy online buying process. I ordered this, scheduled delivery for two days later, and got delivery reminders right up until it arrived. Didn't speak to anyone until the delivery guy rang the doorbell.

I love my new LG High Efficiency Smart Top Load Washer. Easy to use and setting the wash instructions for each load is very user friendly. My clothes came out looking like new and sampling fresh. The washer is very quiet and I like the Speed Wash Option for small loads.

Love this washer! Let me first say I had all intentions to buy a front loader set. I read reviews of how they get smelly at the gasket area. But reading GE’s new technology thought I would try it. It was delivered and ran the test load and there was like a quarter cup of water in drum. I ran another load did not empty water. I called GE and they were very helpful and were going to set an appointment for someone to come out the next day. She said maybe water pressure wasn’t sufficient. I have had a washer here 25 yrs never had an issue. Than she though maybe a water sensor needed to be replaced. I told her I would call back. After that conversation I went back to Best Buy and talked to my sales rep. I decided to return them and after looking I was going back to Top Loaders. She shared she had the LG and loved it. I read reviews some had concern over water level. I must admit to watching half the process because the top is clear glass. It is HE so it does use less but clothes are definitely clean. I have the 5 cu because I wash my blankets and quilts. I have the set the 7 cu gas dryer. Very happy with the quality and the look of the set.

Love this washer. The only thing I did not realize is that this washer does not have a light in it. It has a glass top and I thought it had a light so I could see it washing. It does a great job and I like the big tub to wash bedding. We bought this same washer and dryer in white for my daughter and son-in-law when they bought their house. She really liked it so when we needed a new washer, I got this one but in the Graphite Steel color instead of white.

I bought this on sale for 700$. I have nothing but good things to say! I have a family of 5 and the size cuts down on washing so often. This size model handles large loads and king size comforters very well. I see people complaining about the water levels, but with energy efficient models tend to use less water. With that being said it has a sensor for filling and a deep water option. The Wi-Fi ability is a nice touch. Being notified when the wash is done and being able to schedule future washes is a convenient feature I love. Overall a big machine that will clean your clothes and gives you decent Wi-Fi features.

No match for a good front loader

Top loading washers like this one are simply no match for front loaders: the competition isn’t even close. The problem is physics. We tested 3 new washers (2 top loaders and 1 front loader) and want to pass on what we learned (sorry, this is going to be a long review). Old timey top loaders filled the tub with water and an agitator pushed the clothes through the soapy water. The clothes were completely submerged in water, which helped. On the other hand, they used a ton of water, which was not great. The new high efficiency top loaders, use a lot less water and don’t have an agitator. Instead, there’s a rotating disk at the bottom of the tub that kind of pushes the clothes around. However, the clothes don’t move very much. That lack of movement combined with the lack of water leads to subpar cleaning performance. I washed a bunch of cotton t-shirts and jeans in this machine using the deep fill option. After the cycle, several shirts were covered in lint and other debris (see attached photo). You could see where the residue collected in the folds. The folds weren’t rinsed out because the machine didn’t move the shirts around enough to remove the folds. That’s not good from a cleaning/wrinkle perspective. Next, we tried a top load washer with an agitator (a Maytag). Most HE top loaders have the option to add an agitator. The problem is the agitator does almost nothing. It’s not like the agitator in the old machines. The main source of movement is still the rotating disk at the bottom of the tub. As far as I can tell, the agitator is just for show because it certainly doesn’t move the clothes around much. Front loaders are a completely different story: they use gravity to wash your clothes (science!) First, they saturate the clothes with soapy water. Then they tumble them by rotating the drum and allowing gravity to drop the clothes. This causes the clothes to rub against themselves and each other, which is a good thing. That movement is what makes front loaders so much more effective at cleaning. If I had to guess, I would say the clothes are moved around 1000 times more than in a top loader. Front loaders are also better at spinning. They can spin faster, which means laundry will be drier. And there are fewer wrinkles because the tumbling action removes any existing folds. Plus, I never experienced an out of balance spin in 7 years of using a front loader. But we had multiple loads in the top loader that started knocking and showed an out of balance warning. Front loaders aren’t without their problems. Our previous front loader developed a mildewy smell, which is why we tried some top loaders. But that problem could have been easily avoided if we were more careful: with a front loader, you should make sure the gasket and drum are clean and dry. The easiest way to do that is to leave the door open after a load and occasionally wipe down the door and gasket. We ended up with a GE Ultrafresh front loading washer. It tackles the mildew problem by using a microbial-resistant gasket and a venting system that can dry out the drum with the door closed. The venting runs for 8 hours (you can do it overnight) and leaves the gasket and drum completely dry. Plus, it has an automatic detergent dispenser which I love. TLDR: Front loading: good. Top loading: bad. Note: I don’t normally leave 1-star reviews. But given the cleaning performance, I’m honestly not sure why anyone would buy a top loader. I guess the only saving grace is that a lot of the lint left by the washer will come off in the drier. However, the lint/residue is a sign that the clothes aren’t getting cleaned as well.

I love both the dryer and the washer! They are quiet and do a great job! I like the tub clean feature on the washer which keeps it from smelling funky if done regularly. Both are large capacity and accommodate big loads. I like the sensing feature of the washer which senses the size of the load and sets the wash time accordingly.

I absolutely love this washer and dryer set. It sends me text messages when the washer and dryer have stopped which for some reason makes me less likely to leave it and forget about it. I also love how the washer lid has a soft-close feature so it never accidentally slams closed. The washer takes up less space in the laundry room than my old one yet somehow has a larger capacity. That said, if you are less than 5'5" you will need a step stool to reach down to get your clothes out of the bottom of this washer. I am 5'5" and can just reach the bottom on my tiptoes. It can easily hold large quilts and comforters. I'm very happy with it.

Second one that I have purchased. Had one in my old home and never thought twice about putting one in my new place. Clothes actually come out “clean”, and the machine doesn’t stink like most front loaders do. Beyond that, the unit only uses the minimum amount of water needed for the load. It’s not like the old days when the whole tub filled up with water. This is a great unit. I also added the matching dryer that I also previously owned. Best Buy is a pleasure to deal with with appliance purchases and scheduling/rescheduling etc.

LG has made it very easy to use this top load washer. Using the wi fi capability allows me to managed the load timeframe without waiting for the cycle to finish. Compared to previous machines, the quick wash option could be a little easier to determine....but overall the machine is great. Just love the dryer with multiple options for loading and unloading clothes.
