Got this as an upgrade because I thought my old one was toast. Turns out it was the digital optical cable was bad. Great mistake for me. It changed watching television... the sound is so crisp and clear and the bass shakes the floor. Then I went to my spotify.... rocked the house.

You spend $900 on a soundbar and 1.5 years later the subwoofer goes up and lg wants $300 to fix it , when I asked them to buy just the circuit board itself and I'll fix it they tell me they don't have that part so they gave me a phone number to call to try and get it they tell me they cant get it either , found out they dont make the circuit board anymore so how would they be able to fix it , Lg lost all of my business they just want to sell you crap products and when it brakes they they want a ton of money to fix it , warning, stay away from there soundbars

Absolutely horrible!!!! I have a Sony soundbar that I have had over 2 years and still works. This LG I have barely had less than a year and the subwoofer won’t connect to the soundbar. This is an ongoing issue. Shouldn’t be happening especially for the price and it being one the top line models. So much for you get what you pay for. I then called LG customer service who doesn’t want to help. All they do is say they are researching and then hang up on you.

Great soundbar with Atmos. I was really lucky to find the soundbar at the sub $500 dollar range. I purchased it as an open box special. I was amazed by the price cut when the speaker system retails for $999.00 dollars.

This would easily be a five-star audio system as you get Dolby Atmos 100% of the time versus any other brand that needs the TV to signal the sound bar or even sound system to trigger the Dolby Atmos with LG you just need to put it on movie or cinema mode and the Dolby Atmos speakers play all the time along with the two side speakers they consider those surround sound so you have surround Dolby Atmos and then basically a 3.1 in the front and the subwoofer can boom.
The reason I didn't give it five stars is they don't need to have the Google Assistant in it but I guess for some people it's nice the only problem is is when you hook it up if you have too many other devices around it you're going to notice crackling in the speakers because of interference.
Since I have a Sony 958 which has Google Assistant in it and a Google nest right below it with the screen every time I say the magic Google words it would trigger three things My TV the sound bar and the nest annoying!
So then I decided to read the manual it said okay you can reset it by holding the microphone down for 5 seconds on the sound bar not the remote just in case you guys make a mistake hold the mute button on the soundbar it's a little microphone that slashed out hold that for 5 to 6 seconds and your system or soundbar will reset back to factory specs.
Well after that when I would ask my Google what the weather was the sound bar would say you have not set this device up yet so I started getting annoyed well I found out it was just as simple as touching the mute button one time and now I'm good to go.
Now I thought it was pretty good then but then I went and started looking into higher end audio stores and the best way to set up the system as usually your TV and stereo system is set on PCM that is the absolute worst thing you can do for this sound bar you want to make it on pass through and there's a few other tricks but literally when I did that on the Sony the volume and base literally doubled I was watching TV normally at 10 to 11 now 5 to 6 on the volume.
So another thing is I have an LG OLED C8 and it's almost 2 years old I got it October 2018 well they were doing a deal with that and I got an SK9Y which is just an older model of this that did not have the Google Assistant in it and that thing rocked but after about 8 months it started getting interference and the sub would cut out when I was playing Xbox so LG gives you a one-year warranty on it they sent me a box I put it in send it to them and they apparently changed the part in the subwoofer which did absolutely nothing and all I ended up doing was buying a better modem and router and moving it higher and further away from the system and no more problems.
Well with this system it's in my living room it's away from everything else but like I said if you have multiple devices whether it's Alexa or any voice command devices if your TV has voice command I I tell you this in advance do not bother with the Google Assistant Don't set it up just mute the mic and then use the remote to set it to your preference take it off PCM on the TV and put it on pass through and also make sure you have it on Dolby Atmos Dolby DTS Don't be surround and look for these at like Allen Ed's audio whoever sells the most outrageous priced audio equipment is going to have the best way to set up your soundbar or sound system and that's what I did I tried to step by step and it is now amazing.
It would be so nice if Best buy had employees that had this knowledge and could tell you this before you purchased the item because I know only about 5% of people are going to read everything that I wrote well spoke.
Anyway I have two of the LG 5.1.2 sound bars The SK9Y and now the SN9y and they are both amazing on the older one I just use an optical cable as ark did not make a difference I could even run it on Bluetooth and it sounded exactly the same but on this newer one you definitely want to run an HDMI cable and run it to the ark channel on your TV.
And lastly the only reason I didn't go with the 10 was the giant gap in size I have the Sony 950H and a 55-in and have the stands where they're supposed to be spread out all the way and this literally fits perfectly in there it doesn't go all the way back it goes to the middle of the stand where the metal is welded together but it makes it look that like the TV was built this way it's so clean.
The SN10 I think is another 5 in on each end so another 10 inches long and you only get an extra 50 watts get out of here I mean I can shake my apartment with this where the floors walls mirror shake everything if you get it set up right like I said with pass through put it on arc and make sure you have Dolby Atmos DTS and surround sound all enabled then you are going to have an amazing sound system

The Google assistant enabled Sound bar with wireless subwoofer sounds great! The sound bar is quite large in size and it comes with attachment gear to the bottom of the TV (though I haven't tried fixing it). It has WIFI, Bluetooth, Optical cable, can play audio from phone through LG mobile app. The intelligent caliberator feature was good. The only set back I had is that the set does not come with surround speakers (which I assumed that it does at this price point) but still the large sound bar fills the entire living room with the volume. The sound effect and quality is awesome!

Easy set up. Works well with my new 82” Samsung tv. Didn’t want anything overly powerful for the room it’s in. Has plenty of power with 520 watts to get very load and still very clear. Bass from the sub is good enough. Presets are good but takes a bit of tweaking depending on the room with side speakers, up speakers and front speakers. The Bluetooth sub is great for that reason, no additional wires except power. Tried the sub in many places and ended up in a built in cove in the living room which definitely enhances the bass ( throughout the entire open plan 3500 sg. ft. House). I’m no sound professional but have heard better systems, but they come with a price tag I didn’t need to go to for this living room. The app is nice and with google assistant it’s fun to tell it what to play or look up. Does pretty good with low voice high action volume when configuring it for that. It definitely does not give you the full 360 degree souring sound but out of the box and no additional rear speaks does just fine for us. Wouldn’t buy it at it’s $1000 retail price for sure but got it on sale with an additional discount for bundle. THANK BEST BUY! Other than that it looks great and does the job. Be sure to consider the measurements, it can be mounted under tv if your setup is that way. Our tv is not mounted so it sits in front of tv. That said even with the 82” tv it is wider than the tv feet so it sits on the feet. (Added small stick on floor pads to feet of tv so there would be no vibration issues. Which works but leaves a small gap under... all good) again consider all your dimensions, researched other sound bar options that were much taller that would have blocked the bottom of tv and it’s sensors. This bar is pretty slim in height which is particular reason for purchasing for the above reason. Otherwise would recommend.

I replaced an older, failing receiver & 5 speaker surround sound. This sound bar sounds great. It is wide, so you’ll need to use it with a larger TV. I will add the wireless rear speakers soon. I kinda miss the true surround sound. I love the simplicity & looks of the bar. I do wish the sub woofer had a little more punch. All-in-all I am pleased.

Beyond impressed with this! This sound bar is a treat to my ears with nice and crisp highs and mids, and the subwoofer delivers the low end impact I was looking for. The sub doesn’t sound like a box that goes boom, it actually sounds like it can go through many low end frequencies and sound levels to make a fantastic impact on movies and games. The Dolby Atmos completely delivers as well as the side speakers to create a truly immersive experience. This is the soundbar that will immerse you into whatever you’re watching or playing on a gaming system. Listening to music sounds balanced, crisp, clean, and incredible as well.
The Google Assistant feature is a nice added bonus that I didn’t even care about at first. It wasn’t something I wasn’t looking for, but now that I’ve experienced it I think it is icing on top of the cake. I just returned my Sony HT Z9F and almost spent the extra $300 for the back speakers and kept it.
I’m so glad I returned it and spent that extra $300 for this soundbar. They don’t even compare and I was impressed with the Sony. It just didn’t have true Dolby Atmos. I noticed right away the sound quality on this LG is in a much higher quality level of its own. I went through three soundbar total before getting the SN9YG.
I tried out the Sony GT 700 and although it was nice and was lacking the dynamics and higher quality I was looking for. Before that I tried out the Vizio 5.1 $500 soundbar. Although impressive I couldn’t get around how the center channel didn’t sound clear to me. No matter what I tried to make it sound better it just didn’t satisfy my ears.
I would hands down recommend this product to anyone looking for a high quality audio experience for movies, games, and music. I’m really glad I was able to return my previous purchase and continue to try out other products until was happy as well. In the end I spent a lot more than I planned to, but it was necessary to get the experience and quality I was looking for.

We purchased this system to go with our LG TV. It has been absolutely wonderful the sound is great and the unit is very easy to use. LG also has an app you can pair with the soundbar to control remotely and fine tune the sound to your liking. The ATMOS feature siunds pretty good, but it depends on what you're watching. Its also important to understand how ATMOS works. It fires the sound upwards and is designed to reflect off the ceiling and back down towards you. There is a maximum height your ceiling needs to be and how far away you should be sitting for ATMOS to work properly. The subwoofer sounds great and has a good deep sound. We did have an issue where the subwoofer wouldnt connect to the soundvar anymore. LG troubleshooted the issue over the phone , but couldnt fix it. And as these things tend to happen, it occured about 15 days before yhe warranty expired. They eventually paid for the entire system to be shipped them and they fixed it under the warranty and send it back to us. We haven't had any issues since

I'm not a big audiophile, but this LG soundbar delivers great sound IMO. I purchased it along with my LG CX TV, and it's been a great combo so far. There are a few hiccups here and there... sometimes when I turn on the TV, the sound bar doesn't turn on, so I have to manually turn it on. On rare occasions, there's no sound, so I have to unplug the sound bar for it to work again. However, that issue is pretty rare... probably occurred maybe 3 times since I've had it in the beginning of 2021.

After two weeks, we just weren’t in luv with the sound bar.
Pros: It had plenty of volume, in fact more than enough. The bass was great. The subwoofer was heavy, clearly a quality piece for the price, and u really didn’t get that sloppy bass you get from the more affordable systems. Honestly I was very impressed with the subwoofer. You have plenty of option to change the treble, the bass, and other options for additional speakers as well. The Dolby atoms works great. The Virtual surround was done really well. The price was amazing. Normally $1000, but we got it on-sale for $699.99, and really, there wasn’t a better option for the money. If you have a larger room like we do, then a sound bar of this size is a must have as it’s about 4 feet long. Anything smaller can easily be underwhelming. I would have like to try out the new JBL 5.1 or preferably the 9.1, but they were unavailable.
The cons: It felt like I had to turn the woofer down quite a bit, and was constantly trying to improve the loudness of voice/vocals when watching tv/movies. It felt as if there was something missing in the middle of the sound bar, but couldn’t put my finger on it. I had seen other reviews where they had it hooked up incorrectly, so I had made sure that wasn’t the issue. My wife said she couldn’t hear the issue as much as I could, but I felt as if it should have had a bit more oomph. The other issue, was trying to change to night setting, and back to atmos the next morning. U have to use the required app to do so, but it wouldn’t allow the change while watching, unless I changed the input...?
For a better than entry level system, it’s pretty good. For the average person, this LG sound bar will knock your socks off and then some, especially for most people who don’t have a living room that is 24’ x 22’. Set up is fairly easy, looks great, and plenty, PLENTY of good sound. And, if u can get it at the sale price of $699 then it’s an even better deal. If you can’t, then I’d probably check out the JBL 9.1, or step up and purchase the Sonos Arc and Subwoofer.

The soundbar is very attractive and short enough can fit under most tvs, although it is quite large in depth. Setting up the bar was quite simple. Downloading the Google Home app and Lg WIFI Speaker app to set everything up was fairly easy. The Lg app sometimes couldnt find my soundbar but after a quick refresh it popped up.
The sound on the other hand needs to be loud to hear any atmos effect. Even then the affect really wasnt that good. so i wouldnt reccomend getting this for a smaller bedroom. The dialogue seemed to get lost quite a bit with dolby atmos enabled. The dialogue also sounded very "pitchy" at moments. It's not bad, but has a bit of a weird sound (maybe I just dont like LG's sound). Normal stereo sound on the other hand sounded pretty good. The Bass was good and was pretty powerful sounding. I just expected better sound quality, especially from the center channel which sounded like a cheaper speaker at times.
I tested the netflix internal app on my LG C9 with eARC enabled and they synced up flawlessly with the soundbar. The Biggest issue I had was Audio delay. I have my Xbox One X and PS4 Pro hooked up to the tv and the soundbar just getting audio sent to it through eARC. Enabling dolby atmos in the xbox menu gave a slight delay to the audio, causing sound to show up half a second later than what was happening on screen. I tried and swapped every setting I could with no avail. I even swapped hdmi cables around (even though I'm using 48gbps cables) and nothing worked. Maybe eARC just isnt that stable yet.
Overall the soundbar is decent, maybe it was my room layout, but the $899 price is a steep price for the sound quality I was hearing. I love LG TVs but maybe the sound bars just arent for me.

What can I say! I’m just blown away. Got this today, easy setup, once you download the Google assistant app, you can connect the WiFi. Pretty simple steps nothing that takes more than 10 mins to have it up and running. Now to the review. Once I plugged this into my nano 85 via ( hdmi 3 ) everything connect seamless as well. I played Xbox , I listened to music for several hours, and I just can’t stop listening to the music. It sounds Amazing! What a value for the price it is on sale at this time, it’s a steal. This bangs in a small room but I can see in a really large room, you might need the rear speakers. But don’t let that discourage the purchase. The audio quality is super crips and clean with the atmos feature. If you had any of the LG TV models with atmos, you will be blown away at the sound this thing outputs. I have been listening steady at volume level 10 and I’m scared to disturb the neighbors. Nice robust bass. Now my preference of sound choice Ofcourse is the standard option because you really hear what this thing has to offer paired with Meridian. But A I sound selections doesn’t sound bad either. Once you enable the surround setting, this thing comes to life with the top speakers and side speakers filling the room bouncing sound everywhere. I can’t lie. This is a must purchase! LG salute again to the great products. 5 star rating all day.
