I was seeking a new soundbar that was not a focal point of our home theater setup. Having used the Yamaha YSP-4000 with a Def Tech Supercube I thought I might have to buy the next YSP-5600 to achieve the new Dolby Atmos sound – the issue is the size. I bought the LG OLED C7P 65" and just wanted a solid sounding system. I purchased the Sony HT-ST5000 and tested for 2 days after setting all the parameters and downloading the software update - the wife and I could not achieve the best voice sound or subwoofer punch we had grown fond of the YSP/Supercube (I mentioned this in my Sony HT-ST5000 review on Best Buy). Upon returning the Sony soundbar I found out that the LG SK10Y was available that day and immediately purchased it (I listened to it at CES 2018). The sound bar is 57" long and fits perfectly below the C7P. I added a 12" shelf under the TV that allowed the Atmos top firing speakers to hit the ceiling. The setup was quick and installed the LG Speaker app on my phone and began to run the Dolby Atmos / Dolby Vision videos proving by the C7P. The base response from the 500w sub punched instead of rumbled and the voice from the SK10Y was perfect with the right amount of base (not tinny). I changed the sound fields on the SK10Y to ASC/Standard/Bass Boost etc. via the app and truly enjoyed the difference. The soundbar picks up when ATMOS is available and automatically sets the soundbar appropriately – nice. I soon wanted more sound so I went back to Best Buy and purchased the LG SPK8-S speakers for the full surround effect – are they required? – No – just a nice addition to use the surround feature on the LG Speaker app – that’s another review though. Well worth the $$$.

This sound bar looks amazing paired with my 65oled tv.
It's size may be intimating for some , but the sound quality I'd truely impressive.
Pair is with the LG TK10 stand and you have an ultra clean setup , looks like the tv is floating above the sound bar

I've had this soundbar for 3 weeks now. I've only ever purchased basic low-level soundbars in the past, so this was a huge upgrade. I downloaded the app and the set up was simple. I don't have the rear speakers yet, but I plan on getting them in the near future.
I have this paired with a 55" B7. First off, this soundbar is LOUD, especially with Dolby Atmos content. I just purchased the greatest showman 4K DVD with Dolby Atmos, and I truly feel like I'm in a movie theater, the sound and picture are both amazing. The bass blast and movie setting display sound through all of the speakers (front three, side two, and two overhead) while ASC, Standard and Music only display sound through the front left and right speakers. I prefer the movie setting when watching movies and tv shows. I use base blast with regular TV and music. I downloaded the Tidal music streaming app that plays back Hi-Res lossless audio. I use chromecast with the app and the sound is GREAT.
Overall, I'm happy with this soundbar and I would definitely recommend it.

Excellent soundbar, but not a surround replacement

I've had this soundbar for a little over a month now, and am quite pleased with it. I have it paired with an LG 65SK9000PUA TV ontop of our entertainment center. It was practically made for my TV. The legs from the TV slide perfectly into the grooves on the bottom of the soundbar, which allows it to sit further back towards the TV. It's also exactly the same width f the TV as well. In terms of sound, it's pretty good. It doesn't seem to give you the range that dedicated speakers would (highs, mids, lows) but does a good job of being the "Jack of all trades, master of none." Even after tweaking, it doesn't seem to be able to provide that fully-immersed feeling a true-surround sound system can, but comes quite close. There is an optional add-on to add two wireless-rear speakers, but given the price of this sound bar, it really would have been nice if they simply included them. It certainly would have differentiated them from the competition. But if you're like me, and you didn't want to have a bunch a speakers everywhere for Dolby Atmos, then this is what you want to get. One annoyance though, is the fact that you cannot hardwire the sub-woofer to the soundbar. It's exclusively wireless, and works in the 2.4GHz range, which may interfere with WiFi, so keep that in mind.
Overall, I am very happy with the sound bar, and enjoy the quality of the sound.

This sound bar is HUGE. Both in quality but also in size. I got this replace my old Sony 5.1 receiver system after I moved, because my new living room (a great room) does not have a back wall and it would be inconvenient to lay wires around the floor. The Dolby Atmos feature attracted me as I would have some pseudo rear sounds to make up for the missing speakers. Upon turning it on, it didn't take long to adjust the bass/treble to have excellent sound. The volume gets very loud and has a lot of presence. It automatically switches inputs if you have devices plugged directly to HDMI, otherwise it works as expected when hooked up via Optical cable. I could not get the ARC to work, but it may be due to my TV being a 2010 model, even though it has an ARC HDMI input. I do agree with other reviews that the sound is front heavy, and that the sound effects that activates the virtual rear speakers normally kills the voices, though I was able to get some good results as well.
The problem I encountered was regarding the sound bar size. My great room is mounted on a brick wall with an electric fireplace lower, and it has no mantle with shelf. The TV mounting plate was pre-installed and since I wouldn't be able to hang the sound bar directly from the wall due to the uneven bricks, I thought I'd just be able to hang the sound bar from the TV mounting bracket as it would still be way under the weight limit. However due to its weight (16 lbs) the sound bar brackets that I found were all bending backwards and the sound bar was tilting downwards. So be mindful of how you plan to hang this sound bar. If you can mount directly to the wall, you're probably safe, but it probably won't work with any brackets on the market.
I ended up buying a small sound bar for the great room, but I didn't return this, due to its quality of sound, instead I installed it on my basement living room where it's resting properly on the TV stand.

A big package with a huge sound

I have only had personal experiences with one other sound bar prior to this one, but this was a mind blowing experience. The LG SK10Y comes in a very large box and packs a huge punch. How large of a box? Let's just say that the delivery guy asked me where I wanted the pallet when he pulled up. That was a tad ridiculous for what amounts to a 40lbs package. If you are picking it up at the store, make sure you have the space to fit it in your SUV, Van, or truck.
Now, let's get to the good stuff. This almost 58" long soundbar didn't disappoint. There are several ways to connect the LG SK10Y to your TV, but my TV is a little older so I am using the optical connection. I can also use the Bluetooth and Chromecast options to play things from my phone and/or tablet too. From a sound perspective, every connection has performed well. Between the bar and the subwoofer, the music and movies that I have played have been amazing. This is also aided by several sound profiles. I have mostly used the Standard and Movie selections and I am very impressed with the clarity. The bass compliments the vocals and it doesn't sound like 2 separate pieces like some soundbars and subwoofers do.
Lastly, I had to resort to using a table to accommodate the size of this beast. However, the packaging does include the brackets to wall mount it. This will be a terrific piece to a home theater and could look real nice mounted on the wall beneath the TV. You can even round out your theater room or man cave with the rear speakers (SPK8-S). This is something I plan to do because the LG SK10Y will be a fixture in my man cave for quite some time.

I use this soundbar in conjunction with an LG tv. They were easy to setup and pair, but every couple of days the connection between the two devices will stop until I turn the soundbar off and then on again. Otherwise, the sound is very good. I originally expected to mount it directly under the TV, but this unit needs some clearance from things above it as the speaker are also on the top of the unit.

Directional sound works in subtle ways

The directional sound from Atmos works subtly, but is cool. I've noticed it more in horizontal situations and in video games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2. Rain can be heard overhead (the only vertical sound I've noticed) and if something is happening to the left or right, it definitely sounds like it.
Once or twice, I wondered "that's weird, where is that sound coming from." Then I realized it was the sound bar projecting it.
My complaints about this sound bar aren't really technical. I believe it's a fine system, which I purchased as a bundle with the LG C8 TV.
My thing is, I believe the sound on the TV is rich enough to get the job done. I live in an apartment and keep my TV or sound bar volume between 8-12.
My recommendation is yes, but it's conditional on remaining in the same ecosystem (an LG TV) and if you like to pump up the sound.

I really like this sound bar.
Like most expensive products I purchase, there’s always the “regret factor.” In this case, I have no regrets. The bar has met my expectations and even exceeded in some areas. The sound quality alone is amazing.
The Atmos isn’t as apparent as I would like but it is there, and I think my room isn’t the best for Atmos.
The main downside for me is the length of this bar. It’s something like 57” I believe. Hangs off my current stand.. tacky, I know.

I got a store model for a great deal a year ago and it's definitely worth it at that less than half the normal price. You do have to fiddle with the settings to get movies to sound right. The center channel gets lost and voices are hard to hear if you don't adjust it.
The app is useful and basic and I haven't had any problems with it.
Oh, and the built-in Chromecast audio functionality is pretty sweet. We get some good mileage out of that feature. It's too bad you can't default an audio profile per input source.

I have this paired with a 65" LG C8. The sound is amazing for a soundbar! The 1-dock for star is due to the price and the size. It is much larger than most soundbars; however, you are getting much more sound.

The highs and lows are great and the height sounds make it like you’re there whatever you’re playing or watching. Got this soundbar on a really great deal for under $250 and I I also picked up the rear speakers for an extra $100. My only complaint is that the sound bar doesn’t have DTS-X but it is an older model but I love it.

I don't even know where to begin with this sound bar. It might be last years model, but its still perfect. I have no complaints. Everything sounds so amazing on it, especially movies. If you can find one of these buy it because its so much cheaper then than the 2019 version, and you're getting almost the exact same quality.

We had our hearts set on Sonos surround system, until we saw we could bundle this surround sound with our LG tv. It was normally $1099, on sale for $250 off, and we got an additional $300 off for bundling with tv. Great surround system, and even happier with the $549 price!!!

I own the LG C7P 65" OLED and was looking for a soundbar that matched the screen size as to not dwarf the soundbar. This LG SK10Y is 57" long and fits perfectly below the screen - I built a 12" shelf below the screen so the soundbar ATMOS speakers can reflect off the ceiling properly. The bass is deep and punchy and the voice is not metallic sounding like some soundbars (subjective view). I installed the LG Speaker App and the setup was a breeze. The ATMOS isn't perfect on some movies in Netflix which requires changing some settings on the Speaker App - otherwise the Atmos sound really good. I also purchased the LG SPK8 surround speakers to add to the experience - not required but definitely a nice addition! The sound is amazing and am very happy with the purchase!

This system replaced and old surround sound. Our original sound bar did not meet our expectations. After several contacts with Geek Squad and store personnel, we had a total of 3 sound bars installed and am now getting a much better quality of sound from the system. This is definitely a different sound system that a true surround sound set up. I'll say yes on the "recommend to a friend" portion, but with definite explanations about the system.
