Impressive LG 55" QNED 85 Series TV: A Picture-Per

I purchased the LG 55" QNED 85 series, and I'm sincerely blown away with this TV. I also own an LG 65" OLED (E9), and the picture on the QNED is very close to the OLED; the picture quality is crisp, the colors are great, and the WebOS on this TV is super fast and easy to use (WebOS is my favorite out of all the television manufacturers).
If you're on the fence about this TV, don't be. Get it and try it out. I guarantee you'll love it. And no, I don't work for LG or Best Buy — it's just that this QNED surpassed my expectations, which is always a good thing. I hope this review helps. Take care!

So last tv I had was roku 40in…this is definitely not that. After a few mix ups at the store I was able to get the tv into an uber (dont recommend trying) and managed to set the tv up…was definitely anxious about the stand as it is two pieces of plastic holding up a 55in tv…started screwing it on with a butter knife as suggested by the employee and wound up buying a tiny philips. If you got dumped in the last year that was a toxix relation and had issues with your roku in part because of your ex I highly recommend this tv.

I've had this tv for a month now and as my first smart TV, I like it. The picture quality is very nice, but you're going to need something to output that quality to use it (blu-ray player/ high quality Netflix upgrade). I have a few issues with how some of the individual apps work, but the TV itself works great and has many options to play with for sound, picture, brightness and so on. I give it 4.5 stars because there is a ton of ads in apps and a few quality of life things that are hard to do such as changing certain settings that are easy to do with a computer are just missing here. Or I'm missing them... Overall, very nice TV

On the day my Mitsubishi 52” 120hz tv quit working I was very disappointed. After one year of owning this LG it was certainly a good thing to make the change. Picture quality is outstanding, colors are life like, and sports action is smooth and completely enjoyable. It is on a cantilever mount in the brightest room of the house where sunlight streams through the windows most of the day. On the old TV the picture became difficult to see under those conditions. No such problem with the QNED class 85. Bright colors and detailed black and white at all times. It is my first smart tv and I now understand why having a smart tv is such an advantage. Magic remote works great, plenty of inputs. I even have my N64 hooked up with a 4/3 converter to make the games look right. All in all I don’t know what else I would want in a tv that i don’t have in this model.

I was a bit sceptical before buying the tv as its a new technology. But i am quite suprised. Its good in even the brightest of the rooms. It has a very good dymamic range and contrast. Dolby vision works very well. Tv recognizes the the content and switches to hdr and dolby vision. Its a very good buy for the money.

Very clear picture.and the snd is clear and has full range of sound.I find a lot of new TV's have sound that drops off at the sharp and high pitch sounds, which leaves a bland muted tone. Not this LG TV!!!!

Tried one of the $399ish sets, it was washed out and didn't look good. Returned it and got this for more $$. Overall a nice TV (Got it on closeout for a decent sale price). Lesser current technologies do not display High Dynamic Range (HDR) very well. (Check out Consumer Reports). While this is far from top tier, its a nice lower, middle range picture, Just my opinion but i think most people would be satisfied with this set.

Giving 4 stars because I will use my Roku instead of the LG options. I’ll explain. I have always used my TVs with a receiver. The audio works great with a Roku also hooked up to the receiver via Arc. However audio doesn’t work at all if using any apps or LG Channels on the tv. Audio shows it is set to use the receiver (HDMI ARC) but it has no sound. Ultimately that is ok for me because I’ll just use the Roku like I always have and will use the Roku and Plex free channels as always… which leads me to the next negative- navigating the LG apps and channels etc is a complete nightmare. Insanely frustrating trying to figure out which buttons to use to get to anything or from one app or whatever to anything else. Be prepared to spend half your tv relaxation time getting mad at navigating. To add to the frustration it looks like Pluto has paid them to provide content that will work a few minutes and then stop to prompt you to download their own Pluto app. LG smart tv features is a huge miss.
Now as far as why I actually bought the tv: the specs. Wow I have been in the 1080 realm due to dragging my feet on an upgrade. I have a cheaper 4k in a bedroom but wow this thing here is in a league of its own. Everything is utterly amazing from the 4k, to the hdr, ai settings, etc. It is just absolutely phenomenal when it comes to picture, features, and performance. I’ll also mention that compared to my old tv the brightness and angle view is fantastic . Definitely buy this if you are like me and have no need for any built in TV functions.

Bought this open box, was a display model with 5k hours on it. I replaced my Sony x900h with this one (the Sony had formed multiple dark spots on the screen after 2 years, which Sony says it’s within their spec). If I can get more than 3 years out of this tv with consistent picture quality I’ll be happy. So far I’m really impressed with it at times, but other times I feel like I’m missing something. I can’t find the perfect settings for lower resolution shows/movies. Anything with dolbyvision looks flat out amazing on this tv, with very little tweaking needed. It really shines in darker scenes with highlights. But with low res content the image looks somewhat washed. There are so many picture settings that I’ve been experimenting with them one at a time. I’ve also found that some of the AI features (like ai sound) are good, and others need to be turned off. The enhanced picture settings, like motion smoothing, noise reduction and smooth gradation are more subtle and gradual than they were on the Sony, so they actually come in handy on 720 or 480p content. For gaming, this tv checks all of the boxes on Xbox series including 120hz, dolbyvision, and VRR, and has a useful gaming optimization screen. For sound, it’s more bass heavy and full, but the Sony has a better simulated surround sound option. I’ll take this tv with ai sound over having to worry about constantly switching settings depending on app or input. Finally, the remote is amazing. I had to buy one separately but it’s the best one I’ve used. You get voice control, a scroll wheel, and a pointer on the screen. I’d recommend this TV if you have a darker room, love gaming, and love watching 4K blu rays/4k digital movies. if you’re just a regular tv watcher (news, sports) I’d go for a tv that is highly rated for upscaling low resolution content.

The price of the tv combined with the mini LED tech is what prompted me to purchase it. I game a lot on the TV via PS5 and PC emulators. The TV picture is fantastic for gaming. Colors are bright and not overly saturated. There are many options to adjust to get your desired image. Watching movies and other entertainment also looks fantastic especially in 4K HDR. The blacks are impressive but it is far from the absolute blacks that OLED provide. The biggest problem I’ve had with this tv and haven’t been able to remedy is that subtitles or text over a black background do cause quite a bit of blooming. It was very frustrating and still is sometimes, especially while watching dark media. The only remedy I’ve found was to turn off the subtitles. I didn’t see any other review mention this.

Why are they collecting and selling my information
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
TV seems to be of decent build quality, remote is horrible (wand is way to sensitive to easily control) but the real problem is the data that you are agreeing to give them just to use the basic TV functions. To be able to use ANY of your streaming services you have to agree to let them collect, sell or use in any other way information you add, watch, search or review through tv and also link and collect data on any other connected device or on the same IP address. So, if you were to watch the movie "A Roman Holiday" they could sell to a travel company your name, IP address and email address to a travel company. If you were to watch a Youtube Video on side effects of a certain medication they could sell that data too. I realize that most smart tv's need to collect data but most allow you to turn off their ability to sell your data and/or limit the data that they collect. I called LG and they said that if you do not agree to all of the MANY agreements to let them use your data that you can not download new streaming apps or update ANY of the streaming app's already on the webos.
