    Affordable OLED that Delivers

We had an older M-series Vizio before purchasing this LG that began to have backlight problems after only 3 years. We decided to spend a little more on our next TV to avoid that issue again. I've always known how amazing OLED panels look, but they were never in a realistic price range for me (and most consumers, I think). We were on the fence between this OLED and a Sony LED tv. Both were the same price, but the Sony came with some additional goodies (i.e. high-refresh rate, brighter, etc.). Since we don't do much gaming on our TV, we went for the OLED. The LG A1 has seriously impressed. After a few weeks, we are still blown away by the contrast of the OLED. Pros: - TV is very thin and built well - LG webOS is very good, and their remote is amazing. I didn't know what I was missing until I got their pointer remote. It's like a mouse for your TV (reminds me of a wii remote). - The insane contrast makes even mundane scenes look amazing. The color also really pops. - 1080p content upscaling looks excellent. - For an OLED, the price is good value (assuming it holds up). - Viewing angles are perfect. You can sit anywhere in the room and see the content perfectly (benefit of OLED) Cons: - I wish the TV came in a slightly smaller size. 55in is nearly too big for our space, but we're in a unique scenario where we have to put it in a corner. - The TV doesn't get quite bright enough for really good HDR. This can also be an issue if you have lots of sunlight coming into your living room. It's never dark.... but it also doesn't get THAT bright. - Burn-in risk.... but this applies to all OLEDs. We don't watch any static content or content with static banners...so no issue for us. Overall, we're very satisfied with the TV. It's hard to see just how good OLED looks in a picture, but hopefully the photo helps. Crossing our fingers that it works much longer than our Vizio did.

I will preface this by saying I got a Geek Squad certified open box TV. I do love this TV, however, it does have significant lags - which I never experienced on my previous $250 TV. For >$1k, I expected better performance, less lagging between apps & the LG home interface is not the best designed UX. However, the picture quality is phenomenal & the build quality of the TV is great. I also like the “pointer” function on the remote. It is often more convenient than clicking through menus and I find it to be very accurate.

Only had my tv less than a month and still figuring out some interesting operating system things like the frequent upgrades. Will call geek squad to trouble shoot. With streaming the picture is as beautiful as in the store- especially with 4K shows/ movies. The sound is amazing without a sound bar but my living room is a modest size and it isn't needed. LG has its own streaming app and the picture quality is poor but it would be my wifi- still need to figure that out but overall for $1K price worth more $850 in my opinion. It took alot for me to switch from Samsung.

The picture is beyond words, and the Geek Squad were knowledgeable, patient and very professional. They showed me what it could do, and I am not computer savoy. Thank goodness my daughter was here and totally understood what they were talking about. I couldn’t be happier with the product, the installation or Best Buy service. I will always buy there 1st from now on.

I'll start with the cons. These are all pretty immaterial to me, but may be important for some folks. -The remote is not backlit. The feel of the remote and buttons doesn't lend to easy operation in the dark. -Menus were not designed for casual, non-tech folks. -The TV feels very delicate. It's 100% bottom-heavy, and the thin top half of the panel should be avoided. -Burn-in risk. This is more of a FYI for readers. The TV has mechanisms to mitigate this when it's left turned on and idle. Read up on burn-in, and take what you learn into consideration. The last thing you want is to have a TV of this quality experience burn-in. I realize there are better OLED sets out there, but for the price, it's just not fair that we have a set as good as the A1 available to us. This TV is the best we've ever owned. It's not even in the same realm of quality as any other TV we've owned. This TV is on a whole other level. The picture quality in 1080P is stunning. The picture quality in 4K is mind-blowing. The picture quality in 4K HDR is breathtaking. Colors are crisp, rich, and accurate. Sharpness and contrast were perfect out of the box; no adjustment was necessary. If you see this TV in demo mode in store, know that what you see is what you get. The quality you see in demo mode mirrors the quality you'll see during actual use. I've seen several reviews mention that the TV is lacking in brightness. Brightness is sufficient enough to continually trigger my indoor camera's motion sensor...even during the day. We have this TV in our generally well-lit living room, and there is no indication of reduced brightness. Sound quality is top-notch, considering that the speakers are 20W. So far the built-in AI sound has worked well for us. Some movies have been a bit too loud, but that's not the fault of the TV. Lows are adequate, and highs are crisp. If you're placing this in a larger room, a sound bar may be a nice addition. Sound will be automatically adjusted based on TV placement (wall-mounted or on the included legs), which is kinda nice. Available connections are adequate. A 4th HDMI port would've been nice, but 3 ports is probably sufficient for most people. Component and Composite connections would've also been a nice "just in case" addition, but it is 2022 and I can understand why they're omitted. The 2 USB ports are great. In testing them, they were able to play files in mkv and avi format. The coax input is great for folks like me who watch OTA channels from time to time. The TV picked up 96 OTA channels in out area; about 20 more than our previous TV. We have the TV wall-mounted. The 300x200 spacing was unusual to me, but given how the TV is built, I understand it. The swivel mount we used had spacers that were able to accommodate. The TV's mounting holes accommodate for longer screws, so there's a bit more peace of mind when placing it on your wall. The TV's extremely low-profile makes for a very clean and sleek wall-mounted look.

    My first OLED

The TV is elegantly displayed and surprisingly built very sturdily though it is mostly glass thin. The most noticeable thing when unboxing the TV was the thinness of the screen and how LG has found a way to shrink the electronic component footprint on the OLED TVs. The screen is impressive to look at out of the box, and once you have it powered on, it's just jaw-dropping. Everyone who has seen this TV in my home has mentioned it makes you feel like you're immersed in whatever is on the screen. The OLED technology is impressive, and LG seems to keep things exciting in their OLED lineup. As a person who loves movies, video games, and sports, this TV has made me enjoy all my old movies again with its 4K upscaling ability. As for hardware mounting compatibility, the TV includes 2 feet if you choose to use it on a stand, or it can mount on a VESA compatible bracket. The remote control is a slightly revised version of the traditional LG bracket remotes. Though it looks like more of a traditional remote, it still has the pointer on-screen feature support. The built-in sound is nice and can be enhanced by connecting to a Bluetooth soundbar or a surround sound setup. With the ARC HDMI support, this TV provides an enjoyable visual and audio experience. Below are a few things wish it had and highlights I'm enjoying. I wish it had: -One more HDMI port for a total of 4 -Having the vesa mounting holes a bit more center of the screen and not near the bottom. Highlights: -The colors are amazing -Game mode -Setup was simple

O-M-G ! This is the best TV ever ! First, the picture is awesome. Sometimes it looks like 3D, like it's coming out of the screen. They give you 4 different ways to change the channel. Someone put a lot of thought into the way the remote is set up - it's so easy to use. One thing I found by accident is there is a thumbwheel in the middle of the remote and you can change channels with it as slow or as fast as you want ! Sound quality is very good. My last TV had such bad sound output that a soundbar and equalizer could not give you decent sound - it was a Toshiba 50 inch. It has a button to give you a menu of over the air channels letting you find what you want quickly. We mainly use a giant antenna for most of our channels and get 84 stations with this and the channel search is quite fast. My mom bought a 50 inch QLED Samsung and it sucks. The remote is hard to use and you had to pair the remote with the TV just to use it. Oh, and the voice command function is great - it understands every word I say and is quite smart in knowing what I want to do. You will love this TV !

This TV is amazing in the color reproduction and when watching pretty much anything so Im happy with that. Theres a few cons though that are worth mentioning: 1. The tv remote isnt really usable at night since its not backlit, so you will have a hard time using it if you dont remember the button layout. 2. This TV lacks HDMI 2.1 i believe and has a 60hz refresh rate in the sake of being budget friendly- this however does not reflect in price as LGs older OLEDs have both of these features for $1249.99, 48 inches, as a best buy member vs $1,399.99, 55 inches, for this TV on sale. I only bought this TV vs the older model because I was able to pick it up sooner, and the larger size. (Global chip shortage is a pain in 2021) Other than those two gripes this TV was an amazing buy, will probably use it extensively.

I wanted to hold off on writing a review for this tv until we had it for about two weeks, just so we can get a feel and some real time use of it. This tv is easily the best tv I have ever owned. The colors, brightness, darkness, and overall ease of use made switching from a 43" tcl 3 series 4k tv relatively simple. Even the base speakers sound pretty good! It brings our living room together and makes watching movies, sports, or YouTube videos a fun experience. I am not too worried about image burn, as the tv itself has a neat idle screensaver that changes after a certain time. If you want a good entry OLED TV at a decent price, grab this when it's on sale, like I did.

Great tv. Amazing picture quality. The colors just pop!!! Can't believe the black levels. Love the frameless look to the screen. Easy to wall mount. Easy to set up. Would recommend to anyone looking to buy an oled tv. This model refreshes at 60hz, which worked for me as it eliminated the " soap opera effect" when put in film maker mode. Other oleds that refresh at 120hz were still hard to watch for me.

Fantastic OLED, and while it has less gaming features than the C1 and CX series, it's far and above greater than any LCD offered today. OLEDs have consistently been better across just about every metric. We had originally bought an Q6 Samsung tv, but we ended up with lots of movement artifacts and blur after calibrating color. It just couldn't handle darker scenes (and that's separate from worse blacks, as you'd expect). This LG A1 Series checks all the boxes and comes in less than other OLED offerings that only provide a few additional features. If you're upgrading a TV and just want a great picture. If you're comparing against QLED/LCD in this price point, select this one! - You can't go wrong here!

This TV was easy to set-up right out of the box. The picture quality is outstanding to this non-professional and is loaded with smart tv apps. However, I use an Apple TV for streaming and kicked my cable. The "blacks" are really good, reminiscent of the plasma tv's. The viewing angle is very wide also, meaning you have a great picture no matter where you sit in the room. Love this TV!
