I've had a Panasonic Plasma TV for years and didn't like ANY LCD TV on the market to date. With the Exception of OLED, all television sets produced are LCD TV sets designed to confuse the average consumer. I.E. LED, QLED are LCD based television sets, they all require a back light to illuminate the panel and while they have some advantages, I've been consistently disappointed with the refresh rates, off angle viewing and lack of true blacks.
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) is the best technology you can get, it doesn't get any better than this, in fact it's basically the same technology used in Samsung's Galaxy phones, of course Apple is finally catching up with the iPhone X....I won't even go there.
This TV is well worth the extra money you'll spend because the picture and sound is nearly perfect (even better) when compared to a Plasma display.
I love all the features of this set, there are so many, I couldn't possibly list all of them. The Web OS is great as it gives you access to so many apps, not just Netflix and Amazon, again too many to list.
For the best picture, be sure to turn of Trumotion, this will give you the "soap opera effect", basically it makes the image look unrealistic and overly processed. Many manufacturers have different names for this technology, but they all make (in my humble opinion) the picture look cheesy.
You could spend hours calibrating the picture, I've found that the Preset Bright room expert mode is the best. I've tried tweaking and fine tuning different settings and the result is a less than desirable picture. The good news is that if you do adjust a setting and you're unhappy with the results, you can always revert back to the default setting. I also like the option to apply the picture setting to all inputs, again this is just my personal preference.
Some reviewers have stated they needed an additional sound bar, which is understandable if you want true depth and clarity, but I'm quite content with the capable speakers built into the lower part of the TV.
As for the cons, OLED technology of this caliber is still somewhat new, hence the expense and possible issues down the road. This type of display can develop burn in over time, best advice, don't leave a still image on too long. I've also read that LG has horrible customer service as well. This is why I opted to get the geek squad extended five year warranty.
I've viewed some 4k content from Netflix and it looks fabulous, but I'm holding off on a 4k player right now because of the expense and lack of movie titles available. Watching 1080P HD is just fine or i'll use my blu ray player for the time being.
So the only issue I have is intermittent and highly annoying which is why I deducted one star. I have Xfinity here and on occasion I've been getting snow (yes snow) along with an on and off flicker. I don't believe the issue is with Xfinity, if I turn off the TV, then back on, the problem goes away.
If anyone else has had this issue please let me know!
Other than that problem, this is money well spent and you won't be disappointed.

I fell in love with this TV instantly. I am a huge gamer and was looking for a display that was bigger than a monitor but with low latency and really clear images for a TV; this was it. The C series of Tv's were designed with gamers in mind. I plan on upgrading to the CX. the only issue I had was I left a still image on my TV for several hours (fell asleep while playing a game). I completely understand that this was my fault, but when I called Geek Squad to come take a look (I had purchased the extended warranty) and they saw the burned image I had in the Tv, they said that it wasn't "bad enough" for the warranty to fix it. It is just very frustrating that I purchased the extended warranty that clearly states that covers still / shadow images. I am not saying that the warranty is not worth it. I personally feel with larger purchases like this, the warranty is always a good idea. I just wish that they would have attempted to fix the TV. I attached an image of the burn, in my review. I circled the burned image in red.

I LOVE this Tv. Even the really old DVD's I have are crisper. I thought I wanted larger, but went for this because of the $, and I'm glad, because in a normal size house, this is plenty. The only down side was a simple HDMI set up to my computer took a bit to figure out..but I did, and now it is fine. The remove is very intuitive, so generally it is simple to use. The colors- well, my last TV was a sony and it didn't come close!!

Right out of the box with minor adjustments a great tv. Voted by most reviews: CNET, DigitalTrends as best tv of 2017. It’s not cheap, not perfect but awesome picture, perfect blacks & webOS is very intuitive. Have had a month & love it.

I was replacing a Sony 2016 model 930D which had developed picture trouble. Best Buy gave full store credit to use choosing a replacement. I compared the 2017 Sony 930E to the LG OLED55C7 and decided to purchase the LG. It does not have the top rated light output of the Sony, however its color fidelity is outstanding. Once I adjusted the colors and brightness using settings recommended in LG user forums I was able to dial in the TV to great results. The picture for 4K DVD's and Streaming in 4K via Amazon Prime is exceptional. Sports, particularly NHL is as clear a picture as I have seen on any TV. I am very pleased with this purchase.

I have only had this LG 55 OLED for about a month. Works great, picture is fabulous. I bought an open box so it didn’t come with the Instructions. Very easy to set up and hung it myself. I bought an LG sound bar that works good with it.

I wanted to up grade my older tv in my man cave that was over10 years old and reviewed the oled 4K’s for almost 6 months before deciding on this wonderful LG.
I love movies and watching sports and wanted a tv that would work well in both
those areas and this one does the trick at a very good price.
While watching movies it is sometimes disappointing that things are too clear and you see the movie as a closeup play with the people being viewed with their little imperfections that you don’t even see in the movie theater because this screen is so clear, or cheesy props being used in a scene.
Sports are more fun to watch and I have not found anything to complain about with this model.

This is not a backlit set. Pixels turn on and off so this is nothing you ever seen before. Takes some getting used to but what a beautiful realistic looking picture. Compare side by side in store to be sure this is for you. I think your going to love it.

The OLED technology is the best thing to come around since the Pioneer Plasma Kuro and Best Buy is maintaining their Black Friday pricing for the moment so grab one!

The tv started out fantastic but here we are less than two years later and the screen has terrible burn in and the middle of the screen shows items that should be yellow as green. This is a really bad situation given the TV is under 2 years

Major Panel Issues, Permanent logos, lines, blotch

Literally 3 days after my extended warranty expired. I noticed a logo on the bottom right of the screen from a channel I may have watched once. Then when switching inputs a colored screen appears randomly which is purple and it shows lines, and a box like blotch in the middle of the screen. I went online to troubleshoot on the LG site and mentioned a test for panel problems. There are random colored screens which show any burn-in or image retention. On a white screen, it looks clear and bright. When it gets to yellow, red, purple and green burn in is evident and even has what looks like an clock or large gear silhouette and a stick figure on the screen permanently. After further research the exact TV, OLED55C7P had a panel issue and LG would sometimes replace the panel out of warranty for a defect. I am now going through their customer service to attempt at getting this finally resolved, but it seems they are not excited to help me at all. Initially, when I asked Bestbuy about the issues with the screen prior to the warranty expiring, they asked me if it was my first OLED, which it was. They said what I was talking about was completely normal and that it was called image retention which would automatically dissipate through normal use. That day a few months later when I noticed that the images from months ago were still showing when certain colors were on the screen, I also saw the center of the TV was dimmer...like a football shaped area which was gray-ish while the rest of the picture looked fine. This was exactly what the tech gurus described and showed pictures of for the panel problem. Hopefully this frustrating issue will be resolved by LG because Bestbuys response actually caused me to miss the warranty deadline. I was even an Elite member and every I went to the store after to try and get it resolved, I was told there was nothing they could do since it was normal. Here's hoping for a resolution this year...until then I won't be spending a dime in Bestbuy or with LG.

The Best 55" OLED 4k TV

I held on to an aging Vizio 37" 1080p TV for almost 10 years. As I waited TV's got bigger and better. First 4k, then HDR, then new sound technologies beyond 5.1 surround. Towards the end of 2017 I felt ready for an upgrade.
I knew I wanted the following:
-4k
-HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision)
-Dolby Atmos
-OLED
-55" or more
I did quite a bit of research. It seemed the big names in OLED are LG, Samsung and Sony. My past experiences with Sony and their tendencies to go walled garden (proprietary tech) made me eliminate them as a consideration right away. I also am not a big fan in Samsung, as I feel they tend to get away with over charging because of their brand.
I know a couple people with LG TV's and have gotten to see first hand WebOS, the picture quality and build quality of these TV's. My own research led me to find the C7 series and that the majority of reviews online pointed to the LG C7 being the best OLED TV's.
I was tempted to go for the 65" C7, but at the time it was $1,000 more. Ill get back to this in a moment...
I also had never had more than the TV speaker audio and knew I wanted something more immersive. Sound bars caught my eye due to their simplicity but after hearing some friends soundbars, it wasnt the surrounding, cinematic experience I wanted. Sure it was better than TV speakers, but any that supported Atmos were way too expensive.
While the TV speakers support some form of Atmos (and it is noticeably better than other TV speakers) it still would not have been enough. I figured a budget of about $750 for a receiver and speakers would give me what I wanted. Long story short, I bought a Onkyo TX-NR676 Receiver with Onkyo SKS-HT594 speakers (5.1.2) which ended up being a hair above $750 from another seller. I am blown away by the sound.
So back to my starting point regarding the 65" C7. In my mind the extra 10" wasnt worth +$1,000 compared to the 55" C7. Especially when for less than just the 65" C7 I got the 55" C7 with a 5.1.2 sound system and 4k Blu Ray player (LG UP970 had a $30 off combo deal ($209 after deal) with the TV's). Your needs may differ.
The picture is phenomenal. There are a ton of sites out there with calibration settings to get the most out of it, but I do not think there is a whole lot to gain over the built in settings.
WebOS is easy to use, has a great app selection, and is fast. The settings and menu on the TV are easy to navigate and set, however I found it hard to find good documentation or sources online with details about specific settings.
The remote the TV comes with is great, easily the best remote i've ever seen a TV come with...however if you use a receiver and are going to need to control at least 2 other devices you will need a universal remote. The included remote can do TV and 1 other device on each HDMI input, but if your using a receiver most recent ones take all the source inputs and output via 1 hdmi to TV (and TV returns audio to receiver via ARC on same cable). So for example I could set the remote to do TV and Verizon STB...OR...TV and Receiver, but not both as I was only using HDMI 2 on the TV (all hdmi to receiver, and 1x hdmi to TV from receiver).
I solved this with a Logitech Harmony Elite remote which works really well with all my gear. Highly recommend considering a harmony remote.
Ive played HDR and Dolby Vision content from 4k BD, Netflix, Amazon and Vudu and it all looks awesome using the apps built into the TV.
The only issue I have is actually with the LG UP970. It constantly turns itself on and inputs switch to it (likely because of HDMI-CEC) disrupting other content. For example when leaving an app to go to another app or back to Verizon STB, the BD player turns on and input changes to it. As best I can tell this is a catch 22 for me as the BD player doesnt have its own setting to disable HDMI-CEC and while the TV and receiver do have settings to turn off HDMI-CEC they are required to get HDMI ARC (essentially what returns audio from my TV when using built in apps to receiver). So I cant disable CEC on the player since theres no option for it and it would prevent audio disabling on other devices.
My biggest concern going into this was lack of 4k content. 4k Blu Ray and services like VUDU seem to be the best choices right now. While Amazon and Netflix offer some 4k content they do not make it easy to find. Even when you find it there isnt a guarantee you will get 4k. I have 150Mbps internet, constantly test in the range of 120-170Mbps...and still often find Netflix providing 480/720/1080 content. Amazon is a bit better, after a minute or 2 4k programs will show 4k. However finding the content is still a pain.
There is enough content for now to enjoy and 1080p content looks good. I am sure 2018 will see a surge in 4k material.
In ending I would highly recommend this TV for someone seeking a 55" OLED TV at this time.
