I just purchased this TV a couple weeks ago, I gotta say, like most of the people who reviewed it...I feel the same way...the picture on this Set is absolutely stunning! This is why we buy a new big screen TV!!! Superior contrast, deep blacks, HDR capable, Dolby Vision, HLG and the list goes on... this TV is Loaded with all of these great features and is one of the best looking TVs I have ever seen! Well worth the price of admission.

Total pleased with my purchase of the LG OLED65C8PUA 4K HDR TV. Received on Saturday and after slight assembly, was able to easily setup the TV. Watched a couple of 4K BluRays. The picture quality is awesome. So much detail and because this is an OLED, the blacks are truly black. Black Panther has some dark scenes and detail was really good. Also streamed Guardians of the Galaxy from Netflix and the picture quality was fantastic. I considered buying the E8 which has better sound and aesthetics, but settled on the C8 since I have an AV receiver and the C8 looks fine to me. Saved $800 since C8 was on sale. Totally recommend. BTW, we have a Samsung 4K 8000 series TV that is less than 2 years old. While the Samsung has a great picture, the LG OLED blows it away.

This TV is by far my favorite perchase..
The clarity on this Oled is insane!! The deep blacks Oleds brings really makes a difference and the sound that it delivers is second to none imo.. The magic remote is very good just wish that it was backlight.. Other then that I would have to say this TV is almost perfect! My sours is Direct TV HD 4k and Xbox gaming...

I’m on day four with the television and if it’s possible to have expectations exceeded on a television in this price range this one has done it for me. As impressive as the demonstration videos shown in the store nothing compared to my first movie in UHD (Black Panther) … my television is paired with the LG UBK90 Blu-Ray player and the LG SK10Y Sound Bar … the quality of the movie picture was amazing and while my rear speakers haven’t arrived the sound bar alone produced some very impressive sound.
I was a little worried about how the picture would hold up for non-movie viewings … meaning when I didn’t have the lights down and/or there might be light coming in from the window. Although mine is set-up in a basement there’s still a good sized window with southern exposure that even with the blinds drawn can let in a fair amount of light during the day (and it’s straight across the room opposite the television). My experience has been reflection and/or bright lighting within the room have not taken away from the picture quality for me.
I’ve so enjoyed the picture quality that it’s sent me in search of more opportunities to watch shows in UHD w/Dolby Vision … so I paid the extra $3 to up my Netflix and jumped back into season three of Daredevil … a total game changer … with my old television I always felt that show was filmed too dark and now I see it was probably just my television as the UHD is perfect and the sound is amazing for a television show. I’ll definitely be looking to find more Netflix shows that are also upgraded in both sound and visually.
I’ve ready a lot of negative reviews on the Magic Wand remote it comes with … while it’s taking some time to get used to and will never replace my TiVo remote as my primary for watching regular TV once it’s configured and you start to get the hang of it I’ve found it great for Netflix and movie watching. Got rid of my Harmony remote (of course it also helps that my TV/BR/SB combo are all LG products so they all work together very nicely – previously using a home theater receiver and multiple components the Harmony remote was needed to try and reduce clutter and turn on or off necessary components based on what I was wanting to do).

Did my research on LED vs OLED and decided to go with the new tech. This tv outperfomed my every expectation. After mounting the tv to the wall it was a breeze to setup and use. The Netflix and Amazon buttons on the remote are so handy. I also PURCHASED th LG sound bar and 4k Blue ray player and the tv automatically recognizes them. Well worth the extra to get the best tech!

This TV is just amazing. The infinite contrast you get is the dream of plasma realized. It is incredible what a difference true black makes in almost any image. I no longer have a need for a bias light. The image simply floats in a blacked out room. The infinite contrast helps with the slightly darker highlights in HDR. Specular highlights still pop out and sparkle.
I love this thing.
The UI is great. It handles CEC very well with my receiver. The apps are great. They are all very responsive. There is no HBO app, but I resubscribed through Amazon, which is a minor inconvenience. At least the amazon app works will on this TV. You'll definitely want to use the WebOS apps instead of a stream so you can take advantage of the built in screensaver. This is an OLED people.
Playing with my playstation 4 took some settings tweaks to get something that looked great and didn't create a burn in risk. The BFI works very well, but is somewhat dim. I don't turn it on with games HDR games that don't need a hud, like God of War and Red Dead 2. I definitely will turn the BFI on for games like Apex and BFV.
Just lovin' this thing--I'm in heaven. Finally an upgrade from my trusty Samsung f5300 plasma.

I never thought a TV could be too dark. This comes close, but it is everything I hoped for and more. I watched the Jack Ryan series in 4K and there were some scenes that nearly take your breath away. I have also been very impressed with the higher quality titles from Netflix They've nearly eliminated all of the issues with the "Soap Opera Effect" and although a few times you can still remember you are on 4k and see the result, most of the time you just feel like you're living in the movie or show.
My one issue with this TV is that it doesn't do as well with Football as I'd hoped. I bought this TV for movies, so I can't belittle it at all. Football looks great when you are far enough away, but the size is big and so if you are at a standard distance, the colors and players just don't do as well as they do on a smaller screen. I did not try any adjustments with sharpness so that might help, but I did try every possible built-in picture. Please don't take this the wrong way - the TV is still fantastic, but my 42' 4k LG at the same distance looks better for football.
One last thing: The warnings about breaking by pinching, etc, raised my anxiety to new heights, and the initial setup where the thing says to lay it flat freaked me out beyond belief. The TV did fine, but if you don't want to feel that kind of anxiety, pay to have it mounted. Also, make sure you put the foam inside the box so that it holds it's full shape - you have to have that space off the floor if you are installing the stand.

This TV is just stunning. The blacks are amazing. Play some 4K content and it will make you say Wow! Normal cable is ok, but I expect that. Your picture is only going to be as good as the source. I put on Altered Carbon on Netflix ultra hd and it was amazing. I am very happy with this purchase.

Quite a stunning screen! The largest TV I owned prior to this was 32" which I thought was amazing as well. But this is TV viewing on a whole other level! The immersive sensation in this beautiful 65" LG was at first kind of jolting; movies seen again after 100s of times are like viewing them on the set where they were filmed. But, bad acting is more noticeable as is continuity, or movie quality. If other brands of large HDs or non-OLEDs share these qualities, I do not know.
Lots of other HDs I've seen or owned left me indifferent as to digital being an improvement to analog, especially when watching sports. For example, as a camera pans with a sprinting football receiver, the background becomes distractedly distorted. This TV minimizes that greatly.
The Magic Remote works great and is intuitive as well as is the Smart TV interface.
Only concern I have is that the top half of the TV is so thin. .375" tops! Kinda cool, but what if after years of being tilted forward on the wall mount the top half of the TV starts to curl forward?

The picture on this TV is spectacular! I'd really rate this 3 1/2 stars. The price is quite high. The "smart TV" functions are way behind that of Sony (which uses Android TV) and Samsung. There are only a few apps available for this TV. Luckily most of the major ones are there. It's also really strange that the Amazon Video app doesn't play movies in 4k. I'm also concerned with burn-in. I've only had it for 2 months, but no issues with burn-in so far.

This is a tv with amazing picture quality and decent sound. I replaced a less than 2 year old Sony because the Android TV made the set so unstable that it would reboot by itself at times and go into wired picture modes by itself , requiring a manual reboot. This tv has perfect blacks, easy to manage picture and other settings. It is also very stable with no OS “hiccups”. Haven’t used the apps since I use Roku, Apple TV , and TiVo Bolt OTA. 4 k sources are incredible, and up conversion of OTA sources work really well. Some shows that are streamed do some weird atifacting in shading but appears to be restricted to only some shows and services. ( Hulu appears to be a culprit)
The off axis viewing is great after dealing with LCD. No loss of PQ at all at any angle. Magic remote is nice but to keep system useable for wife(read technophobe) I had to go back to my Harmony Elite remote.

This is an outstanding TV. Beautiful picture and color. I'm sure plenty of reviewers singing its praises. Few things that are not ideal and are maybe personal preference. The little arrow pointer can be a bit annoying. Pops up and sometimes you feel you have to work at getting it in the right spot. Then it vanishes and you have to hit the center wheel to get it back. Minor thing.
Biggest issues are Sonos connectivity which was a real pain and needed searches on the net to come up with a solution to get it to finally work. Then was the worry of burn in. For our watching it was not ideal as watch a lot of older programs that required zooming the picture to fill the screen and thus losing some of the picture and distorting the image. Then having to reset it when we watched the next program. Also, we bought the 65 inch. Pay close attention to the room size and your average watch distance. If you are standing in the showroom and right in front of the TV the picture is unbelievable. If you are a good distance away in your room you loose some of the effectiveness. Be sure to measure your room so you can see what that distance looks like when viewing the TV in store. I'd recommend getting the biggest TV you can so you can really take advantage of that great picture. Please keep in mind though that you are looking at amped up 4k picture in store. Regular TV etc will look great, but not as good as 4k demos in the store

Did a ton of research on this purchase, and now that it's finally in the living room, I'm completely satisfied. First of all, after a bit of a runaround, got a great price-match at Best Buy. Unboxing and setup took about 15 minutes. Attaching the base is easy and well-explained. Setting the TV onto the stand is definitely a two-person job. Looks fantastic. Had extended family over for Christmas and got all positive comments. Amazing picture - words can't really describe the OLED screen. Magic remote is a nice addition, but wish it was able to control my Sonos Playbar (remote is RF only and Sonos requires IR). Vudu app crashes when playing HDR - Dolby Vision content, but that's a documented problem (search online). Works fine using my ChromeCast Ultra. Perfectly satisfied with the purchase!

I purchased the OLED65C8 on May 28th, 2018.
Appearance: It looks cool as expected for a technology in 2018. The TV is 4.6 cm thick. I’m using a super-slim wall mount with the TV that puts the surface of the screen at only 7.7 cm from the wall.
Picture Quality: The Perfect Black feature is amazing. Color contrast is great on this TV. There is some graininess in some colors like red and blue-skies with 4K content (4K disc and 4K Blu-Ray player, AudiQuest Sky HDMI cable). The colors look sharp and vibrant, but they don't look real, so I'm going to order a TV Calibration. I used to have the poor-quality OLED65W7, which had T-Con board burn out twice following which it crashed completely. Compared to last year’s wallpaper model OLED65W7, the picture quality of the C8 is very close and hard to notice differences. I know professional reviewers have tools to measure minor differences, but I don’t see any noticeable difference with the naked eye.
Smart assistants: The Google Assistant works fine. Amazon Alexa sometime doesn’t work when I ask Alexa to change a channel, but turning TV off works fine.
Sound Quality: Speakers on the TV produce very poor-quality sound, so they’re not meant for use with an expensive OLED. LG wants us to use a sound bar because the internal speakers are so poor. I use my 5-speaker Bose Lifestyle 650 system.
In summary, the picture quality is great, but my TV needs a TV calibration. There is room for picture-quality improvement in future models.

The picture is very clear and colors pop! Content in 1080p looks as if it is 4K, just because of the OLED effect. The infinite contrast really makes it nice for dark scenes. Dolby vision and Dolby atmos work great also!

We debated for a month on which new SmartTV to purchase. I researched many TVs and figured I would not be disappointed with an OLED TV. We already have an older 65" Samsung SmartTV, that we were not too happy with. (The black colors on the TV are very pixelated.) Upon deciding to get a new TV, we really wanted a 70". Apparently that's not an option with the big brands. They seem to jump from 65" to 75"-77".
Taking the size into consideration, we were looking at either the Sony X900F 75" or the LG C8 65". Both were/are around the same price. We went with the LG because it seemed we would have less of a chance of regretting our decision.
We definitely do NOT have any regrets. What a TV! The picture is so awesome. Every color, including black, are just so crisp and clear. We have a large great room, where the TV is mounted on the wall, and the 65" is plenty big. (Just an FYI... we stream all our shows, including YouTube TV for local channels.) I know purchasing this TV is a big decision, because it's a lot of money. If you can afford it, this TV is worth the price.

This TV is as good as the rumors. The blacks are unbelievable. As a result, the colors are so vivid and life like. I wish I could but two! The sound is surprisingly good for TV speakers. Decent bass and clarity. I like how you can custom label your inputs. I could do that on my old Sharp and glad I didn't lose that functionality. You may have to tweak your settings based on the room you have it in but there are websites out there that can point you in the right direction. There are a LOT of options for your settings so, take your time and do it right. You will not be disappointed!

I won't rehash what's been said by all of the professional and Best Buy reviewers so I will try to be informative and keep it short.
I purchased this set coming from a well reviewed LCD.
-Much nicer viewing angles- no more sitting in front for best picture
-Speed. OS is fast, reacts to commands almost instantly
-Sound is surprisingly good for tv speakers
There are LCD's that are great as well and in the end it came down to viewing angles and those absolute blacks. I now feel like I have the best tv on the market, and by almost all the reviews I've read, it is.
