Let me start off by saying that I spent weeks researching which TV I wanted to purchase that was affordable, yet had an outstanding viewing experience and great features.
This obviously isn't an OLED TV, but man, this TV does not fall far behind. I think this TV is absolutely outstanding and I am so happy with my purchase. I was fortunate enough to buy this 65" 4K TV while it was on sale, & I am not disappointed with it at all. I was having issues at first with the brightness on the screen because it was so dim and was hard to see, but I figured out that there was an energy saving setting turned on and once I turned it off, it was incredible. It was so much more beautiful, defined, and brighter. I was contemplating on returning the TV if there wasn't anyway for me to change the low brightness and dim lighting, but now that I turned off that setting, this TV isn't going anywhere! I am beyond pleased with the graphics, quality, & even the sound. I think it has fantastic speakers for just a TV alone. This is my first SmartTV so I don't have anything to compare it with, but I absolutely love the webOS software. It is very versatile & is very fun to play around with. I like that I can go from being on the internet, to watching Hulu, to watching DIRECTV straight from my TV, without having to connect an external device. It is so easy to navigate. I also love the magic remote that it comes with.
Overall, I am in love with my new TV & it is superb for the price. If you are looking for an affordable TV with amazing graphics & a lot of features, this is the TV for you. I am extremely picky & it was so frustrating to find the right TV to please my expectations, but I am so thankful I chose this one. ☻

- The magic remote works kind of like a laser pointer, you can point it at your TV and waive it around like a Wii remote and a little cursor will appear for you to click on things, it's awesome!
- The smart tv interface is very nicely designed and easy to use.
- Of course the picture (4K HDR) looks great. Also I chose this tv bc it has a tiny bezel. The buttons are hidden on the bottom under the logo.
- the sound on this tv is excellent. We got a $500 JBL Cinema 450 soundbar and we still will switch sound between our tv and the soundbar based on what we're watching bc the TV's sound is so good.
- It has 4 HDMI ports and one of them has ARC for the soundbar.
Cons:
I really can't think of any cons off the top of my head. I've owned this TV for a few weeks now.

Purchased the TV when on sale hoping that it would be a decent mid level television. After using the TV there was noticeable issues with the local dimming feature as well as the tones of the blacks on the screen. The T.V. showed decent color and brightness as long as you were not watching anything even a little dark or anything that has borders on it like some movies. After a few hours of use I noticed the T.V. was getting really hot on the entire bottom of the television and the screen was starting to show grey in spots on the black screen as if light spots were showing all over it. Also when turning the T.V. on only about 2/3 of the screen was black and the rest was grey.

This LG TV seemed like it would be a great product, except the local dimming turns off whole vertical rows during dimming. If you watch anything with horizontal black bars, they will be different shades of black/gray and are very distracting. Reddit suggests turning local dimming off. I took mine back. One picture is local dimming on the other is off, notice the changes in gray vertically. It's worse in person.

I do not recommend this specific model--I returned it and picked up the Sony 850e series. The LG j7700 was an incredible deal, but the blacks were dark blue, it had odd banding (4 separate colors of "blue/black" on a black screen), and had a general washed out look. SOOO disappointed. But the Sony 850e was the opposite (even though more expensive--I didn't pay "enough" the first time, The Sony was what I expected--the LG was not). And I have an existing LG 55" upstairs--but the LG j7700 was not like this. I do not recommend.

I picked this up and it had decent reviews--but the blacks were all washed out and it even had bands across the panel. I returned it for a Sony--costs more, but massive difference.

Outstanding picture for the money

Unless one wants to spend multiple thousands of dollars more for an OLED display I would suggest this LG is well worth the money. I was about to buy another brand when the salesman told me that this was the lowest cost TV that had true HDR. While 4K is relatively early in it's roll out, I wanted to be ready for the new content as it becomes available. One thing I learned the hard way is one needs to pay attention to their input source. We had a lightning strike and it also took out our satellite receiver and the tech who installed the new HD receiver forgot to turn on the HD on the satellite receiver. Watching football games or high motion the movement content was making me sick....it was terrible. But this was not the LG TV's issue...it was the input not being set right at the source. Once I fixed this the picture during games and high motion are awesome. The only drawback on this TV for the price (non-oled) is that the black level is not consistent over the screen in a dark room. This is really only noticeable when the whole screen is black or mostly black. For example when the credits are scrolling at the end of a movie. Overall I would give this a big thumbs up for the price point.

I felt like I needed to upgrade from my 60in ultra 4K HD LG tv. So I researched HDR and when I went to see it in person I had to have it. The difference in price is definitely worth it and the picture is fantastic!! I love my 65in LG 4K HD w/ HDR tv more than my gf AND my dog!!!

I did a lot of research on the 7700 series for the LG 65 inch TV’s. I’m not sure what all of the negative comments were about but so far I’m enjoying the unit and it has very much lived up to the expectations. The unit came out of the
box with factory presets that showed a pretty decent picture but I tweaked it just a little and so far the picture is Awesome. The 20 watt speakers put out pretty nice sound too and we Love the Magic Remote! The delivery person on day of install even took it upon himself to inform me that he had the same series unit in the 55 inch and thought that it was a great tv. I’d have to agree with him thus far. I can’t wait to see how the unit sounds with my sound bar. This is a very nice mid level tv and I got a nice price on it too. 4K So far is so good!

I took a hard look at this TV given the sale price of under $1000. It looked incredible in the showroom (of course) and I took the plunge. When I got it hung on the wall I was initially filled with buyer's remorse, it did not look as good as I thought it should. Turns out the leap from HD to UHD is not as dramatic as the one from SD to HD. The default settings on the set were way off, no one would watch it the way it was set up, way too dark. Turned off power saver and the local dimming, turned off a bunch of other stuff as recommended by www.rtings,com and the picture started to fall into the range of what I was expecting. There are a lot of picture modes but I like "Vivid" the best, and football using the "Sports" mode is incredible. I upgraded my Netflix to UHD but I still don't see that much difference between HD and UHD. I should mention that I moved up from 55" to 65" so some of the resolution perception may be impacted by the size change. It took a few days to get used to it and I will admit that the picture is better than my old HD set. Just don't expect to be wowed at every turn like I did.

Great picture, HDR is worth the money. Straightforward setup. Light leaks at the top of the screen right out of the box, had to return. Loved the remote and the OS 3.5. 7700 model no longer available had to get a different model.

I bought this with a Best Buy price match. I give 5 stars to Best Buy.
I give 4 stars to this TV because it is a great set. The magic remote is, well, magical. Point at the screen, cursor comes on, and you press a button. Magic. The numerous channel plus channels, a robust webOS 3.5 with all the big subscriber apps, and myriad picture/channel settings makes this television a great buy.
My only complaint, and it's a medium-sized one, is the vertical banding from LED backlighting you get in this set. You get it on a lot of sets, from different bands, too. So I'm not sweating those bands too much. But when I'm watching a UHD/HDR/Dolby Vision movie, and it pans a sky, or large area of grass, or monochrome graphics, you'll likely notice those bands.
I love this set, except for that.
