Not worth the extra money for the C8!!!

Ok... After having a 65” Vizio M Series for about a year I wanted an upgrade in 4K TVs so I bought the 65” Sony 950G (which is the same tv as the 900F so don’t waste your money on buying the 950G just because it’s got a 2019 sticker on it, save money and get the 900F - check out the specs on both TVs). I had it hanging in the wall for a couple of weeks and just wasn’t liking the picture so I took it back to Best Buy and was going to get a Samsung Q80 until I saw the LG OLED B8. I ended up buying the LG because of the OLED screen and the picture at the store was incredible! I’ve had it for over a week now and I’m in love with it!!! It’s the most amazing tv I’ve ever seen, and I’ve researched a ton of these TVs. Spectacular picture and movement and LG has the built in sound bar so you get a pretty good sound, though I’ve always encouraged everyone that wants performance to get a sound bar or surround sound system. Beautiful clarity and has the blackest of black. I’ve read it performs better in a dark room but I have a halfway sunny living room and this tv gets plenty bright enough. Only drawbacks, which aren’t anything really, are that one. doesn’t have the HDMI 2.1 input for whenever they come out with something to use it for so, no biggie, and two. the B8 has the A7 processor and the C8 has an A9 processor but I’ve stood and watched both of the TVs side by side and you can’t tell any difference in the performance of the tv. The picture on the B8 was every bit just as amazing as the C8, so don’t waste your money getting the C8, unless the (not even being used yet) HDMI 2.1 and the A9 processor over the A7 (same performance as the A9 processor) are that important to you. The LG B8 is worth every penny spent and I’ve yet to see a better picture on any other tv. RTNGS.com named it Best TV in 2019

    Excellent TV! Forget LED Technology

This is my first LG product and first OLED TV. I love TVs and despite my wife's objection typically upgrade every 2 years. I own Samsung KS8500, Sony Z9D and Sony 900E. Few weeks ago it was time to upgrade my Samsung KS8500 and get a new TV. Was very excited to see Sony come out with their new 2019 model 950G. Great TV. Having said that I had a rough time justifying $2200 for 65 inch and getting worse TV than Sony Z9D and also still facing problems with blooming and blacks not being really black. It appears Sony is taking a step back on LEDs and not really investing more time or technology into it like putting more dimming zones. In-fact their Sony Z9D from 2016 is probably the best LED TV they ever made. Enter OLED. I was hesitant due to burn-in issues, although after reading countless of reviews and how it works I've decided that it won't be an issue. I don't watch networks with static logos or images for 14 hours a day everyday and even if I'm not watching cable or satellite at full brightness. Bonus is that Geek Squad protection covers burn-ins so definitely best place to buy OLED is Best Buy rather than buy-dig or some online vendor. Second - Another issues I've heard is that TV doesn't get as bright as LED. Yes that is true, but that is a great thing, not a bad thing. For my living room it gets plenty bright during the day but I admit I don't have 9 or 10 windows with full sun coming in so not sure how that would work in your environment. Watching a movie in the dark room it is beyond excellent! True the highlights like explosions or even brights don't get as bright as highest peak on LEDs like Sony Z9D, but again that is not a bad thing. The TV turns off blacks so you can clearly see defined picture and more details where as on LEDs the TV has to get bright in order to distinguish between blacks and other colors and sometimes it is too bright where little details are lost. PROS - Deep perfect blacks! In dark you can't even tell where the TV begins and ends - Excellent Colors - Thin/Well build with very little bazel - Much better and smoother interfact/apps than Samsung and Sony - Dolby Vision (Not available on Samsung TVs) - Very responsive on gaming from what I've observed on Switch - Excellent 4K UHD Quality - Very good Blu-Ray Quality with some proper adjustments - Stand works great. most of my TVs had to be wall mounted due to wide legs but the stand on this finally allows me to put the TV little lower on top of the fire place. Stand is 24X8 inches. - Outstanding picture at an angle view. Sometimes family members will sit at an angle and the feedback I got so far is that for them it is way better. Cons - Remote Control is cheaply made/built. - Not as good at up-converting Digital Cable/Satellite channels that are still in 480p/720p. No matter how much I tried it doesn't look as bright or as sharp as Sony who is the best followed by Samsung. This is not even remotely a deal breaker for me as I watch very little Cable/Satellite channels and even when I do I watch HD at 1080. With the 2 year Geek Squad protection I can sleep well knowing my TV is great for 2 years. After watching over 15 4K movies and 4 Blu-Ray movies, Apple TV in 4K with Dolby Vision I can without hesitation say that I will never buy an LED TV. Done and over with. Finally as far as price I picked this up brand new at Best Buy store for $1999.99 which was a special price (closeout) few weeks ago. Again I was looking at Sony 950G which is $2199.99 right now and Samsung 8QF which was $2299.99 and couldn't justify buying either over LG OLED and with price being under $2K and adding the GeekSquad protection for 2 years it was a no brainer. Perhaps I return to Sony down the road but cheapest SONY OLED at 65 inch was $2999.99 and it uses LG screen anyway. It's not always the screen as again Sony processor and technology is better for at least upconverting digital cable but for a $1000 I'll pass. Solid TV so far with almost 4 weeks of using it. Will update this at a 6 month use if anything changes. All I can tell you right now is my wife who typically couldn't tell a difference between a cheap Sony 850F and Sony 950G as well as source told me this is the best TV I ever bought and let's just say I didn't get as much earful of spending money as I typically get when I upgrade TVs and she can't tell too much difference.

So I don’t know how to describe the technical effects of the TV (look on almost any other review for that). I’m just going to tell you the simple man’s version: The TV is easily the best on the market right now (without buying the ones that are priced higher than $3k). Compared to the Samsung QLED and Sony Bravia, this wind hands down. That being said, at first I was a little disappointed... I thought I owned SOME 4K digital content, and turns out I didn’t. So be prepared to dish out some more $$$ to see this thing the way it’s meant to be viewed. Upon seeing it, however... breathtaking is the only way to describe it. And truthfully, I haven’t even seen it in 4K disc mode yet (just digital 4K), and it’s hard to imagine it looking better than it already does. It makes regular HD shows look outstanding - there is hardly any 4K TV content except drom Amazon and Netflix (and both companies offerings suck, IMO) but it’s still awesome to watch football in HD on this thing. I know the price point isn’t for everybody, and i personally waited 2 years for this to get perfected (it has been), but if you can justify the spend and know this TV should last you almost 10 years if handled properly, then I couldn’t recommend it enough.

    As good as my Plasma

I got this TV three weeks ago to replace a 2009 top-of-the-line Panasonic Plasma. So all comparisons are with the previous 1080P set. I saw a demo unit at our local Best Buy store where it was connected to a continuous feed of 4K material. So my main concern was: How would it look if my primary content source is a 1080P cable box? My previous experience with 4K TV was at restaurants where they host Samsung and LG 4K. The pictures I saw were never as good as my Panasonic plasma. My main concern was that the pictures looked soft. The Best Buy associate assured me that restaurants generally buy lower priced TVs build with lesser quality 4K upscalers and LG OLEDs are superior. I took his words and pulled the trigger. I then connected the TV to an Onkyo TX-NR585 4K receiver. The Best Buy Associate was right, LG OLEDs do have excellent upsacalers for regular HD content. I would recommend this to anyone considering OLEDs. With the TV set to expert mode, here is my experience with of all the video contents that have been tried: 1. HD Cable (Comcast) content shot with video cameras (e.g. Football games, reality shows.) are as sharp as my 1080P plasma. You will not notice much difference. At the Best Buy store, you can use the Youtube app and bring up a sports event (e.g. Super Bowl highlights) and get a feel of what cable programming looks like. 2. HD Cable content shot on film (e.g. prime-time TV drama) are also as good as the plasma. I have to assume that the networks have optimized the video when converting to 1080I so the TV does not have to work very hard to upscale to 4K. 3. Blu-Ray disks (24P) vary from disk to disk. Most are as good as my plasma. One showed less smoothness when the camera panned across the scene. 4. 4K content. The only 4K content I tried is with the built-in Youtube app. I connected the TV back to the receiver with an optical audio cable so I can use the receiver’s HDMI ARC feature. 4K video is a little better than 1080P when viewing from about 9 feet away. However, the sound quantity from 4K content totally blew me away. It was way better than regular HDMI. I would recommend anyone with a sound system to switch to digital audio cable. 5. TV’s built in Speakers are not very impressive. They are better than most flat screens, but cannot compete with a true sound system. Overall I was very happy with this purchase.

It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to flat panel TVs. I am always looking for the absolute best, even if I have to pay more for it when compared to what else is on the market. Case in point, I bought a $6k Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma, eventually adding a really nice HD Samsung plasma as a second display (just before every manufacturer bailed on plasma technology.) After seeing the difference between pixels that create their own light source vs ones that must be backlit, I've always felt that an OLED based TV would be in my future. Fast forward to January when I decided to give my two working plasmas to my son (who was moving out). I began looking at the various LCDs on the market and compared them to the LG OLEDs. For me, it was an easy decision. I immediately selected a new 2018 LG B8 series OLED that Best Buy was offering at Black Friday pricing. I am so happy I did. I always felt that the picture I could achieve on either my Samsung or my Pioneer panel was incredible, but neither of them were UHD capable. Every time I saw one of the OLEDs at Best Buy I'd end up being drawn to the clarity, color and contrast inherent in the technology. I was hooked. So this OLED panel is the first actual UHD TV I've owned (full disclosure... I also upgraded my AVR and my blu-ray player to get every feature available for this TV, including Dolby Vision and full high speed HDMI switching for my other sources.) I have to say that as state of the art as those plasmas were, this LG just makes them look bad in comparison. The ability to get to absolute black blows away any contrast advantage that other panels offer with respect to maximum brightness. There is plenty of brightness here to allow HDR sources to shine. It may take some tweaking to get everything right, but when you do this panel can rival any Plasma for contrast, color purity, off access integrity and ease of use. My new Panasonic UHD player mates perfectly with this unit as it can upscale everything to 4k and tweak HDR parameters. So all of my standard blu-rays look almost as good as my UHD discs. Streaming on line sources mastered in Dolby Vision look fabulous as well. It's now been about a month since my purchase and I have found no weaknesses at all with this TV. I would highly recommend it to anyone who, like me, wants what is arguably one of the absolute best television panels available today. It may cost a little more than other panels, but I learned a long time ago that you get what you pay for. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Let me start by saying I have never owned a TV that it this good. I needed to replace a 55” TV with standard HD. So when I started looking, I decided to not only go bigger but to go with 4K and HDR since more and more programming is becoming available. I looked at all the brands and it came down to Sony and the LG. Picture quality and features were similar but the price is what clinched the deal. I would recommend this TV to anyone wanting a quality OLED 4K.

One look at the blacks on this TV and I was sold. Reminds me a bit of the old Pioneer plasma TVs. Picture quality is superb and the WebOS interface works very well. Couple of tips on this TV. 1. It has some glare, more than I expected. I would not have it in direct sunlight. It is very bright, so not issues seeing it. 2. Mounting on a wall is a little trickier due to where the mounting holes are. The TV is very thing expect for the bottom third where the electronics and mounting is. Make sure your bracket works with that type of mount (I found a great one). 3. Speaker quality is better than nearly every TV out there. Above my fireplace I am not using a speaker bar and it sounds decent. Worth every penny. Enjoy this TV.

I absolutely love LG tvs. I have a total of 6 between our two houses. I bought the 55" LG OLED last year for me for Christmas. I was afraid the 65" would be too big, and did not want to spend the extra money. This year I decided I HAD to have the 65", so when a deal came up that I could not refuse, I bought it and moved the 55" to my husband's room. I love, love, love this tv. the picture is phenomenal, and Best Buy really worked with me on price. I absolutely could not have gotten a better deal anywhere.

I've been wanting to pick up an OLED screen for a while, especially after my last LED suffered from severe ghosting, and dynamic contrast was so inconsistent as to be more distracting than enjoyable. This is my 3rd 4K screen and probably my 5th LG, and it is night and day the best picture and TV I've owned. Colors really pop, including gaming (tested Switch, PS4 and XBox One X), over the air, and Video Services. The most immediate thing that I've noticed from just about any TV in normal lighting is how you can see some leaking light (at least a little) around an LED or QLED picture. Quite simply, (Q)LED needs a backlight, which is provided in one of many zones. The screen will have to turn on zones around the text (it can't get any smaller than the size of the zone) to some degree, so you will see it in a dark room. Not so with the OLED. It's really night and day (pun intended) over and above what you can get on an LED. The LG Remote is easy to pickup and figure out, but there are quriks (as there are with any remote, honestly). The TV is extremely responsive, and I was able to map it to my cable box in a few minutes. The biggest drawback that I've seen so far is that the remote has eschewed a Menu button for it's internal channel guide (the menu button maps well with the menu button on a Comcast X). The channel guide does a good job of remembering the last channel you were on in Live TV mode, but not when connecting to the set top box. It's really a minor quibble, as the family is moving away from broadcast TV anyways. Another quibble is that I'm not a fan of Clear Motion in any form, and it seems to be the default that the TV companies like to put out these days. It's just fake when presenting most movies, you can turn it on when you need it (or keep it on in certain video modes, if that's your thing). Having to remove it when playing around with different picture modes is obnoxious. Keep in mind that it's because I don't like it, it's totally personal, and YMMV. Note that the B8 series is the late 2017-early 2018 model (I got it for $1900 when LG had a big price discount earlier this summer). The OS update adds a lot of features that let you minimize the chance of experiencing burn in. I'd definitely recommend taking some time with any new TV learning how to customize the picture for the individual set. It will make all the difference based on what you watch.

I've been eyeing OLEDs for years and I finally bit the bullet and got one and boy, am I loving it. Love the colors, the settings are easy to adjust, and the picture is amazing. I finally was able to put my PS4 Pro to use and see how a game looks in 4K HDR. I haven't played video games in long time and now I'm looking for more games to play because they're gorgeous on this TV. Kingdom Hearts 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn were my first two on this TV and gaming has never been better. Watching my old Blurays has been great, also. I've missed out, but I am definitely happy now that I decided to get this. No regrets or buyer's remorse here.

    Unwanted Upgrade Perfection

I bought a 65 inch Samsung KS8000 4K HDR tv less than 3 years ago and was overall very happy with it. It had some dirty screen effect and some minor light bleed, but overall had a great picture and was awesome for games. A few weeks back while on a work trip, my wife texted me that 4 black spots had appeared on the screen. It had somehow developed 4 pinkie tip sized splotches of dead pixels. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I had purchased direct from Samsung and forgone the extended warranty. I was unable to live with the black splotches and went out to look for a replacement. I decided I wanted to buy from a local store and ended up at best buy where they've always treated me very well. I'd known that OLED TVs provided a better overall picture but previously wasn't willing to shell out what at the time was close to twice ad much money for one. Also I did have some concerns about the potential for burn in. This time around, the sale price was almost the same for the 65 inch OLED LG B8 as for the competitors LCD models, and in some cases cheaper. I decided to take go OLED this time, and it's so much better that it almost makes having to buy another expensive tv years sooner than I wanted to worth it. I was able to compare the old and new TVs side by side and there really is a massive difference in picture quality. Blacks are perfect, and colors are very deep and realistic. Everything just really looks more rich and real. And Dolby Vision on Netflix is as good a picture as I've ever seen. It really is fantastic. I went ahead and bought the Geek Sqaud protection as I didn't want a repeat of the last go round, and the extra nice thing is that the it covers burn in. Very happy with my new OLED TV, even if the upgrade came sooner than expected, and the local best buy was great to work with once again.

LG did an amazing job with this TV and my only issue is when watch stuff from the side the TV speakers sound off and scratchy. This is probably due too the way they fire out of the TV but it’s a minor complaint because this isn’t a 10K oled TV remember this is the entry level.

I love my new tv, it was a bit pricey but totally worth it. Very deep darks and beautiful colors. The magic remote is fun to use and the menu is streamlined. I do have a couple of gripes with it still, and it may seem like nitpicking but nevertheless these are things that bother me. First is a pro and a con, the tv is paper thin and mainly glass but when I reach around to add or remove cables the bezzle seems to scratch my arm. Second is the fact that I dont have cable.... for some reason the tv always starts up on channel search and is blaring static, this may be fixed once I hook up an hdmi device but still, it's a little annoying if you dont. Third is very very subjective but the LG store does not have crunchyroll and I love my anime. Even still screen mirroring to this TV is streamlined with no lag and full quality from phone to tv. Overall I am extremely satisfied there is a huge difference between this and my sony bravia when it comes to the menu and functions.

I did a lot of research before landing on this model. If you're considering an OLED, then I don't need to repeat what you already know. The picture is unparalleled. We've paired it with a MartinLogan cadence sound bar/dynamo 700w sub and the combination is perfection! The menu and options available for customization make it so easy to find your sweet spot. Strangely, I still find viewing of many apps are better via Roku. No complaints at all!

We shopped the broad selection of 65” TV’s for months, and like most we were tempted by the low prices of other brands. However, when we actually saw the OLED in person we were sold. The picture is amazing, we watched one movie the first night and swore we could have joined the action. The reviews we read were accurate, nothing compares to the picture quality of this set. My only regret is that we didn’t have room for the 75” version.

I'm too early I using this TV to give a complete review. So far, so good, however. Great color, great picture. Easy stuff is, well, easy - turn on/off. Find a channel or the directory, go to NetFlix or the web, etc. Many Smart TV capabilities that require effort to learn to use. Using the full capabilities of the remote is like prepping for and taking the SATs. LG has a complete manual for use on line. It can be downloaded as an HTML document. It's not really printable. What is really needed is an old fashion printed manual that can be used in front of the TV to practice with the remote. This user would pay for such if LG offered it.

Beautiful picture, just what we wanted. Would have given 5 starts if the wall mount had been different. The position of the mount on the back of the TV is no centered. The wall mounting position is toward the bottom of the TV, which makes it hard to figure where your mount should be positioned on the wall. I had a mount already on my wall and had to move it, to get my TV to be close to centered, on my wall. I have mounted several TV's on walls, and this was the most difficult to get the measurements correct.

This is a beautiful TV with the most amazing picture with vivid colors and better than usual speakers. I dinged it a star because the unboxing and setup paper is pictural only without a written instruction whatsoever and it isn't completely intuitive. There is no user manual really, even online so takes some hacking at figuring out what/where settings are. Lastly, I noticed the lip sync was completely out of whack. $3k for the only TV I've ever owned that can't sync the audio??? Searching found some videos on YouTube of people that had encountered than problem and the fix appears to be to turn off the Dolby Atmos. There is some kind of adaptive control buried in the settings too.

Great screen, like the OLED a lot. The blacks and dark colors are much better on this TV. Slight quirk... the TV seems to take a long time to attach to my wireless network, and sometimes I have to go into settings and make it connect. For the money this TV cost, I would expect it to quickly and automatically logon on to my router every time the TV is started up (it’s just a big standard AT&T router, so there is nothing special or weird on that end). Still the picture is great & that’s why I bought it. The picture is so good, I wish the TV came with standard wallpaper or screensavers. I would problem leave it on 24x7 if it did...

I would recommend this to a friend
