Got this to replace an 11 year old Samsung that was state of the art at the time but needed to be retired. Went back and forth on whether to step up to OLED as I've been waiting for the price to come down and it finally has. Wrestled with getting the B9 or C9 for about $250 more but based on other expert reviews it was such a minimal difference I opted for the B9 and just used the money saved to get the extra 2 year geek squad protection. I never do that but did with this purchase due to the possibility of burn in that I've read. Being careful with that but so far so good. Got this before the Super Bowl and set it up to watch in 4K as this was the first one broadcast in 4K(upconverted from 1080p). It looked great and I probably sold a lot of these for LG as everyone at our party kept raving about how great the picture was and how thin the TV is. All of this said the picture is only as good as the source that you are getting it from. Reminds me of when 1080p first came out and you only really saw anything at that resolution was by watching a Blu Ray DVD. Use YouTubeTV at home now and the max resolution is 1080p and a lot of content is 720p. I use with Apple TV 4K as I like the interface better as it previews what you might want to watch in the guide. Read CNET for how to set up the Apple TV for a 4K TV as you'll not want to enable Dolby Vision all the time but just have it match content instead. Lastly the picture settings for the TV make all the difference as well. I started with Consumer Reports settings but like the OLED light level brighter than what they recommend. There as several sites out there that have recommended settings so I just tried several and used the one that looked best to me. When in Dolby Vision it basically takes over and sets it up to look perfect in my opinion so your settings will be for most other content that's not 4K/HDR. You do need a dark room for it to look its best just as most say. But when you get the settings right, and the lighting in the room dark; the picture is really the best you can get today. Highly recommend especially with the prices coming down.

The bad news: My 3 1/2 year old LG OLED failed and required replacement.
The good news: I rarely buy service contracts but I did purchase a service contract on my OLED so I received a 65 B9 as a replacement TV.
I was very disappointed when my 2016 model OLED died. Luckily I have a service contract. Having spent 3 1/2 years owning an OLED I knew the replacement TV had to be an OLED. I am not and never have been a fan of LED/LCD TV sets. I personally think LED/LCD is an inferior technology. My decision was narrowed to which OLED. I ruled out the Sony's fairly quickly because Sony uses LG panels and the Sony's struck me as needlessly more expensive. Not sure I agreed with the idea that the Sony's have better video processing than LG. My choice came down to LG B9 and C9. It appears the main differences between B9 and C9 are the weight and sturdiness of the base, A7 vs. A9 processing and the C9 is slightly brighter in HDR.
The light weight of the B9 base is not an issue for me and the TV may end up wall mounted. The only review I found where someone noticed a difference in video processing between the B9 and C9 was on standard definition (low quality) material which I never watch. The B9 is significantly brighter that my former OLED and MORE than bright enough for our situation. Personally, I believe that extremely high brightness levels are over rated and unnecessary. Contrast is KING!
Just like others have mentioned OLED is the best. Contrast, colors, clarity, viewing angles, great design. OLED has it all. No LED/LCD TV set can match it.
I think the LG 65 B9 is easily the best deal in high end 65" TV sets and I recommend it HIGHLY. We like it so much that we plan to buy a 55 B9 for another room.
HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!

It's too good.... Weird to say that, I know. I have this in a pretty standard high end setup with an HTPC and a receiver. The issue with this TV is no fault of the TV. It has everything that I want, but because it has HDMI 2.1, and neither my reciever nor my computer do, I need to do some really "fun" workarounds to make this TV take full advantage of its abilities.
I found it interesting and entertaining, but the remote and apps for this TV make me almost want to use the smart TV functions more than my computer...almost. You can't beat a PC in customization and versatility, but right now I need to wait for the PC and receiver market to catch up to this TV.
There are many settings that I needed to mess with to get my desired picture, but I know the risks of disabling the safety features. Burn in is possible, but only if you treat this like a normal TV and be careless with it. This isn't a glorified Pandora now playing screen. Using it as such is a glorious waste of money and will ruin the TV. Use it for what it's meant for (theater and games), and it'll blow you away.
PS. Dark things with bright spots look really good. I use Fire Force (anime) to show it off.

After owning 2 different LCD 4k TV's, this is my first OLED TV. The difference is amazing. The black levels are so nice! I always got annoyed by dark scenes in movies looking more grey than anything, especially when streaming. HDR is also very nice. The TV is also fast and responsive, the built-in apps work very well. Only caveat with this TV would be to be careful for screen "burn in." If you watch a lot of sports or news programs, consider something else.

Did not realize the special features available on this tv. You tube, Hulu, net flex, are just a few. Also the remote acting like a computer mouse is so helpful. The sound is very adequate without a sound bar. Enjoy the beautiful pictures you can put on the screen and look just like a museum picture with t.v. as a frame.
The most amazing part is the OLED screen. I thought plasma screen was so much better than LED but OLED tops both.

I have had this TV for about a month (LG OLED B9 65") and I must say the image quality is superb and unmatched. Without any adjustments the image quality is excellent BUT if you take a little time to do some online research and make some tweaks to each type of viewing mode (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision), the picture quality becomes PHENOMENAL. I am a technophile and have been comparing and researching TVs for years. The price of this specific TV dropped to the point where I finally was able to justify the purchase and I could not be happier. I have been wanting an OLED TV for years and this is THE ONE.
BTW...the caution that you may have with burn-in is understandable but MASSIVELY overrated as the large majority of people like us are not going to have static images at full vivid mode displayed on our OLED TVs. And LG has menu options to prevent all that from happening so burn-in is of VERY LITTLE CONCERN.
Look...you are going to have this TV for several years. The quality of the picture is so amazing that it is completely worth the investment. You will do what I have been doing and just remarking to yourself every time you watch high end 4K content (even SDR from your local cable/satellite provider looks darn good) on your LG OLED how BEAUTIFUL the picture is and how glad you were to purchase it.
Get off the fence....go get the LG OLED already....set it up (which was easy)...and START ENJOYING your experiences with the best TV available!!!!

We had a 4K HDR set for a couple of years, however there was a huge issue with grey-scale uniformity at around 5%-10% (otherwise known as "Dirty Screen Effect" where during dark scenes in movies, TV, or video games, it would seem 'streaky'). It was very noticeable, but we lived with it.
Finally decided to make a switch and picked up the top-rated (by rtings.com) B9. I am blown away.
There is no noticeable DSE effect. The panel is very uniform throughout the whole thing. The colors are amazing due to the blacks being so completely black. I am very happy with the OS of the TV and watch most of my content through the apps including YouTube, Netflix, AppleTV, Disney+, etc. Navigation is much easier and intuitive than our old set.
Can't recommend this set enough.
I was a little worried about screen burn-in and read up on it extensively. I am very careful to not leave the set on a frozen image while I'm playing video games. I think the content I watch is varied enough that I won't have a problem there, either.

The picture quality on this is fabulous! You can actually see when there is a dark scene because the blacks are distinguished from each other. I watched an episode of Handmaids Tale and was shocked at how much I didn’t see with my last tv. Super easy set up and every app you can think of is in the LG store for this tv. It’s a bit expensive but worth the money!

This TV is the BOMB!! Best picture I have ever seen. Awesome features, easy set up, and love the remote. The magic remotes controls my entire set up (Apple TV, Sony Blu-ray player, and Sonos 5.1 system). On the pricey side but that’s expected with a high end product. Highly, highly recommended. Get this TV. You will not be disappointed.

Wanted to upgrade to a smart TV and did my research = this TV came out on top when considering performance and cost.
Bought the TV on sale at Best Buy - sales associate was great and answered all my questions. Had BB Geek Squad install - they were amazing. I recommend if you get a TV like this one add the Geek Squad One - year Total Tech Support. The Geek Squad was at my house on time and installed the TV quickly and stayed to answer all my questions.
The TV is totally amazing. Within 15 minutes I forgot what my old TV looked like!!! I cannot say enough good things about this TV so far. I highly recommend this TV and Best Buy support. The only negative thing I can say is that I wish I would have bought this sooner. Watching football is totally amazing on this TV!!!

I love my tv. I upgraded from a great Samsung, but it was not Oled. And it was 49”. I needed something bigger and I think for the price you get to that next level color, with super deep blacks. Apps and smart functions are great and way better and less finicky then my Samsung, which makes for a lot less headaches and workarounds trying to get certain apps to work. Smart remote will let you work your cable box from the LG remote. Internal Sound is amazing. I haven’t even hooked up my 5.1 system.
Only downside is that obviously crappy cable will not let you watch stuff in all it’s glory. It’s missing HBO apps, which I wanted because watching through the apps gives better visual quality.

Finally stepped it up and got me an OLED. Thing sparkles like a stripper pole. The picture quality on this thing is simply divine. I can watch this thing all day long and just cannot stop from being impressed. I currently rock hard on watching 4k UHD movies on disc and the Dolby Vision is key. I mean HDR10 is nice and all but the DV is a huge game changer. 12 bits, check and HDR10 not so much. Perfect vision here so the difference is night and day to me. So go save your cans and grab yourself an OLED. For gaming, movies or just general browsing, this thing is king.

This is a great TV for the price, haven't had a single issue with it since purchase. I had to dock it one point though for the user interface.
My TCL Roku TV has a much better and more intuitive UI. LG's definitely isn't the worst I've used (looking at you SONY), but it's just little things that I miss from the TCL. The LG doesn't auto-switch to the input you turn on (xbox in my case) like the TCL did. The LG also takes longer to send the signal to turn on my soundbar (via ARC) than the TCL. Still works, just not as nice and seamless. TCL also integrates better with Google Assistant than the LG itself. Once I got my Nest mini to actually talk to the Assistant built into the TV, and not the LG overlay layer, it's been much better.
But the picture blows away the TCL, which is the main reason I bought the TV. Haven't experienced any burn in, even with me gaming a few hours a week (COD, Madden, etc). No major lag or anything either.

I returned the Samsung Q80 for this and I'm glad I did. The picture quality is unmatched! Plus, they updated the firmware to be able to play games at 4k and 120fps. My brother does a lot of gaming and likes being able to play his games at 120 frames. Sadly, there is nothing that can take advantage of this yet so we're definitely future proofed. This tv is jaw dropping and honestly nothing comes close to the picture quality. It doesn't get as bright as a QLED tv, but the black levels, color and detail is worth the trade-off.
