The Best TV for Xbox Series X / Game Room

I did quite a bit of research before pulling the trigger on the LG C1, and it has NOT disappointed one bit. After getting a Xbox Series X, it I was struck by how little of the graphical/color/frame rate could be rendered by my 2016 65" Sony Bravia 4K TV. The 2021 LG C1 OLED solved all that. This TV is absolute gaming beast and looks incredible. I have often stopped myself in single players game to just pause and look around. Newer games like Far Cry 6 (see Chorizo attached) look stunning and play buttery smooth.
The suite of features and the handy magic remote make switching between inputs a breeze, and the TV will auto-detect when you switch to a game system (Series X or PS5) and automatically go into Game Optimizer mode. Game optimizer come with FPS, RTS and third mode (I use FPS mode). Also note the Game optimizer is not something you HAVE to have on screen, it's just available at the press of a button so you can confirm you're playing with VRR/Low Latency mode on, etc.
If you play FPS games (COD, Warzone, Halo Infinite, Battlefield, etc) then the TV's ability to play at 120Hz (available on Series X/PS5) is a noticeable and game-impacting upgrade.
The LG series OLED are also the only TV which can support Xbox's Dolby HDR...gotta hit up YouTube for a guide on how to do that, but I promise the PS5's HDR10 is gonna look marvelous at well.
So what about TV and Movie viewing? Playing a 4K ULTRA Bluray is a marvel. Netflix and HBOMAX and Apple content that streams in 4K is a joy. I've never had a TV with blacks this black. It can actually be disconcerting at times, and you may want to tweak you brightness somewhat as some shows with dark scenes can be REALLY DARK. Again, a few YT videos will help guide you to calibrate the OLED pretty easily.

Best TV on the market

Once you get the settings correct for you and the room you’re watching in, this tv is phenomenal. After a lot of research, I decided to go OLED and I figured why not go with the company that supplies the OLED panels to everyone else. It took some tweaking, and I’m still doing so occasionally, but once you get the settings right on this things it’s incredible. The main thing you will notice are the blacks, which is what separates this tv from the other. And while that may not seem like a lot, you’ll be amazing by how much having the dark sections actually be dark will change a picture. It’s the way the show or movie was meant to be seen. This is definitely a tv for for movies. But it’s really good for sports, too. But if you want the super bright and vibrant colors to pop for sports then go with a mini-LED version as they will be brighter and more vibrant. I find the colors are little more muted when it comes to sports but not in a bad way. It’s a little more true to life but that’s not always what people want to see when watching sports.
I’m not a game but the games I have seen on here are absolutely ridiculous. The refresh rate and the dark
Blacks make gameplay pop off the screen. Every color up against the super black background jumps off the screen.
The interface is meh but once you get used to it it’s easy enough. Launching is a little jerky and slow but once it loads, the interface works fine. I’ve converted to using it for most streaming.
The art gallery mode is super cool but gimmicky. On this model you have to go and switch to the gallery mode or change to an unused input, which is simple enough but not seamless. It works really well and the art looks incredible, but I’ve never intentionally used it for more than a couple minutes while checking it out.
Overall, this is the best tv on the market, IMO. I’d say if you can afford to go OLED then do so, I’m very happy with the purchase. But if you’re riding the fence and cost is a factor or if you never watch movies or tv shows and only watch live sports, then go for a mini-led and you will be just as happy.

Dark blacks, rich deep colors, smooth motion for both fast and slow changes on screen... All in all it's an AMAZING experience. I've got a Samsung QLED in the bedroom and this LG OLED in the main room and the difference is noticeable with the LG OLEDs abilities to be turned off at the pixel level resulting in a black that's truly black and not just dark gray.
Also, my Xbox Series X is truly able to take advantage of the 4k 120hz w/ Dolby vision on this screen.
My recommendation: mount it high on the wall and take the time to go through the calibration settings if you are running Series X. I'm sitting with this TV at roughly 20inches down from the ceiling on 9ft walls, and it's insanely comfortable to view.
Not a single regret with this purchase.

I initially had purchased a Samsung QN90A and the picture was fantastic however it had some DSE (dirty screen effect) on top of their aggressive tone mapping which would wash out color if it is overlaid on top of darker content. I returned that set.
I then went with a Sony X95J and it was fantastic for the first few days until I noticed some serious grid issues with brighter content being watched. I returned that one as well.
The whole process I had wanted to go with the LG C1 and honestly was scared of burn in and concerned it wasn't going to be bright enough for my living room which does have some natural light coming in during the day, so I went with the other two sets first and countless hours of research and trial and error later have found the one.
This set is just beyond fantastic, its plenty bright and the way it handles color is superior to how the other 2 sets did (the Samsung was close if it wasn't washing out the color). I used Youtube for initial set up and made some small adjustments to match my liking. I have put it through its paces looking for issues with software or DSE but have found nothing.
This was my first choice; I should have just gone with it the first time but glad I have it now.
That glare you see is as bad as it gets for me, and the iPhone picked up the light a bit more than what I am seeing.

This is the absolute best TV on the market right now! I bought this TV after buying the 65 inch where it was on sale at my local Best Buy. After having a TV for a few months is 77 inch one on sale it was a no brainer. It was even better up on my wall at home. The picture is crisp , The blacks are true black. The TV has a 120 Hz connection for gaming at 120 FPS. Whether you just wanna casual TV watcher or you’re a serious gamer, this TV is for you. With the sales Best Buy has you can get a great deal on this television from 43 inch, 55 inch, 65 inch, 77 inch, and an 83 inch.
This also makes a fantastic Computer Monitor

Lots to learn about this TV and its capabilities. I have it hooked up to my Denon 4k receiver via a HDM ARC interface for the audio. I also have a Fire TV with RCast, Sony BRay player, Phono, R-T-R, & OTA TV connected. The TV remote has some smart capability to control other devices as long as LG supports them. The LG remote does not support Fire TV yet but it does support the Denon which was helpful for setting up Atmos/speakers/etc. I am surprised how I am constantly astonished of the picture quality. I had a 65 inch plasma before but the viewing angle of this TV is plenty wide enough. I decided on this TV because of the testing online regarding the speed of processing of moving white circles in a background of black testing without any lag. Some other technologies can't do this as good. I like the ease of changing input sources via the remote. I haven't found anything I don't like about it yet. I did buy a second remote later since we always seem to misplace one and found some good remote covers with fluorescence that fit them good and protect them.

Decided to upgrade a 55" TV and took advantage of an open box deal to save a few hundred bucks after shopping a couple of months for a new TV. I’ve heard from everyone OLED is the best out right now and after having the TV a while i have to agree. Picture is amazing! I really enjoy watching 4K movies and playing video games on it! It syncs to all my existing devices that makes it easy to control with thr provided remote. Sound is fine but i mostly use my 7.1 external speakers. Highly recommended.

If you already have last year's CX version, you probably don't need to worry about an upgrade, but if you're looking for a new OLED, , and can afford the price point, I highly suggest the new C1.
It's got a new layout than old LG models, including the new WebOS 6.0 platform, and it's slightly brighter than last year's version, particularly when it comes to gaming (if you're a PS5 owner like me, I can confirm that the games look GREAT on this TV).
This TV is especially a great choice if you want a large TV but don't want to mount it on the wall (note: this model comes with a stand, but NOT a wall mount, which one would need to purchase separately). Set up was quite easy (three screws connect the two parts of the stand; four screws connect the stand into the back of the TV), although I highly recommend having at least two people do it.
The only downside to WebOs at this point is that it does NOT yet carry HBOMax (but it DOES have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Vudu, Disney+, Hulu, Showtime, Apple TV, Paramount+, Peacock, and others).

This tv is amazing, I love the picture quality when its calibrated and setup properly.
The 77" looks perfect in my family room paired with my 7.1.2 speaker setup for Atmos. This tv gets inky black, no greyish blacks or light bleed. This put my old 65" Panasonic plasma to shame.
I got this on sale for a great price 2399.99 and had quit a bitof gift cards bringing this well under 2k for me. 4k HDR, SDR and Dolby Vision looks incredible whether your streaming Vudu movies or Netflix, or if I'm watching a UHD bluray disc. The picture looks beautiful.
Im blown away by how much lighter this tv is compared to my old 65" plasma 132lbs for the plasma vs 59 lbs for this 77" OLED. I like the hdmi ARC works for relaying Atmos audio from streaming apps on the tv back to my Denon AVR.
My only complaint is I didnt buy this back on Black Friday. I knew I was missing out but had to wait again for the prices to drop back down, thanks C2 models....
I definitely recommend this tv to anyone on the fence, it is well worth the price tag...

Got the 77 C1. All I have to say is wow! There’s been talk about such a difference in brightness with the G1 and C1. I’m sure there’s a small difference but honestly the C1 is bright enough. Save yourself some $$ this TV is excellent for gaming, as currently I have the PS4 pro and awaiting Ps5 availability, and with HDMI 2.1 I can’t wait for the increased bandwidth, and next-gen gaming. Movies look spectacular too in 4K. The other thing that the C1 does that my old Sony 75 led didn’t do is recognize External HDMI devices and identify them, without having the need to label each device. The updated magic remote is awesome too! There’s nothing this TV doesn’t do wonderfully!

Sizable Upgrade from 65”

Upgraded from a LG CX OLED 65”. First 3 photos are the new C1, last photo is the 65” CX. The extra foot of screen is substantial.
TLDR: Well worth the upgrade if your considering going from a LED 65” and have the space. Going from 65” OLED CX, less of a value but still worth it because size matters.
After install and changing settings, first thing I did was play CoD: Vanguard multiplayer. Immediately, my eyes/head hurt from the size change. I played for about 30 minutes, and wasn’t really getting used to the size yet. I was thinking “oh no, it’s too big what did I do?” I couldn’t believe it, I finally reached the upper limit of TV size.
So, I turned off CoD and watched some Prime for a bit. Headache subsided, but still some eye strain. I kept thinking about how massive this TV is. This was early afternoon. Later that evening, I jumped back into CoD again, zombies this time with friends. As soon as I started playing, two friends I had not heard of called me. One of them was completely into TVs and had just upgraded to a 75”. He said the strain goes away after day one, and soon you appreciate the size.
The next day was exactly as my friend said - no more eye strain, brain adjusted. It’s just a big TV. And it’s perfect.
I sit 11’ away from the TV; bottom of TV is 38” from ground. TV is also a bit higher than previous TV, roughly 7” difference from bottom. Mostly play video games.

Pink line on the edge of the TV that lingers for 10-15 seconds at times. It does go away, but odd. I realize that LG doesn't do the Chromecast, but for a TV of this price I would have liked to have the option vs whatever the LG solution is since it's not nearly as common as the cast ability of most modern Android devices. The picture is great. No discernable burn-in after a year or so of unintentionally leaving it pause on and having a conversation. Great for 60fps gaming on the PS5, assuming the PS5 hardware can keep up (sometimes it can't - that's a Sony issue, not the TV.) Occasionally, the TV won't recognize the input from the AVR, but it's an easy turn off and back on most of the time. Sometimes I would have to unplug everything, not just the TV. My experience with expensive TVs is you had better purchase the warranty. I'm on my 3rd 75"+ TV and I haven't found a brand that's lasted over three years yet. I would avoid the larger top-end Vizio.

Pick the LG over the Samsung

It’s been 12 years since replacing my Panasonic plasma television, so I wanted my new one to be great. After reading many expert and purchaser reviews, it came down to the Samsung QN90A 75”, or the LG C1 77”. Because my room is well lit by large windows, I chose the Samsung, which can get brighter than the LG.
Big mistake.
As you can plainly see in the included pictures, the screen reflection is entirely terrible and completely unacceptable on the Samsung. After searching more thoroughly through reviews, we discovered the telling description of the Samsung: “the rainbow effect.” While the Samsung picture does get exceptionally bright, the screen reflection from indirect and direct lighting demands your attention and is mind boggling. It stretches all the way across the screen in bizarre formations. (The two sets of grayish-blue, sheet like light formations are from windows to the left causing indirect light.) Fortunately, Best Buy is true to their guarantee (as we have always found), and we have swapped the Samsung for the LG.
The difference is terrific—not simply regarding the reflection on the LG C1 (which is muted and normal), but the picture is considerably better. Skin tones are more real, bright areas are not blown out as they sometimes were on the Samsung but handled perfectly, and shadow details and scenes with a multitude of lighting challenges are noticeably better and simply dazzling. And the LG gets plenty bright! We are amazed and very happy.
We had the Samsung for nearly three weeks, and now the LG for ten days, so we’re confident in our assessment and review of the two. I've included four pics of the Samsung reflection, and one of the LG for comparison. We hope this helps you.

This tv is awesome!!!! Just a word of caution, mine had some apparent banding that i could see sometimes even when watching movies/shows when it was a grayish/darker scenes or background. It drove me crazy and i was bout to return it, but then i researched online how oleds usually have banding issues and alot of times clears itself up after you watch it many hours. So I put 2 days 4+hrs each day 9 hours total(every 4hours of watch time the tv automatically does 1hr pixel refreshes to itself per day while turned off) of watch time on it and woke up the next day and turned it on and the banding strip that drove me crazy was completely GONE!! The tv fixed itself.
I used echo tv stand feet so i could use a soundbar and it matches the tv perfectly!
The picture is amazing and bright enough for my living room, i actually had to turn the brightness down. I tried the CX first but had some minor black crush and some software issues. This C1 improved and doesn't have any of the issues i had with the Cx and seems even brighter to me and handles motion better. Definitely worth the extra money over the Cx too me. But both are fantastic tvs.

Very happy with the new TV. I had a 55" CX before this, but moved to a bigger apartment that had room for a bigger screen. It was worth the upgrade for sure. Watching movies or playing games on this bigger 77" screen gives that immersive feeling now. The picture quality is stunning for all content.
I prefer the designs on Sony and Samsnung OLEDs, but i went with LG because it has the upper hand for gaming performance. Software is mostly similar to previous models, but love the new upgraded features like the nvidia controls and a few other things i cant remember right now.
Very premium tv and not a bad price, considering what the other quality OLED tvs are going for. Now i just need to find more time to use it xD

I bought this tv as it was one of the highest rated TV’s for gaming. It absolutely does not disappoint in this regard. I tried the Sony X90J and ran into issues with playing PC games in 4K/HDR/120hz/ATMOS(I had sound going silent every 15 minutes and flashing black screen periodically). But the LG I have had no issues with playing with those same settings, plus this TV plays nicer with my Samsung sound bar as well.
But boy oh boy does this tv look great. The OLED really shines in its quality. Space never looked so great in the outer wolds!
And lastly, all the HDMI ports being 2.1 is great. Other brands have 1 or 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, which really limits how many devices you can get the full 4K/120/HDR from. Now I don’t even have to think about it.
It’s worth the investment!

I upgraded from a 2016 Samsung LED 3D tv. That tv has been amazing for me, but I needed something for my next Generation consoles. After watching many YouTube videos I selected the 77 inch C1. All I can say is this this tv is as advised. The SDR content looks HD. The HDR and Dolby Atmos is out of this world. I did some gaming and this is the best gaming tv around. Four 2.1 HDMI ports was the icing on the cake. Don’t think just buy this tv!!

This is my 3rd OLED that I have purchased from Best Buy… I have a 55”, 65”, and just purchased the 77” C1 (and it is huge). These tv’s have the truest picture of any tv’s on the market, the black levels are impressive to say the least. I am not going to provide data to support this review, it is simply my visual observation and my experience with these tv’s. I had my 65” calibrated but I honestly don’t see the need to do it with this tv….the colors are amazing. Many rave about the Sony OLED’s…. I am sticking with the original manufacturer, they have not disappointed! Best tv’s I have ever owned.

It’s the best gaming tv out there currently in this size
120hz gsync & freesync. Auto HDR. Dolby vision for gaming & movies. Variable refresh rate for ultra smooth gaming. HDMI 2.1 all over the place. Oh & it also plays movies VERY VERY well. The magic remote is improved over previous renditions. The OS is still great & snappy. Smart features are better & improved over previous versions. Get the 77 if you can as it’s the best bang for the buck. Photo is of forza 5 via Xbox.
