The drive: Light, good looking, quiet, does everything it says it will do. The installation: I used the included double USB cable to connect the drive to a Toshiba Satellite running Windows 8.1 and without any further requirements, and with no noise or lights on the drive, an icon for the drive appeared in Windows Explorer, and the drive was functional to read and write data. I tested CD and DVD reading and writing and it seems up to it's specs and is reasonably quiet. The Software: I installed the included software and was able to watch Blu-ray and DVD movies. I have not yet tried all that the software is capable of beyond that. All included software is upgradable for a price, but I am happy with it as it is.

great addition to the new laptops we just purchased. we love the option to play blue ray as well as play dvds, cds, and cd-writer. very nice unit, our computers recognized the drive right away.

Bought this one based on the sales person's recommendation. Only upgrade could have been Blu-ray writer. At this time, I have no reason to write to Blu-ray, so I stayed with this model. Software is finicky, does not always recognize a disc I load, sometimes need to reload,. Works for what I need it for - would have preferred to have an internal drive - not many laptops have them anymore.

Had to purchase an external drive since the new laptop does not have one. The sales person recommended this one. It is good, not great. Had issues with software, messages from LG pop up every time you start the computer. Very annoying. I researched it and found others had the same issue. Had to disable a setting in the software. It works, wish that I did not have to purchase it, would prefer an internal drive.

I needed an external drive for my lap top. Love that I can burn disc and also play Dvd's. Easy to use and lightweight!

It's great, I was able to see my cousins wedding from Europe. Since it's not in NTSC format, I couldn't view the Blu-ray discs on my regular Blu-ray player. This converted the format to the US format so that my family and I could watch the entire wedding for less. If I were to covert the discs it would have cost me well over $200.00. Great product! Well worth the money spent for less.

The drive was easy to install and works great. If you're in the market for an external bluray drive this is a good choice.

i use this to boot to when servicing servers to restore disk images, etc - works well. also plays blu-rays when plugged directly into my samsung smart tv.

My Apple computer drive gave up and would have cost me twice the price of the LG drive to fix it. It's faster has more features and accepts Blue Ray.

My son asked us to buy this for him. He loves to watch movies but didn't want a tv in his dorm room as it would take up too much space. With this external drive, he can watch movies on his laptop and, he says, it does so much more, too. He loves it. It took him a little while to get it working/connected but said it wasn't really difficult. All in all, he's very pleased with it, and we thought the price was reasonable (approx $80), especially for a dorm-room item. He's had it for about two months now, and we haven't heard any complaints.

This external Dvd±rw/±R/CD-RW was a great purchase! It was exactly what I was looking for. Works great! It is compatible with Windows 10 too.

Bought new computer without CD drive, needed this device to enter a program. Only problem now is, every time we turn on the computer, it asks over and over again each time we start the computer, if we want to use that device, but it's been disconnected from the computer for weeks now. Very annoying!

This external drive is sleek in design and is the best value for the money. I am quite impressed with the capabilities and recommend this external drive for those who have a laptop or notebook without an internal drive. The extra capabilities to plug into a TV and change the attributes to make it seem like a flash drive is unite impressive.

Reasonably priced for function provided. It gives my docked SurfacePro3 the CD/DVD capability it needs. It was truly plug and play.

I've used this drive multiple times already, from installing programs to watching Blu-Ray movies. It works and it's quiet. The burner works quite well. Some of the reviews I've read said that it doesn't burn blu-rays... Well, they're right, it doesn't. It not supposed to. This drive only burns CDs and DVDs. There is a model available that does burn blu-rays if that's what you want.

I love the portability of this player/writer. It gets its power from the USB, another great feature. Its small footprint and being powered by usb will make it easy to take on a trip with my laptop. Nowadays most laptops don't include an internal optical drive. This one makes it easier to tolerate the lack of.
