This is definitely the UST projector you want for a dedicated Home Theater in your home. If you want to optimize the full capability and amazing picture that this projector has to offer, make sure you only let the pros from the Geek Squad that truly know USTs and the precise install and setup that is needed and you will be completely satisfied. The picture for this LG UST is incredible, whether streaming or using an over air HD antenna to watch NFL/College football games on Fox, CBS, ABC, or NBC. Definitely recommend, you will love it!

Disclaimer: This is the only projector I have owned. I’m building a dedicated theater room and this was perfect for my space. Great picture quality, really bright and looks decent in semi lit room (with UST screen). The picture quality is outstanding in a dark room. Manufacturer claims true: 120” screen when projector is 7” from screen! Seems well built and looks really good. Using external speakers, but internal would be fine for average size living room. My only gripe is the built in fans seem loud but not noticeable during most movies. Also white is a strange choice of color for a theater projector. Assuming that was a fashion over function decision. Review photos show picture quality and color in various lighting scenarios.

I really enjoy this thing! It’s amazing and looks great. Bought it open box for a crazy crazy discount, not sure I would pay over 5k for it but it’s amazing nonetheless

I have two other LG short throw projectors which are both 1080P and I love them both. I decided to upgrade to 4K and when the price dropped I decided to purchase this one. Overall I really like this projector; it is a lot brighter than the previous LG projectors that I have. The picture quality is amazing and I know that LG makes a good product which is why I decided to go with their projector versus the Vava or the Samsung or any other manufacturer’s short throw projector. The only minor complaint that I would have is that this projector does not have eARC (but does have ARC) and there are only two HDMI connections. But both of these issues can be overcome with some external devices. The last minor complaint that I have is I don’t believe that this projector does Dolby Vision but that is not a reason to not get this projector. I am really a fan of the short throw projectors because they are easy to set up and they don’t require mounting overhead. The price may seem high but compared to projectors that you would have bought a decade ago, the price point is excellent. Also the technology has come so far on these devices. I would recommend getting this especially if you want something simple to set up. One last comment I would make would be regarding the noise from the projector. There is noise that comes from the projector but it blends in to the background when you are watching a movie and you don’t notice the noise. My older projectors have a much louder and high pitched sound than the newer one and I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the sound from the new projector. Again I would still recommend this projector to anybody who might be looking to get it.

    The Best Ultra-Short Throw Projector

This projector is, in my opinion, one of the best currently on the market. What the LG HU85LA provides is a setup that does not require running wires through the ceiling as all it needs is to be a few inches from the wall to project up to a 120" image. And that image is impeccable in its quality and that is coming from someone who owns an OLED TV with perfect blacks and perfect contrast. For the OLED owners worried about missing out on the perfect blacks I can assure you that the blacks are dark. Yes, if you look closely you will notice the imperfections but you can only ask so much from a projector. As for the color accuracy this projector is just as amazing with superb color accuracy minus the few instances where very vibrant reds look slightly orange. And the higher chipset that requires less bit shifts to create a 4K image makes for a very clean and sharp picture. Yes, it is not pure 4K as the image needs to shift to get it there but you will have to spend over $20,000 to get a projector that can do that. Without question I cannot recommend this projector enough and with that I wanted to address some of the issues people have had with this device. The first is obviously the price. No way around it, $6000 is a lot of money and while I was more than happy with the quality of the product it will depend on how much you are willing to pay. I will admit that I wish they had just left the sound bar out and reduced the price as it is only acceptable and you will more than likely have a better sound system anyway. People have also complained about the box being white and distracting during the movie. I'll be blunt, it's not distracting. Unless you have a terrible attention span and cannot focus on the screen it will just fad into the background once the movie starts. Another thing you will not notice once the movie starts is the coil whine. Yes, this projector has it and while it is noticeable when you turn the projector on you will not notice it once the movies starts except for the scenes where literally nothing is happening. Overall, I cannot recommend this projector enough. If you are in the market for an ultra-short throw projector with a superb picture and if you are willing to pay the price of admission do yourself a favor and demo this projector as you will not be disappointed.

I may have gotten a bad unit as the top and the sides as you went towards the top of the image were incredibly wavy. I've been told that it could be imperfections in my wall and that you need an absolutely flat surface since this is a short throw projector. However, in the spots that weren't wavy, I could not tell that 4K was way better than a 1080 projector that I've used the last 5-6 years. So, for this much money, it just wasn't worth it to me.
