I bought this device 1 month back from best buy valley stream store on Sept 7th 2017. After a month of use, the device button, which is the finger print and lock button failed. It scans and read my fingerprint but same button is used for the lock, it failed. I tried reset/rebot, long press/short press and even double tap. It never locks my screen. The device turns off the screen by itself.

I purchased this phone because I researched that it was unlocked for both GSM and CDMA so I could use it in Mexico. However, that is not the case. My SIM card works just fine because I had it checked at my provider however, the phone does not all calls or texts message so it's just an overpriced tablet. When I called customer service they told me I just need to go to my provider.

We're happy to clarify this. The phone is unlocked and is available for use on any networks which use the following frequencies: LTE Band: 2/3/4/5/7/12/13/17/20/25; CDMA Band Class: 0/1; UMTS Bands 1/2/4/5/8; GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz However, if any specific carrier restricts the used of devices, we do have to confirm that you would need to reach out to the carrier directly to address this.

I purchased the unlocked version to use on Cricket Mobile and switched it to Simple Mobile. For 250$ its a really good deal.
First the pros:
The screen is a nice 2K screen with good color. A great screen for gaming, movies, and using VR is fun. Even in direct sunlight I could see the screen just fine. I like how my photos came out better than my old Iphone SE. The wide angle lens is great. Although if you hold it too close to the lens you can accidentally have your finger in the shot. It has a ton of manual control for those that want to get the pictures just right. Laser focusing was fast.
The fingerprint scanner works real fast and it's in a good spot. I've never had an issue where i mistakenly touched the camera lens instead of the fingerprint scanner.
The speakers are surprisingly loud and sound doesn't break apart at full volume. Calls are clear as a bell.
Cons:
I noticed a fair amount of light bleed from the corners and edges. I only noticed because I like to have a simple black background as a wallpaper. I thought that my phone may have had contact with a magnet, seeing as they can mess up your screen but no. It was just plain old light leakage coming from the corners and edges. It really is only noticeable on a black screen. During movies and other colors it's hardly noticeable.
If your are planning to get this phone specifically for the LG Friend attachments, I think you'll be disappointed. The DAC isn't available for US phones. The Cam Plus attachment doesn't do anything more that what you can already do in phone but it does a great job as a second battery. And with the added bulk it won't fit in my case. I have the 360 cam coming in the mail but if you aren't a photo enthusiast its a pretty hefty price.
But for 250$ it is worth the price to me. Expandable storage, replaceable battery, 2k screen with great camera, a phone that I plan on using for a few years.

After my 3 months used brand new phone accidentally gone, I was desperately needed an affordable phone which can fulfill my all requirements. This phone had most of the cutting edge tech similar to flagship phone but in much cheaper range.
Thumbs Up:
1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Processor (Blazing Fast)
2. 4 GB RAM (Smoother operation)
3. Dual Rear Cameras - 16 MP Standard Angle & 8 MP 135 degree Wide Angle Lens (Excellent Photo Quality), 8 MP super selfie
4. Micro SD card supported, 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC, Bluetooth all embedded (Convenient Usage)
5. 5.3" IPS Quantum QHD Display with QHD resolution (2560 X 1440) (Glorious Screen and display)
6. Easy Replaceable battery with fast quick charger in the box (Removable battery added bonus)
7. Modular unique metal body design
8. Fingerprint sensor, 8X Zoom with Always ON display feature
9. Tons of camera mode and features to make photos lively, crisp and vivid (Excellent Camera photo quality)
10. Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box for smoother software experience.
11. Universal Unlocked, supports almost all bands across major countries. (Complete peace of mind)
12. GSM or CDMA both network supported (wider options)
13. Plenty of Smart Enhanced settings for ease of use and convenience.
Thumbs Down:
-----------------
1. No Water Resistant although hardly any other phone at this price range provides this.
All of these flagship features are coming within 230$ only. I can't ask more comparing the price I have paid. It's all win here..
My effort hours and much research before deciding this phone finally paid off. I am highly satisfied and happy with this Phone.

I bought the phone outright for $400. The G6 is coming out soon, but the G5 just got an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat and it still has specs comparable or better to phones being released in 2017. The Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM is perfect and the 16 Megapixel camera with 2160P recording capability is fantastic! This phone is modular and designed to easily let you swap the battery for a spare. Best Buy had an online special when I ordered, so it came with a free spare modular battery and an extra charging dock for the batteries as well. The battery itself lasts me almost all day. From snapping random pics for Google Maps to playing Pokemon Go randomly throughout the day. The phone also charges through a v3.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector and sports USB On-The-Go (OTG), so I can plug in thumb drives to access my data for work on the go or fast charge the battery to over 80% in thirty minutes. It also supports keyboards certain hard disk drive, a mouse and various other peripherals via USB or Bluetooth. The calls are Crystal clear and it supports Wi-Fi calling for a better, clearer phone call experience. 10/10 would but LG again!

Bought this phone for 375$ in an offer including extra battery bundle. So far so good. Can't complaint. Size is not too big, nice fit in hands and light weight. Camera and display is decent. I prefer having Removable battery and I like it. Switch on/off button on back finger print sensor is something new. Hardware specs are awesome. I recently got Android assistant on it and it's great. This model may not be big hit and it's successor G6 is more awesome and coming soon, I still prefer this phone as I don't want to spend 700-800$ on phone

It was not my plan to get a new phone until those technicians in a third-party store malfunctioned the SIM card reader of my great Nexus 5 while fixing the power button several months ago (well, thank you, so now I have a great Nexus 5 that can do everything but making a phone call). I had to get a new phone, as soon as possible, even though I knew that quite a few new models were rolling out right after MWC but I couldn't wait. I am always not a big fan of those "fancy" (aka overpriced) phones like iPhone or Galaxy S#, and just want one that is reliable and endurable that gets the job done, like my old Nexus 5. I then realized this LG G5, a used-to-be flagship of LG more than a year ago, was undergoing a then non-negligible (and now amazing) discount ($400 when I got it and now $300), for two reasons: first, the next generation G6 was about to be on the market after MWC; and second, the modular design including swappable batteries was considered stupid both by the majority and even LG itself. Hey, but this was indeed a flagship model: metalic body, fantastic dual rear cameras, 2K screen, top-tier (though not literally the best) processers, Type-C port, fingerprint reader... It was definitely a great deal. Plus, I got an extra battery and a very slick portable charger. (not sure whether it is included now or not.) The downside? LG was bragging about its extendibility because of its modular design such as a camera accessary and such. Well, nobody uses those features (and hence the discounts), and most importantly, the battery capacity has to be compromised for the modular design and there is no way LG can make the phone waterproof while flagships by others are waterproof. (And LG did realize its stupidity so the battery of G6 cannot be swapped.) Of course, for those Nexus users like me, I have to deal with the built-in bloatware, not as pleasant as the original Google experience especially I was really enjoying my Nexus 5 but had to give it up. It took me some time to get used to a phone without Google Now but it is fine now. Another downside, you won't get Android update as soon as it is released. But all these are compared to the Nexus experience, and it should be comparable to other Android phones, but unfortunately I have never owned a smart phone not manufactured by LG so I cannot say too much about the software experience (well, Nexus 5 was also by LG). I don't play games on cell, and so far I have never seen my phone freezing. I do clean up the memory or power off the phone once a month or so. I believe that it is more enough for daily browsing, social networks, emails, mobile banking, online shopping, etc.. I usually charges my phone daily or bi-daily (daily is like I listen to music all day or uses camera or Google Maps too often on a trip). The battery is not huge in capacity but enough for productivity activities.
So if you value daily uses than state-of-the-art "black-magic" and don't mind getting an old model, this is a serious option to consider. Do take care of it as there might not be many spare parts available like screens should you break it.

This phone excels in a few areas and is on par with much more expensive phones in every other area. The cameras are fantastic, they take very detailed photos and having a wide angle camera is a nice addition when taking landscapes. The pop out technique is a little gimmicky but fun sometimes. The responsiveness is awesome, I thought it may not be as quick as an octa core phone but it is just as good. It may be the extra memory that helps it work just as well. You can update it to android 7 nougat as soon as you connect it to the internet. This phone can ruin multiple apps at the same time without any noticeable lag, and doing so is easy with split screen. Being able to remove the battery and replace it is an awesome advantage, since you can replace the battery when it's near the end of its useable life and not holding a charge to well. This may be a previous generation phone but it is still excellent, its nicer than many mid range phones and on par with many of the high end phones today. I do not regret this purchase one bit, an excellent mobile phone.

A Bargain of an Android Smartphone

There is no better value for your money in an Android smartphone than the LG G5 right now! $250!!! In a new era of $850-999 phones, this is a deal that can't be beaten. With the flagship processor of 2016 and early 2017, it's speed is uncompromised, still ranking 25th in major benchmarks including phones such as the Galaxy S8 and iPhone. New phones in this price range such as the Moto G5s Plus lag far behind. The dual camera set up on the LG G5 is superior. The second lens is wide-angle which is much more useful than an additional monochrome lens or a paltry 2x zoom lens. Whatsmore the primary lens is optically stabilized, reducing blur significantly better than software solutions. Not to mention it is an aesthetically beautiful phone without the plastic antenna lines of others. Be unique! Be different. Buy a phone that was underrated in its time but continues to perform. It is speculated that this phone will receive an Android Oreo upgrade as well. LG. Life is Good!

Before this phone, I had a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I thought I'd be disappointed when switching to an LG, but I was pleasantly surprised. The camera quality is better and the processor is way faster. The phone has no issues quickly switching through apps and crashes are rare and usually on the app end, rather than the phone end. The battery life lasts me pretty much the entire day and the screen's brightness and colors are great. The speakers get decently loud and I haven't had any issues with sound quality. Overall, I love this phone. It seems like it'd be fragile and break when dropped, so I bought an Otterbox case for it. I've dropped it a few times since then, but the phone is protected. No matter what case you go with, you should definitely get one because of how thin this phone is.

I'll tell you what, I was very surprised at how great this phone really is for being a year old, and not being one of the quote-unquote flagship phones... The Samsung Galaxy, or, iPhone, Note, excetera. Great camera, awesome looking screen... The aluminum casing and the overall feel of the phone make it feel like I can only describe it as presidential. I love this phone and wouldn't give it up for the iPhone or the galaxies... You guys can keep your $1,000 phones I'll keep my $250 unlocked LG G5 and do everything you can and more thank you guys love you Best Buy!

I had the LG G3 and loved it, then tried the V10-only complaint there was the battery life being poorly matched to the features on the device. After going through a terrible experience with the Samsung S7 Active and trying out the Moto Z Play I came around to this device and gave it a shot. I am so glad I did, I truly love this phone and the features, while not necessarily ambitious, are high quality and dependable. The camera quality is very nice and the colors are beautiful. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

at the price of 299, this phone is really better than anything at the price. it runs smooth, camera is good, the size is good, feels solid.
The modularity of it is gimmicky and pointless but doesn't bother me since I don't use it
battery life is average at best, nothing special.

I had the Lg G3 for 3 years, but as you know they update their systems and so forth my phone needed to be replaced. So I started looking at the LG G5 and 6. I was really worried which was going to be the better pick but I'm glad I went with the G5 its easy to use. And the different camera functions are amazing. I feel like a professional phographer! I still havent gotten through all the functions, but I plan to. Great phone!

I sold my I phone 6s because of the screen size, and decided to go for the g5 for the larger screen and small frame. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money so the g5 had all the newer features I wanted. So far it has been fine. Quite good camera, and battery life is fine, all day no problem..

Purchased LG G5 after a lot of research in the mid-range priced smart phones and I can say that LG G5 is a great phone with extraordinary display QHD, vibrant colors with very good processing speed with 4GB RAM, great Camera with additional features. It has everything that a regular user would expect from a smart phone. It also has Infrared transmitter which I regularly use to control my Samsung TV and also Xfinity DVR/cable box. Works great! Owned it for couple of weeks and can tell it makes an awesome phone for the great price! I also recently got the extra battery charging cradle which I'm using to swap the battery so I don't need to plug my phone into the charger. I also got the "Geek Squad Protection" which is essential for me as it eliminates the hassle of dealing with the phone manufacturer whenever there is an issue (especially hardware issue). I had bad experiences where I would be without phone for weeks while its being repaired by the manufacturer. So, to me, "Geek squad protection" is very helpful.

Fast, compact, has all the features I want. Immediately upgraded the OS to 7.0 (Nougat) Saved money by not having to have the newest phone, and still got all the advantages. Strongly recommend if you like LG phones. I like that they took the volume control off the back and put it on the side. I also like the activate button on the back. That way one is less likely to turn the screen off or on by mistake.
