Customers are saying

Customers highly value the PF50KA 1080p Wireless Smart DLP Portable Projector's picture quality, portability, and compact size. Many appreciate its Bluetooth connectivity and quiet operation, while some found the brightness insufficient in well-lit environments and the remote control could be improved. A few users also noted challenges with focus and compatibility with certain devices. The price point was also a factor for some customers.

    Amazing Performance! Clunky remote.

I absolutely love the performance of this projector! It is replacing my Wowoto battery operated predictor that froze up on me. This LG has amazing clarity and brightness. I recently used it to host a movie night outdoors for my son's sleepover birthday party. The Bluetooth sync to my ION tailgater was excellent (my Wowoto had delays) but had occasional dropouts in sound even though only 6 feet away. But I'd rather a couple of dropouts than lipsync be off. Inputs on the projector were plentiful though I'm not really sure I'll ever use the coax or the TV tuner, but it's nice to know I have the option. A few gripes I have that cost it a star for me are: 1) every time I boot it up, it comes up with signal error cause it's looking for an antenna to be hooked up. It always defaults to TV tuner on boot. I'm sure there is a way to disable that or have it default to input but I haven't found it yet. 2) the remote control is clunky when operating the GUI menu. Too many buttons on the remote and navigation response seems slow on the GUI. 3) Finally the one big pain point I have is this LG projector does not work with wireless display (WiDi/mirroring) on my Lenovo Yoga 2pro. During a scan my laptop finds the projector but then never completes the handshake and drops it. After a lot of googling it seems like this is a problem on all the LG projectors and many Lenovo laptops. Not sure why but I tried everything and I have a strong Technical IT background. Thought the wireless mirroring works well on my Samsung Galaxy S9+, I tally would like my laptop to work without wires. That's why I took off a star. Overall though I'm very pleased with this projector. I know I'm soon due for a new laptop and now will have to make sure it works with this projector before I buy. I really wish LG would resolve the issue which seems to be ongoing.

I got it while it was on sale for $200 off and after owning it for two months I would still buy it at full price. It is a completely self sustaining projector. Has every kind of port you need on the back, it can work connected to power or on its own built-in battery for a couple of hours. It comes with the LG app store so and has things like youtube and netflix built right in! It does have a built in speaker but has options like using LGsync for bluetooth speaker connection or other ports(8mm jack) for output. It can even power our roku from one of its own usb ports in the back so we don't have to run power to the roku stick. Mounts well with portable tripod and clear even when pushing past its 100 foot screen size. Truly a best buy!

Pretty good quality, not compatible with iPhone since LG is an android platform. But connecting to a Chromebook was simple, used the projector for football games and concert live streams. For the price, the picture quality is pretty good!

I have a few projectors in my collection and this one is really exceptional. The built in DTV makes it ideal for a large screen replacement. The built in battery lasts a decent amount of time. The USB C connection can be used for video or charging the unit. Highly recommended for those not interested in 4K and also wants something you can run games and power point

Maaaaaan....aThis Projector is clear. With my Chromecast, I easily stream and I paired it up with my 3D PILE SOUND BAR. Instant theatrical home simulation. I've traveled with I. I used a 100" 16:9 screen and 75" screen and there was no noticable washing out of the images! When I paired with my LG Blu Ray player and tested the image on the Godzilla/ King Smackdown, I forgot I was in my living room when I paired it with my LG WIRELESS SPEAKERS and Subwoofer.

We don’t have a basement so we made the garage the man cave. Installed surround, trimmed out a screen on the wall with theatre screen paint. Screen is about 11’. My LG projector bit the dust. It was 10+ years old. We bought the new one today and got it hooked up. The picture is amazingly clear and bright. I hope I get to enjoy this one even longer. I bought LG because of the LED lamp. LCD lamps don’t like dust and that’s an issue in a garage. Plus the lamp life of LED is much longer. Very happy so far.

    Projector on our camping trip

After doing a lot of research and trying to get the most for our money we decided to get this projector! It does work wirelessly but we mainly use it with connection to outlet, so we don’t know how long the charge will last. Set up was easy, wifi pairing non problematic, we have used the netflix App incorporated in this device without issues and no lagging. We are an Apple family users and I do believe this projector is not compatible with IOS but that wasn’t an issues for us, worse case we would use our laptop(non iOS) or buy a small tablet compatible with this system. Apple has way to many restrictions and needs Apple TV or something to mirror anyways. We went camping this past weekend and connected the projector to our laptop via HDMI and it immediately mirrored our screen. Projector worked great for our pay per view UFC McGregor fight, which attracted about 20-25 other campers in the area lol. Even with them being in the back by the parking lots they were able to clearly see the fight , we have the projector on a 120” screen and this device can easily do bigger without issues to the resolution. We bought the Elite Screens Yardmaster2 120” outdoor projector screen which we also bought at bestbuy. Set up for screen was a breeze, we had zero issues, built in minutes and I like the bag it comes with which also includes a separate zippered bag just for the screen . Highly recommend if you are looking for a screen to use with your projector!

Great purchase! I have it connected to my LG bluetooth kareoke home speaker. The projector only has 2 hdmi inputs, so i got an hdmi splitter and can connect more. The other hdmi input is connected to an av rca to hdmi converter, which itself is connected to an av rca splitter and can also connect more. I currently have an apple tv, ps4, laserdisc, ps2, ps3, sega saturn, and vcr connected. Only downside is the lumen output brightness. Definitely cannot see image with minimal sunlight creeping in. I got black out curtains from ikea dirt cheap and they make a huge difference.

This is the one. It’s 1080p and has smart capabilities. It’s also bright but if you turn on the lights it dims (as all others do as well). I was very pleased with the material used, it’s solid overall. Although it doesn’t have airplay and certain updated apps already integrated, such as Disney plus, an easy fix is the chromecast.

    Fully Feature Projector for Anyone

The LG PF50KA CineBeam projector is an incredible projector that anyone could find useful; however, it is very suited to those who have already or are considering cutting the cable TV/satellite subscription cord of which I am one. In addition, this projector has quite a few nice surprises that makes what at first seems like a high price point into a true value prospect. This review will occur in 3 parts – Tech Specs, Usage Impressions, and pros/cons: Tech Specs Even though each of you can read the tech specs from the product description page, let me point out a few key specs that I find to be key to this projector and its value proposition. First – this is a FULL HD projector with a 1920X1080 resolution. Second, this projector is a LED RGB driven projector with a lamp life of up to 30,000 hours – which equates to 3750 days with 8 hours of usage per day assuming you made it to the full lamp life – that is over 10 years! Second, this projector is equipped with LG Smart TV content that is built on LG WebOS – which is a Linux kernel-based multitasking operating system for smart devices – such as TVs and projectors and allows the projector to act as a streaming device, which means it does have WiFi and well as Bluetooth. Third, as this is cool for the cord-cutters – it has a Digital TV tuner built-in – which means that one can connect an antenna and get local over-the-air channels for your tv viewing pleasure, without having to get another device to tune the stations for you. The fourth and final key feature for me is that this projector has a 12,000 mAh battery- yes you read that correctly it has a battery – that provides up to 2.5 hours of projection without needing a power cord. Now for the other tech specs – it has, in addition to the Digital TV Turner it has 2 HDMI, 1 USB Type A (for use as a DivX, MP3, presentation file, and Photo source), a USB Type C (allows FHD video transfer and display from compatible devices, as well as laptop/mobile device charging, all at the same time over a single cable), LAN connector, and audio out via a 3.5mm connector (see pictures for a look at the connector panel). The backplane also has a power switch (switching to on puts the projector in standby mode) and DC power connector ports as well as a security lock port. The top of the unit has channel and volume controls, the Focus Ring and a power toggle button on the top. The bottom of the unit has an adjustable leg and a standard ¼” Tripod mounting hole. Usage Impressions My wife and I have been using a projector as our TV for about 1.5 years and we’ll likely never buy another TV because we find it to be the best viewing option for the money. Thus, this projector is very appealing for the capabilities discussed above. I have found this projector to be a high-value device and very useful. I currently have this device set up in my office with it projecting a 91-92” diagonal screen with a projection distance of 10 feet, 8 inches. The 600 Lumens rating for this projector means that the room needs to be lightly lit or dark for the screen to not be slightly washed out (see images accompanying this review for a darkened room vs a lit room). The picture is clear and shows no projection issues and the system has both an auto keystone and manual keystone correction capabilities. Since this projector has Smart TV functions, I tested these out via a WiFi connection and these were enabled without issues. Installation of the Hulu app was done with ease. I will state that the number of apps available are limited and having more would increase its value. YouTube, Hulu, and Netflix are the most notable apps. The projector has a variety of audio connection capabilities in addition to a built-in 1W+1W speaker. The speaker is a little light and on the tinny side. However, the projector does have Bluetooth capabilities that I was able to test with a sound bar that I own, and it worked great. One key thing to know about this projector is that there are no controls on the projector itself. So, you must either have the remote or you can use your smartphone – but this must be set up beforehand to be used. On a final note, I will state that this projector is a high quality and sturdy device that was accidentally tested as the power cord was tripped on and the projector took a fall to the floor while it was on and no issues have been noted as a result. Pros: Features/Capabilities (TV tuner, Battery), Portability, Quality, Performance Cons: Built-in speaker, lack of interface on the projector, limited app availability

The LG CineBeam is a compact, extremely versatile video projector. It measures 7 inches by 7 inches by 2 inches not counting the power cable and transformer. Rear panel connectivity options includes a LAN port, two HDMI ports, USB 2.0 port, coaxial cable antenna/cable port, and USB-C port. It has a built-in tuner, so it can tune over-the-air broadcasts in addition to cable or set-top box sources. It is equipped with stereo speakers. It can connect to a wireless network. In short, it can connect in pretty much every way there is to connect. It is equipped with a battery, so it can used where no connection to AC power is available. It is first and foremost a projector. The first thing you might think of for using it is for large-screen projection of a presentation stored on a laptop computer, and it can certainly do this. The picture quality is excellent. It is also an excellent candidate for use as a home theater projector. One drawback is that there is no height adjustment. If the image is too low on the screen or wall or whatever you’re projecting on, you will have to find something to set it on. It does have a standard threaded tripod mount like what you find on cameras on the bottom, so it can be mounted that way. It is light enough that tripod mounting should not be a problem. It’s small size and light weight make it an excellent candidate for use as a portable projector, but the lack of height adjustment would need to be kept in mind. Out of the box, the unit is easy to set up. Put the included batteries in the included remote control and then simply plug it in and turn it on. It will take you through setup menus for time, date, location, and sources of programming. It is helpful to have whatever sources you intend to use connected at the time of setup so that the unit can detect them, but sources can be added later as well. During my tests, I used the HDMI connection and my laptop computer as the audio and video source. The unit can be controlled from your smartphone with an installed app. It can retrieve and play audio and video installed on your smartphone once connected through the app. As is often the case for modern electronics these days, the included instruction manual is minimal. Along with many pages of safety instructions and do’s and don’t’s, it tells you how to plug it in and turn it on. The manual suggests downloading the 170-page full user manual from the LG website, and I concur. I am not able to touch on every type of capability this unit has in the space of this review, so reading through the full manual is a must to get the most out of it. Having said all of the above, the primary consideration in choosing this unit for your projector needs is what will you use it for, and there are two categories of choice. If your goal is to use it as a projector for Powerpoint presentations and the like, then it will spend most of its time in your briefcase or backpack, and you will mostly be taking advantage of its portability and using it in hotel conference rooms or client offices or whatever. You’ll likely never use about 80% of its connectivity capabilities. After all, if used like this, how likely are you to be connecting it to television sources, wireless networks, or pairing it with your smartphone to view your favorite Youtube videos? If all you need is a projector for connection to a computer, and not for a home entertainment system, this unit is overkill. On the other hand, if your goal is to use it as the basis of a home theater or home video system, then it is likely that you’ll mount in one location (ceiling, shelf, etc.) and leave it there more or less permanently. In this case, it’s light weight and small size, and thus its portability, are not as important, although the smaller it is, the more versatile it can be in termos of mounting options. But it will function wonderfully as the basis of a home theater/home video system. So make your purchase decision carefully. Whatever use you have in mind, this unit will work great. Just make sure that you’re not buying more features than you can use.

Crystal Clear projection on the go...

Quick Thoughts: Beautiful picture from a small and portable projector. Feature rich with some shortfalls. Pros: - Small footprint - tons of inputs - built in hd OTA tuner - 1080P sharpness - colors pop - visible in sunlit room (not direct sunlight) - has smart apps built in - webOs interface is excellent - uses a dslr camera mount at the bottom ( was able to put on tripod - built in speakers - interface response is fast Cons: - remote is not backlit - don't lose remote because the on unit buttons are horrible - very loud and audible during quite scenes or quite room - no auto focus - halo border around picture is distracting and tends to make picture look like a trapezoid (keystone correction) - no way to adjust size of picture without moving projector - right angle cord flat cord makes it hard to plug into recessed power box (can swap this portion with regular plug) - voice recognition would of been awesome - No lens cap or carrying case/pouch included Overall Thoughts: The LG PF50KA 1080P wireless smart DLP projector delivers crystal clear viewing on pretty much any surface you project it on. Feature rich projector with youtube, netflix, hulu, to name a few included in the WebOs interface. I used my windows 10 pc to extend my desktop without wire to the projector. Very cool feature not included in a lot of the home theater projectors I have seen. I was able to use the projector in a sun lit room and the display was easily visible. The colors and sharpness could not be appreciated as much as when the room was darkened or viewing at night in a theater like atmosphere. I took off one star for the very important shortfall. There is no picture shape adjustment other than ratio. I was unable to change image size without moving projector. So if you have a movie room with a fixed location for your projector it might not be an ideal location for the screen size. When you look at the LG website, the users have the projector sitting in front of them. That's a little different than how most people setup projectors at home. Gaming, music videos, movies, all look amazing. It is great that you can use this as a stand alone unit. Also includes Bluetooth audio connectivity. Can't wait to watch a movie outside during a pool party.
