I was having problems with my wifi reaching the bedrooms. I looked at a lot of extenders and the reviews on this one were really good. Just a few so so reviews sprinkled in. After my experience the so so reviews were dead on. Setup was a breeze, but the area where the program had me place the extender was pretty close to my router. I have a little better signal in the bedrooms. Enough to do what I need.

Hi, Forty,
Based on your description, it looks like you are referring to the Spot Finder feature of the RE6500. This helps you determine the optimal placement of the unit. However, if you wish to transfer it, then you can. Just ensure that the signal between the router and the range extender will not be compromised. Should you have questions or if you need our assistance, please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can get you over to our Escalation Engineers.

I have since returned this item and found a similar product to meet my needs. A little too much money for the connectivity to fluctuate as much as it did. Your results may differ.

This range extender did what it was supposed to do...but I ended up returning it anyway. My issues were the extender created additional SSID's to be used. When I was in the back of my house, it offered the best signal, but the signal from the front of the house wasn't weak enough for my phone/devices to switch automatically, requiring me to manually change to the range extender SSID anytime I was in the back of the house. Decided to pony up more $$$ and go for the Google WiFi.

Hi, Creech,
We regret to hear that you already returned the RE6500 Extender. We could have properly relocated the extender and synchronized the name to your router's SSID so your wireless devices will automatically switch to the closest and strongest network. Should you have other Linksys device that needs assistance, feel free to tap us anytime at [email protected].

Everything seemed to be straight forward in the install. You need to be a little techie to do it quickly. I have a 2 story home and phone challenges (VOIP). I bought this extender to insure clear calls. To be perfectly honest, it is hard to tell if it made a difference but I am assuming it does.... especially since my new Panasonic phone advertises DECT-6Plus* technology on the phone. The asterisk is, guess what, an extender which I now have and am using with this phone. People say the calls are clearer. So it is great.... I guess.

The setup was rather easy (be sure to follow the exact steps and don't try to 'figure it out on your own').
We had some issues early on where the connections were dropping, however it very well could have been our ISP and not this product. After those issues went away, the device has worked fine. Reaches parts of our house where we did not have signals before.
The unit is small and not bad to place on a shelf as opposed to the ones which plug directly into the outlets. For the extra power, I'd use a shelf unit like this.

Didn’t work for my needs. Speeds only increased by 10mbps in my apartment from my living router to my office. Our unit is only 1,000 sqft and We have very limited access with how thick our walls are and I was expecting this product to help. I did like the idea that I could plug my non wireless devices into it to give them network. However, I Ended up purchasing a whole home WiFi system with the Ethernet ports from TP-LINK and performance is better and I get the speeds I’m paying for everywhere in my unit. Not worth the money.

I've always been a Linksys product guy. They simply just work. I've installed these for myself and lots of family members and friends. If you have a big house or are having issues with getting weak WiFi signals. You'll need to consider getting one of these. It's an easy setup which will extend the WiFi that you place it in.
