The Linksys MAX-STREAM AC1900 Wireless-AC Dual Band Repeater with MU-MIMO is a great product with few limitations. Setup is extremely easy. Even the extreme computer-illiterate should have no problem setting up the repeater. You can setup the repeater as an access point through a wired connection or wireless connection. WPS is an option for setup, however you cannot use this option if our security is set to WEP.
If you have an RJ-45 jack free, I highly recommend using it. Speed tests show that there is not drop in speed if the repeater is wired to your router. However, if using the repeater while wirelessly connected to your router, the speed drops to about 50% of what it would be if connected wirelessly to your router.
All in all, I would highly recommend this product!

Set Up for me was a little awkward. The unit powered on ok. I attempted to follow the instructions and did not initially see the wifi link to select for set up so I manually set this up with the IP Address and manually configured. I do not recommend this if you want seamless roaming. I discovered later, the 2.4 band had self disconnected and would not reconnect. (my Fault) I contacted Linksys for assistance and the problem was solved and I now have seamless roaming from room to room. The extender must import the main router SSID's for both bands for seamless roaming. I now have a great WIFI experience with the RE7000 Extender and the EA9500 Router. These 2 items make a great pair.

The extender's purpose is to extend WiFi to dead zones (areas where the WiFi doesn't reach) in your home. In my case, I have my modem/router installed upstairs, where I spend most of the time. Downstairs, in my kitchen area, I occasionally get signal, but it's weak and will intermittently switch between my WiFi and the LTE network of my mobile devices. The extender was installed closer to my kitchen area to provide a stronger signal. Though the extender did successfully amplify my signal to the kitchen, it came at the expense of reduced quality when streaming video, which is why I wanted an extender to begin with. It works fine when browsing websites that aren't as demanding of WiFi.
Because the product works, I give it an average score of 3 out of 5 stars. However, due to the reduced quality of streaming video services (watch my included video to see the difference) I knock it down two stars.

The free RE7000 Max-Stream™ AC1900+ Wi-Fi Extender was sent by Linksys for a review.
Followed easy to understand setup instructions using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
1. Plugged the range extender in to a nearby outlet and waited for the indicator light to blink orange.
2. Pressed the WPS button on my Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream™ AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router, then pressed the WPS button on the RE7000 router.
3. A 2.4 GHZ connection was created using main network name + _EXT. Entered my router PWD to connect the RE7000 to Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream™ AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit router.
4. Repeated steps 2 and 3 to create a 5 GHZ connection.
5. If the signal is not very strong you only need to move the extender to an outlet closer to the router and repeat steps 2 and 3.
After the RE7000 is connected you can plug the extender into an outlet farther away from the router.
The RE7000 remembers router settings for 2.4, 5 GHZ networks, so if you need to move the extender you do not need to reconnect to your router. You only need to plug the RE7000 into another outlet.

I've been using RE7000 WiFi extender for one month. I'm very happy with its wifi performance.
It's very easy to setup. My ASUS AC68 router supports WPS so you can make it with only few WPS button clicks.
I'm living in a two-story house.ASUS AC68 router is on the first floor and the wifi signal was not that good on the second floor. So I plugged the range extender on the second floor to boost it. You can see the screenshots I uploaded. On the 1st floor 5G signal (SSID: EA-5) is -38dBm, 2nd floor is -67dBm. After installing the WiFi extender the strength is better a lot on the 2nd floor which is -38dBm (SSID: EA-5_ext).
And connected through the RE7000 wifi extender I am able to get 70Mbps download speed upstairs (130Mbps downstairs connect WiFi router directly). I'm very satisfied with this speed.

I recently received the Linksys Max Stream AC1900+ WiFi Range Extender for a review.
This was through the Linksys Family and Friends program. The WiFi Extender claims
to extend networks up to 10,000 square feet, and with MU-MIMO technology, there should be no dead spots with
this wireless range extender.
Packaging:
When I received it, there was nothing really fancy. It was just the range extender, regulatory information,
and a quick start guide. There was a wrapping of some kind around the device, and the device itself has a piece of plastic film on it.
One thing I would like to note about this extender is that it has no power button or switch. It contains very little peripherals: a button for WiFi protected setup, a tiny little factory reset button, and an Ethernet jack.
Also, there's only one LED that determines the status of the extender. I would have liked to see a power switch on the device. It would be nice to safely turn off the power before moving the extender somewhere else.
Installation:
I decided to place the router in the middle of my hallway. The router is on the first floor, and it's hard to reach a signal with my router in my room.
I was reaching 2 bars on the 5 GHz band, and the 2.4 GHz band was spotty as well. I hoped the extender could fix all that.
Please note that I did NOT set up using WiFi protected setup. I wanted to achieve some control with my device, so I opted to not use WiFi protected setup.
Perhaps I could test it another time.
First, after installing it, I waited for the lights to settle as indicated by the quick start guide.
Then, after disconnecting and connecting to the Linksys extender network, I went to the website that they indicated to setup the extender.
I would like to point out that access was limited on the Linksys extender at first, so I couldn't get to the website they mentioned. It takes a few minutes for the extender's network to settle.
I followed the instructions online, and selected my networks. It took some time to find my router networks, and it lists them by the name and frequency. As I was waiting, the connection dropped, and I had to reconnect. For the first
few times, I couldn't connect, and it took 5-6 times before I could connect again to continue my setup.
Eventually, I found my networks, and after clicking on it, it synced up with my home network's connection. This took some time, and there were periods of disconnection, but it was okay for the most part.
Once all that was done, it prompted me for names and passwords for the extender networks. It was the same as my router's networks, but with the "_Ext" at the end. Same password and everything.
Testing:
Once the network was set up, there was connection problems with both channel bands. The network was really slow, getting around 12.75 Mbps for a download speed. However, after an hour or so, it cleared up.
After a day of letting the network run, I managed to get a maximum of 42 Mbps. This is much better than just with my router alone. After a few more days, it averaged around 30-40 Mbps, so I'd say that the extender works.
Also, I would like to point out that the extender got a little warm near the power outlet, but that's to be expected when working with what I suspect to be a transformer to convert the voltage down.
Using the extender, I managed to download a very large game update in around 2.5 to 3 hours, which when compared to my old router, was amazing. The extender really worked when I needed it to, though I wish my game system could better utilize the bands.
Final thoughts:
Overall, the device works well as a WiFi extender device. Setup without WPS was a little rough and spotty, but it just takes time to get used to the network rebooting. For what it's worth, I wish the design has a slide switch so that I can shut off the extender when my network is not needed.
After setup, it was a little annoying that the extender networks needed time to "settle", but after an hour of waiting, they were rearing to go.
With peripherals, I wish that that there was an FAQ that could help better explain the extender. Just having a quick start guide really doesn't tell much. After setup, just go to the wifi extender page. Can WPS still be used even if the extender has been set up, or do I have to reset the extender first before I try out WPS?
Once I set up my network, what would happen if my extender networks have the same name as my router's networks?
Questions like that would be helpful if explained in the guide.
Also, the claim of "room to room" wifi with seamless routing is still being tested for me. I am getting a better reception at my dead zone spots in my house, but I can't really tell much about seamless roaming. I received some advice on how to setup the seamless roaming, which is nice, but I wish instructions for this would be in the box rather than having to search online.
It's difficult to test the maximum limits of this device without some heavy duty devices that really perform streaming with the 5 GHz network.
All in all, I think that this is a worthwhile extender for WiFi networks, and I highly recommend this for any household with a deadzone, though the setup might be a little long and annoying.

My modem and router are both installed in a walkout basement. I was having trouble streaming Wi-Fi in our house so I started researching Wi-Fi extenders for my house. I have a Linksys router and this mated well with that, so hookup was simple. Everything seems to work well with our Wi-Fi now now that we have the extender.

Was easy to install. It did allow my iPad to work out on the sidewalk, past the three season porch. Ut the ipad got quite hot, so I would not want to use it for an extended zoom session. We bought the wifi extender, however, to help with the delayed reaction, or lack of connection to the ring doorbell that is outside our back porch. Does not seem to have had any positive impact on that, so disappointed that either the ring camera doesn’t have enough connection, or that extender didn’t help with that capability. May try moving extender, but not lots of options.

Hi, Basdindy,
The Linksys RE7000 should be able to extend the coverage up to 2,000 sq. ft. You can try to relocate the extender using the Spot Finder feature to ensure the range extender is in the right spot for isolation and make sure that the firmware is up to date. But, we would like to assist you further. You can reach out to us at [email protected] with the link to this review for our reference.

This product is well made and easy to setup. If you have a large apartment or home, it's an ideal addition. Others may want to send Wi-Fi outside for reduced phone charges. Ham operators can remotely control a radio while sitting in the back yard. This Repeater ensures a reliable signal. It's worth the investment.

Excellent Network Extender, the set up is very simple and gives you the flexibility of being a wired access point as well.
I am using this RE7000 to improve the connectivity of my home theater for 4K streaming. It also enables me to connect my McIntosh MX170 to the wireless network by using the wired ethernet port. Now, while sitting at the listening position, I can stream 4K, as well as access the user interface of the home theater processor.

I've been through a few range extenders, as their lives don't seem to be that long. Having a Linksys router, this range extender makes things easier, and the seamless switching between networks (from the router or the extender) is a great benefit. Every so often, we have to reboot the extender as things just go wonky, and the connection or speed fails, but this one has been the most consistent to date.

I’ve been using this extender for some days, and so far I am very happy with it. I’m getting 4-5x faster speeds in my office than with a router, alone. It’s important that you make sure you have a compatible router, but if this extender is able to take advantage of seamless roaming technology, this is the way to go!
My wife and I have a one story, 2000 square foot home, and our wireless router is in the front room. Wi-Fi speed in the front room and surrounding bedrooms is anywhere from 50-100mbps, depending on the time of day, but our home office, which is in the far corner of the house usually can’t exceed 10mbps, and generally averages even lower. The speed was fine for most day to day use, but we would have to move our laptops to another room for acceptable download speeds.
The coolest feature of this extender is the seamless roaming capability. This has been around for businesses for many years, but I’m happy to see the technology coming to households. Seamless roaming allows your router to switch Wi-Fi devices between the access point with the strongest signal. This is a useful feature if you end up moving around the house a lot, because you don’t have to worry about which Wi-Fi network you are connected to. The negative aspect of most range extenders is they force you to specifically connect to the extender’s SSID when you need a signal boost.
I was on the verge of buying a mesh network system (google Wi-Fi, Linksys velop, etc), but seeing as we have just bought a high end router earlier in the year, it felt like a waste.
I was skeptical of how well this extender would work, but not only can I move from room to room with my tablet and laptop, but my speeds are also better than i had anticipated. I can access a full strength signal on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
If i was buying a new Wi-Fi solution today, it would be tough to overlook the benefits of a mesh network solution, but if you already have a good router and only need to get a stronger signal to a problem area, and you can take advantage of the seamless roaming this extender offers, this is the way to go!
