I purchased the Linksys - Velop Plug-In AC1300 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Mesh Extender to help the weak WiFi signal in my laundry room. My new LG washer and dryer has WiFi capability but my WiFi signal was being dropped of and on. After I set-up the Linksys - Velop Plug-In AC1300 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Mesh Extender in my laundry room, the connect has been solid with no interruptions.

Works great with my MX10 and MX5 system. This solved my problem of my 2 Alarm.com cameras being blind to the WiFi. Interface is not as easy to use as Apple but speeds are great.

I am running 4 nodes in my house, with 2 child nodes using a wired backchannel. I purchased this extender to fill out coverage in some hard to reach areas.
This extender simply will not connect to my other Velop nodes. I tried multiple times and event went so far as placing the extender in the same room as the wired parent node and still no luck, only flashing red lights (time and time again).
I will be retuning this product.

Hi, Jeff,
The Linksys WHW0101P is interoperable with all other Velop products. Thus, before you set it up, you must have the following ready: Existing Velop network with a parent node, Working internet connection and the latest Linksys app installed on your mobile device. You may try resetting the extender, and redo the setup process. You may refer to this link for step by step setup process: https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=316992. Let us know on how it goes so we can have this checked with our Escalation Engineers by sending this over email at [email protected] with your contact info and the link of this review, for our reference.

Great extender for Velop mesh network

I have a 3 node Velop mesh network (AC6600) and had one problem area in a room where the walls are lined from 2 sides with aluminum backed insulation. You can imagine how this effects any wireless transmission. I used this plug-in to establish basically a "corner flow" instead of a direct line from current nodes - to go through one not aluminum backed wall instead.
Installation is smooth and completely painless. It takes literally less than 5 minutes end to end, and most of this time is just waiting until the extender boots, connects (this can take >30seconds the first time), updates to the latest software version, and reboots again. It is great that it uses the same colors on the status as other nodes.
Since the installation (about 3 weeks ago) it works very stable is it continuously pulls 2 zoom sessions over it at the same time (we are a household that runs many times 4 individual zoom sessions at the same time in addition to music or TV streaming).
This extender does not have the connectivity to further nodes, just back to existing mesh nodes, but this is what the function of an extender is.
Signal strength and performance are great.

As an addition to the mesh system, this work. I bought to add to an existing VELOP system, and it pairs and works great with the system even though it is not the tower style that the other three nodes are. Do beware that the MESH system is tricky to set up and Linksys is difficult to get help from. . conflicting tech support (this isnt unusual in the tech field Ive found) and often the advice is "unplug it and then plug it back in" - sigh. .5 stars for the individual product, 3.5 for the VELOP system, 2 for LINKSYS tech support (I was hung up on many times, including once in the middle of workarounds)

I have 3 black mesh routers. Needed better signal inside and on opposite corner of a metal garage.
Unlike typical two channel extenders, this integrated directly into mesh network as an extension node.
The improvements were immediate and exceptional!
Typically after shutting a door inside garage my phone would drop signal entirely.
After installation I never drop signal and never drop below full bars.
Setup was as easy as adding a node to network. No separate networks, passwords or sloppy handoffs.
PSA for anyone experiencing one node drop often, I had similar issues. One node constantly dropped randomly. I moved it to my shed about 35’-50’ from nearest indoor node. (temp controlled computer lab...lol)
I have not seen any loss of node function since! If you experience similar issues change location of nodes or move further away if possible. I have blanket full bar coverage across an acre including inside pole barn. I run 4 nest cameras several nest hubs along with many Wyze WiFi bulbs and other smart home devices with zero lag on 4g lte broadband at 40 mbps.

1st thing to know is that these extenders only work with the Linksys Velop system!
Setup was very easy via the smartphone app. One was installed in my garage to assist in wi-fi coverage of security cameras, both inside and outside of the garage. It works perfectly.
The 2nd extender was placed in my dining room to extend coverage to two outdoor security cameras near that room. Again, it works perfectly.
I do wish Linksys would allow the app to designate a node to a specific item, instead of random selection. I see a lot of people asking for this feature.

I needed more access in my house, the garage, so I purchased the AC1300 to extend my mesh network. Installation was easy. The only problem I had was needing to upgrade the AC1300 firmware. It required a call to support and they walked me through the process. Easy and didn't take much time. I now have connectivity in the garage and up to my front sidewalk.

This couldn't have been simpler to install - as long as you have downloaded the Free Linksys Cell Phone App.
After setting up my brand new Linksys Router, I simply followed the instructions on my cell phone app, plugged it in, waited for the colored light to "Blink" then proceeded a couple simple "Taps" on the "NEXT" BUTTON on the App - and presto! Even stronger signal.
It's only been 24 hours - so let's see how durable this unit is..
But for two days, it's been great!

Outstanding little device... plug it in and don't ever have to think about it again. I especially appreciate that you don't need a table or something to put this on. My only gripe is that there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the light, so if you put it in your bedroom, it makes a pretty bright nightlight. I put tape over the LED on mine... problem solved. I also thought that $100 was kind of steep, but given the solid performance I have no regrets.

Works great. I have this Mesh extender paired with
Linksys - AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 5 Router - Black. Very good dollar value. easy to setup. Great coverage compared to my old system.
Wifi router is upstairs, Mesh extended is downstairs to cover kitchen and living rooms. I recommend both units.

Purchased this add-on for a family member's network when they were having connectivity issues in a recently added office pretty far away from the two Velop units.
This couldn't have been easier to configure in the Linksys app, and performance in the network 'dead zone' is not an issue.
I'll probably replace my Nest WiFi mesh system with a Linksys Velop system as soon as they offer a WiFi 6e system.

I just added this to my 3-node Velop network, and it's done exactly what I needed it to do.
I have cameras, Ring doorbells, and a MyQ Garage Door control system in the area of my garage, and the WiFi was just a little bit too weak out there for everything to work properly. Notifications were slow or missing, and camera views were weak or unavailable.
I'd previously added a range extender, but that only half worked, and then it quit working altogether. I couldn't get another one to work with the Velop system.
I knew I needed another node, but hadn't seen this option before. When I found it, I decided to just do it right, and bought this guy.
It was a truly brainless installation. You just add it like another Velop node, through their mobile device app. It quickly found the system, was incorporated into the mesh network, and that was it.
It's a more convenient way to add a node than the standard towers in a garage, and it plugged into the wall in the garage just fine. The status light is easily visible, and so far, it works just like it's supposed to.
The only disadvantage I can see for some people is that it doesn't have the capability of using a direct Ethernet connection, either for the device you're connecting to it (it's WiFi only) or for the "backhaul" to the network. It's strictly wireless, and that's just what I needed.

This is a nice add on if you need more coverage, however it's going to require a call to Linksys customer support to get it added to your network due to outdated firmware and no direct connection to an ethernet port.

I bought this to extend my mesh network to a part of the house that was patchy. There really isn't a cheap option to add additional nodes so this was cheaper than buying a 2-pack of nodes for 3 times the price. Works just the same as the existing nodes but worth noting that it will not work without a pre-existing system.
very happy with the purchase.

We already have the Velop tri-band three node set-up in our expanded cape cod house. It has a basement with Oled TV and PS4 gaming, main floor with den smart TV, and 3rd floor with 3 bedroom TVs, iPads, etc... The range of coverage could be spotty mostly because of signals having to penetrate beams, etc... Very good but not great. We also has spotty coverage on the backyard patio partly because of the signal blockage caused by old aluminum siding and cinder block foundation. We tried this easy to use and install device in a "soft-spot" inside the house and viola, excellent signal coverage. We also move it outside in the back patio when watching football with the TV and Roku device with no need for a cable box. Without this Velop device, the signal quality as per the Roku was "fair". With the Velop moved out there the signal quality was excellent. This is one of those devices that does what it says it will do. Best Buy also honored their own price matching policy when it went on sale a week after we bought it. What else do you need to pull the trigger? It also has a great warranty and tech support.
