    Good performance, limited configurability

Summary: The WRT32x offers "state of the art" performance for a consumer-oriented wireless router. If this is your only router/networking device, it will work well and provide very good wireless performance. If you have a more complex home network setup, look at Linksys' very similar WRT3200ACM, as the WRT32x has very limited configurability. Introduction: I've tested and used a huge variety of consumer and commercial-grade wireless gear over the years; everything from Aruba to Zyxel. Aside from a few stumbles a couple of years ago, the Linksys WRT series has represented good value in the consumer wireless router space. The WRT32x represents a bit of a departure for Linksys, in that it's specifically a gaming-oriented router. The good: Wireless performance is typically excellent, and was capable of providing the full advertised speed of my internet connection in all parts of my house on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. USB drive sharing likewise showed very good performance, likely due to the fast processor in the WRT. The bad: No support for "bridge mode" or "access point" mode, so it always acts as a router. No way to disable the DHCP server. No way to individually disable either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz networks, though at least you can assign different SSIDs to them. The ugly: "Killer" wireless only works with client devices that have "Killer" wireless, and honestly I couldn't determine a difference in performance, as upstream/provider variations in internet access performance were larger than the variations in ping time or download speed caused by the router or other LAN devices. Linksys' 160MHz-wide channels provide no speed advantage over 80MHz-wide channels, since there are so few clients with 160MHz channel capability.

      Hello, wrbluepearl,

We're grateful for your detailed feedback regarding the WRT32X's qualities. Even though it prioritizes Killer-enabled computers, there are still options to disable that feature and to prioritize any device in the network. We can have our Escalation Engineers discuss with your more guidelines especially in the improving speed performance. Just send us your contact details at [email protected] along with the link to this post.

We hope to hear from you soon.

      Regards,

      Klaudette

This is likely one of the best routers Linksys has ever produced. It’s easy to setup, and can likely be the only router you need. The only issue I ran into was interference from a neighbor in my apartment. I don’t have a killer enabled PC that can apparently take advantage of the full power of the router. However, you will likely notice faster load times on video, and pretty smooth online gameplay with a console. I had no lag while playing games on my Xbox or PlayStation online. Online games seem to load a bit snappier. If you have a house, where WiFi signals aren’t as saturated, you’ll notice the network signal will be pretty great when centrally located; your results may vary. I love the USB connector, and was easily able to hook up a hard drive to access files throughout. The transfer speeds are pretty phenomenal in network, with two laptops transferring files like butter in-network over an AC connection. If you don’t need a mesh network product to distribute WiFi over a large area, I’d say this is an easy buy.

The wrt 32x is the best router I’ve ever had, I thought my bad WiFi was because of my provider but before switching I wanted to test out a new router. This router blew away my expectations. Highly reccomend for gamers or anyone who has dead zones or dropped WiFi coverage. Great product.

Easy setup through web portal. Fast connection speeds. Would have given 5 Stars if there were more user options through the portal. I went through two Netgear Nighthawk X6S in less than a week that had hardware issues before choosing the Linksys WRT32X. I'm glad the Netgears had issues. I'm very satisfied with the results.

Easy setup and great UI. Makes setup a breeze. They router has the ability to easy prioritize network traffic to bandwidth heavy devices. Great for the avid gamer that also has others in the house that are on social media or streaming video content to other devices.

Just bought this on Black Friday. Have not had any issues with it. An easy setup for anyone not use to setting one up. All my systems work great. PS4, Xbox one, switch, other WiFi systems (Blu-ray players and TVs) and other handhelds are working great.

Ok so there are alot of 1 star reviews here and I was almost one of them...bought this guy after reading an article and being sick of my comcast all in one unit..bought it home, set it up...was amazed by the speed and ease...and then IT started...wifi disconnects, router freezes all those things you don't pay 200 plus for a router to do...made sure the firmware was updated from the routers admin page...no update available...tried the firmware from the product page at linksys...still no luck...deep rage begins to boil and I ask the wife to put it in the box for return so I don't destroy it...while she does I pull a thread of the linksys forums where the linksys dev team have put together a firmware package that hadn't yet hit the servers...i stop her and try it...ever since this thing delivers as promised...2 lag free xbox one's while 2 other tv's are streaming 4k...before one 4k stream killed the whole network....couldnt be happier...star lost for the day of rage

After using the NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi Router since 2014 it was time for an upgrade. Using the WRT32X Router set up was easy and now I am enjoying my internet since now its no longer a bottleneck.

Doing this review as a non-gamer who needed a faster router. Setup was a breeze. Connections were fast and reliable. I have had a few Linksys routers over the years, and this is by far the best.

Great router - lots of features

This linksys router is completely worth the money compared to other units in the same price range. The dual band wireless is what more homes should be using so you don’t have a wasted wireless connection. It has more than enough power to reach edge to edge in a two story home. Also as an added bonus the NIC in the router is by Killer which is another great brand and reputable company. Lastly you can install DD-WRT on the router for more features and monitoring tools without fear of voiding your warranty or bricking the device. Heck the company’s website basically tells you to go open source if you want. 10/10 would recommend.
