Brings it to the next level for typing up stuff, the built-in stand adds flexibility, the built-in Trackpad makes everything more handy, the backlit keyboard is always a plus, and the easy snap-on magnetic attachment means it holds nice but also comes apart easily AND you don't need to hassle with Bluetooth to have your keyboard connect. Looks nice and protects pretty well, too. At $159 I was hesitant, but it is a very good and useful accessory for your iPad.

The quality engineering, design and ease of use is phenomenal. It literally turned my iPad 10 into a full laptop computer. The functional interface for volume and screen brightness control. The trackpad and backlit keyboard are perfectly compatible and are powered by the iPad which means that no separate charging is required. Haven’t tried the crayon yet but thinking about getting that as well.

Great for ultraportable laptop alternative

I was debating purchasing a replacement chromebook for times when I wanted an ultraportable to answer emails/surf with something bigger than my phone but where I can type much faster than using a screen. I realized that the iPad could fill this role well enough with an appropriate keyboard and this was that keyboard. The keyboard is your typical superflat keys so don't expect a pleasurable typing experience, but certainly serviceable for what it is. While I wouldn't use this setup for all day typing, for your weekend coffee and email responses, its more than adequate. Oh and the case is handsome too.

A very, very good, but not perfect update.

I was sad: I loved the old one. But the new one has most all of the charm of the old one, and fewer of the issues. Fave new things: keyboard is totally detachable - reconnects easily with powerful magnet catch. Fold out support if you want a stand alone screen. Backlit keyboard. It also has a touchpad, which works well, but I never use. Also a handy sleeve for a stylus: works well with Apple Pencil. I've already dropped it a few times, and it protects well. No issues there. The thickness of the case sometimes makes connecting the charging cord (if you're using the Native Union combo plug, mostly) or positioning your finger for touch ID a little iffy, but no other major issues. The only thing I wish: doesn't come in black. and the case is fabric, not plastic or rubber. That is tactile-friendly, but cleanup involving any gooey stuff becomes a bit more involved.
