The Harmony Smart remote is a remote system designed to use your tablet/cell phone to control your theatre system/tv. The harmony Hub is the Brain of the system, It uses WiFi to get commands from phone and the basic remote included. IF you use phones for your remotes, everybody in the house with a smart phone can have a custom remote. The basic remote has the most customization I've seen from harmony. since the system used WiFi, there is no need to point the remote, and you can conceal your theatre equipment in a cabinet or a closet, as the remote doesn't need line of sight. 6 activities are allow on the basic, and over 20 favorite channels. Very easy to setup a basic system, if you want better more flexible options, hire an outside A/V tech. or somebody with extensive programming knowledge to do the work for you. More the one hub can be use in a home, to expand control of your home with your mobile device. Meaning lights, A/C, and sound can all be controlled, this is the cheapest way to bring home automation in to your home.

Someone in the house would always lose the remote so having one on my iPhone is an awesome thing!
The remote controls my TV, Blue Ray player, Bose sound system, even my MAC Mini (I run Plex home theater on it). The remote is programmable, and lets you control multiple things with one button click. For example, when I want to watch a movie on Plex, it switches the TV to that input, and turns on the Bose system for the sound. No more fumbling around with multiple remotes any more.
There is a downside though. The iPhone buttons are more sensitive, so I tend to accidentally change channels when I don't want to. I've gotten used to this over time, so it happens a lot less now, so it's no big deal.
All in all, it's well worth the money, especially if you have someone in the family that constantly loses the remote!

Excellent remote except for lack of backlighting

I like this remote package a lot! This is by far the most useful and cross functional universal remote I have ever used. I am currently using it with Roku Ultra, Flirc USB-IR connected to an AirTV Player, a Fire TV stick, and a Hisense smart TV. I am now able to perform every function of all 4 devices with this single remote and I'm loving it. The only big negative I can point out is the obvious lack of backlighting on the remote itself, which makes using it in the dark somewhat challenging. If this only had backlighting, I would rank it near perfect. The remote itself has a great hand feel and the layout works very well, despite some of the smaller keys. I don't want to use a phone as a remote, which is apparently what Logitech intended with this package. Frankly, I don't like remotes with LCD screens, much less using a smart phone. If they ever offer a backlit upgrade of this remote I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Please be aware that this is not a simple "plug and play" type of remote. If you intend to use it with multiple devices and want a fully functional integration, you must be prepared to spend quite a lot of time with the initial set-up and configuration. This will include experimentation and daily adjustments over several days to get everything just right. If you enjoy tinkering around with this type of thing, you will love it. On the other hand, if you are impatient or just want to quickly set it an forget it, this is not the remote for you. The good news is that all your settings are saved in the cloud, so even if your remote fails in the future or you upgrade later, you can easily restore your settings without starting over from scratch.
I will mention two other minor annoyances I found. First, unless you want to do the programming from your smartphone, you have to connect the hub directly to your computer in order to sync your programmed settings. Depending on where you place your hub, moving it back and forth between this location and your PC can be a hassle. Second, if you have more than one device that requires a Bluetooth remote signal, you might run into issues. I was unable to connect two Bluetooth devices simultaneously (Fire TV stick & AirTV Player). I resolved this by using Flirc to convert my AirTV Player to an IR signal and now they all work simultaneously. It probably just depends on exactly what devices you have.

Super cool to be able to control all your devices with one remote. I have my DirecTV, Vizio TV, Xbox One S, Amazon Firestick, Sony Sound Receiver and a couple other items hooked up to this and it all works flawlessly. Also super cool to have Amazon Alexa be able to turn on and off all devices by voice when i have my echo connected also. Fully recommended.

I still haven't quite gotten this controller set up the way I want it; however, what I _have_ gotten working is great. I especially like the abilty to use our cell phones as controllers ... I may not know where the remote control is but I _always_ know where my phone is. ;-)

Calling this thing a "universal remote" is like calling a Lamborghini a quick car.
This remote does so much! It even has bluetooth allowing me to control items that don't have IR: Amazon FireStick.
It can even talk to a lot of my smart home accessories. You can setup a scene to auto dim lights, turn on TV, Select AV input, Turn on device, and Receiver all with one press of the button on the remote! So Amazing.
I have had Logitech remotes in the past, so setup was super easy from my iPhone. Once I was logged into my Logitech account, it imported all my devices, but adding a new one was as simple as plugging in the brand and model number.
I would recommend this great system to anyone who is frustrated with a complicated AV setup. I was able to automize functions and get rid of 5 remotes!

I'm pretty tech savvy, but it did take about two hours to get it set up just the way I wanted. But once I got it setup...It's amazing. Once I learned how the setup worked it was pretty easy. I have a PS3, LG TV, Yamaha Receiver, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, and a Home Theater PC, The Home Theater PC took a bit of research. Once I found the correct manufacturer from a quick Google search it found my USB Receiver. I could then drill down in the custom settings and change the power setting for my HTPC IR receiver start and close Windows Media Center. The remote even shuts down the Sony PS3...if you own one you'll know the PS3 asks you if you sure you want to shut down...the remote acutely toggles automatically to answer the PS3 shutdown question...amazing! I did have the iphone app crash a couple times pairing the PS3 and Amazon Fire Stick (they use bluetooth instead of IR), I found that I had to relaunch the app use the iphone app to control the bluetooth device which will the first time ask you to pair. Once your have it paired you can then set up the Activity to program all the device you want to come on and inputs to be set to. You can use the phone app to control the devices, but I find the phone app is good to setup and then use the included remote to control everything. If you have multiple A/V devices this universal remote is a must, especially for the price. One of my best purchases.

Somewhat easy to set up but I had geek squad assistance. We use our IPads to control the AV Receiver, TV, BR DVD player and Apple TV. Could not be happier. You can also use your IPhone or the actual remote to do the same thing. Once this is set up, it's great. I am thinking about getting another one for my other TV system I get the calibration system done in a few months.

The Harmony is great. Setup was quick and painless with my iPhone after I installed the app. It learned my TV, my Time Warner DVR, Apple TV, and my Bose V20 system in minutes. I had to take a second to enable IR control for my Bose system, but it worked great after that. There have been very few issues since I have installed the system. Every once in a while the Sony TV fails to re-sync with the Bose after switching video inputs to/from my Apple TV. If it weren't for that, I would give it five stars. I actually love the included remote and use it 99% of the time. The iPhone/iPad apps are good and I primarily use them when I want to dig down into some settings or other non-standard use.

I had to replace a favorite Logitech remote, Harmony One, due to a cracked screen. Repair through a third party was going to be ~70.00. I shopped for replacement remotes and liked these as I could have the family use their iOS devices as well as the supplied remote. First if you already have Logitech remotes, the ability to copy over existing settings to the new Smart remote is easy. Configuration on a MAC or PC is a must, as setup over a smartphone was a chore. My only beef with the smart hub is the sometimes it does not toggle to the correct input of the TV. I plan to attach the IR blaster to assist, as well as modify the settings. I will report my findings in an update.

I got this remote to replace a universal remote that was slowly dying. Out of the box setup was pretty easy, but there was very minimal documentation. My main problem was getting it to work through a closed cabinet, Every time I tried to move the base unit to try and correct a non working component another device wouldn't function. Finally, after some research I found that I need to place the IR blaster outside my cabinet taped to a certain spot and I need to have another it blaster with two sensors that controlled two different devices. Once I found the solution everything worked like a charm. The included remote is very responsive and the iPhone and ipad controls work great. It's also highly customizable via the harmony desktop app. My only gripe is that I wish the stand alone remote had a backlight for watching tv in the dark.

I originally bought this remote because my old one was on the fritz. It was another Logitech multipurpose remote control, but some of the batteries had worn down and would no longer function. I went into Best Buy looking to get a remote control, and this is the one I saw. It is not a cheap remote control, but when I started looking at the different options I knew this was what I was looking for. It allows me to connect to different devices, and that doesn't even scratch the surface. Overall I find the remotes of this brand to be well built, and possess many if not way more function than I could have ever expected from a standard or traditional remote control. I recommend the Logitech Harmony remote brand for anyone looking to reduce the number of remote controls to as few as possible. Buying this one means you really only need one.

I was hesitant to buy this product, because there were several conflicting posts about this product in online forums. After thinking a lot finally bought this one. I had fire tv, xbox, windows pc connected to my non smart hd tv, and i wanted to control all these with a single remote. Though i was not sure if i could achieve that with this harmony hub and remote i didnt find any other promising option, so bough this one. I should say i have taken the right decision and this is probably one of my better purchases this year. The setup is easy but understanding how actually this works is little tricky, one of my relative saw this at my house and purchased this for his home, but he was not able to use it and was very sad with his purchase, but the trick is one need to understand what an activity is in the setup, then it will be really easy to use.

Logitech has cornered the smart remote market in my opinion. The devices are simple and easy to use when they work. But you have to have some tech know-how and patience to get everything running. And when things don't work as planned, you need to know how your system works. I have an Apple TV, Chromecast, PS4, Xbox One all plugged into my receiver. I also have basic cable. So when I hit the Activity button and say the receiver was already on, then the Home will turn the receiver off. It's as simple as logging into the phone app and going to Help to turn the receiver back on (or getting off the couch and doing it manually).
The app seems complex at first (only because there's so many options) but it really does a great job of walking you through everything. I would definitely have the model numbers of all devices you want to add (video game consoles not so much, but you need to know TVs, receivers, etc.). You add all your devices and then create activities where the Logitech remote sends an IR signal (and Bluetooth in some situations) to tell each device when to turn on/off and what input. It takes some time to set up the first time, but it's well worth it. And once you create a Logitech account, upgrading to a new remote is dead simple; you just log in.
I've never had an issue with placement of the Logitech Home, but my entire system is out in the open, but you may want to think about placement (there are IR extenders you can plug into the Home, it comes with one with the possibility of adding one more). This remote is basic, but the battery lasts forever and I don't need a screen. BUT, I will say that this remote does NOT allow you to troubleshoot, so if one of your activities gets messed up and something goes to the wrong input or doesn't turn on, you need to open the phone app. For me not a big deal, but should be something to consider if you're not one to have your cell phone handy when watching TV.
Lastly, the Amazon Alexa integration is a plus. Voice control when changing Activities is just plain cool (but entirely unnecessary).

I typically buy the more expensive Harmony Remote Controls. I must have 3 - 4 Harmony remotes in the past 12+ years. My main issue was I would forget to charge the remote and it would require charging at the worst moment.
I decided to try this remote as it was on sale at Best Buy. The actual remote is good for the basic functions. I love the fact i can use my iPhone or iPad as a remote control too.
I use this remote control in my dedicated Home Theater with a 110" screen and 7.1.4 sound system. Can't really complain about this remote for the price. If i had to pick 1 negative, i wish the buttons were backlit.

In my opinion, this is the only universal remote worth buying. The integrations with smart home controls and voice assistants really add to the functionality and give you a reason to consider this. Also, the phone and tablet apps make it much more usable.
I subtracted a star because it is not always the easiest to set up depending on what you are trying to do - part of that will depend on the equipment you are setting up. Universal should generally mean universal so I do have a little disappointment in how it works with some of my HT setup.
It is not an out of the box ready-to-go remote. It does get my slight recommendation, but just be ready to put in the work to get everything how you want it.

I bought this to consolidate many remotes and to replace my hand held Harmony remote control. The amount of device this remote can handle is similar to my current remote but the advantage with this is the network link that enabled the remote set up using your iPad or smart phone. The set up is very simple. The hand held remote is also very handy besides using your smartphone or iPad to control your system. I did not give a full 5 stars is because I later found the same remote lower price which I was disappointed with Best Buy. Other than that, the newer model comes with a display on the hand held remote. Overall, a good remote and works in my system without using the mini blaster.

I bought this unit to replace a Harmony 890 that was stepped on. When I got it home and opened the baox I was suprisied how compact the unit was. To setup I downloaded the App for my tablet, plugged the unit in, located it via bluetooth, and proceeded to setup all my devices. It was easy to setup scenes (watch tv, listen to music, play xbox). The only issue I had was I needed to purchase a 3.5mm jack to 2.5mm plug adaptor to use my existing IR distrribution hub. Having the remote control is useful when I don't want to use my tablet or phone. After using this product for serveral months I am very happy with it.

If you have ever used a Logitech Harmony remote, you are aware of how easy it is to get some of your electronics out of sync. For example, you press the Watch TV button on your remote. The TV turns on and the user lowers the remote. Whoops, the AV receiver didn't get turned on. It is hard for people getting accustom to pointing the remote at the electronics for 10, 15 or maybe even 20 seconds. These problems DO NOT EXIST with this system.
This remote sends a command via RF signal to a box with the IR emitter, which in turn sends the commands needed to turn on or off the appropriate devices and switch the audio/video, inputs/outputs to the settings you have specified in the setup.
If you have setup it up properly, everything works. If there are problems you can edit the setup and try again. You MUST have a computer with internet to configure this system. There is a learning curve to setting up this system, but it is far better than anything else I have tried.
My experience with Harmony remotes in the past has been that they normally do not last longer than 2 years. This system, due to it's design, should offer a far longer life than the sophisticated Harmony remotes with built in displays. I believe that for the technology aware user this system is a must have.
This ONE REMOTE handles my TV, AV receiver, Roku box and Blu-Ray player. Switching from one activity to another is a single button press away.
It really is worth shouting about.

Turns a smart phone into a powerful remote control for a reasonable price. The only complaint I have is that the included hard-key remote is not backlit or rechargeable, which makes it tough in dark home theaters.
