Purchased the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote for my wife in December of '09. Was very disappointed in the design and software, returned it. Was skeptical in purchasing the Ultimate Home. What a surprise, the display and software is phenomenal. All my equipment was on their web site. You can easily program buttons on the remote. My wife is very pleased with the one button turning on or off. Thinking of getting one for myself.

Purchased the harmony one thinking it worked with your voice, but come to find out I had the wrong one... so I had to go back for an exchange.... and in a way lucky I did... because the harmony home hub comes with the remote and the hub and it was 80 bucks less. So now I got what i wanted and for much less. Now on the product... I absolutely love it.. you can use the remote without even pointing at the system, you can use your phone with the app, n your voice...I use my google assistance on my phone though. I don't own a Alexa.. but maybe soon..if you have a entertainment system this is definitely worth it. I used to own the harmony 650. Which I now use in my bedroom. I really didn't have any issues setting up, little minor setbacks setting up the Xbox to be controlled by the harmony, but I eventually got it.. you do need a little patience depending on the activity you are trying to set up... but once it is set up.. you will love it, and can put away all those other remotes.. btw, I also control my AC with the harmony.

    Truly Amazing Remote

Love this remote. Recently I decided to upgrade my TV and Surround System and wanted a new remote that was able to control all of my devices. I had the Harmony 650, but hated using another remote to control the PS3 and PS4. I took advantage of the Best Buy trade in program, traded in the 650 and got the Harmony Ultimate Home for $100 less. After reading the reviews, I thought I was in for a long, complicated setup. I opted in using the computer setup rather than the app, since I was used to that setup from my previous remote. I didn’t find it more complicated then the previous setup. Only difference was positioning the hub and one of the IR Blasters. The setup was the same as my previous remote; it’s best to write down all the model numbers of your devices and what input they are connected to before starting the setup. Then just enter them in and set up the activities. Another nice feature is adding your favorite channels. Once the setup is complete, it is just a matter of getting used to the remote and its buttons. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to switch to different menus and learn how to get the numbers screen (Hint: When you are on the favorites menu, just swipe left or right and the number screen will appear after two swipes in the same direction). The remote works very well with the PS4 and PS3. You just have to pair it in the Bluetooth settings of the game system. I am so happy I don’t have to use the controllers anymore to watch Blu Rays on my PlayStations. I haven’t had any issues with this remote. All my devices turn on and off, almost immediately when I press the button. I currently have the devices behind glass and cabinets. I like the fact that you can use your phone as a remote also, but I probably wont use that feature. I find the actual Harmony Remote was more responsive. This is truly a wonderful remote, which will allow you to consolidate all your remotes into one (in my case 7 remotes into 1). Just take your time in the setup.

I've purchased harmony remotes for years. I've had their last two RF remotes and decided to purchase this one when I no longer needed the RF capabilities but wanted to have the WiFi controls. The delay from when a button is pushed to the action occurs is the longest of any of the harmony remotes I've had. The only time this is noticeable though is when you're trying to fast forward and hit "play" at a certain point. The locked home screen can get a little clunky to get to the buttons you want and I always wish the numbers were on the control itself instead of buried in the display menu. Easy setup though. I love being able to make changes on my phone and have them synced with the remote rather than having to boot up my computer. Overall, still a great remote.

Pretty good remote with Xbox One

My old Harmony remote succumbed to my 1 year old's juice bottle, so I out of need I needed to purchase a new remote. I've been a Harmony remote owner for many years due to the ease of incorporating many home theater components. Most recently the biggest challenge has been trying to consolidate Xbox One functionality with Comcast DVR. Prior to purchasing this remote I was forced to use separate remotes to control either the Xbox or DVR - I always had about 80% functionality overlap between the two ecosystems but never fully 100% - making it annoying when you had to search for the 'other' remote to do something. I purchased this new unit in hopes of finally using one remote to rule everything. I'm happy to say that I am able to once again control everything with a single remote - although not totally seamlessly. Essentially I had to setup two separate activities on my remote - one for TV and one for Xbox One. This works pretty well to be honest - but took some setup time to figure out all the correct settings so you don't power anything down when switching activities. Now if I want to go search for a movie or run an app on Xbox One I do not need to search for a controller. In terms of the remote design it's nice but not perfect. They moved the rewind/play/fast forward buttons to the top of the remote which I am not a fan of - especially since the power button is right next to the rewind button, sometimes leading to an errant power down of everything when you were just trying to rewind the DVR a bit. The touch screen could use an improvement in sensitivity since I sometimes press a button on the screen and it doesn't register. There have been a few minor bugs now and then that are slowly being addressed by firmware updates. About 95% of the time the remote works perfectly, but it's that 5% of the time when you are trying to fast forward and then play...and it just keeps going despite you furiously pressing the button. Then it will return back to normal the next time you try. Overall I would recommend this remote - especially to anyone that is frustrated with managing multiple remotes with other components and Xbox One.

I owned a Harmony One remote previous to this one so I had familiarity with the overall configuration of Harmony remotes. If you have never owned one, there is a slight learning curve, but the new remotes have made it much easier to pick up than older models. If you have 3-6 remotes for your home entertainment setup this device is integral for convenient control. It also allows connectivity to your home automation system if you have a need. With the Harmony Hub the remote doesn't connect directly to your devices, but rather through the hub and then to your devices (through Bluetooth & wired IR blasters if you have them hooked up). The benefit to this is you need not point your remote at the device(s) you are controlling, making the experience more convenient. You can also control your Hub (and your devices) with the Harmony app on your tablet or smartphone. This is a very cool feature if you want to control your devices from a distance. Your mobile device can connect to the hub through the internet via the cloud making it possible to check the status of and control everything from anywhere. If you want a quality device that looks as good at is works, look no further. Don't spend more money on the Elite remote either - it don't do anything more than this model. They just had to charge more for the newest version of the remote. In my opinion it doesn't look as good either and the touchscreen placement isn't as hand friendly. I have owned Harmony remotes for almost 10 years and wouldn't ever go without one. The Harmony cloud saves all of your remote/device/activity settings so if you ever need to replace or upgrade your hardware your settings are seamlessly transferred to the new gear. Very cool.

I was shopping for a replacement remote for an older Harmony and discovered that Best Buy had a Harmony remote trade-in offer that would give me a $100 credit . That extra money enabled me to consider the Ultimate Home which I purchased. I have not been disappointed. I control a satelite dvr, an audio system, a Nintendo WII, and a blu ray player. All are attached to a Samsung smart tv which would rarely go to the correct input when I used the old Harmony remote ( a 659 model, I think). Now every activity selected with a home screen menu works perfectly with the remote or my Iphone or Ipad. Setup was fairly intuitive and was easier to work with on the Ipad. I haven't been able to get a smaller Dynex tv to work consistently with the remote yet but haven't given up yet. Overall, it has been very satisfying - especially for my wife who wants to watch tv without having to hassle with inputs, audio, etc.

Remote is working great. I didn't set it up, but very easy to use, and I've all ready made some adjustments which seem easy to do. Touch screen and touch feedback work great. Battery life can be a bit of an issue if you don't adjust the setting to take the backlight off after a short period of time. Has a ton of other components that can be tied into it. The phone app works great as well.

I have been a fan of harmony remotes for years now. This one is by far one of the best. I like the touch interface, and the minimalist look of the buttons is nice and sleek, but adds another layer of complexity for less tech savy customers, since it puts number keys on the screen, and not even the default screen. The customers that benefit most from these remotes are the elderly that have difficulties understanding which remote to use, and that "feature" makes it harder, not easier than other harmony versions. Another problem I have with it is its inability to tie into existing remote extenders. I had a situation where I needed to keep multiple Dish Hoppers in the same enclosure. They don't have the ability to have discrete IR remote codes, so the only way I was able to keep them from both responding to the same remote was to put the emitter from the harmony in a separate area with the sensor for the IR extender. This is not the most elegant solution, and it would have been better had the base worked with standard IR repeaters. Otherwise, the remote feels very comfortable in the hand. It programs as easily as could be imagined. It simplifies the task of running a lot of equipment tremendously, and it is nice to be able to update things using wifi. I highly recommend this remote. The problems I had are minor in the long run compared to the benefits.

I got a really good deal on this remote because I got it during BestBuy's Black Friday in July promotion. I'd already been thinking about getting one, and the sale made it the perfect time to do so. Anyway, prior to this remote I'd been using an older Harmony remote that was pretty basic, but got the job done. This one takes all of that to the next level. I love that I can change some of it's features directly from the remote, and the rest from my iPhone, so hooking it up to my computer isn't really necessary any more. That is super convenient! It also is much more flexible than my previous Harmony in allowing you to customize things. I like the touch screen, but I recommend leaving the screen lock on. Even though this adds one extra step to using the touch screen (you must swipe across it to unlock it), it is worth it to me because that prevents accidental selections. It's pretty sensitive. And the remote has dedicated buttons for the most commonly used functions, so you can still use the remote for most things with the screen locked. I also really love that I can control many of my home's smart devices with this remote as well. For example, I have Philip's Hue lights in several rooms of my house, including my living room where the TV is. So, now when I press the "Watch a Movie" button, it not only turns on my TV, my Blu-Ray player, my Bose sound system, and sets the appropriate input on the TV, it also dims my lights to a "Movie" setting that I had already created. And it's smart enough to only do this after sunset, instead of any time of the day. That is awesome! I can also control my Nest thermostat from the remote as well. That's pretty cool! There are a few small things that I'm not crazy about though... First is the color. I bought the white remote. It's actually a really good looking remote, and it's easier to find when I can't remember where I set it, than a traditional black one. So, what's the problem? Well, only that white shows dirt. And it's not like it's filthy or anything, but if you use it with dirty hands, or even just repeatedly set it on a table that may have dust on it, it begins to pick up a dingy color on it's main contact surfaces. It's not a deal breaker, but it's something to think about. Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder, and I think both the white and black remotes look nice. I probably would've bought the black one just because I'm more traditional when it comes to my electronics, but the white one was the one on sale. I don't regret it, but I wanted to point out this potential drawback. The way this remote works is also different than most remotes. The remote is communicating with a hub at all times. It does not directly send it's signals to your devices. This is both a pro and a con. That means I can use my remote even when I don't have a great line of site to all of my devices. However, what it does mean is that the hub (or one of the two included IR blasters) must be within line of sight of all of your devices. And that may mean sitting it in an odd place in your room. It isn't a problem for the most part for me, but my Bose sound system is very finicky about receiving it's signal. So, I am able to hit everything else I own from the main hub, but had to hook up one of the blasters and put it in a really awkward place in order to hit the Bose system. I know that this is really a fault with the Bose system, not the Harmony system, but it's something to think about when you lay everything out. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to set mine up. One last point... some people have complained about the battery life. They say the remote only lasting two days or so is terrible. And I guess I'd agree if it was a traditional remote that didn't do a whole lot and that I had to replace AA batteries in. However, think about a couple of things... First, this remote is doing A LOT!! It's got a full color touch screen, it communicates with tons of your devices, and it has a built in rechargeable battery so you don't have to change them out periodically. And, and this is important, it has a dock to set the remote in to charge it up. I can't imagine that anyone would find this difficult to do. Just plug the dock into a wall outlet and set it on a table near where you usually watch TV. When you're not actively using the remote, set it in the dock. Or at the very least, set it in the dock over night. How hard is that? And, to make it just that much easier, the remote will even work while it is docked! I tested this battery life "problem" out pretty much right after I got it and intentionally left it off the dock until it died. It took mine about 3 days to die. And within a few minutes on the dock it had enough juice to start controlling my devices again. So, for me anyway, battery life is not an issue. Overall, I'd recommend this remote if you can swallow the purchase price. It truly does make controlling all of your devices very easy, and it looks great while it's doing it. And if you can find it on sale, even better!

I love this remote. I had the Harmony One for several years and totally loved it too, but it was looking a little worn and tired so I traded up and got the Elite. It works with all my stuff (I got a lot of stuff) and it even works with my Epson 5030BU projector. It also works with my PS4, except the PS4 has to be on for it to work. No worries, I walk up to my PS4 and touch it just the right way until it gets turned on, I can use the remote from then on. It comes in handy while watching movies. The buttons feel good with a nice click sensation when pressing them. I wish the color buttons were a little higher since some of my devices tend to use those a lot - I guess I could program the buttons to show on the touch screen, hmmm, I 'll have to try that today. Oh, and I can program the remote with my iPhone, iPad, Samsung tablet or my computer as long as the devices are all connected to the same wireless network. I can also use the iPhone, iPad or Samsung tablet as a remote, but I'm old and more accustomed to using the hand held remote. The touch screen works good and there's a little vibration when you press it or when you press a button - I think you can turn that off if you want. I haven't had a need to use the touch screen as a mouse so I can't comment on that, well, I could but I would be making it up. The IR blaster that's included with the Elite is AWESOME - I can control all my toys even with my big dog standing right in front of them. My one and only complaint is that the remote has a form fitted base. You have to put it in just the right way which is a little difficult in the dark. Yes, it's pricey, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for. If this remote lasts as long as my last one, I will be thrilled - wait, I already am thrilled with this remote. I will be REALLY thrilled!

We have the Harmony 880 and using the website (yes I did have to get a sign in for the new website for updated remotes, no big deal to me) the set up asked me if I had an older Logoctech remote and it helped me transfer all my settings from it to this new one. I chose the ultimate home because it comes with the base and two IR blasters (those can be positioned for hidden units BUT it will also allow you to use Bluetooth (PS4) and many home automation products. In addition you can use your smartphone or tablet as a remote. If this is your first remote of this type, be prepared to have peice in the household, one button press and your AV receiver turns on, chooses the corect input and output, your TV does the same and Cable box, ToVo, Blueray,DVD, video game heck even that old VHS recorder will turn on and off with one button. Set up is done with a computer or smart phone and you describe your equipment and how they work together. If there is a hiccup (and you will have one or two) right at that moment the remote will ask you if everything's ok if not it try's different things to tweak the set up and it works) also if need be it will learn from your factory remote.

I bought this remote to replace my Harmony One, and while this remote is great, the One was pretty amazing. This remote had a bigger learning curve in setting up than previous harmony remotes, but after it was done the remote works perfectly. Having less buttons took some getting used to, but it has grown on me a lot. Having a hub allows me to use my iphone as a second remote, which is pretty cool, though it's less useful than the remote itself. It's a plus that the PS3 adapter is no longer necessary when using the hub. Battery life is shorter than I would like. The touch screen lights up a bit too easy, so that's likely what is draining the battery. To be fair, at least it charges fast.

Yes, this is an expensive remote, but it all starts to balance out when you consider the last Logitech Harmony remote I owned was almost 10 years old. I only upgraded to this model due to the fact I gave my previous model to my SO. This model also connects and controls my Philips Hue lights, Nest Thermostat, and all bluetooth features of my gaming systems. If you have a media room littered with remotes, you might want to consider this one as a solution. Yes, I know... first world problems... That being said, if every time you go to watch a movie/TV you have to grab one remote to turn on the TV, another for your receiver to control volume, another for your gaming system or blu-ray player, etc. Well, this gets really cluttered and annoying after awhile. It take a little bit to set this remote up to work perfectly, but the interface for both setup and control is streamlined and user friendly. There's also a feature to transfer all old settings from one remote to another. So, if you have a previous model Harmony Remote it takes only minutes to transfer/setup.

Was a bit concerned given previous reviews with regards DirecTV DVR & without 'hard' skip button, but fast forward button can be easily re-programmed via intuitive MyHarmony. Traded in old Harmony One for $100 credit. PRO: No longer need to point remote at AV or TV. Very easy to setup and re-configure. Smart phone app...No need to search for remote between couch cushion. :) Nice charging dock. Firmware updates...Can also be a CON. Nice hi-res sensitive touch screen Remote can pause & play Windows media player, e.g. VLC. CON: Wifi drain battery faster Harmony One last more than a week Harmony Ultimate Home last about only 3-4 days. Firmware updates can be annoying when you just want to use the remote NOT as easy to replace re-chargeable battery.

I came from the Logitech Harmony One. The only reason i purchased this was they had a great deal on $100 off if you traded in an old Logitech. I had an 880 not in use, so i turned that one in. What a step up. I really didnt have the need from the RF but glad i got it. So much easier not having to directly point at the devices. Long range, very responsive. My only complaint is that the remote is a tad buggy. Will need to be reset and it will freeze and some things wont work. However, overall I can live with that as the remote is easy to use and feels great in the hand.

As you can see, I have to place the IR blaster in plain sight. It states you can place them behind cabinet doors, but it doesn't work. Also, you need to use both blasters. Often I have a problem beyond 6' with both blasters. As for the mobile app, it's useless. I find it really difficult to believe people claiming to replace their remote with this. You can't even customize the buttons and you have to scroll through 3 or 4 screens to perform a simple command. As you can see in the picture, if I simply want to surf the satellite guide, I (1) select the device or activity, then it takes me to page 3, then (2) I have to scroll to page 4, (3) press Guide, (4) scroll back to page 3, (5) scroll back to page 2, (6) use the direction or page up/down buttons to surf. If I need information, I have to (7) scroll forward to page 3, then (8) scroll forward to page 4, (9) select Info, then if I need to go back to the guide I have to (10) scroll back to page 3, (11) scroll back to page 2, (12) press Return, (13) and surf some more. Let's see, at least 13 steps. BUT, there's no Exit button to get out of the guide, so I'm stuck there! Useless; too much work and it's missing some buttons. As for the touch screen, you see need to look at it to know which button to press. Sure there's vibration after to press the button, but you can't feel for the button before you press it. Then you have to scroll a million pages up/down to find your desired command. With the old 880/890 you can scroll left and right to get to the desired screen which then holds 6 commands. It's more efficient, and you can feel for the buttons.
