GOOD, But NOT Great - As Bluetooth Mice Go ...

PREFACE :
I swear by Logitech "computer" accessories! - ALL of my "mice" (wireless AND cord-connected), and all my desktop speaker systems are Logitech products. ... Logitech designs, manufactures AND supports truly high-quality accessories, and they sell them at REALLY reasonable prices through many highly reputable sources!
#1.) MY "COUCHED" COMPLAINTS :
This Logitech - M557 Bluetooth Mouse IS NOT a really solidly constructed mouse. - I DON'T THINK THIS MOUSE WILL WITHSTAND BEING DROPPED FROM A DESK-HEIGHT SURFACE ONTO A HARD FLOOR SURFACE MANY MORE TIMES THAN ONCE. - My first concern about this mouse's "impact resistance" weaknesses is the fact that it does not have a battery "door" like ALL my other Logitech Wi-Fi mice. ... This mouse has a battery retaining cradle piece that frames the whole bottom half of the mouse's body. It's NOT attached very well to begin with, and when you add the weight of the batteries, it feels like it will just pop off upon impact: The batteries will be ejected and you will have to put the whole mouse back together again, before re-connecting it with your device. If this "cradle" breaks or snaps it will probably be repairable with glue, but it may never hold in place (albeit loosely) quite "right" again. - THIS MOUSE WILL PROBABLY NEVER PERFORM WELL AS A "TRAVEL"/"ROAD WARRIOR" MOUSE: IT'S JUST TOO INHERENTLY FRAGILE TO TRAVEL WELL AT ALL.
My second "issue" with this mouse may be (mostly) "my problem", but I bet that I'm not the only person who experiences this particular issue when using this particular mouse. ... I rest my middle finger on a mouse's right /"secondary" (e.g., left for "lefties") button all the time. This has NEVER been a problem for me when using ANY OTHER Logitech mouse. HOWEVER, on this Logitech M557, its buttons are so sensitive (they require SO MUCH LESS pressure to activate their contacts) that my middle finger is constantly "right clicking" the right button whenever (or just slightly after) I click the left/"primary" button. I'm really finding it difficult to train my middle finger to NOT rest on the right button AT ALL. - IN SHORT, the buttons on this mouse are not for people who are at all "ham-handed". I feel that someone with the delicate touch of a neurosurgeon is going to be far more able to use this mouse adeptly. ... IF YOU CAN, I suggest getting your hands on this mouse before you buy it. You may already be far more used to light and sensitive mice than I was when I bought this mouse "sight unseen".
#2.) AND NOW FOR MY COMPLIMENTS :
As I said in my preface: I swear by Logitech "computer" accessories! - This mouse (even considering my previous complaints) IS REALLY aesthetically pleasing, both visually and in its tactility. The feel of this mouse in my "smallish" hand is as good as (and maybe even a little better than) any of the other Logitech ("mini" and medium sized) mice I have ever owned/used. Its width, shape and general profile just feels good in my hand, even if its lower (less rounded, less bulbous) height may be contributing to my "middle finger resting problem" previously mentioned.
I love the Windows "Start"(-Menu) button, it's really a handy time (and motion) -saver. ... It was VERY easy to "pair" with my Lenovo G50-45 laptop AND it always connects to this computer really quickly upon start up. After all, the REAL reason I got a Bluetooth mouse was to avoid taking up ANY of the three USB ports on this laptop with a Wi-Fi mouse receiver dongle (I have A LOT of peripheral USB devices): To that end I have certainly accomplished what I was setting out to do by purchasing this Logitech M557 Bluetooth Mouse.
Overall, it's a GOOD bluetooth mouse for use at home, or in the office, just as long as you can keep from knocking it off your desk (or other work surfaces) on to the floor. However, if you spend a lot of time using your laptop/netbook/tablet in airplanes, on trains, in airports, hotels or other strange and/or uncomfortable "working" spaces; JUST GET A SEPARATE, MORE "STURDY" BLUETOOTH "TRAVEL" MOUSE (other than the Logitech M557) TO KEEP READY TO GO IN YOUR DEVICE'S "E.V.A." CASE, AND LEAVE THE M557 AT HOME.

I was looking for a bluetooth mouse for my laptop that didn't require a USB wireless adapter which takes up valuable ports on the newer convertible laptops. There were 3 options, Microsoft, HP, and this Logitech all in the same price range. Best Buy didn't have any on display to touch, but I've always had good luck with Logitech. This mouse is small and compact and great for travel.

I've been through a lot of mice looking for a bluetooth mouse for my laptop that worked well. This fits the bill great! Works on just about any surface that I've tried, and doesn't need a stupid USB dongle to work. Connected to my laptop bluetooth perfectly and goes longer than my others on batteries.

I needed a Bluetooth mouse for my new Surface Pro 3. With only 1 USB port, it was important to find one that would be powerful without a need for a unifying receiver. This one fit the bill.
So far, I'm impressed with the functionality and comfort. I tried Microsoft ArcTouch mouse and found it uncomfortable. The Logitech M557 connects perfectly and feels great under my palm. Great purchase!

I am using this mouse for my macbook pro and I am very happy with it. I did not want to pay the price for the magic mouse. The design is very neat however it's not the most comfortable mouse in the world. It easily gets connected to the macbook every time I turn it on.

Paired up and connected this Bluetooth mouse to my HP and ASUS laptops without a problem. No USB connector needed. A minor complaint is there's no information about getting the optional mouse software from the Logitech website. That software provides more options than the default mouse software in Windows.

I bought this so I could free up a USB port, plus not have to deal with a dongle. It was easy to set-up, but occasionally loses connection (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars). I simply turn it off and back on, and it will reconnect immediately. For the price, this is an excellent buy.

As usual, Logitech provides what I need at a reasonable price. The size is good for my hand size. It's for I-Pad I'm just getting used to using and it's already proving helpful sinceI have never liked typing on a touch screen. It's small enough to easily transport to dog rescue events.

Very nice and responsive. Feels great in my hand. The track wheel is a tad bulky compared to the slimmer ones I've used but you get used to it after a while. A good bluetooth mouse. Haven't lost connection at all using it and the battery life is decent as well.

Nice design, descent materials, I like the invisible optics (no annoying red light). A little long and wide. I was expecting it to be more compact but it's OK. At least it's thin. It looks matte on a picture but in fact it's very glossy on the top.

it works well. Yes, it does have a tendency to lose the battery cover when dropped, but there is a simple fix for that: don't drop it,. Best part is that it doesn't eat a port on my Surface

Nice design, very light with low profile makes it a good travel mouse. Bluetooth setup worked without issue. Two gothchas, scoll wheel is very hard to turn and press. You cannot flick it with your middle finger like most mice. Second, I have had issues with it not turning on, had to remove and reinsert batteries to get it to turn on. Decent choice for a Bluetooth mouse, but I like the Logitech M557 and MS Sculpt mouse better for about same price.

Great mouse !!! I use it on my Fire TV, while sitting on my sofa without a mouse pad and it tracks flawlessly. I also love being able to return to the previous page with a track wheel side click.

The Logitech M557 mouse was a great purchase - easy to set up and works without a fault. Battery life seems to be in par with similar products. Bluetooth connectivity set up fast.
