Customers consistently note the keyboard's high quality and ease of use, with many praising its feel and customization options. The product's compatibility across various operating systems is also highlighted. However, some users express concerns regarding battery life and the visibility of the LCD screen. Improvements in these areas would enhance the overall user experience.

Well I owned this set now about 3 yrs. It is still working just as good as the first day out of the box. Ths cutomization for the keyboard and mouse are great. I have had to change the batterys in the keyboard once since i bought it, the mouse lasts about 5 days before you need to put it in the charger. I do really like this set-up for a desktop. Doesn;t work very well for laptop use. the keyboard is quite large along with the mouse. I does work on a blanket which was a nice surprise. It is a bit costly for what you get but if you purchase on sale then it is a good deal.

Problems with "rechargeable" mouse

I love this product and it works well on my computer - had no trouble with set-up, but six months after purchase, the "mouse critical" power icon came up and after 24 hours of charging, I could not get it to stop sending me the message. E-mailed Logitech and since it was still under the manufacturer's warranty, they sent me a completely new set (including keyboard), no questions asked, and technical support was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Another seven months goes by - same problem. Now it's out of warranty and I'm either going to have to purchase another one or buy a different model. Haven't decided what to do about that yet. It would also be helpful if the LED function on the top of the screen had some back lighting. Would recommend, but with reservations.

Great Keyboard/Mouse Combo

I actually purchased this pricey keyboard hoping that I would not like it. I wanted to use it as a gauge against other lesser quality keyboards. Unfortunately I love it. From email notification, scrolling, one touch applications, temperature gauge (who really cares what the temp is in a room, but it is cool), and ergonomics. Get this keyboard you will love it.

Includes Logitechs comfortable mouse which is also rechargable-Awesome. Bluetooth tech means you can be all the way across the room. Very easy set up, for anyone who has every used bluetooth, you could do it in your sleep. Works on XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (dual-booting and a second computer). Have had for about 4 monthes now and not a single problem. Compared to standard wireless combos you are gonna pay more for bluetooth but entirely worth it for that extra distance, along with being able to connect to any bluetooth device (PS3). LCD is helpfull, but is not backlit, like other reviews seem to have thought, but not a big deal. Trust me this combo is worth the money.

Great Keyboard and Mouse! Bluetooth rocks!

Great keyboard and mouse. I'm connected with Bluetooth, and it works great! Initially I was getting some disconnect issues, but I played around with the computers "sleep" settings, and I'm happy to report that solved the issue.
The price is a bit steep, but you get what you pay for here. I had a MS wireless keyboard and mouse, and it had a radius of about 5 ft. which was worthless for my home theater setup. This keyboard/mouse puts my previous wireless setup to shame.
I've had this up and running for over a week now, and the mouse hasn't needed a single recharge even with heavy use. The keyboard isn't rechargable, but it appears it'll go roughly 180 days before needing new batteries (according to the on-screen estimate). Incredible!
Zero complaints other than the screen on the keyboard being nearly useless in a very dark setting... However, it works great in normal lighting.

I got a killer price match from BestBuy to get this product for $70. I set it up initially on XP and it worked great. I got a new PC with Vista Business 32-bit and it worked great there too. Upgraded about 3 months ago to Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and it has nice options for use with Media Center.
I've had the Microsoft Desktop 3000 for a while, and I wanted to move to a Bluetooth combo. I have my PC hooked into the TV and the wireless infrared had spotty connectivity beyond line of sight at times, or outside a couple feet.
The bluetooth connectivity on this device is great, it works from the extreme ends of the room without issue. The mouse sensitivity is great. As with all logitech's the special config of the extra buttons is also great. The keyboard has a nice firm feel and really has been great with Media Center.
I also love the fact that you can turn off both devices to save power. I typically do that and let the device go to sleep. Turning the power on brings the PC out of stand-by which is also nice.
The bluetooth transmitter works great with other deives, I sync my phone and printer with it also. Nice bonus since I didn't have a bluetooth with my desktop prior.
At its normal list I don't know if I'd drop that kind of cash, but having bluetooth rocks. It fit my needs perfectly. Now my PC is more a home media center than ever before and I'm not stuck trying to get clower to the TV just to perform basic tasks.

Best wireless bluetooth set on the market

To those who are having problems with this, I'm guessing they are probably using Windows XP or are getting pretty far away from the receiver. This was primarily designed for Windows Vista and requires usage between a certain distance range of the receiver.
If used properly, this will be the best keyboard mouse set you will ever buy. This is great for the living room on a media center PC.

MX5500 wireless combo is a very good product, easy to setup and use and short recharge time for mouse. .
And what I like most there are no wires, and the so I'm not having to buy a million AA batteries for the keyboard like I had to do with previous keyboards.
Even though it was more expensive than I planned but Best Buy had the best price on this item.

Overpriced setup

The mx Revolution is an awesome mouse which is why I bought this setup, but it's old technology that doesn't use a micro usb to charge during use like the mx performance. The keyboard is pretty typical for logitech. Great feel and useful extras, but the whole setup at like $180 is far too much. A better setup is a g15 keyboard and a g5 mouse which is what I ended up with after returning these items. The wireless novelty just isn't worth it.

Best keyboard and mouse I have ever used

About 9 months ago I bought a large LCD screen TV for my living room and hooked up my computer from the next room to it. So I needed a keyboard and mouse to control the computer from the living room, about 25 feet away with a wall in between. I needed a bluetooth keyboard & mouse combo and purchased the Logitech MX5000. Even though it worked, it had a lot flaws. It would often disconnect. Mouse would jump all over the place. Keys would repeat itself. I looked around for alternatives, but could not find anything until recently.
Logitech 5500 looks almost identical to the previous model, but with substantial improvements. I do not have any of the problems I encountered with the MX5000. Keyboard and mouse have a very good feel to it. I am very pleased with this model, I highly recommend this MX5500 to everyone.

Good Bluetooth Combo

5 star except for the software. Performance of bluetooth mouse and keyboard is exceptional! My only problem is when the software for the keyboard's special buttons is installed, the primary window loses focus every couple seconds which makes it hard to do anything (ie. type a URL). Logitech's solution to the problem is uninstall the software.

Pretty Cool, BUT...

I've been using Logitech peripherals for a number of years now. In my opinion, Microsoft makes inferior products, especially their mice. Before using this model I was working with the MX5000 one. Both concepts are the basically the same. However, the MX5500 has a "slicker" look to it. Also, it includes a much more advanced mouse, the MX Revolution, which actually fits my hand nicer. I did not experience the same lagging issue as I did with the previous model. I am running Windows Vista x64 Ultimate and it recognized it as soon as I plugged it in. Logitech improved upon their drivers -- before they did, it caused Windows to constantly drop the connection and forced the user to recalibrate it again and again. I stopped short of giving this product review 5 stars because of the price. Truly, one only needs to buy the mx3200 keyboard and the MX Revolution mouse separately and then he/she will have the MX5500 in its entirety while saving a lot more money.

This combo is ok, its overpriced and Im constantly having to get up and push the connect button on the receiver. The LCD screen on the keyboard is nothing like the picture shows. Its barely visible. The mouse is very comfortable and I love the fast scrolling, the Flip-3D button on the side where the thumb goes is a bit misplaced, its very easy to hit it on accident, same as the search button on the top, one slip and its opening a window, not great if you're playing a game in full screen. The software that comes with this combo is pretty good, SetPoint lets you see how many days remaining is available for each device, and it lets you customize what each button does.

Great Combo!

Oh, wow. I bought this to replace a MS wireless combo that just didn't transmit to my PC 15 feet away. This Logitech hasn't skipped a single keystroke or missed a movement of the silky-smooth mouse in the week I've had it. Great deel for the money. I like the feel of the keys; it has the positive feel of an old IBM keyboard from 25 years ago. I won't go on about the mouse, but I will say I've had a lot of Logitech mice, including an MX1000, and this is the best so far. For me it's the perfect combo. Setup was putting the Bluetooth dongle in a spare USB port and going through the on-screen setup; didn't even take a minute. Can't think of a thing to fault.

Best thing I own

This is without a doubt the best thing I own.
The mouse is the sexiest thing I've used. The mouse wheel? so awesome. I don't think its clear how it works anywhere else - it clicks if you move it slowly, but if you move it faster, it free-spins! And it just mouses nice.
The keyboard? Every keypress its like theres a tiny magical elf inside that gently lowers the key and then lifts it back up for you. They're probably not, but even the keys themselves feel softer.
This is the kind of thing that you just want to get a mahogany, silk-lined box and keep it in there all the time.

Had this combo for about a week now as I seen it in a local Best Buy store and wanted to go wireless but didn't like the laser style. So I figured that I would give this set a try even though it was a little pricey.
Well let me tell you I sure wasn't disapointed. After all it took on a few minutes to set it up and have it up and running Have the computer in one room and use the mouse and keyboard in another and it is working flawlessly.
Logitech has a great product here and I agree with allot of the others go out and buy this one if your looking to go wireless.

Perfect Mouse, and Amazing Keyboard!

This Product is superb. If your a hardcore gamer or just a causal surfer, you'll love this. The keyboard's keys are soundless and are good to the touch. The mouse is honestly perfect, you can change the wheel to be able to unlock it and it keeps spinning until you stop it pretty much. The rolly button by your thumb switches between windows which saves a lot of time and effort. I recommend anyone who needs a reliable keyboard and mouse. It does set you back 100 and some dollars but I say it's well worth the buy.

Great keyboard and mouse combination. I think the price is a bit steep for what you get, but it is extremely ergonomically pleasing. The mouse is outstanding and worth every penny. The keyboard had problems with its feet breaking during normal use though. Overall it is a good product, but a few kinks need to be worked out with the quality. I would suggest getting a less expensive keyboard and mouse combo though. The price doesn't justify the product.

There's nothing I can say about the mouse other then great great great. See the reviews for the mouse itself to see why (I reviewed it separately there as well).
As for the keyboard...it's fine...nothing special and certainly not worth the $. The only reason I give the package 3 stars is because of the mouse; would be 1 star otherwise.
Do yourself a favor, pick up a MUCH cheaper wireless keyboard and buy the Revolution mouse separately - unlike the keyboard, the mouse is well worth the $.
